Texas Riverranch in Leer (Ostfriesland)

I was born in a time when we still played cowboys and Indians, even owned a Winchester rifle, and actually shot it. Whenever I spot anything with a "Wild West" vibe, I explore it. I've encountered plenty of negative things on these explorations, but not THIS time!!! I reserved a table and was greeted at the entrance by a cowgirl who showed me to my table. While I was still taking in the atmosphere, another girl arrived with a menu, rolls, and herb butter. We were able to order drinks right away and, without much delay, our food arrived as well. The wait was very short, and when the next friendly girl came with the food, I knew I was in for a bit of a challenge. A portion that would have fed Bud Spencer, served in a pan. In short, I'm not exactly a skinny guy and I have a good appetite – BUT this portion was impossible to finish. In conclusion: good food, friendly service!! My wife and I were completely satisfied. The prices are (of course) not exactly cheap, but we were totally happy. Keep it up!!!!

Quite loud, long wait times (90 minutes), and way too expensive for what it was. My Caesar salad consisted entirely of endive with some fried chicken and sauce. Okay, who eats salad in Texas anyway? 😜 The usual Mexican place is faster and tastes better, but you can check that out for yourself. Bottom line: I won't be back anytime soon.

I got a table without a reservation and was served very quickly and courteously. The food is relatively expensive, but very good and plentiful. The fries were cooked to perfection, and the burger was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced; the meat was juicy but cooked through. I'll definitely be back!

We went there for dinner as a couple, with a reservation as specifically requested. We ordered full rack, potato wedges, and wings. Each order came with a choice of sauces. We started with nachos. Two slices of bread with herb butter and peanuts were provided as a complimentary snack. The bread and herb butter were very good. I personally really enjoyed the herb butter. The nachos were rather bland without sauce; a different topping would be preferable. The main courses were excellent, both visually and in terms of taste. The rib meat fell off the bone very easily. The wings were also very tasty and not at all dry or anything like that. The potato wedges were crispy all around. Drinks and food were always served promptly, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The price was reasonable. We'll be back. It's worth it.

Texas River Ranch! Cool Western-style restaurant! The food is very good, especially the spare ribs – super delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food arrived very quickly. Definitely worth a visit.

We arrived and were greeted in a fitting manner, wearing cowboy hats, and were warmly welcomed and escorted to our seats. The ambiance is harmonious: wooden floors, wooden tables, and chairs—just what you'd imagine a ranch or saloon to look like. The decor is perfect. The atmosphere is very friendly and very quick, and we were served a menu that includes everything from burgers and steaks to stir-fries and Texas beans, all reminiscent of Texas. Since the menu is online, I won't go into it any further. We ordered a pan of noodles and chicken and The Texas Basket. The ribs were truly fantastic, but everything else was also truly outstanding. The drinks and food were brought and served surprisingly quickly. What more can I say? It's a truly good restaurant with American food and style. I will be back. If country music had filled the ambiance, it would have been even better, but that's just a comment from me and doesn't influence my rating.

Delicious and friendly, I wrote 3 years ago. After the change of ownership, it's been a complete waste of money. Over 50 euros for a 300g steak, that's a promise no chef in the world could keep. Which sums up the whole problem with the restaurant. The dish, usually prepared with so much love and perfection, is now badly fried and served without any side dish. The 20 euro burger was the final blow, and we have missed our beloved restaurant so much for over 2 years. It's sad how something that was once cozy can be ruined so unpleasantly. On top of that, our last breakfast buffet featured over-salted pancakes and oranges that tasted of onions, which suggests that the same board was used. We had to pay extra for orange juice. That was the worst breakfast buffet we have ever been subjected to. By far.

Stylish ambiance with some overpriced dishes. We spontaneously got a table as a group of 15. The restaurant is a bit hidden away, barely accessible to walk-ins. There's a large free parking lot in front of the restaurant. The overall ambiance and decor are fitting for the restaurant's name. Even the staff wear cowboy hats. A half-liter of beer is a hefty €6.50. The food took a long time to arrive after ordering. The price-performance ratio for some dishes seemed off. My minced steak was plentiful and very tasty. A colleague had a main course for €42 and got a ridiculous amount of meat. Fillet or not, it was simply not enough to fill us up. That simply shouldn't be the case at that price. Otherwise, the service was absolutely prompt and always friendly. Conclusion: I would come back.

Delicious breakfast...!!! Addendum: You'll gladly return to a tried-and-tested place! I'll repeat that the food is good just for the sake of completeness. The Texas River Ranch is located on a tributary of the Ems River, and if you're lucky enough to get a table on the outdoor terrace, you can let your gaze wander over the East Frisian countryside: boats, birds, wind, and plenty of time. Apparently, the River Ranch is also very popular with bikers, as there are almost always motorcycles parked outside. Well, a rustic ambiance is attractive...So: I'd gladly return, preferably for the all-you-can-eat spare ribs on Wednesdays. From experience, I recommend making a reservation in advance! One more addendum: the lunch too: once again simply delicious!!!

It was recommended to me as THE burger hot spot in the region. Well, not bad, but the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right. I can get better burgers for less money, even in expensive cities like Hamburg or Munich, and even in Berlin. The location is creative. I lived in the US for a long time myself and always have to chuckle when people in Germany try to spread US flair. Service is also very nice. But €20 for a burger with a standard bun that looks very similar to those at Rewe, and a patty that doesn't look homemade either, plus greens and a few fries, is simply too expensive. The taste is bland; neither the bread nor the meat nor any other ingredient added any particular flavor. Okay, but boring, and the ingredients definitely don't justify the price.

Unfortunately the burger was cold after 95 minutes of waiting, but the staff was friendly and it was comfortable, but if you have children with you, 95 minutes of waiting can be very long

We love coming here for breakfast on Sundays, and it's always lovely, friendly, and delicious. The Texas River Ranch has a special atmosphere, with incredibly great, friendly, and incredibly hard-working staff! Delicious food, a good selection, and plenty of it. Clean restrooms, clean seating. My wife and I had a wonderful evening here tonight. We reserved a table online in advance. A friendly receptionist showed us to our table. The ambiance and decor are in a typical Western style. We started with a small appetizer of two fried onion rolls with herb butter and a small bucket of peanuts. For our main course, I had the Never Ending Spare Ribs Buffet (always available on Wednesdays) and my wife had the Egg Mac Burger. We were both very impressed with our food. The taste was absolutely amazing, and the ribs came off the bone like butter 🤤 Our service was always friendly, attentive, and helpful. We will definitely be back (I'm also still tempted by the steaks 😁)

The service is 80% very fast and reliable, but often they forget you or take an extremely long time. Most of the time they're very nice, but sometimes they're also very unfriendly. It's just as changeable as the food. The burgers and some other dishes are often completely unenjoyable. The spare ribs in the all-you-can-eat menu are usually very tasty, but as always, they're often cold, and there's almost nothing you can do about it. The prices are unfortunately a few percent too high.

We went out to dinner with four people. One of them had been looking forward to a rump steak for a week and ordered it. Unfortunately, the waiter misunderstood something, probably due to the noise level in the restaurant, and what arrived was a turkey steak. No apology, no replacement, even though it hadn't been touched. Despite an immediate complaint, the waiter blamed the customer for a misunderstanding, which is completely unacceptable in my opinion. Hence the one star for service.

This is our second time at the Riverranch, and the food is really good. The steaks, in particular, are tender and cooked to perfection. As regular US vacationers, the ribs are rather mediocre. The staff is friendly and on the ball. I recommend making reservations for the weekend, as there's a campground right next door.

Great atmosphere, but unfortunately no longer recommended. We've always enjoyed going there often, despite the somewhat long journey. Today, however, we once again had to wait forever for our food. No information from the service or anything like that. We complained about it (as far as we could tell, there were also three other tables there during the meal). Then the food arrived cold/lukewarm. There was no time to send it back. We had our 1-year-old son with us and had to make sure we finally got home in time. We've had several bad experiences there recently. We've given the restaurant several chances and tried different times, even on different days of the week. To no avail. We probably won't be coming back.

There's a wide selection of dishes, but I've had the spare ribs three times already, because they're simply perfect. Be careful, if you're not a big eater, you'll have a hard time with a "full rack" plus potato wedges 😁. But they'll happily pack the rest. Important: It's best to reserve online!

I've eaten at Texas Riverranch several times, and every time I've left with a full stomach! As a little "waiting snack," they always offer small onion rolls with herb butter and a small bucket of peanuts. They're inhaled in no time :D If you want to fill your belly, this is the place for you! You won't get a small plate with a few drops of sauce on it, no, quite the opposite. If you can't manage it, you can always have it wrapped up and taken home. Insanely delicious ribs! The pan dishes are also nice and juicy, and the steaks have always been cooked to perfection. The hamburgers are also highly recommended, especially the nacho bacon and egg mac burger! For dessert, I always get a milkshake with strawberry ice cream, and no other restaurant can beat it! I also have a huge compliment to the service staff; they're all super nice, friendly, totally relaxed, and always attentive! I sometimes feel really sorry for myself when I see how some guests treat them...Some people really don't realize how hard the job can be. It's always worth going there! :)

From 10 months ago: We really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the value for money is good. Please improve the Caesar salad recipe. It looked good but tasted a bit bland (still no point deducted). We'd be happy to come back.
