Taverne Halkis in Herzogenrath

Lured by the many good reviews, I paid a visit to this Asian snack bar...the ambiance is very minimalist and austere...which isn't necessarily a bad thing...but here everything felt a bit like a delivery service...it was a constant flow of people coming and going, orders were being processed over the phone, and in contrast, there wasn't another customer in sight in the dining area itself...cozy looks different...the service was good and attentive, and there were also a few explanations about the dishes...and that brings us to the most important thing...the food. The food was served very quickly...the second course arrived so fast, even before the first had been finished...the wonton soup was completely under-seasoned, or rather, not seasoned at all...it doesn't help that they say: "We don't use MSG"...that's commendable, but then it should have a certain basic flavor even without it...the spring rolls were homemade according to the server...but I've had much better...the main course, which sounded interesting, consisted of deep-fried chicken fillet strips (!) that were unfortunately very dry and tough...barely edible...probably too small pieces and fried for too long...and not enough vegetables...hunger made me eat them...what a shame about the fillet...it looked so promising...the dessert was average, okay...but nothing special...price-wise, it was on the high side for what was offered...so overall, it was a rather disappointing culinary stop...would it have been better with a different dish(es)? Hard to say...

It was our first time at Ufer21. The glass ball was cool, but unfortunately too cold. They should put something on the floor. The food wasn't hot either. The shrimp were very dry. Others had the steak skillet. "Well, it was okay," were the comments.

A very nice pub for darts, well-run. Friendly service, reasonable prices. Peter's Kölsch is a rare find in the Aachen area.

Excellent value for money, delicious food, I can highly recommend it.
