Alles sehr lecker, als hätte jemand mit Liebe für einen selbst gekocht. Genau der Ort, an dem man abschaltet, lacht und viel zu lange sitzen bleibt, weil es sich einfach richtig anfühlt.

Wir waren bereits etwa zehn- bis zwölfmal mit unseren Kindern und Freunden in diesem Restaurant und bisher immer gerne dort. Das Essen war stets gut, die Portionen eher überschaubar, die Preise für einen Grillimbiss durchaus gehoben, aber die Atmosphäre und insbesondere die Gastgeberin haben wir bisher als sehr herzlich erlebt. Bei unserem letzten Besuch ist die Situation leider völlig unnötig eskaliert. Anlass war meine Bemerkung, dass ich 3,90 € für 0,2 l Cola/Fanta/Sprite ziemlich sportlich kalkuliert finde – insbesondere, weil 0,4 l mit 4,80 € nur 90 Cent mehr kosten. Es ging mir weder darum, etwas umsonst zu bekommen, noch darum, über die Rechnung zu diskutieren. Ich habe lediglich die Preisstaffelung angesprochen und hinterfragt. Darauf reagierte die Gastgeberin leider ausgesprochen emotional, laut und konfrontativ. Es folgten zahlreiche Gegenfragen und Bemerkungen, etwa was Getränke in anderen Restaurants oder im Supermarkt kosten würden, was ich denn von ihr wolle und sinngemäß, ob ich das Getränk umsonst haben wolle. Auch die Bemerkung, man könne schließlich billigere Cola ausschenken, ohne dass der Kunde es merke, fiel in diesem Zusammenhang. Da die Auseinandersetzung zunehmend die Aufmerksamkeit anderer Gäste auf sich zog und die Situation meinen Kindern sichtlich unangenehm wurde – meine kleine Tochter fing schließlich sogar an zu weinen –, habe ich bewusst versucht, das Gespräch zu beenden. Ich habe ausdrücklich darauf hingewiesen, dass wir schon lange und gerne dort Gäste sind, bisher immer zufrieden waren, gute Qualität auch gerne bezahlen und auch zukünftig gerne wiederkommen würden. Mein Vorschlag war ganz ausdrücklich: Schwamm drüber, wir lassen das jetzt gut sein und möchten einfach unser Essen genießen. Leider war die Angelegenheit damit nicht beendet. Wenig später wurde die Situation in der Küche bzw. gegenüber Mitarbeitern erneut so lautstark besprochen, dass wir sie draußen hören konnten. Dabei wurde zudem behauptet, mir sei die große 0,4-l-Cola zu teuer. Genau darum ging es aber überhaupt nicht – gerade deren Preis von 4,80 € hatte ich nicht beanstandet. Daraufhin habe ich nochmals deutlich darum gebeten, die Sache jetzt wirklich zu beenden und endlich Ruhe zu geben. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt fiel es mir verständlicherweise zunehmend schwer, selbst völlig ruhig zu bleiben. Trotzdem war mir wichtig, dass beide Seiten gesichtswahrend aus dieser unnötigen Situation herauskommen und der Abend mit den Kindern nicht noch weiter eskaliert. Kurz darauf hörte ich am unmittelbar benachbarten Tisch, an dem offenbar bekannte Stammgäste saßen, von der Gastgeberin noch die Bemerkung „nervige Kunden“. Ob damit zweifelsfrei wir gemeint waren, kann ich natürlich nicht beweisen. Aufgrund des unmittelbaren zeitlichen Zusammenhangs hinterließ es allerdings einen entsprechend unangenehmen Eindruck. Besonders schade finde ich den Vorfall deshalb, weil wir dieses Restaurant bislang wirklich gerne besucht haben. Niemand muss mit der Meinung eines Gastes über seine Preisgestaltung übereinstimmen, und selbstverständlich kann ein Restaurant seine Preise selbst festlegen. Umgekehrt sollte ein Gast aber auch sagen dürfen, dass er 3,90 € für 0,2 l Cola, Fanta, Sprite bei gleichzeitig 4,80 € für 0,4 l auch im Vergleich mit den Getränkepreisen anderer guter griechischer Restaurants in der Gegend ungewöhnlich hoch findet, ohne dass daraus eine persönliche und lautstarke Auseinandersetzung entsteht. Eine kurze souveräne Antwort hätte vollkommen ausgereicht. Stattdessen wurde aus einer beiläufigen kritischen Bemerkung eine für mich und insbesondere für meine Kinder sehr unangenehme Situation. Das Essen war auch an diesem Abend gut. Umso bedauerlicher ist, dass nicht die Qualität des Essens, sondern der Umgang mit einem kritischen Hinweis als bleibender Eindruck dieses Restaurantbesuchs zurückbleibt.

Das Essen war hervorragend, die Besitzerin jedoch extrem unhöflich und unreif. Sie reagierte bei der kleinsten Kleinigkeit sichtlich genervt und wollte keine Lösungsvorschläge hören, sondern rügte stattdessen jeden in unserer Gruppe. Eine Gastgeberin sollte dafür sorgen, dass sich die Gäste willkommen fühlen, stattdessen gab sie uns das Gefühl, ihr zur Last zu fallen. Absolut nicht empfehlenswert.

Wir waren absolut begeistert von unserem Besuch in der Taverna Amfipolis! Besonders hervorheben möchte ich das unglaublich leckere Gyros – perfekt gewürzt, saftig und in Kombination mit den frischen Beilagen einfach ein Genuss. Man merkt sofort, dass hier viel Wert auf Qualität und Geschmack gelegt wird. Auch das Personal war durchweg sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich. Everything is good to very good. For beer drinkers, the price is perfectly fine. Wine drinkers, on the other hand, have to dig deep into their pockets. Even when we made our reservation for three people over the phone, we were treated with exceptional friendliness and attention – which immediately made a good impression. Upon entering, we were initially a bit surprised: From the outside and at first glance, Taverna Amfipolis looks almost like a small snack bar, as the restaurant is really not large and has only a few tables. But: The size doesn't reflect the quality here! The couple who run it gave us a warm welcome; you immediately feel welcome and like you're staying with friends. We opted for the platter for three people, which was truly generously loaded with various meats and plenty of side dishes (fries, potatoes, rice). We started with a large salad with feta cheese – fresh, crisp, and delicious. A real highlight was the tzatziki – with cucumber and garlic, creamy and simply unbelievably good! Accompanying dishes were fine beers – perfectly chilled and perfect for the meal. A particularly charming touch: They offered ouzo on the house several times – before the meal, during the meal, and at the end. This created a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere, and we simply sat together and enjoyed the evening. Summary: A small, down-to-earth Greek restaurant with a lot of heart and excellent food. Wir entschieden uns für die Platte für drei Personen, die mit verschiedenen Fleischsorten und reichlich Beilagen (Pommes, Kartoffeln, Reis) wirklich großzügig bestückt war. Vorweg gab es eine große Salatplatte mit Schafskäse – frisch, knackig, lecker. Ein echtes Highlight war der Tzaziki – mit Gurke und Knoblauch, cremig und einfach unglaublich gut! Dazu gab’s gepflegte Biere – perfekt gekühlt und passend zum Essen. Besonders charmant: es gab mehrmals einen Ouzo aufs Haus – vor dem Essen, zwischendurch und zum Abschluss. So entstand eine lockere, fröhliche Stimmung und wir haben einfach nett zusammengesessen und den Abend genossen. Fazit: Ein kleines, bodenständiges griechisches Restaurant mit viel Herz und hervorragendem Essen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

After a change of operator with - in my opinion - the wrong beer supplier: exclusively Krombacher, no longer acceptable. Therefore, I can't comment on the service or food. One more thing... the "welcome ouzo" has shrunk from 2cl to 1cl. Update 2025: First of all... the ouzo "frugality" is no longer valid. It has given way to more of an ouzo "glut." I've come to terms with the beer on offer and have been a regular since 2019, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. The food is delicious and can be varied as desired. Making a reservation avoids wasted trips, as it's always busy.
