It's nice to see the comparison that the Taumi in FR is also great 😉 Weekday evenings, not much going on, nice service, always good to do and value for money here! Gladly again 👍

I know I'm a big eater but after two main meals I wasn't full. The table next to me was a group of 8, 1 came later but had not received anything after an hour. In the meantime I had ordered and received my second main meal and half finished it. Homemade ginger drink didn't remind me of ginger, not even spicy. The Udon is very good, but what it comes with is mediocre.

The staff was very nice and even though it was busy you were served straight away Drinks and appetizers came immediately. We had sushi platter for two Everything was fresh and they didn't skimp on the salmon. The sushi rolls were large. The only thing that was disturbing and was immediately noticed in such a beautiful atmosphere was the dusty flower decoration with cobwebs. Otherwise everything was great 👌🏻

We discovered this restaurant by chance. And they were happy. Very tasty, large selection and reasonable prices. I will definitely come here again and recommend it to my friends.

Modern and tasty Asian cuisine without folklore with good prices and a varied menu, nice staff and convenient location. Medium price segment, sufficient portions. Recommendation!

I almost never give 5* in advance! The food tasted very good. No matter whether it is one of our starters or one of the main courses or even sushi. At first glance the ambience is very stylish, but at a restaurant in this price range I expect there to be real plants on the tables and not plastic ones. The same applies to the tubes. Why these cardboard things instead of glass or stainless steel? However, according to my wife, the condition of the women's toilet was bad. And we were there on a Sunday lunchtime and the activity was limited.

It was our first time here and we had a sushi platter for two. Very tasty 😋 we were definitely not here for the last time.

It was quite quiet at lunch (Monday). The food came super quickly and tasted delicious. The service was absolutely fine and we were overall satisfied!

Service was very friendly, but there were no questions asking if you wanted another drink, even though you had been sitting in front of an empty glass for a long time. There were also no questions about dessert, espresso, etc. The ambience was nice, but the room is already very large Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing in terms of spices/taste, especially if you are familiar with Vietnamese and Thai cuisine from those countries. Unfortunately, the seasoning was only average and the Pho Ga was very bland. Except for the duck, which was delicious. At €71.60 for 2 people for 2 starters, 2 main courses and 3 non-alcoholic drinks, I expect better service and less mass processing. Maybe the cook at our meal was just having a bad day, but yeah. However, I am disappointed with today's meal.

The taste of the food was OK. Service unfortunately a bit disappointing... Had to get my drink 4!! order it because it was actually always forgotten. Even when we wanted numbers, it took forever. There were 5 tables in the restaurant and 2 tables on the terrace, so how could it take so long...?

I've eaten at Taumi many times. Both in the evening and often for lunch. The food was always very good, especially the sushi platters are highly recommended. The platters are visually very attractively arranged and there is no skimping on fish. The kindness of the gentleman who almost always serves us is particularly noteworthy.

We were there on Sunday evening with 8 people. The staff was very polite. Drinks arrived super quickly as did the very tasty appetizers. The main courses were also very good and were delivered quickly. The prices are appropriate for the portions. All in all a great restaurant.

Restaurant worth visiting with excellent cuisine and a contemporary urban ambience. We were there for a spontaneous lunch. Even the inexpensive lunch menu offers an appealing selection of delicious dishes, with both warm and cold options. Both the portion size and the excellent quality can be seen as decisive for the FR region. The selection of drinks also left nothing to be desired and was rounded off by the courteous and attentive service. We will soon try the à la carte offer.

Starter was very tasty, hence the 2 stars. At Surf and Turf, the steak was well done instead of medium, the sauce tasted like gingerbread and pepper and didn't go well with the shrimp. Sauce was way too spicy for the dish to be marked as not spicy.

Really overpriced for the quality. Starting from the water 6.50€. We ended up paying 40€/person for a really average meal. Location is big, but nothing more.

The sushi was passable and certainly nowhere near the sushi standards I've had in Canada. The salmon did not taste fresh and the California roll was the worst I've ever had. Of the 5 dishes we ordered, the only decent sushi was the Crispy Tiger. Sushi fish quality is always hit or miss and understandably could be hard to source in Germany. But what made things worse was that the service was horrible. The waitress did not seem knowledgeable about what was in the menu and even messed up our order, serving a chicken crunchy roll instead of the veggie crunchy roll we'd ordered for our vegetarian friend. Overall I would not recommend this place if you're purely looking for good sushi. But if you're looking for a place with a variety of Asian cuisine options then it might be a good option.

Taumi is really one of my favorite restaurants in Freiburg. The sushi is really delicious and inexpensive. I recommend crunchy veggie, it's really delicious for vegetarian sushi 😉. The service was also super nice and the decor was very nice. The store is really recommended.

Sushi very tasty. For me, the mixed menus are missing at least one option for one person but several different sushi rolls. Of course you can put something together yourself. The plate in the picture makes my opinion. With appropriate starters, 3 people are full.

Staff are friendly and accomadating and also speak English. Useful for those who can't speak a lot of German.

I live nearby and eat or order from Taumi very often. We were always very satisfied, but recently the quality of the food has declined more and more! When we last ordered sushi a week ago, we could only eat the vegetarian sushi because the fish smelled so strong. The seaweed paper also tasted old and you couldn't chew it properly. I think it just wasn't fresh anymore.

We were there at lunchtime. There wasn't much going on yet so we had our food in no time. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was super tasty. I can only recommend it!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is also nice. My companion ate sushi and thought it was “okay”, I took the vegan noodles. These were “swimming” in a kind of teriyaki sauce, I didn’t like it and had to leave half of it. The vegetables were basically raw, maybe that's how it should be, but it wasn't for me. Lt. The non-alcoholic Pils was supposed to have 0.5 liters on the menu, but a bottle actually came with 0.33. I haven't checked the bill, but I assume that the price was charged according to the card. Unfortunately I can't recommend the food.

Under the guise of 'fusion' you can put anything on the table, seems to be the motto here. Japanese udon was very unbalanced in taste, just bitter vegetables in an equally bitter sake-butter sauce. Seen Vietnamese pho without fresh herbs for the first time. Sushi was nicely presented, but the taste was very mediocre. Kitchen staff who came to serve seemed nicer than the wait staff themselves. The bill ended up not being worth what we got. We'll skip it next time.

Amazing food and the restaurant is beautifully decorated

Taumi was a good place to get sushi but it wasn't anything out of this world and was quite pricey. We paid 80€ all together for four rolls and two drinks. The drinks were good but again nothing special. They were gone quite fast. The sushi tasted pretty fresh but was not very memorable. The smoke on our plate felt like it was catering to instagram. There are places we like better in Freiburg so we won't be coming back. The restaurant was under construction so the food was made outside but we were able to sit inside while it was raining. I appreciated that they had decent bathrooms outside instead of just plain portable toilets.

The food is good but the waiters are extremely unfriendly. My family and I went there 3-4 times because we liked the food and because we live next door. Unfortunately, the unfriendly conditions were repeated over and over again... we won't be coming back!

Actually, we have always been satisfied with the quality of the food. There was little food left and my husband noticed a fruit fly in the food. Stopped eating and said it straight away. Also, not to mention it next to the other guests, towards the waitress at the back. Unfortunately, no insight was shown and of course people immediately asked why he had eaten so much. My husband explained it to her and she just asked him if he wanted something to drink. When we were paying, another waitress was sent to us (intentionally?!), but we asked and was offered a lemonade on the house. A bit cheeky but of course you don't want to start a discussion in front of so many people. The table behind us had complained about the quality of the food and only one drink was on the house at the request of the guests. It could probably be due to the construction site and because people are cooking outside - but we as guests can't do anything about that. Very disappointing.

Sushi chain. Basically McDonald's for sushi. The menu says nigiri with anago. I asked the waitress whether it was really Anago or Unagi. She explained to me that unagi is not a fish but a sauce. Nobody knew that Anago is a saltwater eel and Unagi is a freshwater eel. Well...Mc Stupid. At least I didn't have any diarrhea.

Currently under renovation. Nevertheless, the food tastes very good and the service is great. The vegan selection could be larger (Asian cuisine offers so much) but we found what we were looking for. Communication with the staff worked wonderfully, I know it differently. Taking dogs is allowed

Great sushi and very nice service. Also beautifully prepared. Only the menu is a bit of a mess. In three menus other things were crossed out, but they were still there. But the nice service cleared everything up. It's currently being remodeled, the ambience is ok, but hopefully it'll be great afterwards.

Highly priced with a construction site flair. Despite obvious efforts, the food wasn't as good as on our previous visits - there was no comparison in terms of the ambience anyway. Disappointment due to the lack of transparency when making reservations by telephone.

Terrible! I am traveling alone and want to have some big meal on my birthday last Friday so I came to this restaurant. I ordered steak with shrimp for like 25EUR and they all give me the fat of beef, 5%meat and 95%fat 🤷🏻‍♂️, nothing can cut and eat... I am super angry as I am looking forward this meal to celebrate birthday alone but this restaurant ruined my mode and I just paid and leave... Dont order the steak! Super low quality

Mega cheap and really great quality I like to drive half an hour here to eat.

Unfortunately a bad experience... We've been to Taumi several times and it got worse from time to time. For our current visit, I made a reservation in advance (during the week, in the evening). When we arrived we were initially very surprised that the actual restaurant was closed - there is a beer tent and an outdoor kitchen instead. Luckily the weather was good, as this was not mentioned on the website or when we made the reservation. When we arrived our spot wasn't available yet. We were somewhat rudely asked to sit on the side. We were then rudely given the cards by the boss and told us to choose. After a short wait (perfectly acceptable) we were asked to sit at the table in the stuffy tent, luckily on the edge. Within 10 minutes we were asked 4 times emphatically what we would like to order, even though we still had both cards open and were actively looking. The cards have evolved from a chic, modern design to “normal” cards. Basically not bad, but some of the pages were very dirty. The drinks came quite quickly - but were also the trigger for this review. There was a beetle floating in my partner's drink - and not on top, but in the middle of it, so that it was sucked up through the (thick) straw. The reaction from the staff was not particularly professional. At first there was the reaction “that’s a shame,” until the boss came along, who initially didn’t show any reaction. Decided not to eat raw fish there and to ask for the bill, we were at least waived for the two drinks. Anyway Unfortunately, there is really no recommendation at the moment.

Always very tasty, especially the fried sushi 🤤

We ordered food for pickup via the website. The process was smooth and punctual. The food was very tasty. However, a little bit of rice as a side dish.

It was very tasty all you can eat and can be highly recommended

Sashimi was good, the slices of tuna were larger than average, quality was also ok. The sushi was also ok, the salmon wasn't completely separated from the skin, but the taste and freshness were ok. The main course was served in the middle of the starter 😳, even though I had explained 3 times what I wanted to have served as a starter or main course. Main course was fried udon noodles with prawns, these were a disaster. Cooked udon in roux with frozen shrimp and pak choi, that has nothing to do with the description on the menu. Nothing was fried here, everything was floating in the flour mush and tasted of nothing. When asked what it was supposed to be, the waitress pleaded with us to give it a rating. She also seems to no longer have access to the boss, seemed very desperate to me. Very strange restaurant experience, I strongly advise against it. PS: A glass of Riesling was included on the house

Overall, my visit to Taumi Freiburg - Asia Fusion was a culinary journey that I can only recommend to everyone. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Delicious food, super friendly service, we enjoyed it and will definitely be back

Here you can have a cheap lunch with great dishes (e.g. beef fillet, which tastes as good as a fillet) from late noon (until 4 p.m.)!

This review is based on one visit and the sushi only. We had the plate shown "Robu Invasion" for 59€ with 48 pieces which is advertised for two people and were well full. The presentation with plastic flowers, dry ice and strange LED lights is not convincing. At least there is enough wasabi, but it is already dried out on the edges, just like the tuna on one of the 3 nigiri. The menu says 6 nigiri for this platter! They seem to replace the non-existent nigiri with some salmon sashimi. I found small remains of the intestines on the shrimp, but otherwise the taste wasn't bad. However, with the best will in the world, I couldn't see anything fused. Due to the renovation, we were sitting outside in a tent, but I didn't think that was a bad thing for the summer. However, the cards were very worn and partly dirty. I would also prefer reusable chopsticks.

Price is ok but the quality of sushi has degraded

We are in Freiburg for a weekend and wanted to try the restaurant. We got a table at 8 p.m. We were also able to order promptly. The meat and duck didn't come as ordered. The meat was supposed to be medium rare but was rare and medium rare at the ends. The duck was supposed to be done but came medium rare. Portions were also quite small. The food came BEFORE the drinks even though we only ordered a cocktail and a smoothie. All in all, €65. The ambience was quite nicely decorated.

Been here several times, even with a larger group (10 people) and it was always delicious. Good selection, quick preparation. Prices raised. Starter is recommended as the main courses are not super big.

Best sushi in Germany, nothing can beat Taumi <3

There were two of us and we shared an appetizer platter. This consisted almost entirely of a pile of edamame and little else. Afterwards we had, among other things, the prawn noodles, which were very bland and carelessly prepared. The price just isn't right for the whole thing, but we would have expected more.

While eating sushi and duck, I noticed that the prices went up, which is understandable. However, the portions are now significantly smaller, especially the duck portion, which was estimated to only contain around 100g of meat and a handful of vegetables. The teriyaki sauce tasted burnt, and the sushi didn't seem adequate for the price. The service was also disappointing as we had to wait 30 minutes before we finally made our way to the checkout ourselves. Unfortunately we can no longer recommend it, although we enjoyed coming here. There are good alternatives within reach.

Not enough selection, no real Chinese food

Disappointingly low quality of food and service, unfortunately. All three of the dishes my group ordered were underspiced, undersalted, and lacked flavor. Small portions of rice to complement the dishes, and we were charged €2.50 per person for requesting more rice. €7 for the appetizer of three tiny spring rolls also left us feeling shorted. In addition, the service here was inattentive despite my group’s ability to operate in both German and English. So, we didn’t feel we could do anything about the disappointing food.

The sushis are so good and a super quality, we ordered a little bit too late but they still did our order and welcomed us super nicely . It was fast and the service was great. I will come back

The best sushi far and wide, in my opinion, and the other dishes have also always impressed us very much. We drive far to eat at Taumi but it's worth it every time! The service and ambience are great, but you have to be patient and not have a particularly small wallet. Nonetheless, it's always a highlight for us and we'll definitely come back often! Thank you that you exist!

Sushi was good but unfortunately we waited a long time for 3 main courses and in the end one of them was still raw. Even after it was returned, the dish was only fried briefly and served raw again. We didn't eat the steak and it was taken off the bill after we said it again. But that didn't really help because I was still hungry. The ambience makes a good impression despite the renovations

PRICES ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN IN THE MENU HERE

Four of us had dinner yesterday. The atmosphere is very nice and the food was also delicious. The plate language was nice. The service staff were also very nice. Unfortunately, the menu online does not match the menu on site. The content and design cannot be found locally. That's why there's no point in looking at the menu online and possibly choosing a dish. On site you will find a menu in transparent film with stains, and some dishes have been crossed out with a pen. The sauce was forgotten in one out of four meals. Furthermore, the plates were cold, so the food got cold relatively quickly. The sauce was brought later, but the waiting time didn't make the food any warmer. Of course, you sometimes forgive certain little things. Apparently a restructuring of the map is also taking place. But if this happens, it should also be made clear. I pay for the full service here, so I would like to receive the full service. The price-performance ratio is therefore not right for me at all. In total we left €200 behind. There will be no further visit for the time being. Therefore only two stars at the moment.

Very bad service and long waiting times

The wall next to our table was full of splatters and there were cobwebs on the picture frame on the wall. Final dishes on the menu were not available, but this will be pointed out if you choose such a dish. So choose again from the beginning. The drinks were only brought after the starter. The main course was absolutely not worth the money. Service was friendly. We paid €70 for two people, but the Taumi was a huge disappointment. Would definitely not go there again. (For that money you can get e.g. 11.7 fish rolls, 70.7 blue gloves from Coburg or 24.1 Elsa frames elsewhere)

Unfortunately we didn't have good experiences here. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our sushi, which unfortunately wasn't worth it and sat in front of empty glasses for 20 minutes, and we also got the wrong drink. The service staff and the chefs were completely overwhelmed by the rush of guests and to-go orders. I don't understand why they offer so many places if they can't be managed. All in all, far too expensive for what you get.

Extremely disappointed with my visit. Not even my drink arrived, let alone my food. No apology or explanation from the staff despite a 50 minute wait. That was an absolute no-go, especially on a Tuesday when it wasn't even particularly crowded. Very disappointing Never again!!!!

Very extensive menu with Asian dishes. The curry with beef was just right for our taste! “Cow on the meadow” is visually and tastefully a poem! The staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. Absolute recommendation for the Taumi!

We ordered the Nigiri Deluxe (which was initially forgotten, so not shown in the picture) and a menu. Then another Maki set. I'm a bit unsure about price-performance. The sushi is very good, especially the nigiri, but I find almost 3 euros for a nigiri a bit expensive. The menu is more worthwhile. The futomakis were super tasty, and the rice wasn't too full and sticky, so you could taste the fish well. The makis were also very good and the maki menu was quite reasonably priced! Highly recommended for an evening for two or more. Still not exactly cheap. It has to be an event too.

Disappointing experience at this restaurant. The waiters were consistently rude, and the host's behavior was unacceptable. Instead of providing assistance, the host shouted at me for not closing the door. Not the welcoming atmosphere one expects. Also, the curry was overly sweet and below average. Additionally, the sushi served on one plate for two people was inconvenient, impacting both taste and presentation. I do not recommend and will not visit again!

Reserved a table for 6pm with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. However, when we got there we were given a card with a Valentine's Day menu and told that you couldn't order anything from the regular menu. Because I eat vegan, I asked at the beginning if there was anything vegan on the menu and there was. However, when we ordered our menu at around 6:15 p.m., I specifically asked the waitress whether the “Love Tapas” starter was vegan. It just said that it consisted of “edamame, dumpling, summer rolls, gyoza and spring rolls”. The waitress simply nodded and said yes. So we thought nothing of it and ordered that. When we got the starter, we were surprised at first because only one plate came and there was nothing on the menu that said it was the starter for both people. We were even more disappointed by what was done to us. The starter consisted of a total of two spring rolls, two gyozas, two dumplings and a handful of edamame and not a single summer roll, as it said on the menu, and that for two people! My friend (eats meat) tried it first because it looked kind of suspicious to me and it turned out that none of it was vegan, apart from the edamame. For the main course, my friend chose the rip eye steak and, since I had no other choice, I chose the tofu curry. Now came the next disappointment: after we finished our starters at around 6:30 p.m., we had to wait over an hour for our food! Only after I went to the waitress did we get our food within five minutes. The tofu curry was a bit weak but quite ok, but my friend's dish wasn't that good. With the steak there was a teriyaki sauce with a few vegetables, which tasted pretty burnt, and two tablespoons of mashed sweet potatoes, which tasted pretty sour, as if it was no longer good. When our plates were brought out, we were asked directly if we would like dessert and we said yes. At that point it was already shortly before 8 p.m. We had to wait another 30 minutes until we got dessert. We only got it because I asked about the condition again, otherwise we would probably have waited another hour for it. Unfortunately the dessert wasn't for me, but my friend got it instead. There was one scoop of matcha ice cream per person with chocolate sauce (but the menu said lava cake, as far as I can remember) and 3-4 small fruits. After we finished dessert, we wanted to pay directly. So we told one condition and it said it would come soon. After ten minutes she still didn't come and then did something else. So the same thing again, I told the waitress to whom I had already complained that we would like to pay and we were able to do so within two minutes. At least we didn't have to pay for the drinks (a large cola and blackcurrant juice) since we had to wait so long. Nevertheless, I think it's extreme to charge €39 per person, it really ruined our evening and after we were there for two hours, we couldn't go to the thermal bath as planned. Very unfortunate...

Where should I start… I made reservations a week earlier for Valentine's Day. (Nothing was said about a menu when making the reservation) When we arrived on that day, the staff gave us a card with the “Valentine’s Day menu” this turned out to be a complete rip-off. The cheapest meal cost €39 p/p. Requests for small changes were not addressed (chicken instead of salmon). It was also not possible to order sushi twice for one person. Instead you were forced to order a large platter for a total of €90 instead of €78 for two people. The starter was inedible. The dessert (1 scoop of ice cream) for the menu price of €45 was also a disgrace. The sushi was also partly warm?! The Taumi lost a customer as a result.

We are, so to speak, regular customers here. The food is fantastic, as is everything around it. Unfortunately we were very disappointed yesterday on Valentine's Day. We had reserved well in advance for this. When we arrived yesterday we were only offered two completely overpriced and very limited menus. Like others who arrived at the same time, we were very disappointed and left. That was a bit cheeky. We would have had to pay twice as much as usual. Unfortunately, we couldn't find an alternative and had to order food at home. Taumi ruined our evening a bit, and quite surprisingly. We are actually used to top quality and service here. So we'll be back, but certainly not on Valentine's Day or other holidays. We will probably observe the performance a little more closely on our future visits and initially the unpleasant situation will remain in our memories. But well, the sushi is just simple 🤌🏽

We had made reservations for Valentine's Day about 2 weeks in advance and were really looking forward to our evening at Taumi. When we arrived on time, we were given a card with the information that there was only food available today. The so-called Valentine's Day menu cost 49 euros per person, a slightly cheaper non-sushi alternative was 39 euros per person. When I asked whether the menus were also available in vegetarian form, as my companion was vegetarian, the reply was “yes, that includes salmon and tuna”. Again we asked if there was anything other than a vegetarian alternative, but unfortunately we were told that was the only thing available today. We were neither informed when we made the reservation nor were we contacted in advance to let us know, and there was no information about it on the website. We left the restaurant very disappointed. Spontaneously getting a table on Valentine's Day - you can imagine...
