Very tasty food and an owner who takes a lot of time for his guests. Absolute recommendation!

Really GREAT food all around, and the customer service is immaculate! My favorite is the fried paneer, everything is always so fresh!

I was there yesterday with my girlfriend. Keller/boss was particularly nice and gave us his recommendations, taking our wishes into account. Food came quickly, not a long wait. We had a starter, chicken curry and naan bread, all delicious. A "greeting from the kitchen" with 3 sauces/dips was included free of charge. There was also a lassi for dessert. Price-performance ratio is also great. We were more than full. We'd love to come back.

We have rarely had such excellent Indian food and would definitely come here more often if we lived nearby. Service, advice regarding vegan dishes, we felt very comfortable. You can tell that the chef loves his job. In any case, we were overeaten, but very happy.

I had dinner there yesterday with my daughter. We were surprised, the food was fantastic, the service was extremely friendly - there is something on the menu for everyone. Vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes are well-balanced and well-represented. We will definitely come back.

My wife and I happened to be guests at the Taste of India on January 9th, 2024, one of the few restaurants that were open at lunchtime in Idar-Oberstein. Located on a side street a little out of the way and rather inconspicuous from the outside, we were warmly greeted by the owner when we entered the restaurant. When choosing starters, he recommended the “Manchurian” dish, an absolute hit, as it turned out a short time later. The main course, lamb and chicken from the tandoor oven, were also delicious. We were offered another schnapps, which we declined. Overall, the stay was very good and the owner, who is a chef himself, always took the time to talk to us and introduce us to the Indian dishes. We'd love to come back.

The restaurant doesn't look particularly appealing from the outside, but inside you're pleasantly surprised: new furniture, new flooring and a very friendly owner. The food was very tasty, I love the Indian spices. The starter “Manchurian” vegetable balls was recommended to me by the owner and tasted very good. For the main course we had “Chicken Karahi” and “Navaratan Korma”. Both meals were very tasty and, above all, very well seasoned, not too spicy or mild, as requested. I can absolutely recommend the restaurant and will definitely try the other dishes.

Very tasty dishes, whether spicy or mild, with or without meat or vegan, you can tell the chef your wishes or simply order from the menu. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere and comfortable chairs. I've been here several times and each time I chose a different dish based on the boss's recommendation and what can I say, it was just great. The dish was not only wonderful in terms of taste but also visually. We'll definitely be back.

Last week we had a delicious meal at Taste of India in Oberstein (Idar-Oberstein). Good portions, Good tasty dishes. In our opinion, recommended if you want to eat real Indian dishes.

The food was very good and the atmosphere was nice BUT there is inadequate food labeling for allergy sufferers. Had to leave my child's food (nut allergy) and asked for all the ingredients when asked Hence the few stars. If you are not an allergy sufferer...recommended It's a shame for the nice evening we planned 😢

Error 1: mixed up with other table, we had to wait for more than 1 hour with 2 very hungry kids. Error 2: instead of saying there has been a mistake right away and give us something during our extensive waiting time, they just said it after the whole delay. Error 3: they said they had french fries and we ordered. But it appeared they had not. And the average portion is small compared to what we have in France, which is not known for being really large... The taste is good though. But the way they handled their scramble is unacceptable.

The food was very tasty and thanks to the very friendly advice, you can easily judge the level of spiciness of each dish yourself. This is how you can enjoy it even if you like spicy food. Thanks to the very successful spice combinations, the food is not heavy on the stomach. A visit is always worthwhile.

Super tasty food, nice owners, you get a nice explanation of exactly what you're ordering, great advice. After the meal there was Shani Pan Mukhwas for the breath which I found very nice! I have never eaten such delicious and authentic food here in the area! The whole stay was definitely an experience. We will be back!

A nice, not too kitschy restaurant, with an extremely friendly operator who is happy to explain everything to you if you are not yet very familiar with Indian cuisine. His recommendations were great and almost all dishes can be prepared mildly here. The food was extremely tasty and we can say that we were completely satisfied here 😊😊😊👍

Simply great, great food, great service

A MUST-TRY FOR EVERY IDAR-OBERSTEINER. I ate with my family at the "Taste of India" restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised at the entrance to the restaurant. It was very nicely decorated, and not kitschy like every Indian restaurant, overcrowded with decorations and carpet. As we sat down, the owner came over to serve us. He also gave us an appetizer, a papadum with chutney for each person. A restaurant always has its weaknesses somewhere, I thought, but that wasn't the case this time. Everything went smoothly and the boss told us a lot of things about the restaurant. The hosts were very nice and the taste of the food cannot be described in words. It was a flavor explosion. Among other things, the atmosphere was very pleasant and we all felt comfortable in the very comfortable chairs. It was the first time, but definitely not the last time.

Went there based on a recommendation. We received a very friendly welcome and were brought to the table. Because on a Monday the culinary delights in Idar Oberstein are probably paused, which everyone is entitled to. Great selection of dishes, I had a hard time deciding, but I ordered absolutely the right dishes. The main course, No. 83, was great. Nice aroma...we'll be back. Thank you for the hospitality

Great food at good prices in an authentic atmosphere (as I can judge it as an India layman). The service was always friendly and gave us good advice and explained what we were eating/ordering. We haven't been to a better Indian in the area.

INDIAN DELICACIES We have eaten at Taste of India several times and we enjoyed it very much every time. The food is authentically seasoned and always freshly prepared. Still, it doesn't take too long. For some of my friends and family members it was a real experience. Tip: The Mango Lassi with fresh mangoes is a treat that you can't miss. The restaurant's service is quick, friendly and explains the dishes if necessary. The ambience has an Indian touch and is extremely clean. We enjoyed our stay at Taste of India and will continue to come to enjoy the delicious Indian food.

Ordered takeaway for lunch and everyone was very happy. The taste is great and the price/performance ratio is totally fine. The boss was super friendly and also gave tips/recommendations. The restaurant itself is also very inviting, so I will definitely come back to eat there again.

We visited this restaurant for the first time today. We received a very warm welcome, the owner is extremely friendly and was also able to give a great recommendation. Super friendly service. If there is time, someone would be happy to explain something about the dishes. So don't be put off if you've never had Indian food before ♡ The food was hot and super tasty. We tried different appetizers with 5 people and we were all thrilled. The main courses were also really good. From vegetarian to non vegetarian. Something for everyone. Dessert couldn't be missed either. My favorite: Mango Lassi. It's classified as a non-alcoholic drink and definitely fits in 😉 Be sure to reserve tables in advance. On Saturday evening it was so full that there wasn't even room for two people at peak time. We will go there more often now ♡ Thanks

Das Essen ist fantastisch und der Service ist super. Es gibt so viele Gerichte aus denen man wählen kann und man kann schön sitzen.

Wir waren am Samstag mit der Familie dort. Tolles Essen und sehr nettes Personal. Ich hatte Lamm Korma und wir haben uns gemeinsam die gemischte vegetarische Vorspeisenplatte geteilt. Es hat alles wirklich fantastisch geschmeckt. Ich werde zu 100 Prozent wieder kommen.

Sehr lecker, top service und schöne atmosphere. Wir hatten butter chicker, fisch karahi und chicken tikka nawabi.

Mittlerweile bin ich dort fast Stammkunde. Das Essen ist jedes Mal wirklich wirklich gut. Ganz egal, ob ich vor Ort bestelle oder mir etwas zum Mitnehmen hole. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist überdurchschnittlich gut. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und geht flexibel auf die Wünsche ein. Einfach richtig gute Gastgeber. Ich bestelle immer die Variante ,,scharf‘‘ und vertrage das ohne Probleme, wobei ich aber auch sagen muss, dass ich gerne etwas schärfer esse. ,,Mild‘‘ ist wirklich sehr sehr mild. Jedenfalls ist für jeden etwas dabei:)

Nettes Personal, super leckeres Essen.

Echt super und sehr lecker. Essen ist seinen Preis wert und reichlich. Leider muss ich heute noch dazu schreiben das es nicht mehr so toll ist wie es mal war.😥😥 Zuviel Soße, kaum noch Fleisch und zuviel Reis. Auch der Mangolassi(Dessertgetränk) ist nicht mehr das was er mal war. Für 5 Würfelchen Hähnchenfleisch und viel Soße ohne Reis 14.90 € ist doch einwenig zu teuer.

Das Essen war hervorragend und die Arbeiter sind sehr Gastfreundlich.

Die Speisekarte ist reichhaltig und die Speisen sind dem europäischem Gaumen entsprechend etwas entschärft. Ausserdem ist das Personal sehr freundlich und erklärt auch unaufgefordert die Gerichte, die mir dann auch sehr gut geschmeckt haben. Zum Abschluss gibt es dann noch ein Gratis Obstschnaps oder Likör. Wer also mal etwas anderes speisen möchte, dem kann ich dieses Lokal empfehlen.

Habe was zum abholen bestellt. Hat auch alles super geklappt. Essen war geschmacklich gut, allerdings war der Saucenanteil im Verhältnis zum Reis sehr gering.

Das Restaurant ist zwar noch nicht lange da, aber nach 3-maligem Besuch muss ich feststellen, dass es, mit großem Abstand, das Beste der Stadt ist. Spartenübergreifend reicht dem Koch niemand das Wasser.

Besitzer sind total nett und empfehlen einem Gerichte, erzählen was es alles gibt. Sind sehr aufmerksam. Essen verdammt lecker! Muss man unbedingt probieren!!!

Wow. So stelle ich mir einen Kurztripp nach Indien in Idar-Oberstein vor. Angefangen beim sehr sympathischen Chef, der Empfehlungen ausspricht ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Über das Ambiente und die Inneneinrichtung die sehr geschmackvoll renoviert wurde. Und dann folgt das Highlight: das Essen. Zubereitet von einem indischen Koch, ohne Fertig-Gewürz-Mischungen. Alles frisch und genau mit der Geschmacksvielfalt die man sich bei indischem Essen wünscht. Eigentlich hat man Lust am nächsten Tag nochmal hinzugehen usw. bis man die Karte einmal rauf und runter gegessen hat.
