Tante Giulia in Göttingen

The salad is a pre-mixed salad, as the staff member told us. Since we wanted it without arugula, this wasn't possible. The dressing is a matter of taste, but not our cup of tea. The pizza is oven-baked, well-crafted but tasteless and lacking in flavor (I had the Fabrizio with homemade salsiccia for €16).

A great, cozy Italian restaurant with a somewhat unique menu in Göttingen. Always popular with couples or small groups, less suitable for larger gatherings. In summer, there are also lovely outdoor seating areas in the pedestrian zone.

The pizza was really tasty with fresh ingredients, the dough was amazing. We liked the interior, however it might be a bit uncomfortable if you have to sit at the bar. The service was good, but not excellent, as the waiters might ask you to leave because they need your seats (that were not reserved beforehand). All in all, definitely worth visiting for the great pizza.

It was okay so far, but we were there in the early afternoon and there was only pizza left to choose from. There are only three stars for the service because we were specifically seated in a completely empty restaurant so that the two of us didn't occupy a table for four. That didn't seem to make much sense to us.

Impudence! We came in around 6 p.m. today and sat down at the bar and said that we needed some time and wouldn't be ready in an hour. After about 1.5 hours a waiter came up to us and while the shop was suddenly full, there were two of us!!!! Put in front of the door because the place was probably reserved! How can it be that two people who were there before everything else are simply thrown out the door?!?!!?! Absolute impudence, never experienced anything so underground!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!! Absolutely NOT recommended unless you like being thrown out for no reason even though you were there first!!!!!!😠

After the 4th attempt we finally got a table and were able to eat here. Otherwise always fully booked, even with reservation requests. Food was delicious, crispy and hot. I don't really understand why a pizza has to cost €16, but at least it tasted good. At first glance, the interior design looks very hip, but if you take a closer look, you can see chipped corners, broken wallpaper and dirty seat cushions on the window front. It wasn't busy during the week or at lunchtime, so we were happy with the service. Food was quick, service was attentive. all in all 4/5 stars

My partner and I came here for a spot to eat one evening in the summer. We were not disappointed. The waitress quickly helped us find a table on what was a very busy evening (I would recommend booking in advance) and we enjoyed a cocktail and pizza each in the evening sunshine. Personally I would visit in the summer as they have plenty of outdoor seating.

Sorry, I was eating in this restaurant with four people at lunchtime on December 22nd, 2024. Unfortunately, the issue of hygiene is not taken very seriously by the employees. On the one hand, the toilet was not particularly clean, and after being told that there was no toilet paper, a roll of toilet paper was provided after ten minutes (?). There were two long hairs in a pizza. How they get there is a mystery to me. I know that hoods MUST be worn when making food. Since the hair was in the covering, it probably didn't slip in during service. The last point is that the restaurant is not really clean inside. This is also the disadvantage when there is a lot of decoration hanging on the walls. Wandering spider included. The pizzas are really good, with great toppings - but that doesn't help at the end of the day. You can't do without hygiene...

Drinks too expensive and not good (Aperol watery, espresso not good and cappuccino not just hot milk, taste so-so), spritzer and soda were good. Pizza was ok, but also really expensive and one unfortunately burned

We reserved a table for 9 people more than 2 months in advance, which was then given to a group that spontaneously dropped by. A muscular cellar was quite unfriendly to us and initially questioned our reservation. After about 20 minutes of waiting, we were directed to the felleni restaurant. Mistakes happen, but this kind of behavior is really not appropriate.

The food here is actually always very tasty. The ambience is mostly nice, just a bit cramped and loud. Unfortunately, today was the second time that we were turned away despite having a reservation. We had reserved a table for 9 people for this evening 2.5 months ago because we were planning a celebration. When we arrived at the restaurant on time, we were first asked to wait. After waiting for 20 minutes, we were informed that our table had unfortunately been given away to spontaneously arriving guests about 15 minutes before our arrival and that there was now no space left. We were referred to the partner restaurant Fellini. We had a wonderful evening there with delicious food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I would recommend skipping the reservation at Tante Giulia and just going straight to Fellini.

Wo kann man Sonntag Nachmittag in Göttingen gemütlich abhängen? Eine durchaus interessante Option ist die Pizzeria-Bar "Tante Giulia". Das Lokal ist zum Abhängen, ne Kleinigkeit essen oder für einen Drink alleine deshalb geeignet, weil es am Sonntag lange geöffnet und nicht übermäßig teuer ist. Zum anderen wird es von vielen Studentinnen und Studenten besucht, was für beim gewisses Niveau sorgt. Das Interieur ist einer italienischen zeitgenössischen Pizzeria für Studenten nachempfunden, also auf Vintage und nicht allzu stylish mit wenig Geld aufgepimpt. Ich glaube, diese Zielvorgabe wird erfüllt. Das Lokal besteht aus zwei langen Räumen, wobei der eine den Pizzaofen beherbergt und der andere eine lange Bar-Theke. Saubere Toiletten sind auch noch da. Das Personal könnte man mit dem Publikum verwechseln: Jung und locker, unaufdringlich... recht freundlich aber mäßig aufmerksam. Und wo bleibt Tante Giulia? Keine Ahnung! Nicht gesehen. Unter den Getränken ist insbesondere eine Auswahl an Cocktails und Dinks zu erwähnen. Ein paar Sorten Wein sind auch noch verfügbar neben Krombacher Bier vom Fass, und in der Flasche alkoholfrei sowie original italienische Birra. Italienische Kaffeespezialitäten sind hier war vorhanden, verdienen aber keine besondere Erwähnung, genauso wie die gesamte Speisekarte. Die vorgefertigten Pizzen werden hier nur leicht aufgebacken, sind zwar eßbar, aber geschmacklich mäßig intensiv und unwürzig. Angesichts der preiswert gestreckten Zutaten sind sie auch nicht gerade günstig, genauso wenig wie die Getränke. Aber so hält man sich wohl den Kundenansturm vom Hals. Pizza oder Cocktail?

Where can you hang out comfortably on a Sunday afternoon in Göttingen? A quite interesting option is the pizzeria bar “Aunt Giulia”. The place is suitable for hanging out, having a bite to eat or just having a drink because it's open late on Sundays and isn't overly expensive. On the other hand, it is attended by many students, which ensures a certain standard. The interior is based on an Italian contemporary pizzeria for students, so it's pimped up in a vintage and not too stylish way with little money. I believe this target will be met. The restaurant consists of two long rooms, one housing the pizza oven and the other a long bar counter. Clean toilets are also still there. The staff could be mistaken for the audience: young and relaxed, unobtrusive... quite friendly but moderately attentive. And where is Aunt Giulia? No idea! Not seen. Among the drinks, a selection of cocktails and dinners is particularly worth mentioning. A few types of wine are also available in addition to Krombacher draft beer, non-alcoholic bottles and original Italian Birra. Italian coffee specialties are available here, but do not deserve special mention, nor does the entire menu. The pre-made pizzas here are only lightly baked and are edible, but their taste is moderately intense and not spicy. Given the inexpensive ingredients, they aren't exactly cheap either, nor are the drinks. But that's probably how you keep the rush of customers at bay. I found many of the older reviews here too euphoric.

Reserved for 8 people and then just left it at the door. Condition was very unfriendly, there wasn't even an apology. It's a shame

We reserved a table but couldn't get a seat. Were put off to “maybe” in 20 minutes. If I could I wouldn't give it a star, I'm hungry! :(

Rarely given 5 stars so clearly. Pizza was perfect, tiramisu was perfect. The service was very nice and the atmosphere was to my liking. I was here today with my eight year old daughter and she is a picky eater. But she enjoyed it so much here that she almost ate an entire pizza and a whole portion of tiramisu. I'm overjoyed.

It is impossible to book from their website. We called them a number of times but no one responded. I am wondering in which century they live in! Use technology please. Once we entered also to book and they were not helpful at all. I complained it is impossible to book online as they don't have such system and when I ranged them a few times no one responded call but the young man did not even apologise. There are better places to go in Göttingen!

Never again! Cleanliness is also an issue for temporary workers and it is one of the basic tasks in gastronomic work! But that's always in the eye of the beholder - I always judge a restaurant by something like that. And then the sentence: we don't have enough staff, unbelievable 🤯 but of course there's enough time to chat at the bar! The ambience would have received 4 stars if it was well maintained! Starting with the seating outside, they also need to be cleaned from time to time! I didn't like the food at all (pizza) apparently the store is just conveniently located for it to be so busy. We have complete incomprehension!!!

I ate there tonight and it was terrible. There was a hair on my pizza!!! It was disgusting but they accepted it and I didn't pay for the pizza but that wasn't enough for such a famous restaurant. It was definitely my last time there.

A nice ambience and the name promises a familiar, friendly atmosphere and actually a bit of handmade food. Some of this may be true, but you also need to know how to prepare food. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. The ingredients were ok, but it had nothing to do with Italian cuisine. The bruschetta - advertised as containing tomato, garlic and basil - was quite tasteless. There was only a small amount of garlic oil on the bread. You could only add salt and pepper yourself (a bruschetta should be steeped first) and the basil was carelessly placed in the middle of the plate. The squid rings were fried to perfection, which in itself is no art. The accompanying dip was cheap canned sauce. I expected a little more demands on my own kitchen. My companion's pizza was completely burnt from the bottom and the dough was not cooked through. The oven was probably set incorrectly. This was just as carelessly prepared. Food - especially with an Italian restaurant - should have a higher priority. Let's move on to "service". The waiting time to place an order was clearly too long. The food was placed on the table without comment. The pizza, which came as the second course, was clumsily pushed somewhere in between on the table that was still full of the first course. No “Here you go, no bon appetit”. Nothing like that from the service staff. A re-ordered beer was also placed on the table without comment. You could already see that half the pizza had already been sorted out on the plate with the burnt side up. The waitress wasn't interested. When we ordered the bill, we weren't asked whether we were satisfied or whether we would like to order something else. This was one of the worst services I have experienced. When I finally did NOT give a tip, we had to hear people talking about us as we walked out and one of the young women pointing her head in our direction. If at least the food had been good, the poor staff could have been overlooked. Unfortunately, only the shop itself is quite nice. All in all: Very far from gastronomy. You don't feel like a guest here. I generally don't care about prices. But here it wasn't worth the money. The rest of the pizza was just like in the photo.

Best pizza between Rome and Göttingen, better only in Italy.

Unfortunately, Aunt Giulia has lost a lot of weight in the last two years. Two years ago the Espresso Martini was available for €2 less and was twice as big. I think €11.50 for three sips is very cheeky. At least they still tasted delicious.

When I'm in Göttingen, Aunt Giulia is an absolute must. The pizzas can do something!

Very good food, staff very friendly

We reserved a table for my friend's birthday and ended up being directed to some corner where it felt like 40 degrees. When we asked about a better place, we were told there were no places available. The pizzas were more like salads, you just have to like them. The selection was also very modest, it's more for modern hipsters who do food blocks to earn an extra €15 a month.

In itself a very nice modern restaurant with a nice, bright and cozy interior. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. It starts with the fact that when you want to reserve a seat by phone, you are rudely “yelled at”. Unfortunately, this mushy manner has persisted on every one of my visits so far. As a guest you have the feeling that you are annoying the staff and therefore unwanted. The pizza is very tasty and freshly prepared.

So we've been there several times because the pizza is really incredibly tasty and recommended, even if the prices are comparatively really high! Usually you have to wait at least 30 minutes for the pizza, but it was usually worth it for us. Today we were there again and had made a special reservation so that we could get a place outside. However, there was no table available when we arrived and we were relegated to the interior. And we were told that we would be moved if a table outside became available and that it was also air-conditioned inside (outside temperature 27 degrees). However, little by little other people who came after us were seated at tables outside. After I told the restaurant manager again that we had reserved a table outside and would be happy to sit outside, he just told us that there was no space available outside. In addition, it wasn't air-conditioned inside at all, but really hot, which is why we unfortunately didn't stay long. It's really a shame that the service leaves so much to be desired and promises are not kept, other guests who arrive later are given priority and it's simply not true that the interior is air-conditioned.

The waiters are all very attentive and you can tell that service is being taken very seriously here. Every time we eat here the waiters are really friendly and forthcoming. There’s one waiter especially who’s very very attentive and can predict the customers needs which is very impressive. The food is always very good, as are the drinks and the atmosphere outside is always nice.

WUCHER!!! leider kann man nicht weniger als einen Stern geben, ansonsten gäbe es von mir eine 6-!!! Dabei beschränke ich nicht die Bewertung auf die mittelmäßige Pizzen sondern auf die Wucherpreise!!! Bestellt habe ich -siehe Rechnung- eine Pizza Michele. Gebeten habe ich die Kellnerin mir ein Ei extra auf die Pizza zu machen. Geliefert wie bestellt, auf der Rechnung musste ich dann feststellen, dass man 5 Euro!!!! für das Ei extra berechnet hat! Auf Anfrage bei der Kellnerin wurde mir nur gesagt: Ja tut mir Leid ist halt so! Liebe Grimaldis reicht es nicht, wenn ihr Stammkunden normale Preise berechnet, wozu diese Abzocke mit 5 Euro für EIN EI extra? Wäre es ein Faberge´ EI ok aber sowas ist absolute frech und ABZOCKE!!! Nicht nur mich habt ihr als Kunden definitiv verloren.

USURY!!! Unfortunately you can't give less than one star, otherwise I would give it a 6!!! I'm not limiting my rating to the mediocre pizzas but to the exorbitant prices!!! I ordered - see invoice - a Pizza Michele. I asked the waitress to put an extra egg on the pizza. Delivered as ordered, I then found out on the invoice that you had to pay 5 euros!!!! charged extra for the egg! When I asked the waitress, all I was told was: Yes, I'm sorry, that's just the way it is! Dear Grimaldis, it's not enough if you charge regular customers normal prices, why this rip-off with 5 euros extra for ONE EGG? If it were a Faberge EGG it would be ok but something like that is absolutely cheeky and a rip off!!! It's not just me that you've definitely lost as a customer.

Unfortunately the Giulia was just too salty, as was the Isabella and the pomegranate seeds and cocktail tomatoes were missing! The Alma simply tasted bland and the Bianca had a beard hair in it. Unfortunately we were here for the first and last time.

We've had pizza here a few times and the pizzas are really wonderful! I actually have nothing to complain about here, but… a few weeks ago we ordered a pizza with an extra burrata for +3€ extra. Today again and suddenly the burrata costs +4.50€ extra on the pizza (which in itself would be a relatively reasonable price increase, since burratas are already more expensive) but “+1.50€ formaggi” was added to the bill, which, upon request, are listed there because of the burrata. In other words, an extra burrata now costs +€6, which means a price increase of 100% in just a few weeks. We think that's a bit excessive and really expensive and you can't tell how much an extra burrata costs on the menu. Bit of a shame :(

Far too crowded, far too loud, you sit close together on uncomfortable, wobbly chairs (outside). In addition, you had to wait quite a long time for service. Ordered pizza because many people rave about it - never again! Thick, large crust, for the price the pizza was really a disappointment, you can eat better elsewhere in Göttingen. I could only eat the middle of the pizza because of the edge, and I also saw that in many cases the edge receded. Furthermore, I found it strange that the first time I ordered a cola, I got a 0.33 provision cola, and the second time I ordered a 0.2 original cola (but the same price was charged for both). I visited this location for the first and last time, but it's not for me.

Hands down the best Pizza in Göttingen! Atmosphere is relaxed and the service is good. Me and my family frequent this place quite often.

Cave: Despite having previously made a reservation outside, we were assigned a table inside. Sufficient acclimatization was difficult due to the climatic conditions. Any attempts to draw attention to the grievances were rejected with disapproval. Regarding the drinks ordered, there was a discrepancy between the order and what was served. There was a representative demonstration of the glassware used by all guests on the nearby counter. The pizza was impressive in terms of taste and tried to make up for an otherwise unsuccessful evening. The wine selection was not convincing and should subsequently be revised after detailed professional advice. Despite the use of a portafilter machine, the coffee was prepared sloppily. All in all, 'Aunt Giulias' can only be attributed a benevolent rite.

Actually, the food and drinks are delicious, as long as they aren't burnt ;) They didn't even offer a discount or anything to compensate for the price of €15. The seating is uncomfortable and you sit really close together. In addition, you won't be able to get a table spontaneously and if you make a reservation, seating requests will be ignored and you still have to accept the waiting time. The staff is generally friendly, but I felt very uncomfortable when all the leftovers from the plates in front of me were pushed together onto one. Do you do that on the kitchen counter?! It is also significantly louder here than in other restaurants. People shout loudly to each other behind the counter and the utensils jingle happily to themselves.

Was there with my son. Even though there were two free tables outside, we had to sit down. (At 27 degrees) Reason 3 people could come!!! In the pizza oven area it was like a sauna, it was impossible to eat there. When I tried to speak to the waitress again, she was very unfriendly and annoyed. I didn't want to let her ruin my day, so we left the store, then went to L'Osteria and good 👍

Despite having a reservation, we didn't even make it to the restaurant... The reservation was at 8 p.m., and at 8:30 p.m. we were still waiting for our seat. When we asked angrily why it was taking so long, the muscular waiter simply said: We would have been 5 minutes late. That's true, but giving a reserved table after 5 minutes and then acting as if it was the customer's mistake doesn't work at all. Extremely bad service!

Very unfriendly staff. Despite a reservation, I couldn't get a seat and was still turned away in an unfriendly manner. Catastrophe! Gastronomy is different. Customer is king!

This was the second time we have been to this restaurant within a year. Unfortunately, the long waiting times for food have not changed so far. We reserved a table for two people, although it should be noted that the restaurant was still quite empty at 6 p.m. The employee actually asked us if we could sit outside - reluctantly because it was raining. Then she wanted to sit us at the counter. After a long time back and forth, we were assigned a table for 1 ½ hours, right in front of the toilet. We ordered 2 pizzas and had to wait 1 hour and 15 hours... when the food came there wasn't even an apology or anything like that. I then went to the front to pay because again no one from the staff felt responsible. It was a shame because we had an appointment straight after and then just had to wolf down the food. We were really very disappointed with our second visit a year later.. it's really a shame because the food tasted very good! But the price is quite expensive. Pizza costs between €14-18.

We were happy with our pizzas. It is good that they have vegetarian and vegan options. The portions were big. The place was busy and we waited considerably long for our meals. Some of us do not prefer drinking while eating but the way the staff asked for drinks multiple times made us feel pressured to order some drinks as well. We also got the vibe that they expect you to leave the minute you finish your meal. We paid EUR 10-12 for our pizzas which seemed fair.

Disappointment of the decade in culinary terms. Loud, stuffy, cramped and impersonal describe my first impression. The bruschetta made everything in me contract, half cherry tomatoes with plenty of oil and a touch of spice, more for looks. Anyone who appreciates taste and ambience and eats here will be deceived by an illusion. The dough is doughy and requires a lot of chewing muscle strength. You can tell that the pizzas here are made like on an assembly line, although I would prefer frozen ones. Easier, more comfortable, more reliable and cheaper. Maybe I had high expectations based on recommendations, instastories, etc., but was still undercut.

Full of sticks. Always. Smaller Italian restaurant where you can go with two or maybe four people, everything else is squeezed. Drinks menu is sufficient, the wine list is large. There are also good pizzas to eat. The women's toilet was clean so far.

We had reserved a table 3 weeks in advance, which according to the waiter was right at the door. When we asked, we were moved. New table was better but also really small and right next to the toilet. Service was inattentive, the pizza and drinks were ok, but the price-performance ratio is also questionable here. The toilets also left a lot to be desired, very dirty. The furnishings are modern and nice but also not ideal (power cables stick out of the wall). Overall, really disappointing.

very unfriendly waitress! I was so excited to try the pizza there, but when I saw how the waitress treated me as a customer, I didn't want to eat there and will never go there again!

Great pizza, great cocktails and attentive staff. 👌 The ambience and interior design is also very stylish.

Pizza was okay, but nothing special. The beer was only available in 0.3 and didn't taste good. Service brought the wrong pizza. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes in the cold. All in all it was okay but nothing special. There are much better pizza restaurants in Göddingen

A small, cozy restaurant, service was great and the best pizza I've eaten in a long time :)
