Tamatsu SPO in Sankt Peter-Ording

The food was very tasty and fresh, and sushi a la chef was highly recommended. The service was really friendly and accommodating. We just had to wait a long time for the food. Additionally, one of the waiters took too many plates while clearing, so the stack fell from her hand and soiled the wool sweater of a woman in our group. The waiter apologized immediately, and the owner of the sweater wasn't upset or anything. After this incident, the waiter didn't dare go up to the first floor again. No compensation or anything like that came from the hotel, and when we left, the waiter avoided us. As soon as we left, she went back up to the first floor to serve. It's understandable that she was embarrassed, but we all thought it was a shame that there was no reaction at all. Things like that can happen, and other guests would have reacted much more angrily, e.g., with compensation, etc. We would have appreciated a more mature reaction, as we were otherwise very happy with her.

Ate there twice within two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed both times! Excellent service, fresh, delicious food – highly recommended.

The Tamatsu restaurant has clearly established itself in Sankt Peter-Ording, so you should reserve a table. And it was worth it; the super-friendly service was excellent, even if it took a bit longer. The chef's sushi selection was the reward: a delicious selection and absolutely sufficient for two people. Plus, the very drinkable house wine—what more could you want? Everything was moderately priced and acceptable. It was a lovely evening.

The restaurant was recommended to us by friends; we were new to SPO. The ambiance inside is certainly very chic, but despite having a reservation, we were seated at the "cat table" at the very back of the cul-de-sac. The prices are ambitious. Charging over €25 for a small and somewhat bland salad simply means we won't be back. My own meal was okay, but not so exciting that I can even remember what I ate today (14 days later). The bottom line: the frustration of a poor service lingers longer and is simply off-putting.

We went to Tamatsu with high expectations due to the high prices and good reputation. We chose the "Family Style" menu. The dishes were decent in terms of taste, but didn't live up to expectations. Often, one flavor dominated, making it impossible to taste most of the ingredients. The dessert, however, was very good. Our biggest criticism is the excessively long wait. It took an hour for the appetizer to arrive, and another hour for the main course. As an apology for the long wait, they at least offered a bottle of water. When you're charging twice as much as comparable restaurants, this shouldn't happen. One possible explanation for the long wait is the very extensive menu: There's everything Asian cuisine has to offer, from sushi to ramen, bowls, dumplings, tempura, and tuna steak. The lunch menu even includes burgers. The kitchen can't deliver the desired quality. It might help to focus on a few highlights. The service was friendly, and our request for vegetarian dishes was accommodated. There are some good ideas and potential, but the price-performance ratio isn't right. Perhaps the restaurant is recommended during the week when it's less busy.

The wok chicken with vegetables and rice was very spicy, with lots of chili and garlic. My mouth and lips burned. I immediately told the seaman: "Yeah, what are we doing here?" was his only reaction. Since the portion was small, I gave the rest to my husband. The tables were dirty. So it wasn't my thing! I woke up hungry.

We had a fantastic time here. The food was truly delicious—both the sushi and the other dishes, such as the edamame. The service was also very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. The location and the cozy outdoor area, which we enjoyed, were also great. Overall, the price was a bit on the higher side, of course, but for us, it was definitely worth it. So, in our opinion, we highly recommend it.

An absolute dream in St. Peter-Ording! The Tamatsu SPO captivated me from start to finish. As soon as you enter, you sense the special atmosphere – stylish, cozy, and full of energy. The concept is modern, yet not pretentious, and a perfect fit for St. Peter-Ording. The cuisine is simply sensational: fresh ingredients, creative compositions, and a quality rarely found. Every dish is a small work of art – not only visually, but especially in terms of taste. The sushi variations and the homemade specials are a particular highlight. The drinks are also an experience in themselves: cleverly mixed, beautifully served, and always a moment of enjoyment. The service team perfectly rounds off the evening – attentive, warm, and professional, without seeming forced. You don't feel like a guest here, but like part of the Tamatsu family. For me, the Tamatsu SPO is the new hotspot on the North Sea – everything just fits perfectly: the location, the food, the drinks, the team, and the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

For us, at least one visit to Tamatsu is mandatory during every SPO stay; we always look forward to it. The dishes are beautifully coordinated creations – very convincing in taste, even outstanding. The service takes its time and is very interested in the well-being of its guests. The pleasant and stylish ambiance always ensures that we feel completely at home. Keep up the good work!

We ate here last week while on vacation and waited 2 hours and 20 minutes for our food. Several guests rightfully complained, and some left. As we waited, it turned out the kitchen was understaffed. The staff was very nice and obviously couldn't do anything about the understaffing, but they should have informed us up front that it would take longer. Despite that, not even a waiter came by to ask us if we wanted to order something to drink, which was also a clear criticism of the staff. The manager wasn't there to clean up the mess (pun intended, although I'm not usually a joker), the staff appeased the disgruntled guests, and the kitchen was probably under a lot of stress. In conclusion, it was unfortunately the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and on vacation no less. At least we did get sushi on the house as an apology. More than one star isn't possible for an experience like that. Even though the food itself was okay.

The food, the setting, and the cocktails were excellent, though the prices could be a bit more reasonable, especially if you're looking to fill up. Otherwise, it was top-notch.

The order took a bit too long to take. The "Peanut Duck" dish had far too much sauce. However, the vegetables were significantly cut back. It was rather expensive.

We had made a special reservation, but were seated in the passageway right next to the open kitchen. The ambiance is actually great, but our seat was worth zero stars. The food was only okay with the poke bowl for €30! My curry was supposed to be a red curry, but it was more like a yellow curry and completely oversalted. The kids' plate (spaghetti) was a disgrace. Tomato sauce had no flavor. A real shame. We had waffles there the afternoon before and had a nice meal outside. But that evening, nothing went right...

We had reserved a table in advance, so there was no wait. The service was exceptionally friendly and fast. There were two of us, and we had starters, main courses, and desserts, which didn't require long to arrive. The dishes were unique and tasted fantastic. Of course, the prices aren't for everyone, but as a vacationer, you can definitely treat yourself to this restaurant :) An absolute recommendation for anyone who loves sushi and Asian cuisine in general. We'd gladly return!

The service was great. But we waited two hours for our food. We arrived at 10 p.m. The waitress apologized several times, but there was nothing they could do. A shame...for the price. It was the last time.

Last night, the three of us enjoyed a wonderful meal. We were lucky and were able to try Tashi's Family Style on Sunday for €49 instead of €59. Since we couldn't decide anyway, we were able to try the entire menu once. Yes, the prices are a bit steep, but the ambiance and, above all, the highly motivated and super-friendly staff, and of course, the incredibly delicious food, definitely justify it. We haven't eaten this well in a long time. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back.

A team that's clearly "in the mood," and the food is really, really good. We had the "Best of" selection, and it was really good. The sushi is top-notch, the spicy beef was amazing, and as minor as it may seem, the kimchi in the appetizer selection sealed the deal for me that this was going to be a good evening. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Everyone on the team seemed to simply enjoy being a host.

Unfortunately the price-quantity ratio is not right. First of all, the food tasted excellent! But you won't get full without a starter and dessert. We had salad with duck, (8) momos and a soup. These three dishes were far too small to even come close to filling us. So we treated ourselves to dessert. It was fantastic and well worth the money. We ate well several times during our two weeks of vacation, but here we got the highest bill. The service was nice but a bit dreamy at first - we think we were simply forgotten upstairs. :) We particularly noticed a nice young waiter who took his time and was in a great mood. He saved the evening for us. CONCLUSION: Unfortunately not for those on a tight budget or very hungry, but worth a visit if you want to escape the typical SPO food.

07/20/25 The best thing was the fries. The fish was cooked for far too long and therefore dry, my wife's salmon was cold and also far too dry, the potatoes were soft, and the momos were watery and had already fallen apart in the basket. It wasn't busy yet, as we were among the first guests at 5:30 p.m. The service was very friendly.

We arrived a little after 5 p.m. and were lucky. There weren't many customers, but a friendly waiter with a good eye and expert knowledge offered an excellent recommendation for a three-course menu with the house wine. Very harmonious and delicious. We'd love to come back 🤩

The food was creative, high-quality, and delicious – we were completely satisfied. The ambiance, quality, and service are simply perfect here. The beef with chili is highly recommended. We'd be happy to come back and can wholeheartedly recommend Tamatsu!

4 out of 5 stars Tamatsu impresses with its modern flair and stylish atmosphere. The cocktails taste very good – however, the alcohol content varied significantly between the first and second drinks, which was a bit disconcerting. The food looked excellent and was beautifully presented. However, one clear downside is the self-service on the terrace: No waiter came to our table, so we had to order and pay inside – only the drinks were brought. Given the overall high price level, we would have expected table service. Hence, one star deducted. Otherwise, a really nice place to linger – we would gladly come back.

Very disappointing! 😢 Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio isn't right at all... a bowl for €26.00-€29.00, which was tasty, but unfortunately nothing special, and the portions were rather small. The service was not good... the drinks didn't arrive until after the meal, and we had to get our own menus. It was a lovely evening! The food was excellent, and the super friendly staff took such loving care of our daughter. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, very disappointing. The food was a complete disappointment. We had momos for starters... they were unfortunately completely overcooked/evaporated and watery on the inside... they weren't properly sealed... which is why the taste was bland. The main course was duck/peanut. The duck was tasteless and mushy, and the second course was hot beef... instead of basmati rice, they served long grain rice. The beef was dry and hard and the sauce was way too salty. When we asked about it, we were told that was just how the meat gets dry and hard because it's cooked in a wok... well, I've never experienced it before. I sent the food back and ordered tempura because everything else would take too long. When I asked for a different dish, I was told that the beef fillet, for example, would take 20 minutes...and here too...a fresh beef fillet takes 20 minutes...you know...there were no other orders placed in front of me...which raises the question: is the beef fillet not fresh but frozen and therefore needs time to thaw?? The tempura was completely tasteless, with no seasoning. The chicken, shrimp and vegetables only tasted of fat, the chicken strips were also fatty, all inedible...the dip served was inedible. I ended up leaving that too and went home hungry. And on top of everything...not a word of apology...everything seems normal and we are the only ones who didn't like it? Why don't others have the courage? Or do people just eat whatever is put in front of them these days? All in all, it's a shame.

Very nice restaurant serving sushi and Asian fusion cuisine. Since the few negative reviews refer to service issues, I would like to point out the excellent service at the table; we never had to wait and were always served quickly and very friendly. The waiters were always on the move, always with friendly faces and very professional. The food was very much to our taste, and everything else that came over the counter looked so good that we will be back soon to try the sushi too. The sorbet for dessert was also great: fresh and fruity with a bit of crumble on the bottom. The dishes are attractively and temptingly presented. There is seating inside on two floors and in the garden outside the restaurant. Even on a Monday there was quite a crowd; I can imagine that it can get busy on weekends. We had no problem getting a seat early this evening, but a reservation certainly doesn't hurt, especially with larger groups. The cuisine is a pleasant contrast to the other restaurants in town with its diverse Asian variations such as momos, sushi, curries, and bowls. A definite recommendation for anyone curious about new and unusual things. Ordered food can also be picked up, and the family-style offer sounds particularly tempting: for two people or more, €59 per head for a best-of menu to share, or even just €49 per person on Sundays. Sounds exciting! The website presents everything mentioned here in more detail, so it's worth a look, and you can also make reservations and order there.

Finally, something different from the usual coastal fare: Tamatsu in Sankt Peter Dorf enchants with its ambiance and open kitchen. The service enchanted us both inside and outside on our second visit. If you've never had a momo in your life, you should definitely try it here. Away from the good Asian food, the dessert, the crème brûlée with brownie and pistachio ice cream, was what really won us over!

The food was good, the service terrible! Unfortunately, the staff weren't well-trained; it took 40 minutes to order drinks, and then ordering took even longer. The food was okay, but further drinks orders were forgotten and only brought after we asked for them. The dishes stayed at our table for another half hour after the meal. The nice young waiter took care of clearing the next table once there were no more guests. Unfortunately, overall, it was very disappointing and a bit annoying.

Unfortunately, the seafood bowl was missing some ingredients, and instead featured more chickpeas and old spinach leaves as garnish. It would be better to raise the price while maintaining the same quality.

We went there with our children to end our vacation. The food definitely deserves more than 5 stars. Very, very tasty. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service (1 star). It took a long time for drinks to arrive. Everything was mixed up. The last drink we ordered never arrived... and the dishes weren't taken away, even though the server had their hands free. What a shame...

A fantastic location with excellent cuisine and very friendly service. We had a wonderful evening here with a meal that we will remember for a long time. Tamatsu in SPO is something special in the midst of the gastronomic monotony.

We were there for my birthday, which we had mentioned when we made our reservation. The table wasn't particularly set up or anything. The sushi à la chef for €45 was okay, but really nothing special for the price. My husband didn't particularly like the bowl; the sauce was just plain old. I didn't like it either. We wouldn't go back; it's not worth the money. The service, however, was very friendly and attentive!

The Tamatsu only opened in St. Peter-Ording in 2022. The food is very good. The staff very friendly. The sushi is freshly prepared, so it can take a while, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Quite the opposite.

We were soooo disappointed. We've been to Tamatsu in Heiligenhafen so many times because we like the miso soup and the vegetarian sushi. Unfortunately, the soup couldn't be compared to what we know, and the roll was also rather small and on a limp bed of lettuce. The service was very nice and the table upstairs was great. But the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. We probably won't come back.

Wir sind Wiederholungstäter, tolles Essen und hervorragende Bedienung. Bei der Anmeldung hatten wir unsere beiden kleinen Hunde mit angegeben und hatten dann einen Tisch am Rand bekommen, wo unsere Hunde sich wohlfühlten und sofort einen Napf mit Wasser bekamen.

Gutes Essen, leider mMn völlig überteuert, Wartezeit vor der Tür trotz Reservierung, drinnen sehr voll und wuselig, eng möbliert und unruhig, da die Tische nach dem Bezahlen sofort für die nächsten eindeckt wurden, hier wurden zackig viele Durchgänge pro Tisch durchgeschleust, daher für uns nicht entspannt und gemütlich, Service bemüht freundlich, wir waren etwas enttäuscht und nicht satt trotz Rechnung von knapp 100 € (1 Vorspeise, 1 Sushiroll, 1 Reis/Fleischgericht, 1 Flasche Wein)

The sushi is very tasty, but simply too expensive. The “plate dishes” are outrageously small and far too expensive, and they don’t blow you away in terms of taste either.

My dish was ordered to be picked up. When I got home it was then discovered that it was incomplete. So 32 euros for some beef and beans is out of proportion, sorry

We were there for my mother's birthday. We were greeted very friendly, congratulated and the table was beautifully decorated. The service including advice with wine accompaniment was very competent and very friendly. The food is fantastically tasty, freshly prepared and of high quality The ambience is in a wooden design, rather modern, but cozy and relaxed. We really enjoyed the stay and the food.

We had a successful end to our SPO trip at Tamatsu. It's not quite as stylish as the Büsum branch, but the excellent service from the extremely friendly staff easily makes up for it. We were once again treated to the best sushi, which you won't find anywhere else. Absolutely fantastic. Many thanks to the entire team, but especially to the magical waitress who rocked the Sunday evening on her own.

We ate at Tamatsu SPO a few days ago and were very impressed with the sushi. Big compliments to the kitchen! Unfortunately, the waitress was alone that evening, which meant that the service suffered somewhat. It took a total of an hour and a half until we had our food - but at least the wait was worth it. We would definitely come back again if we are in SPO again. 😊

Die Karte bietet viel, jedoch darf man auch gerne „Wünsche“ äußern und sich dann genussgeil freuen, da der Gaumen entzückt und ekstatisch sich fühlt. We were here shortly after it opened over two years ago and were thrilled. Today we went back to St. Peter Ording and visited the Tamatsu again. It is still a very nice sushi-Asian restaurant in a nice atmosphere in the middle of SPO. Very friendly staff, good value for money. If you have something to complain about here, you should visit other places, such as all you can eat for a cheap flat rate. Taste is certainly a matter of taste. However, the negative, sometimes insulting reviews are absolutely not appropriate here. We'll definitely be back.

Wir waren zu dritt im Tamatsu SPO und haben verschiedene Spezial- und Inside-Out-Rolls, sowie die Teigtaschen in der Hauptspeisenvariante (Momi oder Mimo 😎 heißen die hier). Der Kritikpunkt vorweg, das bleibt aber das Einzige, der unaufmerksame Service. Dieser war ein bisschen langsam und eben nicht aufmerksam genug um mal nach einem Getränk bzw. neuen Getränk zu fragen. Die Gerichte waren klasse, super zusammengestellt in der Textur und im Geschmack, so muss das bei den Rolls auch sein. Man bekommt 8 Stück, wobei eine Portion ein bisschen wenig bei gutem Hunger und zwei ein bisschen viel sind, also am Besten zusammen bestellen und teilen, dann ist auch die Vielfalt größer . Auch die Teigtaschen waren richtig, richtig lecker. Als Nachspeise gönnten wir uns noch eine Tonka-Creme-Brulee, samt Eis und Früchten, die auch klasse geschmeckt hat. zu dritt waren wir mit Getränken dann bei rund 150 Euro.

Wir waren mit 2 Personen und einem Hund das erste Mal im Tamatzu essen und waren hellauf begeistert. Das Restaurant einfach wunderschön und das Essen hervorragend. Der Service war super freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben uns wirklich rundum wohl gefühlt. Seeeehr empfehlenswert!!!

Service richtig schlecht, zwei Servicelräfte Vorort. Vorarbeiterin gut und bemüht, die Tresenkraft hätte lieber zuhause bleiben sollen. So eine schlechte Servicekraft habe ich noch nie erlebt. Stellt Getränke am Anfang des Tisches und wor müssen selber verteilen. Nichtmal ein bitte war es ihr wert. Wir waren nun in 3 Tamatsus und in diesem kommen wir so schnell nicht wieder

Ich hatte heute das Vergnügen, im Tamatsu in Sankt Peter-Ording zu essen, und ich bin absolut begeistert! Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants fiel mir die moderne, aber gemütliche Atmosphäre auf, die einen sofort willkommen heißt. Der Service war äußerst zuvorkommend und freundlich – wir wurden mit einem Lächeln begrüßt und während des gesamten Abends hervorragend betreut. Das Essen war ein echtes Highlight. Die Sushi-Variationen waren nicht nur optisch ein Kunstwerk, sondern auch geschmacklich ein Traum – die Frische der Zutaten war deutlich spürbar. Auch die warmen Gerichte, die wir probiert haben, waren perfekt zubereitet und voller Aromen. Besonders empfehlen kann ich die Kombination aus Sushi und asiatischen Tapas, die wirklich außergewöhnlich war. We were able to get a table between the days and we really enjoyed it. The food and service were great and our dog was also very welcome.

We got a great table with our dog without a reservation. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! We were even able to take the food with us because we couldn't finish it all. We will definitely come back
