Sumo Sushi Bar in Würzburg

Unfortunately no longer recommended We have enjoyed going to Sumo for years and have expressly recommended the restaurant several times. Unfortunately, we can no longer do this in good conscience as the following points have taken a turn for the worse: • Rising prices for smaller portions: The nigiri have become at least 1/3 smaller and the maki rolls are smaller than the discount sushi that calls itself sushi. • Negligent service: In the past, guests were served quickly, attentively and in a friendly manner. Now the reserved table is not free when you arrive and you are instructed to wait. We waited 15 minutes for a table to be vacated, where the guests had already paid and emptied their drinks when we arrived. The staff didn't feel the need to inform guests about our reservation. Even when we said after 15 minutes that we weren't waiting any longer and were leaving, the waiter just made a face and pointed out that other tables would probably pay soon too. We find it very unfortunate that Sumo has developed this way and will now try other sushi restaurants in Würzburg.

Both privately and with the company, we like to eat here or order and enjoy at home or in the office. Highly recommended!

Very clean and cozy Asian restaurant. I especially know sushi very well and really enjoy eating it in this restaurant. It has never disappointed me and I think the price is still right at the moment - I hope it stays that way. The service is professional and very friendly. All in all, this is my favorite sushi restaurant in Würzburg. Because the price-performance is right, because the quality is right, because the service is great and because fresh, high-quality ingredients are used. I feel completely comfortable here.

The food was incredibly tasty, the duck was super tender, the sushi was super fresh. Also nice ambience and a nice waiter. Not exactly cheap, but the price is about the same as in other stores in Würzburg. I'd love to come back!

It's been a while since I've ordered from Sumo again, but unfortunately I was disappointed and ripped off. The disappointment: the food we ordered (squid with vegetables in red curry sauce) couldn't have been waterier, the fried noodles were just ok. Just to kid you, we ordered a seaweed salad as a side dish and were really happy at the beginning because the cup was full. After two forkfuls each of us, the salad was empty and underneath there was simple green lettuce as filling material... It's a shame, we remembered the store much better!

My favorite sushi shop in Würzburg. Despite the recent price increase, it is still fair and value for money is right. The food is tasty and the staff is always very quick.

We have been to this restaurant few times. Personally, I like Tom Yum soup. The sushi is ordinary, nothing special. I also liked Aperol. The staff is friendly and attentive. There are a lot of people at lunchtime, which means that the place is popular. But the interior and furniture are really outdated, there is no feeling of cleanliness

Ordered through Wolt and received an incorrect delivery. After I complained about it, the missing menu was added very quickly and easily. Generally very fast delivery and delicious food!

We have been going to Sumo Sushi for many years and have tried many different dishes. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating, no matter how hectic and busy the store is. The food is prepared quickly and freshly, we never had to wait long. In addition, the very good quality has been consistently excellent over the years (more than 10), something very few can achieve. We have often sent family, friends and acquaintances there; they are just as enthusiastic as we are. There is the option to help yourself to the running sushi at the bar or to order all the dishes from the menu if there is no table available. By the way, we don't tolerate flavor enhancers and we've never had any complaints after eating here. Thank you for the always delicious food and always a very friendly and warm welcome.

Our favorite sushi restaurant in Würzburg. We love being here and especially enjoy eating “swimming sushi”. If you have a specific request, it will be addressed.

I ordered a can of Coca-Cola with a deposit, but strangely received a glass of Coke that was only a third full and completely non-carbonated! It tastes really bad and I don't know what that is about! Also, the picture showed three mochi with garnishes for the dessert, but I only received one very small mochi. However, the main course was very tasty and excellent. With all due respect, I won't be ordering here again.

The team works quickly and always remains friendly - you immediately feel at home. I stop by at least once a week or order in when I don't have time to stop by. The prices are really fair, especially for the quality, and the central location makes it super convenient. Clear recommendation for everyone who loves good sushi!

It is an Asian restaurant that serves typical German tastes. Although the boss is Asian, neither sushi nor Vietnamese or Chinese food tastes particularly traditional. However, the portions are large and the prices are cheaper than in other restaurants.

Edit: the next day, we went to Sumo Sushi bar 2 and experienced the exact opposite. Friendly, efficient and delicious. Go there instead. Enquired about a table for 3, shown to seats by staff member. Waited for a while, another man came along and said we couldn't have seat as people were coming and it was a table for 4, we enquired about another table, there were several, told we couldn't put another chair on a table for 2. Strange behaviour, I think he didn't want a wasted space as we were 3 not 4. Wouldn't have minded except we had been shown a table and spent some time perusing the menu.

The taste was very good, but one star was deducted because the Uramakis & Co. were not made cleanly and firmly. They were very fluffy and therefore the rolls fell apart when they came into contact with soy sauce.

The food was delicious and nicely prepared. Great price for lunch. Service flawless and quick. Any time.

We came to visit the restaurant again because last time it was a super good experience. They keep up with what we already experienced. They placed us in a table super fast and were extremely helpful us when they took our orders (because someone had an allergy) and they made sure it was safe for our allergic friend. The place is not so big, so make sure to call and make a reservation if you are visiting on a busy day on Würzburg. The food was delicious, super fresh and with exquisite taste. I can recommend Sumo Sushi Bar to eat something really tasty, for a good price and an excellent service.

This was our first time at Sumo Sushi. We received a very warm welcome, even though the bar was full and the waiters had their work cut out for them. The service is very quick and the waiters are attentive. We had veg. Spring rolls, chicken noodles, sushi and baked banana for dessert. All of it was delicious! The homemade iced tea is also recommended. :) We were also very happy with the price, as the price for everything (for two people) was under €40. All in all, we will definitely go to Sumi Sushi again and maybe try the Running Sushi which also looked very good. :D

Anlässlich unserer Fahrradreise nach Würzburg Spesen wir im Sumo Sushi und waren vom großen Andrang überrascht. Ein sehr kompetenter Mitarbeiter nahm die Bestellung von 4 Personen mit Getränken, Vorspeisen und Hauptgängen ohne jegliche Notizen auf und servierte alles im Nachhinein fehlerfrei zu den jeweils richtigen Personen. Eine erstaunliche Gedächtnisleistung. Genau erstaunlich war die sehr gute Qualität aller Speisen. Egal ob diverse Sushi Sashimi oder auch crosse Ente süß sauer. Wir waren rund herum zufrieden und über die sehr moderaten Preise erfreut.

Apparently the waitress in this restaurant is either pedophile or just socially incompetent. My girlfriend, who is obviously underage, was molested about exactly an hour ago by an operator who must be at least 25 years old. You might think that I'm just writing a complaint out of jealousy, but that's not the case. I am aware that she is a very attractive woman, but she felt harassed and uncomfortable during her stay in the restaurant. So I would never eat there again!

My last visit was unsuccessful. They brought me tempura sushi but it just fell apart and was small. Also, some of the tuna and salmon sushi fell apart. Their other restaurant at Semmelstraße 5, 97070 offers much better and more sushi. I will not come to this restaurant again! For the price it's terrible. As a token of compensation and apology we were given a cookie. And thank you for that.🫨😂😂

We arrived for early dinner at 5:30pm and had reservations. It wouldn't have been necessary at the time but about 2 hours later we recommend it. The waiter was very friendly at all times, asked if it tasted good and if everything was okay (that's important). The starters and the sushi 🍱 were delicious 😋 I can also recommend the homemade lemonade 🥤! We also thought it was great that there were also offers for the day. We haven't seen this before at other sushi restaurants. What we didn't like so much was the cleanliness of the toilets. The locations are also getting a bit old. This should be improved.

I took the Gyoza, very good and the Sushi n.45 and 46, very good but the Sushi with grilled salmon was a little dry for my tastes. My friend had some sautéed nudels with crispy duck. (gebratene Nudeln mit Knuspriger Ente). Very nice atmosphere and very welcoming and kind staff.

We were visiting Würzburg and this sushi bar was recommended to us. So I can only report positive things. Very competent and friendly service. It's crazy that there are still waitresses who remember everything correctly, come back later and know what everyone had and then calculate the correct prices for everyone. There were seven of us, 4 children and 3 adults. Great. In addition, everyone, from young to old, enjoyed the food really well. The price-performance ratio is completely fine. Very nice little restaurant. I think the food is of very high quality. For example, we ate, among other things, pasta with shrimp. There were 20+ quite large shrimps on this one plate alone for a very acceptable price. My sushi was also very tasty.

Food was very tasty and very nicely prepared. See photo (plate for 2 people) The restaurant is small and there isn't much space between tables - it's better to reserve a table, it fills up quickly. The service was friendly. However, something that bothered us was that we received the bill directly after our meal without any consultation or request.

I just ordered food here. The food arrived lukewarm to cold with a delivery time of 15 minutes (I live nearby). The duck was soggy and partly dry. It definitely wasn't fresh and was probably warmed up briefly in the microwave, or at least that's how it tasted. Way too much rice, not enough sauce. Drink also arrived unrefrigerated with hardly any carbonation. The order tasted as if it had been over-prepared hours before and then, when my order came in by chance, it was briefly reheated and ready. Just disgusting. I immediately threw it away and complained to the delivery service because I couldn't reach anyone at Sumo Sushi. For some unknown reason they added two small containers of sweet and sour sauce. I don't know what they were for, but they didn't smell fresh either, so they ended up in the trash. Definitely the first and last time I order there. Seriously disappointed.
