Poor quality and high price never again

I've eaten here several times, both to-go and in the restaurant, and I'll allow myself the following review: The food components taste pretty good on their own - especially the slightly crispier chicken is a green flag - and the shop is chic. I have to deduct one star for the following reasons: There is massive potential for improvement with the sauce: With doner kebabs and doner kebab boxes, I've always experienced blobs of sauce on top. That's not acceptable. With a doner kebab, you have to spread the sauce on top and bottom of the bread, otherwise you'll have no sauce left after the first few bites! Likewise with the doner kebab box, you have to put sauce once in the middle and once on top, otherwise you'll have nothing left at the bottom! And once the coleslaw was terribly over-salted and I feel like the only response I got when I asked about it was "ok 😐".

The food was okay, but the female staff member taking the order was extremely aggressive and lied to me. I couldn't find anyone to complain to. I'll be sure to tell everyone about this.

It would be nice not to get the doner kebab from the warming container

The quality of the food was generally quite good, but the meat (grilled plate) was way overcooked, and the waitress was incredibly stressed, although very friendly and accommodating, but overwhelmed. Accordingly, the drink I ordered never arrived. Asking three times within the first five minutes of sitting down whether you've decided seems, well... a bit tense and gives the customer the impression that you're trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible. A little more calm and thus a better eye for detail would do both customers and employees good. I can still recommend you, but slow down a bit. Best regards

The food is delicious and the service is fast. It is one of the best Turkish restaurants in Kiel, Germany. The location of the restaurant is excellent. You can take a tour of the city after eating.

If you want fast, very good, and affordable food with generous portions, this is the place to go! Always packed at lunchtime and on weekends, so it's best to pre-order. Highly recommended!

Here, they're clearly cutting corners again...and that's on the meat! If I want to order a vegetarian Dürum, I'll order one. Brief summary: I was here two years ago and tried a Dürum. I noticed there was very little meat in it. Today, I took a closer look and noticed the same thing. Only this time, I asked the colleague at the to-go bar if he could add more meat... Answer: Brother is normal Never again!

Cold soft fries, watery and greesy salad. The chicken is not that impressive either.

I was about to leave a nice comment when I asked the guy at the cash register a question and he almost attacked me by saying "Is this place changed?" He said, "I always go to this place, the food is much more delicious than before." He didn't swear at me but it's obvious that all the employees have changed. Still, 5 stars for the employees. It would be good if the guy working at the cash register would clean up his clothes a little.

The chicken was fresh and delicious, as was the bread. The waitress came by frequently to ask if everything was okay. We ate there when it wasn't quite as busy and therefore not as loud. The interior is nicely decorated.

Their food is very delicious and the portion sizes are excellent.

We were deceived by the high ratings of this restaurant and sat down. We had the worst lahmacun we've had in a long time. The dough was so thick, they practically didn't include any meat. The kebabs were dry and overcooked. It was a huge regret for us.

The food was a complete disaster. The pide was not freshly made and had been reheated in the oven for the second time. The cheese was dried out, and the pide was rock hard. We ordered lamb skewers from the grill, but chicken skewers arrived. The ambiance was good, and the service was okay.

Best Kebab of Kiel. We come here every saturday and it never disappoints, good variety and quality is very high, authentic turkish food and staff. maybe some waiters could be a bit more polite and smile and service overall could improve but I understand we’re in north europe and so everyone is a bit more cold.

Be careful when paying. I paid with a card. The clerk said the card had been declined. But I was sure it showed "approved" and told him so. Oh well, he'll know better. So I had the card read again. Of course, I was charged twice. This is a real rip-off! He probably thought I was just a tourist during Kiel Week, so he could get away with it. I'll never eat there again and can't recommend it at all!

I absolutely loved the food, so I find it a shame and incomprehensible that some people are leaving such nasty comments. We sat down and were served at our table. The service was attentive, the food came quickly, and we were more than full. We'd love to come back :).

Wonderful Turkish cuisine. We were here last year, including during Kiel Week, and ended up here again. It was delicious again; we'll be back next year.

Last week, I tried the Ali Nazik dish here, which is one of the more expensive items on the menu. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed: The meat was streaked with tendons and fat. Especially with a dish like this, you expect tender, high-quality lamb—here, it seemed more like leftovers from lesser cuts. The yogurt and eggplant puree was okay, but it couldn't save the whole thing. I didn't finish the meal; I felt downright sick afterward. Definitely not worth the price.

Fast-food restaurant in the main train station If you have some time, you should go inside and eat in peace. The service is fast, but the downside is that the food is already prepared. Less than two minutes passed between ordering and delivery. It's much better than standing in line with walk-up customers. The food we ordered was delicious, and special requests were accommodated.

Lowkey was always good, but suddenly there were cartilage and some burnt pieces in it. PS: I was even drunk

Wonderful food. It immediately reminded me of my baba and the delicious food at home. We felt wonderfully comfortable. The portions were huge for the price and also incredibly tasty (the rice was simply amazing). In addition to the main courses, bread and sauces were served free of charge. Baklava and tea were also simply delicious. The staff are also super friendly. We'll be happy to come back next time. Thank you so much! ☺️

I ate at Sultans in Kiel with friends – each of us had a plate with rice, meat, and salad. Unfortunately, the dining experience was rather disappointing: The meat was raw in places and full of gristle, which made the meal less than enjoyable. I also found a hair in my salad and – as if that weren't enough – a piece of plastic. When I asked the staff about it, all I got was that "these things can happen" and that the plastic was probably from the salad wrapper. No apology, no accommodation – just a shrug. It's a shame, because the concept sounded promising. Instead of a relaxed meal, I ended up with an unwanted round of "find the foreign object." Those looking for culinary surprises might find something here – but personally, I prefer my food without side dishes from the hair salon.

Friendly staff. Wide variety of food. The falafel was a bit dry, the chicken a bit overcooked, but overall it was very tasty and recommended. The seating is worn and in need of renovation. Reasonable prices considering the good quality of the ingredients. There's a wide selection for vegetarians.

The food is a different world, it tastes outstanding! The staff seems a little stressed, but they do their job well! The kitchen is working at full speed and seems professional! You receive a very warm welcome. It's a shame we're from Hanover...

I ate a dürüm, and it was a disaster. I didn't like it at all. As soon as I started eating, everything on the side ripped open because the dürüm was FULL of sauce. You can see the disgusting meat in the video. I've eaten much better kebabs than this. Definitely not again for those prices!

Everyone has a bad day, and it seems that people at Sultans always do. All good things come in threes. Once again today, very disappointed. A Dürüm for €9, as small as a wrap, just as thin and quite cold to boot. The portion of fries was super light and cold and not at all crispy, and there was a teaspoon full of mayo on the side. Third time there, third time really disappointed. The normal snack bar around the corner or any other in the city centre is worlds better, cheaper and tastier. There won't be a fourth time. The little money is just too hard earned. From the outside it makes a good, classy impression but that's about it.

Very poor value for money. I ordered a kebab with just meat, and for €8.50 I got a whole four forks of meat. Very disappointed and not recommended. In terms of taste, it's a solid 5.

It's perfectly normal for a waiter to tell you to sit next to the restroom door and place your table 30 cm away. He says that's perfectly normal. The complaint has now been filed with the Ministry of Health, so we'll see if that's normal. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The food there has always been delicious, and the price-performance ratio is great. The shop itself is generally very nice, and the women's restroom has always been relatively clean. The service there is generally friendly, though there are some mixed reviews. All in all, everything's okay.

Super nice breakfast restaurant! We had sucuk with egg, spinach with egg, ayran, and tea...We were absolutely thrilled...We'll see you again next time we're in Kiel!

Very tasty food and very good service

Anyone who has ever eaten a Dürüm in Berlin or Saxony will understand this review. The flatbread is soggy, no wonder. The roll of dough felt like it had been in the oven for a minute; it has no colour at all. There's no red cabbage, no gherkins, just white cabbage, lots of onions and tomatoes... where are the rest of the vegetables? The veal in a Dürüm is TOTALLY gristly - how? So, what kind of leftovers do you have to eat that the meat is so gristly and tastes awful? Never again!

A doner kebab for €7 that's so tiny and has so little inside that it borders on extortion. An absolute disgrace. The taste, despite the bagged salad, is okay. Hence two stars. If you're hungry, this is the wrong place. If you don't want to get something for an overpriced price, this is the place. Update: I tried again yesterday, about a year after the last review. What you offer and what you charge for it is simply abysmal. Dried-out bagged salad, dry meat in a mini doner box at a ridiculous price. What has happened to your shop? You only survive because you're located in the train station and I'm catching the traffic. Otherwise, your shop would already be closed due to lack of customers. And that's exactly what you're relying on with your mini portions, with little taste but exorbitant prices. Rip-off, shame on yourselves!

I don't know where all the good reviews come from... The three of us came here for the first time in many years. None of us liked it, and then the prices were so high. The last time we were here, I had several pieces of cartilage stuck in my meat.

I've ordered several times. They don't give me an invoice or receipt. When I ask the driver for a receipt, he talks to me as if he's the boss of the whole city. What a shame.

We come here often. The food is delicious and varied. The service is always friendly and cheerful. We'll be back again and again.

The food was subpar, the meat had no taste and wasn't nice to look at, the sauce was the same, the service was taciturn and friendliness was lacking. Been there once and therefore the last time.

Super delicious – and have been for years! The lentil soup is an incredibly good starter that always tastes good. The grill plates and lunch dishes also impress with their real quality and really good taste. What's particularly nice is that there are free dips and a little greeting from the kitchen every now and then. The prices have remained fair - completely different than in many other restaurants. If you're looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for you.

Every time I'm in Kiel my path takes me here and has been for well over 10 years. Think that says it all!

No, unfortunately not anymore. Today we had the worst meal ever. We always enjoyed coming to eat here, but unfortunately that has changed today. The donner meat was limp and tasteless. Börek was cold in the middle and soggy, seemingly warmed up in oil. Fries tasted like they had been warmed up. The bread with the dips was old and like rubber. A sauce that was ordered didn't come at all!! Tea thin like dishwater. All in all a disappointment, Sultans was our regular Turkish restaurant!! Unfortunately a descent to a kebab shop in the lowest segment!! What a shame!!!! The usual quality is no longer even close!!

Laboe, April 22, 2025 The dishes at 'Sultans' are amazing, very good and tasty menus at fair prices that everyone can afford. The portions are generous and anyone who has reason to complain here won't find anything better in the larger area! If I'm traveling somewhere else, I avoid the kebab shop as a precaution. If I return via Kiel main station, Sultans is the first stop for me. Otherwise I'd happily forego a menu at other places! Always a pleasure to visit Sultans in the Kiel train station and thank you very much for your service!

It used to be better, the prices are overpriced and the food is good

I just wanted to treat myself to a kebab but I'm totally disappointed. This kebab is smaller than a children's kebab and the taste was what kebabs call nothing! That was definitely the last time I bought anything here. So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Allot of people recommended this place, I enjoyed their food first but after some time I saw less meat in my red-meat döner durum. This is unacceptable, today I made an order and when I came home to eat, it was all BREAD and Vegirables, absolutly no meat (mayhe 100g or less in a 8,5 euro durum), this is unacceptable. I also see the workers changing allot, maybe they don't know how much meet to put, some put less other put more, please let us know what is thr minimum meet we get, with all that much rating(above 4,5), you should have transparency and clearly make sure consumers get same product with same ingredients or let them know how much meat there is in your durum (100g 200g ??) As someone who came to Germany for a holiday from Istanbul; the food was extremely delicious, the service, the welcome, the atmosphere, the smiling faces of the employees, the interest and attention of the employer were very pleasing. Thank you very much. A place I will definitely stop by every time I come. A place I can easily come back to. I recommend it.

Just ordered kebab. The kebab was super small. I pointed this out to the kebab man. He shrugged and laughed. The meat is of inferior quality. Bland and quite light in color for veal. I work in Kiel and when the train doesn't run, I have to get food. Every time I get a kebab from Sultans I am disappointed. This isn't the first time but definitely the last time, because no more kebab at Sultans. Just sad

I've eaten in almost every city in Germany and have never seen anything this bad. The food is very bad, the service is very bad and expensive. Twice, even though I wanted the food without onions, they brought it with onions, and even though I wanted it well-cooked, they brought it undercooked. Also wrong food and waiters were very moody. They also gave very bad service. They made us wait for a long time and gave very bad service. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here. Ich habe in fast jeder Stadt Deutschlands gegessen und noch nie etwas so Schlimmes gesehen. Das Essen ist schlecht, der Service brandneu und teuer. Zweimal brachten sie es mit Zwiebeln, obwohl ich das Essen ohne Zwiebeln haben wollte, und obwohl ich es gut gegart haben wollte, brachten sie es ungekocht. Auch falsches Essen und Kellner waren sehr fettig. Sie haben auch einen sehr schlechten Service geboten. Sie ließen uns lange warten und boten einen sehr schlechten Service. As soon as we entered, we were greeted coldly. We waited for 40 minutes for the food. Even though we were not customers, the food that came was not at all what I expected. They do their job from scratch. I will never think of eating here again and I would never recommend it. I hope you can please warn your staff and take action as soon as possible.

I thought it was a good place but it wasn't, no food came to the table and we were kicked out by an employee working there with bad words and bad treatment, I hope the owner of the business will look into this situation and not victimize people.

Worst service I've ever seen, unfriendly and unprofessional, doesn't come when you want to order, reacts irritably. I can't say anything about the food because the waitress picked it up but didn't bring it before the train came.

Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. The meat on our doner kebab plates was only lukewarm and completely flavorless, and you pay €14 for that. The salad had a very sweet sauce, as if someone had poured sugar on it. Quite loud music was blaring in the background.

The most boring kebab I've ever eaten. Bread totally weird and sauces with zero seasoning.

We went to this restaurant for the first time. We were warned from the front door that there was no grill and no chips. There was a desire to get away from there immediately, but still we decided to stay with my husband and that was our mistake. We ordered a pide, two hot dishes and drinks. In the end the pide forgot to bring us, we had to remind her several times. Very rude staff.Bad mood. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Our visit to Sultans today was so disappointing compared to the previous ones! My bulgur was swimming in oil, my meat was dry and hard, small salad side dish, no dressing. My husband wanted a menu with fries... no fries there 😠... they simply shouldn't be available in a restaurant! My husband can't tolerate bulgur and rice! So he ordered a kebab. Which we then returned because of cold bread, dry meat and, rather significantly, as a children's kebab. I didn't expect friendliness either and so a new one was grumpily served, which was at least warm. In contrast to before, we are so disappointed... and say: we don't have to have it again. In this sense "Bon appetit 😬" Now there is the question of how much a meal cost... without fries there is no meal and therefore less money spent.

I bought a kebab plate there at 7 p.m. It was really a huge portion. It was really delicious and at 11 p.m. I went back to see if the portion had become more or less. It was a huge amount. It was really delicious 😋.

Unfortunately, it is always disappointing, the cut meat is cold and we sell it that way, and they always ask the customer if they would like chicken because it has been left lying around for a long time, the lahmacun and dürüm are also cold and wobbly. Customer satisfaction is not really taken into account here.

Nice restaurant in the train station, but thanks to the nice atmosphere inside you hardly notice that you are in a train station. Everything is still very quick, very tasty and there is always flatbread with tzatziki and hot sauce at the front for free.

Everything is always tip-top and flawless! Food great, service great, friendliness great. The menu is typically Arabic/Sultan. There are no wishes left unfulfilled.

Food, i.e. kebab and pide, is good. No extra requests were possible, and when the food was mixed up and we pointed it out, she became almost unfriendly.

In short: very tasty food, very large portions, good price The service was very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food, even though there were 8 of us who showed up. The portions are more than sufficient and correspond to the price. Gladly again :D
