Self-service like in a disco, and it's so well done that it doesn't matter at all to get up from the beer benches and join the hustle and bustle. Delicious cakes, good beer, tasty snacks and meals. I wish we had a place like this where I live.

It's incredibly loud inside at night, so it's not suitable for a casual conversation. Drink prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly. The ambiance is okay.

I really like Südblock, but just would like to share that all Tea come in plastic bags! Even the organic teas. To immerse plastic in boiling water then drink it, will not only interfere with the body's hormone system by mimicking, blocking, or disrupting natural hormones, but can cause a range of adverse health effects including reproductive problems, increased risk of certain cancers, metabolic issues like obesity and diabetes, immune system disturbances, and developmental problems, particularly in children. Disappointing

Go to spot for an affordable night out. Service is always great, food is fresh, drinks very generously poured, staff cool af and toilets clean.

Great bar. No smoking inside, large tables, and fantastic vegan cakes and food. Dogs are also welcome on leashes!

Love this place. There's always so many queer people chilling here. I love the atmosphere, the food is good, the prices for drinks are not too much. I wish they had more than 2 cashiers, because its gets very crowded after 19:00 and you need to stand in a long line to get served. Also, huge plus for gender-neutral toilets. Makes me feel very safe.

Took a group of 15-20 English-speaking fathers in Berlin here on a Friday night. The biergarten handled the advance reservation requests by email with short response times. The staff are very nice. Mostly you have to order at the bar and take your own food and drink to your table (they will give you a buzzer for when the food is ready). Food is fairly standard biergarten fare--mostly fried, the salad was very fresh and tasty. Maybe a few more options than a typical Berlin biergarten. But you're not going for the food, you're going to hang out with your friends. And it does that really well. The atmosphere is great, right in the heart of Kotti, the place is always busy especially on weekends. Good spot to start the evening and move on to music clubs later, if that is your thing. LGBTQ+ friendly.

Lured by the light in the rain, we ended up in the Südblock – and were pleasantly surprised. A relaxed place with a beautiful garden, uncomplicated service, and a pleasant atmosphere. We had a drink, and the food selection looked very good too. We'd love to go back!

Worst customer service I have ever come across. At 4pm on July 13, the guy with the curly black hair at the counter, should not be working there. Talking to us like we are not humans. I asked a simple question and he lost his temper. His behaviour was absolutely disgusting and if you’re gonna make people feel unwelcome and give them hostile poor attitude by simply asking a question, then you will continue to drive customers away. Find a better person for the job or this guy should find a job he actually likes so he can stop projecting his anger and ugliness on others.

Half beer garden, half pub, simple and uncomplicated. Self-service but very friendly staff. Perfect for a relaxed evening, if you don't mind birthday parties and bachelorette parties.

The gluten free beer here was delicious! Food is not celiac safe. Staff were amazing and helpful and advised me not to eat as unfortunately they use shared fryers for chips and Bio Currywurst.

I highly recommend this place. It's a place of diversity and togetherness. The fries are legendary. The tarte flambée with goat cheese is also highly recommended. There's a wheelchair-accessible restroom, parking is scarce, but public transport is pretty good.

Horrible food, at least twice the fries and certainly more than exhausted the oil. The fried squid, which was anything but squid, tasted truly disgusting! I think it's the most touristy place in Berlin... a real trap that really eats up money... first and last time...!!

We always ask ourselves why we want to sit outside at the loudest spot in Kreuzberg, 36. There are good reasons. Just stopping by answers the question. Come on by – we're already there.

We attended a birthday party at South Block with many friends and really enjoyed the delicious loaded fries. Unfortunately uncool: The birthday child received beautiful flowers, which we stored in an empty glass of water. The employee took it away from us without a word and put the flowers on the table - he “needs the glass now”.

Best queer neighbourhood hang out in Kreuzberg! Cheap food and drinks, lovely beer garden and great staff! Patio closes around 23-00h though as to not disturb the neighbours.

This place is very chill and kind people work there! I love the outside area, it's very familiar and reminds me of being in a small place. The fact that you can have coffee and Kuchen but also beer and food is amazing since that's not very usual in Berlin! It's like a modern Biergarten.

This place is great! They've got a really nice atmosphere and everything you need for a good time with friends.

This is a safe space for all people. If ever I’m going on a date, meeting a friend or welcoming family from outside of town I like to bring them here. It’s vibrant, easy to get to and a lot of fun. The staff are all excellent, very friendly and they work fast. Sometimes you’ll see a long queue to place your order but don’t let that worry you, it moves very fast and the people who prepare the drinks work quickly. If you’re not a local Südblock is a good place to practice your German. I’m still learning but I find the staff taking orders are friendly and go slowly if they hear you are trying. And if all else fails they are happy to switch to English. It’s a good place for cake with a lot of tasty options. They serve good food until late so you really can spend a long time here. Südblock is very easy to get to via u-bahn so you don’t have to walk far which can be a point of concern for more vulnerable members of society. It has a spacious, and fun interior. The outdoor area is very large, colorful and nearly all the tables are covered over. One of the best spots in Berlin.

I work in a hostel in Kreuzberg, and I always recommend my guests to visit this bar. It’s my favorite gem of Kotti with :Vor Wien to be honest. It can be crowded, but the outside area offers so much space that you’re always able to have conversations with your friends without having to speak louder, they also host drag Kings/ Queens shows from time to time. just go there

An oasis of chill and kind people! The food is really good, but it is no place of haute cuisine or for a candle light dinner. I would say classy snacks. To people from the countryside: yes there are large streets, crossroads and a tube as well. You will not be surrounded by silence but by pulsing life in and outside of the buildings around Südblock. Perfect place to spend summer afternoons. The terrace is very nice and large. The workers are very friendly and the audience is very mixed queer. The only bad thing I see is that in the afternoons it gets very crowded and to order something, there is a fairly long queue, since there are only two boxes to order. But without a doubt it is my favorite place for the summer.

Generally an ok place, cheap drinks (low quality tequila, so I got a hangover), but the atmosphere is solid. Didn't eat anything when I was there, it was in full on bar mode

Fast and good service. The selection of side beers is small. However, beggars will not give you peace. The place itself has the flavor of Berlin. The atmosphere is good.

It's easy to get there by train. The food is not too expensive and tastes fantastic.

Hip and relaxed place, lots of seating outside. Had twice food here, they serve mainly salads, fries, burgers, and something that looks like very thin squared pizzas. Lots of vegetarian and some vegan options.

A really good place to chill and chat in the hustle and bustle of the city. The rustic fries are great. And the garlic mayo and curry sauce are also great. It is uncomplicated, without any airs and graces and urban.

Little oasis (beergarden) in the heart of Kreuzberg

Good location, nice atmosphere. A very trendy location if you are looking for such places.

The 'Südblock' at Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg offers a unique and alternative beer garden experience. We met two Frenchmen and a Viking there and had a very pleasant and entertaining evening in a colorful, relaxed atmosphere. Despite minor incidents where the beer garden fence was almost kicked down twice, we were able to enjoy our drinks and the surroundings. Kreuzberg is an incredibly exciting district that is very different from Mitte, even if there can occasionally be unpleasant experiences at the Kottbusser Tor subway station. Overall, an authentic and alternative experience that shines particularly through the diversity and charm of the Kreuzberg district.
