There's also an open kitchen, so you can watch the chef. Very cool! We and our little Shiba Inu dog felt very comfortable. 👍🏽 Service: The two waitresses are also great! Very friendly, cheerful, and special requests (such as lots of/extra cilantro and a small bowl of extra Thai chili) were accommodated and even welcomed. 👍🏽 Food: Our food was excellent and authentically Thai. Both the appetizer (Laap Ghai) and the main course (Pad Thai with shrimp & Peth Makham "Suan Thai") were delicious and the portion sizes (for us) were perfect. We've eaten a lot of Pad Thai, and this was one of the best. 👍🏽

Location/Atmosphere: Located on the beach promenade, in the "Ahlbecker Hof" hotel. A well-kept Asian-style restaurant with a glass ceiling, making it nice and bright. Lots of (real) green plants, unfortunately, some plastic orchids. A shame. Spacious floor plan with enormous ceiling heights. A visible kitchen where you can watch Asian chefs at work without being disturbed by noise or unpleasant smells. Well-equipped, very clean restrooms. Attentive (Polish) service staff, like almost everywhere in Heringsdorf. Surprisingly few customers for an evening in high season. Perhaps because there is no outdoor area? Cost/Quality: Meals for 2 people: 1 starter shared 2 soups 1 main course shared + Non-alcoholic drinks Total: €50 per person + tip The food was plentiful, even though it was shared. Flavorfully varied and interesting. Conclusion: The ambiance is perfect. The food is stimulating. Fair value for money. We'll be happy to come back.

As locals, we visit the restaurant more often than the typical guest. The consistent quality and hospitality are fantastic! We enjoy coming here often.

We ate at this restaurant today, and I have to say I've never had such bad Asian food. And the prices for the food served there are way too high.

We discovered this restaurant by chance and decided to eat there (since we'd been ignored by the waiters at the Italian restaurant right next door for quite some time). We were immediately greeted warmly by a friendly lady. We were immediately offered a table and brought the menu. All in all, we can only say that we were satisfied. The food was absolutely delicious. The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted absolutely fantastic. And the portion sizes were fantastic. We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

Thank you - first of all 🙏 It's difficult to find a restaurant on the island where you can find such warm and pleasant service. Not here; we were warmly welcomed and cared for. We received excellent advice on the dishes, and everything tasted delicious. I had vegan curry, my companion had vegetables and noodles, all deliciously seasoned. The ambiance is wonderful; you eat and you're in Thailand. The price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. This wasn't our first time here, and it won't be our last. Thank you very much 🙏

Unfortunately, I can't even give the food a single star. We've never had such bad Asian food, especially for that price. Even the waitress had to admit the food wasn't edible. They offered me dessert, but I politely declined. We definitely won't be going back.

I've never had such bad Thai food. The vegetables under the duck were a few overcooked lettuce leaves and a few shredded carrots. No bamboo shoots to be seen. And all for €30!!! Any snack bar can do better! I'll never go there again.

Highly recommended. Admittedly, the price is a bit high, but the excellent quality of the food and the warm service are more than justified. We started with two soups (chicken and shrimp soup), which were exotic, fresh, and simply delicious. For main courses, we had the green Thai curry with chicken and the fried salmon. Both were also excellent. We didn't get to try the dessert because the portions were too large, but we'll have that later. A successful evening! I would especially like to emphasize the super-friendly and attentive service, which immediately makes you feel welcome.

Fantastic cultural experience for Ostsee-loving people. The food is incredibly authentic. The food is a bit too sweet (you can also find the best one in the past). The ingredients are very net and friendly. Satisfied and tasty are both delicious and nutritious. Vegan and vegetarian food is also very tasty. The food is delicious. The service is very good. The Thai menu has a few typos, but the German menu is very detailed and there is no problem in ordering.

We were there for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled. It was better to make a reservation, though, as it's always busy. The reception and staff were very friendly and very attentive, which is something we're not used to in Berlin. If we're ever here again, this will be our restaurant—amazing! Highly recommended.

Mal weg von Fischbrötchen & Co.? Thailändisch essen in Ahlbeck auf hohem Niveau, das gibt es im Suan Thai, gleich neben dem Ahlbecker Hof. Alleine die Innendekoration ist sehr geschmackvoll und versetzt einen nach Südostasien. Eine überaus freundliche Bedienung empfängt und platziert einen an einem der nicht einmal allzu zahlreichen Tischen. Ja, manchmal ist reservieren nötig, kommt man außerhalb der Hauptzeiten, sollte es aber eigentlich kein Problem sein, einen Tisch zu bekommen. Und das Essen? Kleine Karte, nicht allzu viele verschiedene Gerichte, aber diese wenigen auf hohem und - wie uns schien - authentischem Niveau. Und preislich? Sicherlich nicht das günstigste Restaurant (Fischbrötchen kostet weniger), aber ein sehr angemessenes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Beim nächsten Usedom-Trip werden wir wieder hier essen. Eindeutiger Tip!

Great service, real Thai cuisine and very tasty food

I'm not sure who in the kitchen or in the service was in Thailand or comes from Thailand. In every Asian snack bar in Berlin it tastes better... and damn expensive - a starter of a prawn, spring roll, satay skewer made of molded meat and a Taost for 17€ and the main course of crispy duck with rice for 30€ is very cheeky... but every tourist only comes once... I have no idea who writes the positive reviews? not recommended…

In den vergangenen Jahren waren wir jetzt insgesamt 3 x hier. Hervorzuheben ist, dass auch die selben Personen im Service sind, die uns immer gut bedient haben. Bitte so beibehalten. Man fühlt sich stets gut bedient, auch wenn es für die beiden Damen stressig ist, wenn es voll ist. Das Essen entspricht jedem guten Asiaten, den es überall in Deutschland gibt. Man kriegt das, was man erwartet. Die Ente war bisher immer gut, entgegen den anderen Rezensionen. Die Preise entsprechen einem Tourismusort. Hund stets willkommen. Wenn wir wieder hier sind, kommen wir wieder.

Solid food for the price of fine dining. I actually avoid talking about prices in reviews - after all, they are on the menu and no one is forced to visit a place that is outside their budget. In this case, however, some of the pricing is difficult to understand, and I don't want to leave that unmentioned: over €30 for a small portion of duck breast with broccoli, rice and a peanut sauce, the taste of which is reminiscent of various train station Thais, is ambitious. In contrast, other, much more elaborately prepared dishes seemed almost cheaper for the same price. Since we tried both, the overall balance was equal - the feeling of price-performance discrepancy still remains. Overall it tasted good, but I don't need a second visit.

Ate very well. We shared: shrimp soup (Tom Yam Gung), spring rolls, wok beef, salmon. EVERYTHING was very tasty, excellently seasoned, the vegetables were fresh and everything was cooked to perfection. I would have liked the salmon to be a little less well-done, a matter of opinion - my wife likes it more well-done. The rice was light and "fluffy". There is rather little choice, in my opinion a sign of quality. The service - always attentive. Nice atmosphere, sometimes without dogs, as is often the case in Ahlbeck.

We had reserved a table in advance. Unfortunately it wasn't easy to find because it was built between two hotels. The ambience is very nice at first glance. If you look closely, you can see stained walls and the bases of the lamps could use a wipe. The staff was stressed, even though there weren't even many tables occupied. The food looked great and tasted very tasty too. Something different. Unfortunately, several families appeared to be attending a children's birthday party, with the children being very loud and unable to behave. This disrupted the coziness of the restaurant enormously. Dishes also broke more than once. Unfortunately, we were no longer noticed by the staff and had to wait a long time for payment. We can still recommend this restaurant.

Sorry, but that was the absolute most expensive and worst takeaway meal ever. Every Vietnamese fast food joint on the next corner does it better. Carelessly put together with old ingredients at outrageous prices that are disproportionate. Never again and not recommended at all 🙄 I have no idea what the management is thinking 🤨 Things were completely different a few years ago!

Unfortunately, I have to say that our visit to Suan Thai Restaurant today was a huge disappointment. I've visited this restaurant several times in the past and always enjoyed it, but the quality of the food has declined significantly each time. For nostalgic reasons, we wanted to give the restaurant another chance, but it was simply outrageous. The starter, at €30 for two people, was simply outrageous. What we were served was greasy, deep-fried food that had absolutely nothing to do with Asian cuisine. A toasted sandwich with minced meat—really? That was absolutely inedible. The main courses, even though they were labeled "not spicy," were barely edible. The taste was horrible, and we all had stomach upsets afterward—all three of us felt sick and nauseous. On the positive side, however, the service deserves special mention. The young lady who served us was always friendly, attentive, and helpful. Unfortunately, even she couldn't make up for the disappointing quality of the food. We will definitely never come back.

I've rarely eaten so badly! Starters for two people (€30.00), flavored with "old frying oil," absolutely abysmal! Main course lacking any Asian spices, dry and disgusting. The food would be completely unacceptable even for an Asian snack bar—a real disgrace for a restaurant! Never again!!!

Erst haben uns die jüngsten negativen Bewertungen etwas abgeschreckt, aber zum Glück haben wir uns dann doch zu einem Besuch entschieden. Da wir regelmäßig asiatische Restaurants besuchen, sind wir in der Lage ein relativ objektives Urteil zu fällen. Von Beginn an bis zum Ende ein außerordentlich positives genussvolles Erlebnis. Der Service dezent und dennoch engagiert, die Küche als 1-Mann-Betrieb bei ca. 40 bis 50 Gästen auf den Punkt. Sowohl Vorspeise als auch Hauptgang sind ausdrücklich zu empfehlen. Es wurde gefragt, ob zum Hauptgang spezielle Soßen gewünscht werden. Diese haben wir ausgiebig genossen. Ein Besuch in diesem Restaurant ist absolut empfehlenswert. Jeder kann auch mal einen schlechten Tag haben, aber das ist dann "Gott gewollt". Es wäre schön, wenn einige "Bewerter" auch ein wenig mehr Misserfolgstoleranz walten lassen würden. Alles in allem ein kulinarisches Highlight für den Usedom Urlaub.

Unfortunately only three stars. Anyone expecting Thai will unfortunately be disappointed. The only Thai thing next to the location is the employee in the “show kitchen”. He portions the rice, cuts the tofu cubes and the chili, which is then added over the dishes. Cooking Thai means adding spices while cooking, not sprinkling them on later! The main kitchen is not visible and gives the impression that it is only being warmed up. If it is advertised as Thai, then please make sure the entire program and the service staff are at least Asian in this price range.

The ambience is awesome. The food is super good and the prices are really good.

We had ordered the beef with vegetables and were looking forward to a first-class meal, also because of the very high price of €32 per portion. When the food came, we were amazed at how carelessly the beef was cut (instead of slices, it was cubes) and when we tasted it we noticed how tough it was! The vegetables were raw and the thin sauce was just salty and tasted so much like a flavor enhancer that it bordered on bodily harm! We love Asian food and eat it very often, but never, really never! We were served such bad food!!! We're not really like that, but we had to return this meal because it was completely unacceptable, especially at that price! The waitress, who was initially very reserved, was very understanding and apologized several times and tested the meat and agreed with us, but we politely declined the suggestion to choose another meal because we had lost our appetite! We will definitely never visit this restaurant again!!!

The duck died in vain :-( + Ambiance friendly service - Eat Prices The external appearance tempted us to visit. We were warmly welcomed there. After looking at the menu and the prices, we expected the big cinema. It's not every day that you eat a pink roasted duck on vegetables with rice for €32. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn't live up to its appearance. The taste (and that's the most important thing when it comes to food) was below average. A completely acidic sauce ultimately spoiled the duck permanently. The second main course (duck in peanut sauce) didn't stand out as anything special either! The waitress kindly acknowledged our criticism by pointing out the recipes, but nothing came of it (coffee or schnapps on the house). Conclusion: A completely overpriced evening that we had for a long time due to stomach acid and belching!

+ Ambiente freundliche Bedienung - Essen Preise Der äußere Schein verleitete uns zu einem Besuch. Dort wurden wir freundlich empfangen. Nach dem Blick in die Karte und auf die Preise erwarteten wir das große Kino. Eine rosa gebratene Ente auf Gemüse mit Reis für 32€ isst man nicht alle Tage. Leider hielt die Küche nicht das, was der äußere Schein verspricht. Der Geschmack (und das steht ja beim Essen ja nun mal an erster Stelle) bewegte sich im unteren Mittelmaß. Eine völlig übersäuerte Soße verdorben die Ente letztlich nachhaltig. Auch das zweite Hauptgericht (Ente in Erdnusssoße) stach nicht durch etwas Besonderes hervor! Die Bedienung nahm unsere Kritik mit dem Hinweis auf die Rezepte freundlich zur Kenntnis, ohne dass daraus etwas folgte (Kaffee oder Verdauungsschnäpschen aufs Haus). Fazit: Ein völlig überteuerter Abend, von dem wir durch Magensäure und Aufstoßen lange etwas hatten!

Wir waren bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Beim letzten Besuch waren wir sehr enttäuscht. Das Essen erfüllte nicht unserem Geschmack. Der Service hat sehr nach gelassen und entsprach nicht der Preiskategorie. Wir hoffen, das es ein einmaliger Ausrutscher war. Ansonsten würden wir es nicht mehr weiterempfehlen.

As a Berliner you have a wide range of Asian restaurants and may be a little spoiled. The service staff (all Polish that day) was very friendly and attentive. The location is great. Unfortunately, there are deductions for the dishes that didn't really suit our tastes. This is probably also because the dishes are prepared in the Ahlbecker Hof's commercial kitchen and not by the only visible Asian in the show kitchen area. Conclusion: You can, but you don't have to, even given the high price of food and drinks

We were there for a birthday and were incredibly positively surprised!! A very nice, attentive Polish service! The other (Indian?) waiter was also very professional. The food was top notch and very authentically prepared in the open kitchen. Plus a delicious drink in a cozy atmosphere. We have rarely felt so comfortable as locals in a restaurant on the island! Es war unsere erste Erfahrung mit thailändischem Essen und es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt! Mit der Angabe der Schärfe-Stufen müssen wir uns noch ausprobieren, da es für unsere Geschmacksnerven manchmal ein wenig zu scharf war! Aber dies ist ja vielleicht auch Gewöhnungssache bzw. Tagesform abhängig! Der Service war rundum perfekt! Sehr aufmerksam, sehr kompetent und absolut sympathisch ( es gab viel zu lachen !) Wir werden definitiv wieder dort Essen gehen und freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch!

Besuch am 31.12.2024 Ambiente ok, aber im Vergleich mit anderen Asiaten nicht herausragend. Wir wurden platziert, Tisch nochmal problemlos gewechselt, da zu klein. Vorspeisenplatte für 2 Personen sehr überschaubar. Ente kross wie zähes Leder, als Trostplaster hab‘s einen Schnaps auf‘s Haus. Preis/ Leistung sehr schlecht (Ente 32,-€). Disappointing, the only thing that was authentic was the ambience. The food was carelessly placed on the plate. The main course without any subtlety in taste. It's a shame, I was expecting something of high quality given the prices and the description.

Sehr schönes Ambiente und das Essen ist wirklich super. Ich fand es etwas schade, dass die junge Frau (Bedienung) am gestrigen Tage 18.12.24) gerannt ist wie eine verrückte und immer total freundlich war, sie musste ca 15 Tische bedienen und die männliche Person stand hinter dem Tresen und hatte eigentlich nichts zu tun, ab und zu hat er mal die dreckigen Teller in die Küche gebracht. Unser Essen stand ca 6 Minuten fertig zubereitet da und er schaute es sich immer wieder an, aber es wurde dann irgendwann von der ständig flitzenden weiblichen Bedienung gebracht. Da könnte man vielleicht dran arbeiten, ansonsten einfach top.

Suan Thai was tastefully decorated in a typical local style without any kitschy accessories. You were brought to your seat without a long wait. The staff was friendly, our service was Eastern European, hearty but always attentive and eager to have fun. The selection of dishes is extensive but not random, the quality is good and fresh. Unfortunately the dips are ready-made products but still delicious. If you ordered a bottle of white wine, it came to the table in a cooler. The wontons are recommended with the typical Thai sauce. The price of the dishes was moderate and corresponded to the level of the region.

We wanted to go to this restaurant today without a reservation. Arriving around 6:40 p.m., we asked for a table for 4 people. A service person came to the reception area and said we should please go for a walk for another 20 minutes and then come back again. Tables will be available soon. We were back in the restaurant with 4 people, 2 of whom were children, after 20 minutes and the lady (the same lady, by the way) who sent us off again couldn't remember anything and said there was no table left for 4 people this evening. Why don't you say that right away and not send the customers asking them to come back again? This has nothing to do with customer friendliness. And then blaming us for the fact that there are only two staff today - that's not possible. We as customers cannot help the shortage of skilled workers. What is very annoying is that the lady could have told us straight away that there was no table left for our group. We could have spent the time looking for an alternative.

Wir hatten reserviert und wurden freundlich empfangen. der Service war in gebrochenem Deutsch geschäftsmäßig freundlich, keinesfalls aber über Gebühr freundlich wie von anderen Gästen beschrieben. Was uns wirklich enttäuscht hat ist die Abzocke ( anders kann man es nicht nennen) für die Getränkepreise. 1 Flasche 0,75 l Wasser für 9,50 € !!! Dieses italienische Wasser kostet im Handel max. 1,29 €. Das Essen war gut aber eben nicht sternemässig wie man durch die Preise vermitteln will. Dafür müssten dann auch mal die defekten Deckenlampen getauscht werden. Insgesamt ist das Preis/ Leistungsangebot leider nicht stimmig.

Sehr schönes Ambiente und das Personal war super freundlich. Das Essen lecker und die Portion angemessen.

Ordered a table here based on the good reviews. If the facility is authentic, then we also expect the appropriate staff. Asian staff only seemed to be working in the open kitchen. You can see prices in advance on the Internet, so it's no surprise. However, the restaurant belongs to the Ahlbecker Hof, a five star hotel. Accordingly, we also expected the service. Don't suffer from seeing or feeling anything about it. Food was okay for us, unfortunately the rice was served in an open bowl and therefore quickly got cold. Conclusion: no recommendation.

It's been a long time since we had Thai food again and we weren't disappointed. The spring rolls were crispy because they were not served in the familiar, thin dough, but in their own crispy coating in a different way. They also tasted very good. The main courses were very good both in terms of quantity and quality. We were very positively surprised and would eat there again at any time.

Duck dish was good, the ambience was still okay, but a bit too little for an Asian restaurant. Service did not stand up to this exorbitant price structure. Price-performance ratio not given here.
