Strandhaus in Hagen

We went to the beach house for brunch with the whole family. Yes, it was Sunday and it was well attended and I understand that with almost 200 guests (according to an employee) you sometimes have to queue at the buffet and not everything is always there. But if you even put up a sign that says you should speak to the staff if there is no food, then you simply can't react in annoyance and complain when someone politely asks the said employee about the missing scrambled eggs... That was really embarrassing for my guests. The fact that the same person told the guests when they arrived when they had to clear the table before anyone had even been to the buffet was also not possible. In terms of taste, everything was okay for the price, and the selection was also perfectly fine... even if some of my guests unfortunately didn't get scrambled eggs or dessert. A delay in serving might perhaps make more sense if only certain quantities are calculated.

Tasty, varied menu, but this leads to long waiting times for larger groups. No problem thanks to the comfortable seating. Dogs allowed very well. The individual drink reordering that does not affect the entire group could be improved. Nice view. If the weather is good, a walk across the lake is possible afterwards. We liked the acoustic ceiling better than in some other open locations, which makes a longer stay comfortable even when there's a lot of chatting. Repeat possible😊

The breakfast was great and the service was great

I went to the cafe with my wife twice - and at least once too many! The location is great, food and drinks are okay. The male service doesn't work at all. The first time we sat on the terrace, which was of course very full when the weather was nice. I got us a drinks menu - without complaint - and the young waiter INSULTED me that he was responsible for it. I'm sorry, what? Last Sunday we went to the cafe again because my wife wanted a coffee. It was full again (breakfast parties) and we found a table that wasn't reserved until 30 minutes later. The young waitress agreed that we could have a coffee and was very friendly. Then the aforementioned waiter appeared again, looked ostentatiously at his watch and told us in an unfriendly tone that he would make an exception. Before I could say anything, he turned around and disappeared. Everything would have been fine, but he probably had to blow the boss out. The waitress was also very uncomfortable. That's it for the cafe.

Great location, the terrace is super nice when the sun is shining, the food was very tasty, the cake was ok. Only the service wasn't very attentive at the beginning and had to ask several times to be allowed to order something. But all in all very good, I'll be back. The salad and fries were extremely tasty and crispy, just as it should be.

We were at the beach house on Sunday and thought it was great! Great location, great and simple selection of drinks and super lovely staff who put in a lot of effort. However, we were very shocked by the unfriendliness of the people! It's to be expected that such a popular place with a great location will be crowded on a sunny Sunday, but then I wonder why people complain that it's so busy?! It speaks FOR the beach house and shows that the business is running. Big praise to the team and especially the service that had to organize this mass of people. It's clear that you have to wait longer for your order or for the waiter. We were in the back area of ​​the restaurant and despite the stress we were served very nicely and the young man tried to take care of everyone! And when you see people arguing loudly with the service staff, you can't help but feel sorry for the young people who are doing their best. Our experience report with the Strandhaus Hagen will hopefully give future brides and grooms the chance to choose another location early on. Seven months ago we chose the beach house for our wedding reception. Four weeks before the date, the managing director informed us that a newly launched raver festival with loud house music would take place on the same day, which would accompany our wedding. Formally he is in the right, since Beach and Strandhaus operate separately. Thanks to the network of many restaurateurs, we found a replacement location within four weeks. We recommend that every bride and groom look for a more authentic location, as the beach house seems to give priority to large events. The location is really nice on the lake, but the service was a disaster. After ordering, despite asking, we waited over an hour for drinks and food. Then unfortunately left without food or drink. Too bad!

Great atmosphere!!! 👍great if you went for a walk. The cake was very cold and tiny for the price, the mulled wine came lukewarm and went back again. We went to dinner with 11 people on January 24th, 2025 and then made a reservation for curling at the Strandhaus Hagen. The food and service were great! They absolutely deserve 5 stars (thanks to Matthias + crew!!!!) Curling was an absolute disaster!!! 5 blades (three small, 2 large blades) for shooting were a complete disgrace given the price. Unfortunately, this means that no sensible game can take place. The 2nd hole was also occupied - with all the woods!!!!! That can't be right - that's a straight 6! If the service hadn't been so good I would have given the beach house less than one point! The previous message on the AB was about the weather!!! that didn't bother us!!

We went to the brunch buffet at the beach house at Hengsteysee. It was very tasty and there was a lot of choice. The service this Sunday was super nice, quick and courteous. A next visit will follow.

Rooms and staff are actually really good, but it's far too loud during events to even get a glimpse of it. Music so loud that you can hear every word sung and the floor vibrates from the bass. Of course, the music continues after 1 a.m. I'll never come here again.

Simply great!😃 The ambience is truly breathtaking and the food surpassed everything. First we played curling for an hour, the music was turned on outside, the game was explained in detail and drinks were brought out. After playing we ate there. There were 8 of us and all of us were more than satisfied. The waitresses are courteous and quick. We waited about 15 minutes for the food and then all 8 of us got it at the same time. Everyone had something different and every dish was delicious. We will come back in the summer and have a good time on the huge terrace. 10/10 ⭐️ Highly recommended!

Rating refers to breakfast: We were looking for a place to have breakfast while passing through last Friday and found out about the buffet in the beach house via Google. Booked and arrived at short notice, it was extremely busy but the service was still very good, attentive and friendly. We had a great breakfast and also got our parking ticket refunded. Price/performance was really top for this breakfast. 6.90 pp plus 5 EUR for the drinks is really very cheap... If we lived closer, we would come back more often! PS: The view of the lake is also very nice while eating in winter...

We were here "just" for a coffee and tea, but we were really thrilled, service (even though almost the seats were full) was very friendly, we were served immediately, thumbs up 👍👍Chocolate cake, very tasty, coffee was great and tea, fresh Mint, we'll definitely be back, even for dinner.

We were there for brunch. Everything was fine. Only the time limit (2.5 hours) should be reconsidered. This is a little "crunchy" for breakfast and hot dishes.

The ambience at the Seeleuchte view is lovely! But the food outside was a complete disaster. You sometimes had to wait in line for 45 minutes for drinks because there was only one sale. Warm drinks sometimes took a really long time to warm up. It's a shame for such a lovely event.

If you find yourself in the embarrassment of having to spend the night in Hagen, the beach house is a good choice. The location, view and service offer worthy compensation for the otherwise rather meager offerings in the city. There is also a reasonable breakfast. The rooms are small and functional.

It's really beautiful here. We've been there twice for breakfast, which you can order online, and once in the outside area in the afternoon with fries and a beer. I would be happy with a grain roll for breakfast and would be happy to pay a little more. Everything is well organized and everyone is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Nice shop, service nice & friendly. It was relatively full and we waited an incredibly long time for the food. Burger was cold, fries could have been better. Bowl was carelessly prepared and tasted the same. Goulash soup looked like it came from a can and unfortunately tasted like it too... Cappuccino was good, the lemonades tasted like Ahoi Brause, much too sweet (although it's a matter of taste, but for me it wasn't a "soda") The location of the restaurant is very good, the outdoor area is beautifully designed. The toilets were rather dirty and smelled very unpleasant.

I was here again today for a night and dinner. First of all: The restaurant impressed me today with the new winter menu. The offer was extensive and varied. My “beach house” pasta with crabs were absolutely delicious and absolutely okay in terms of price. The restaurant was 2/3 full, but not too loud. I would like to recommend both the food and the ambience. The few hotel rooms in the beach house are still good and inexpensive, especially for this great location. I took a walk to the other side of the lake in the early evening. Very pleasant!

We were here spontaneously in the evening during the week and it was beautiful. Surprisingly there was live music and with the warm autumnal weather the terrace is a dream 🥰 Loving service. 5-star rating: Schlagerparty 2024 – a complete success despite the rain! We took part in the Schlagerparty 2024 in the beach house at Hengsteysee and were thrilled! Despite the bad weather and rain, the service was outstanding. Staff went to great lengths to wipe down all tables and chairs regularly so guests could sit dry and comfortably. You could immediately tell that the team was excellently organized and that Ms. Henning had a very good handle on her employees - that was really top class! The audience was also in a great celebratory mood and the entire evening was in a great atmosphere. The service was absolutely top notch – attentive, friendly and always with a smile. We felt completely at home and would definitely like to come back! Many thanks to the entire team for this successful evening – a wonderful experience despite the rain!

Were only there for breakfast. Price of €5.90 for buffet was okay. However, the selection is manageable compared to other providers. A cup of coffee for €2.90 is a steep price, but it would be okay if the quality was right. But that wasn't true. It was a machine failure that I have never experienced before with such poor quality. The ambience is okay. Staff was friendly. Overall, no reason for a repeat. Upgrade to answer: My wife and our daughter chose the drinks flat rate. The filter coffee actually tastes different, but not better. Ambiance isn't everything. You're happy to pay more for quality. But you don't need it here, as the quality offered is not based on the price level.

Beautiful location with a large outdoor terrace overlooking the lake and a beautiful bar and beach area below the outdoor terrace. Nevertheless: The design of the outdoor terrace itself is rather practical and definitely expandable. The food was at best half-priced and, at 14 euros for a wrap, quite overpriced. The salad inside was drowning in sauce and the outside of the wrap was partly cold and soggy. And it wasn't nicely prepared either.

I was there today with a friend. The atmosphere was very nice, but the waiter was absolutely unfriendly. I asked another employee in advance by phone whether there were completely gluten-free dishes there because I suffer from celiac disease... Her answer was a clear "yes." When I asked the extremely unmotivated waiter again specifically, I said it's exactly the opposite. I politely asked him to ask the chef, as nothing about allergens was declared in the menu. I then got more stroppy answers and they said he was just saying it was gluten-free, which I found to be absolute negligence... If I had eaten it, it would actually have been a criminal offense 😉 You're already punished enough with this illness and you don't like to ask Then you have to let yourself be bullied instead of showing some initiative or commitment. By the way, in Germany it is not allowed to present menus that do not contain any allergens! I just find it unprofessional and so I didn't eat anything there. I wonder how such ignorance can exist in the field of gastronomy. I would prefer to give zero stars. First and last visit and unfortunately no positive recommendation! PS: training on the most important topic would definitely be advisable and also rethinking skills in some areas.

We had breakfast at the beach house. Unfortunately we fell for the pictures of the bar (and the pretty good reviews) because the terrace of the breakfast location didn't have a view of the Ruhr, we looked out onto the lawn of the swimming pool, oh well. The breakfast was extremely cheap, but the quality was correspondingly high. Ok for the price, but nothing to praise. That has to be clear to you. We won't be coming back.

Very nice location, friendly staff. The menu is rather small, which speaks for the freshness. Nevertheless, there is a varied selection, which is also ideal for vegetarian and vegan diets thanks to the modular system. The location on the lake and the Ruhr Valley cycle path is good, there are plenty of parking spaces and there is also acceptable accessibility by bus. We didn't use the hotel, so I can't say anything about it.

Unfortunately we are very disappointed this time. We have never eaten such a bad currywurst. Simply warming up a sausage and pouring lots of sauce over it is not enough. After that came an espresso with a used spoon and then a beer glass with lipstick... not possible! And the recession is not fake!

Schon als wir ankamen, hörten wir nicht die übliche Ansage, nein, sie können ihr Zimmer noch nicht beziehen. Stattdessen wurde geschaut, ob irgendein vielleicht schon frei wär für uns. Und so war es! Die Zimmer sind einfach, aber okay, dafür ist der Ausblick auf den See und die grünen Wälder umso toller. Und wegen des Sees haben alle Fenster Mückengitter. So hatten wir unsere Ruhe. Am Morgen danach gab es eigentlich erst ab 9:00 Uhr Service . Meine Familienmitglieder mussten aber zum Teil schon früher zum Bahnhof und wir hatten uns unten auf der Terrasse getroffen. Dies bekam Florian mit. Er kümmerte sich Mega gut um uns - und das, obwohl es eigentlich noch überhaupt keinen Kaffee gab. Er hat uns an der Nasenspitze angesehen, was wir trinken wollten, und hat es uns einfach gebracht, Und seine flotten Sprüche haben uns am frühen Morgen schon sehr amüsiert. Das Frühstück und das Mittagessen war lecker. Leider konnten wir die tolle Strand Location nicht nutzen, da wir zu einer Hochzeit eingeladen waren.

We spontaneously wanted to go out for dinner there yesterday. When we went in, the service staff ran past us and ignored us. It was packed outside on the roof terrace. Only someone behind the bar felt compelled to tell us that it was a closed company. Hanging information at the entrance was seen as completely overrated.

MY MOTHER'S ROUND BIRTHDAY CANCELED AT SHORT TERM!!! An absolute disgrace on the part of the operator. My mother had already registered and reserved her special birthday at the beach house in March/April 2024 and had it confirmed again in July upon request. It was said “no problem, it stays that way.” Yesterday, a week before her celebration, she received the rejection. One would have OVERLOOKED that there was already a celebration, an event with 400 people taking place on that day. Yes, of course a beach house with a beach costs money. The costs incurred then have to be recouped through lucrative celebrations, so an older woman is simply canceled, regardless of the losses.....!!!

Since they allegedly overlooked (!) a booked party of 400 people, the small celebration for the head of our family's 80th birthday, which had already been booked and guaranteed in April, was canceled at short notice a week in advance. 400 people are of course more lucrative and you can do that with one old person. However, the family has friends and relatives and they will all know this. You should be ashamed of yourself!!

We met friends here for our annual reunion, and no one was from this area. The location right on the lake is very idyllic, great beach feeling thanks to the piled up sand with chill lounges and deck chairs. Food is simple, quick, good and plentiful with a good price-performance ratio. Staff young, friendly and motivated. We also stayed in the newly renovated rooms, which we liked. Keep it up!
