The brunch was plentiful and delicious, and the service was very friendly despite the restaurant being full. Reservations are recommended, but even without one, you'll be shown to your table if there's space. Parking in the large lakeside parking lot about 70 meters away is free for restaurant patrons, and a bus stop is right nearby, just down a flight of stairs.

I love coming here and do it often. My favorite spots are the beach or the terrace. It combines my local recreation area with a restaurant that's perfect in terms of atmosphere and location. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but what they offer here – the events and the constant stream of new ideas – is unparalleled. It's clear that someone is always putting thought and effort into this place, as you can see if you follow them on Instagram. A fantastic team and incredible dedication! Beware of this scam! The breakfast offered on the website is not available for €6.90. On-site, it was pointed out that this was only available with the drinks package, even if you didn't want it. According to the staff, this was a new directive from the manager. The buffet was very meager for the total price of €11.90 per person. There were only baked rolls and three types of cheese and cold cuts to choose from. When we arrived at 9:40 a.m., the breakfast buffet was already depleted, and there were no rolls or egg dishes left. Only after asking several times was the buffet refilled. The staff were still very friendly, though. We won't be coming back!

A top address on the Ruhr River. The hostel room is very good value for money. The restaurant is highly recommended for both coffee and cake and dinner.

The ambience in the Standhaus is truly wonderful and invites you to linger. Unfortunately, the food can't keep up: the price and quality are disproportionate; the taste is okay, but by no means outstanding. You quickly notice on Google: Critical voices tend to disappear here. A look at TripAdvisor will give you a different picture of other guests' experiences. This is expressly not a personal attack, but rather a friendly criticism. I expect there will be comments as usual – so, in advance, everything is meant to be constructive. Conclusion: Lovely ambiance, food not worth the price – hence, 3 stars with difficulty. UPDATE: It's a shame that you immediately interpret constructive criticism as defamation. My feedback merely describes my personal impressions – that's exactly what reviews are for. I wish you many satisfied guests nonetheless. However, your response speaks more about sensitivity than the passion one would expect from a host.

The three of us went out to dinner today. The food was prepared incredibly quickly and truly delicious! The only thing that topped the superb food was the excellent service. Flo was incredibly fast, served us impeccably, and made our stay perfect – thank you so much!

We visited the café on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and received prompt and friendly service. What followed, however, was beyond audacious. €4.50 for a tiny piece of cake that looked completely lost on the served plate. The accompanying coffee was okay, but nothing special. All in all, we definitely won't be coming back, given the poor value for money.

The location, staff, and indoor and outdoor areas are great. Very nice. Unfortunately, the food is terrible: half-warm and frozen.

From the outside, the entrance sign unfortunately looks a bit run-down – not particularly appealing and almost a bit shabby. Inside, however, it's a completely different story: very nice, modern seating, stylishly decorated, and truly appealing. The outdoor terrace was generally fine and offered a pleasant ambiance – however, the table could have been wiped down better; a bit more maintenance would have been helpful. The staff were consistently very friendly and also very funny, which definitely enhanced the experience. Unfortunately, the currywurst was lukewarm to cold, which was disappointing. From the rooftop terrace, you barely have a view of the lake – the railing blocks the view, significantly limiting the view. The restrooms, on the other hand, were very clean and pleasant, which was a real plus. Conclusion: All in all, a solid visit – the modern ambiance inside is impressive, the service is excellent, but the exterior sign, food temperature, and view were less so.

We had booked a table for 21 people weeks in advance for a birthday party. However, when we arrived, nothing was prepared. The brunch buffet was very meager. There were no seeded rolls, no bread, and the hot dishes had accumulated grease. Apart from a fruit salad and a salad buffet (without salad), fruit and vegetables were in short supply. The location and view were lovely, but the food was unfortunately very poor.

One star because the (innocent) service staff were very nice! We had chosen this beautiful location especially for my mother's 80th birthday brunch on August 31st. Despite repeated, prior confirmation by email, we were met with incredulous eyes by the service staff when we showed up at the door with 21 people at 10 a.m. on Sunday. NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING - NOTHING WAS PREPARED!!! We were then seated in an adjoining room, where we then had to arrange the tables and chairs ourselves so that we could sit together. Any help from the staff? Nothing to be desired... The buffet was exceptionally meager - only one type of roll, NO bread, tasteless industrial scrambled eggs, a completely empty selection of sausages, etc. To top it all off, one of the two bosses(?) owners(?) or whatever - I mean the one with the beard and baseball cap - made himself very unpopular because he scolded my wife in an impossible, haughty, and arrogant manner when she had a problem with the coffee machine - my friend: that's no way to treat guests!!! The same person also tried to lecture me in a very condescending manner when I wanted a small spoon for my muesli: instead of simply politely giving me one from the container that was right in front of him (!), he called me into the buffet area to familiarize myself with the location of the spoon rests. Boy oh boy - I haven't experienced such behavior in a long time. By the way, neither the cap-wearing man nor the other one (the one with the bald head) offered a single word of apology for our experience with the "forgotten booking" – nor did they even bother to congratulate the birthday girl or anything like that... What lousy and disrespectful behavior towards us. (Actually surprising, given the many good reviews here.) My mother was very disappointed and unhappy with how things went – ​​thank you so much for ruining this day and charging us almost €700 for it!!!

What a beautiful location. Located on Lake Hengstey with a fantastic view. The beach area offers delicious snacks and drinks for self-pickup. The restaurant offers a nice selection of delicious food and drinks at a fair price. Friendly staff. If you don't go there, it's your own fault.

Yesterday, I went to the beach bar in the lower part of the beach house with friends. I found it very cozy, and the food was really good value for money and delicious. Since I'm in a wheelchair, I wanted to use the accessible restroom, but it was locked and couldn't be opened with the Euro key. The staff opened the door for me upon request. It would be great if the restroom could be equipped with a Euro lock in the future, so that wheelchair users can use an accessible restroom by the lake even outside of the beach house's opening hours. Please consider this as a suggestion. A paper towel dispenser in the restroom would also be great.

This review refers to the *restaurant* in the Strandhaus. The location is really great; the ambiance is modern and chic, but not overly posh. It's located directly on Lake Hengstey and offers a fantastic view. It's a restaurant where you can have a great party, but also just enjoy a quick bite to eat in the evening. There's free parking nearby, which is certainly convenient. We were served by Flo, who was very friendly and professional and practically brought the good mood to the table. The food was also very tasty, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. There are a variety of dishes, from fries/currywurst to good hamburgers, pizza and bowls to a traditional roast. Therefore: a clear recommendation!

Nice location but the service still needs improvement!

It was very nice there. Like a little vacation ☺️ You could put your feet in the sand, sit in a beach chair, and look out at the lake... swimming isn't possible there, but there's a swimming pool right next door. The lake looks a bit shady 😂 Drinks and snacks were served outside by rather stressed staff (the weather was great and there was a lot going on). We didn't go into the restaurant itself.

We were here exclusively for brunch and would return. The selection of dishes offered at the buffet was good, the cleanliness and quality were very good, and we received friendly and attentive service.

Unfortunately, we didn't really enjoy the bowl – the quinoa was very hard, and the sauce and the combination weren't to our liking. On the other hand, we did find the baked potato and the accompanying vegetables very tasty and very well seasoned. The sugar-free lemonade was disappointing: It's sweetened with stevia (not aspartame, I wrote that earlier, my mistake) and tasted extremely sweet to us. We were recommended to order a water as well, which we found a bit of a shame. The lemonade then sat untouched on our table for three hours, but no one asked about it – but we still charged for it as usual. In our opinion, they should have canceled it sooner, based on our feedback. The staff were generally very friendly and attentive, only the waiter, who usually receives a lot of praise, didn't quite match our sense of humor. All in all: Mixed impressions – some of the food was delicious, some of it wasn't to our taste, the service was friendly, but unfortunately, the drinks weren't a good experience.

I can recommend the beach house. The food and service are good. However, parking should be free for guests.

Always happy to go back. It's the last place in Hagen where you can still go (safely). And definitely try the Strandhaus fries!

We went there for dinner. The location itself is, of course, absolutely beautiful, but the outdoor area (upstairs terrace) is poorly executed. The tables had grease stains everywhere, and the overall look wasn't very well-maintained. The food was okay, but not particularly good. We wouldn't come again.

We went there for breakfast with the kids. The staff was so friendly that we immediately felt welcome. The view of the water was tranquil and beautiful – the kids were amazed. The buffet was small, but every dish was fresh and delicious. For 5 euros, you could have as many drinks as you wanted – the boys' eyes lit up when they discovered this.

We celebrated our wedding with 70 people at the beach house in May. From the planning phase to the actual ceremony, we felt very well looked after and well advised. Nico was available at all times and implemented our wishes and ideas brilliantly. The service during the ceremony was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The drinks selection was varied and the food was excellent. The ambiance was fantastic, and the guests were thrilled. We would recommend a celebration at the beach house to anyone.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with both the service and the food. The food wasn't fresh, neither the bread nor the salad. You'd expect a fresh salad for around €20. The glasses and tables were also dirty, and I don't even need to mention the poor service from the somewhat older lady. If you value quality, you should spend your money elsewhere.

The service was lackluster and relatively unfriendly. The bowls we ordered were tasteless. The food was like a rest stop. The prices were significantly too high. The location is very nice.

We received a friendly greeting but then had to wait a while for the waiter, who then took our orders after asking. Unfortunately, the foam on my cappuccino was bitter, so I returned it and ordered a regular coffee. Breakfast, unfortunately, wasn't a culinary highlight, but it was all the more expensive – in my opinion, the value for money isn't right. My daughter's pancakes came from the microwave and were already cooled, but she was kindly given a free smoothie. My daughter's friend received two carelessly filled rolls, and my French breakfast was missing the cheese selection, which I didn't notice until much later, as I had also ordered scrambled eggs. Otherwise, I would have spoken up immediately. I mentioned this when I received the bill, and the succinct reply was that the chef was new and they were glad he could speak the language. All in all, we would have preferred the hot dishes.

Unfortunately, it's always the same experience – the location is fantastic, the service is a disaster. Be it at a concert (Friday night, Pink Floyd), waiting in line for hours, three people serving one person, nothing being poured...or at the prom on Saturday. After 30 minutes of queuing at the buffet, there were no more plates, and finally, at the front, there was no more food, just like I'm used to at company parties there. That's such a shame because the location is such a great place. Regarding the response from the beach house: You think it's "normal" that I don't get anything to eat at my daughter's prom because everything is simply gone? The same thing happened at two other large parties? I've definitely been there on "normal" evenings, and if you don't really make yourself known, no new drinks arrive!

Restaurant review: Nice ambiance, average food, average prices, poor/unfriendly service. There were 10 people, everyone had similar orders, drinks came fairly quickly, food took a while, but some were incorrectly ordered. It can happen, but it's not a big deal. But the way the staff handled it wasn't good. The burger was deliberately left with the wrong person, another wrong burger was "I'll just take it away," the sauce was wrong, "just swap with him" (his had tomatoes on it despite ordering without tomatoes, so his sauce was correct), nothing like "oh sorry, we mixed something up, we'll take care of it right away," nothing like that. Only after the third attempt was my order correct (a simple order with no special requests). The table next to us had a parasol set up, and when we asked if we could have one, "where am I supposed to get one?" (there were still three free parasols visible). Highlight of the evening: Towards the middle of the meal, we were asked if we wanted a drink. We said yes and placed an order for three drinks. It took quite a while, then the same waitress came back and asked if we wanted something else to drink. To which I replied, "We actually ordered a while ago." After a short while, the reply was, "Even if you think you ordered something, that's not the case." - okay, sorry. Three people spontaneously had the same hallucination, and here too, no "sorry" or anything else. They didn't drink anything else, just paid and left. It was the first time I've been treated so rudely by a waitress, and I'll always remember the place negatively. It's a shame considering the lovely ambiance and location.

I can only recommend it. A fantastic location, all in one. The outdoor pool and Salitos Beach are simply fantastic. Music performances, yesterday the Just Floyd Project was a brilliant band, a great evening. Right on the lake. The surrounding area is perfect for walking. Very beautiful.

Great location, but unfortunately, there's a severe shortage of skilled workers in the restaurant industry. If you can't handle large groups, you're probably better off not doing this. 50 or 100 people, maybe, but please stay away from anything larger than 200 in the future.

We had a wonderful visit to the Strandhaus am See in Hagen. The staff was truly fantastic – super friendly, attentive, and full of good humor. The service was quick and uncomplicated, and we immediately felt at ease. We would also like to particularly highlight the event manager, who spontaneously gave us the opportunity to take a look at the area being prepared for an upcoming wedding. He, too, was very engaging, friendly, and gave us competent advice. An all-around successful experience, both in terms of the food and the organization. Highly recommended; not only for a relaxing visit, but also for events, with a great ambiance.

Today I was at the beach house with friends and ordered a Strandhaus Signature salad and an Aperol. What can I say? I'm at a loss for words! A half-full glass of Aperol that simply tasted like water, the salad – bottomless!!! €14.90. Any bag of salad from Aldi would have tasted better. I complained about the Aperol and was told that the measurements for the drink were absolutely correct and that it was watery from the ice cubes! Me: The Aperol looked watery from the very first moment. The answer was that that wasn't right. Me: Please, then I don't want to drink any more Aperol and put it on the counter. I got a new one afterwards – the mix was okay this time, but apparently the message wasn't understood. For €8.50 a glass of Aperol and this horrible salad for €14.90, it was a lesson for me. Not again for a while!!! Unfortunately, that's not how service works. We usually enjoy going there, partly because of the beautiful location. What a shame ☹️

The lakeside location is top-notch. The service in the restaurant is entertaining and prompt. The cocktails still have room for improvement, both in terms of taste and appearance. At that price, you'd expect a slice of fruit, a small umbrella, or a sugar rim.

Of course, they could offer higher-quality products, which would certainly be reflected in the price. And whether everyone sees it that way is still questionable... It's not quite as well-coordinated as it is yet, but I think it will improve over time. For example, the deposit return system is very inconvenient...They should consider a separate return point. Breakfast buffet! Cheap cheese, cheap sausage, rolls suddenly sold out, no bread, suddenly pre-baked rolls that someone with allergies can't eat, no dessert (just some yogurt with jam). We only went there twice: the first and last time!

Only if you have a lot of time. This lunchtime (12:00 p.m.) the staff preferred clearing the tables and eating something themselves to serving customers. Customers were completely ignored; no one wanted to work. We left after a while. I'm just reading the owner's response. Apparently, this was just an exception. NO, it wasn't, as other reviews show. We were sitting clearly visible among other guests! The waiter saw us, as did the other employees. They preferred to continue eating, chatting, or clearing other tables. The table across the hall from us had the same problem. Dear owner, I probably won't be coming back. An apology from you would have changed that.

We were there yesterday afternoon. We had a table where the server was clearing away previous glasses and said she'd be right there to take our order. We told her we wanted something to eat, but the drinks hadn't been taken yet. After 10 minutes, we noticed that other guests who had arrived after us had been served. We signaled to the server that we wanted to order, and she replied, "I'll be right there." Another 15 minutes passed without a response. Other guests were also waiting for their orders to be taken, who only responded with the comment, "I'm already wearing sneakers, but I can't fly." No, I'm sure no one expected that, but it's not the guest's problem if two servers are alone outside. At that point, the tables were moderately busy. We left after waiting for almost 30 minutes.
