Stellwerk Meckenheim in Meckenheim

Our visit to Stellwerk in Meckenheim was a complete disappointment. We weren't approached by the staff even once – no hello, no inquiry, no drink order, nothing at all. We simply sat there, ate, and ended up having to go to the front ourselves to pay because no one came. The food wasn't any better: there were only wheat rolls, no alternatives whatsoever. These days, it's practically a given that you can at least get spelt or something else – but not here. This was really frustrating for people with a wheat allergy. The service was simply nonexistent. Plates were left unattended, no eye contact, no attention whatsoever. Overall, it was just uninspired and unprofessional. In short: Never again.

We celebrated our wedding at Stellwerk on September 27, 2025. Communication was flawless and prompt at all times; we were able to ask our questions, requests, and ideas in person and via email, and we always received excellent feedback from Jens, the managing director. He also explained honestly and, what we thought was great, quite straightforwardly when we wanted to offer a little "too much" food :-) All agreements regarding costs, food, organization, and service were adhered to, and we had a wonderful and relaxed celebration where we, as the bride and groom, didn't have to control ANYTHING but could simply devote ourselves to having a good time with our guests. The super-friendly and prompt service was excellent, the food was incredibly delicious, and the drinks were always promptly served at the tables. Our cake, which was delivered externally, was able to be set up on the prepared table during the event, and the waiter patiently cut it for our guests when we didn't want any more :-) All of the guests felt incredibly comfortable in this beautiful ambiance and praised the food and service. The children had their own corner to paint and play and were welcome (and not just "tolerated" like in other restaurants). A special plus: the accessible restroom, which made it possible for the wheelchair-bound guest among our guests to participate in the celebration at all. At the end of the event, we were able to take the leftover food with us (the bride and groom even received it exclusively from the super-friendly kitchen staff ;-)), so there were hardly any leftovers. All in all, we can only say: THANK YOU to Jens and his team! We will definitely be back for the "regular" meal—as we have always done.

The restaurant has its own charm, even from the outside. The architecture is beautiful and well-executed. The staff served us quickly and friendly, and even our special requests were welcome. The dishes are relatively generous in size and not too expensive. Everything was very fresh and tasted excellent.

We waited 1.5 hours, then asked for a refund. The order wasn't passed on. The food was cold. The service was unsympathetic. We felt like guests were being disturbed, as there was no understanding, no apology, and no concessions regarding the bill. We've been here many times, but today will be the last. The service today was absolutely terrible and doesn't invite you to return.

A very extensive European breakfast. Nothing was missing, and the food was constantly being refilled. We'd be happy to come back.

The ambiance is very nice. The staff is friendly but extremely inflexible in meeting customer requests. The food, in my case, was borderline. The starter was very tasty and attractively presented. The main course (salad) was nothing...brown leaves, and the bread was anything but fresh. But the dessert was the highlight: "How can I mess up everything to perfection?" The Stellwerk Ice Cream Special was a glass cup...three scoops of ice cream in...everything else poured over it...(it was missing a sauce, and the person next to me was also missing one). It could have been nicely presented on a plate. I just expected something completely different from the name of the starter. The other participants' food looked good. When asked, almost everyone said it was okay. Since it was a lovely evening with lovely people, I'm giving the overall package three stars out of five.

The breakfast buffet is quite decent and reasonably priced. But it's not a culinary highlight. It's definitely worth a try if you want to have a reasonably priced breakfast with a wider selection as a family. There's something for everyone here.

The buffet cost €14.90. The sausage already had brown edges. The extra salmon was frozen and two slices. The fruit was from a can. The fried bacon was in a container with a lid on it, and it was then steamed. Roughly speaking, everything came from cans and ready-made products. We can't imagine the brunch for around €30 per person.... It's a shame... when you go to the restroom, there's something lying around everywhere. The service was good.

Breakfast buffet: very varied and high-quality. Scrambled eggs, sausages, various cheeses and varieties of sausage and ham. Rolls, bread, croissants, pancakes, grilled tomatoes, quark, fruit salad, and more. Coffee, tea, juice, and water are also included in the price. 14.90 Monday to Saturday. The ambiance is also stylish, making it a great place to have a good conversation. I felt completely at home and would gladly come back.

We didn't like the food. I went there with my guest and thought it would be something special. But it wasn't! The schnitzel was okay, a tiny bowl with mushroom sauce (you had to hunt for the mushrooms) and sweet potato in a paper cone. It was tasty, but I wouldn't go there again with my guest.

We ate there today. The atmosphere was quite nice, and the service was friendly and attentive. It was clean. However, the portions were very small and quite expensive. The food was lukewarm, and the mushroom sauce tasted like it had been heated in a microwave. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Generally, I quite like going to Stellwerk. I'm particularly fond of the homemade lemonades, although they're far too sweet for me and I always have to dilute them, but they last longer that way. What I really struggle with is the degree of doneness of the meat. It's never worked, especially not at BBQs, where everything was practically raw, usually overcooked. I always order medium or medium-rare beef. It's a shame to use the high-quality ingredients.

The Stellwerk offers a pleasant atmosphere and solid food. Unfortunately, the service staff was overwhelmed by the rush of visitors on the last day of school before the summer holidays.

We were there for dinner today, the pasta was raw and unfortunately cold... we weren't served well either, we had to ask for everything ourselves!!! The burgers were like McDonald's, just slapped on everything... I wouldn't even give the restaurant a star.

We went there for brunch today. All the dishes were delicious. The selection was very extensive, and the food was constantly replenished until the end. It was very advantageous that, in addition to coffee and tea, water, juices, sparkling wine, cola, and lemonade were included in the buffet price. The staff was very accommodating. This certainly won't be our last time there.

Good food, some interesting items on the menu.

Four of us went there for brunch yesterday. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the staff very attentive, and the buffet was perfectly adequate. We were very satisfied and will definitely return.

A few years ago, Stellwerk was a truly recommendable place – both in terms of its ambiance and the quality of the food, drinks, and service. Unfortunately, during our visit yesterday, we noticed a significant deterioration. We waited between 30 and 60 minutes each time a server came to our table. Communication was difficult due to a significant language barrier, and almost every order or question we asked was met with an annoyed "WHAT?" The quality of the food has declined significantly. For a burger, which at €16 is quite ambitious, you'd expect more than a meal that barely rises above fast food standards. The burger was served without any garnish; side dishes must be ordered and paid for separately. Overall, everything seemed very poorly presented – something we've seen in the past. The cocktails were also disappointing: They were so heavily filled with ice that there was barely room for the actual amount of drink. We were particularly struck by the waiter's lack of hygiene; he had very dirty hands and an extremely long fingernail on his little finger – a sight that doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the kitchen. Furthermore, the restaurant was infested with a noticeably large number of flies. Of course, this can never be completely avoided in the summer months, but in this number, it certainly seemed alarming. All in all, we're left wondering whether there might have been a change of ownership, since all the staff we knew from previous visits were no longer there. For us, this was our last visit to the Stellwerk for the time being. It's a real shame for a restaurant that was once one of our favorites.

We come here regularly every week and are always satisfied. Great food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere—everything is simply perfect!

It's nice that you can have breakfast there again during the week. A large selection of cheese, sausage, hot dishes, etc., including coffee and juice. 👍 I just miss a tabletop trash can. Very friendly staff.

At €16 for a burger, you'd expect a homemade patty. The patty was frozen and tasted old and moldy. The burger itself was sparsely topped. Absolutely unacceptable. I strongly recommend checking the quality. This was terrible and not recommended.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and a reasonable price for €14.90 per person. The buffet is available until 11:30 a.m. Access is a bit difficult to find. Side entrances may be open. Parking is available at the station. Filter coffee, tea, and juice were available, and there was plenty of choice. We sat outside, which was pleasant even though the train stops right next door. There are also seats on the other side of the building where the train isn't in the immediate vicinity. The restrooms were clean. We'd be happy to come back.

We were there for dinner. We received a very friendly welcome. The service was excellent. I was a little disappointed with the food. The salad on the appetizer platter wasn't particularly fresh, and I'm not used to Papardelle al Ragout in Italy...

Der große Mittags-Ansturm war vorbei, wir waren mit 3 weiteren Tischen die einzigen Gäste. Gefühlt dauerte es ewig bis wir von einem der vier anwesenden Servicekräften nach unseren Wünschen gefragt wurden. Das Fleisch auf der Salatbowl war unter Körpertemperatur, der Speck war kalt, was die Vermutung zulässt, dass diese nicht frisch zubereitet wurde. Für € 19 hätte ich dies erwartet. Bestellt hatten wir vier Kölsch, die auch auf der Rechnung standen. Bekommen haben wir jedoch nur zwei. Insgesamt lässt die Sauberkeit der Terrasse zu wünschen übrig. Dies betrifft sowohl die Tische als auch den Boden. Hier findet man neben vertrockneten Blättern eine Menge verwehter Unrat. Schade, ein gemütlich gestaltetes Lokal, welches bedingt durch das Verhalten des Personals nicht wirklich zum verweilen einlädt. Und dies erfahren wir heute nicht zum ersten Mal.

Breakfast (buffet) was delicious...one point deducted...the coffee could be a bit stronger....

I was there with my daughter. Ordered shrimp. What can I say? Pretty disgusting. The shrimp were still limp. The vegetables were lukewarm. Noodles weren't al dente, but rather hard, and unfortunately lukewarm. The atmosphere and service were okay. The wait was a bit long.

Great brunch buffet for Mother's Day, everything delicious, and a great atmosphere at Stellwerk. The service was very attentive. I had a wonderful Mother's Day there.

I visited Eifel Mac Burger and was overall satisfied. Both the quality of the food and the service were good, although in my opinion, there's still some room for improvement to truly excel.

The burger is genuinely one of the most depraved, careless, sloppy meals I've ever eaten. A completely inappropriate, cold, soggy bun, raw onions, and what is almost certainly a frozen patty. Quite literally less put together than a McDonalds burger. After years of having the privilege of living abroad, it's truly sad that Germany has no quality left to offer. I feel bad for the waitstaff, who are very friendly and should not have to put up with the poor decision making of management.

We spontaneously had dinner there with 9 people. It was almost fully booked but they found a place for us. The service was friendly and had recommendations. Some drinks were unknown (hometown 700km away) but were very tasty and the food was also really good.

We were there for brunch. Food was great

For the second time we left the door because our presence was not noticed. There are reserved signs on all tables, so we wait at the door for someone to give us a seat. We left again after 10 minutes, it wasn't even registered that we were there. This has happened before. This is of course a shame and not guest-friendly. Maybe a motion detector on the door? We ate here on Friday and were actually served, so I can't fault the food.

Interns are treated badly there and only get bad grades and we don't teach them anything there, they are only used to do work that they don't want to do themselves.

Delicious rustic food. As a barbecue lover, I could highly recommend the food there. In addition, a very friendly, competent and fast team. Unfortunately, lately there has been no steak at all at lunchtime and otherwise only rump steak is on the normal menu. You can no longer find fillet, flank steak, etc. What happened? Where did the 800 degree grill go? It's still tasty, but it's no longer a unique selling point.

The service is extremely different, sometimes extremely friendly, sometimes very short when it appears at some point. (And that with 2-4 occupied tables!) The same food on different days varies greatly in the quality processed. (E.g.: dry or not completely done, etc.) Staff are busy with themselves or “decorating” or rearranging tables. The price-performance ratio is too high for that. It's a shame, but we'll still go there again. Update: The “beer garden/terrace” facing the platform was open, but unfortunately there was no sign or information! Can be overlooked, what a shame! (Tables and chairs facing the street were not set.)

I came on the recommendation, anything else would be kokolores. Now I can recommend not stopping there, at least not for lunch. What you get there is tasteless in the truest sense of the word, and if you do taste anything, it's the glutamate from the tomato sugo that covers everything up. The fish fillet tasted like nothing, and offering one or two rocket leaves as a salad bouquet is also very daring. Unfortunately, the same can be said about any meat with spaetzle. This also tasted of little to nothing and could not be identified. The fact that the food came before the drinks was a gift. Of course that was the fault of the colleague who wasn't there at the time. Weak. I could also ignore crumbs from breakfast on the table and floor if lunch had been good. But it wasn't. Overall, it's a shame, because it's a really nice place that also has a very nice bar. It's a real shame that you can't get much more out of it. I can't rate anything else apart from the "lunch table" and I'm probably glad I didn't even get to know the other "Kokolores" in Meckenheim.

Be sure to try the spar ribs from the smoker.

Die Location ist sehr schön eingerichtet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Alle Speisen, egal ob Nudeln, Burger, Salat oder Steak waren hervorragend. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

The first time I found the food super tasty and fresh. A day later, the fries were bone-hard, as if they had been fried a second time.

The food was good and it wasn't too crowded so you could sit comfortably and chat. There is a parking lot and train connection right next door.

Heute sind wir das erstem Mal (von bisher ca. 25 mal seit Eröffnung)nach dem Mittagessen hungrig zum nächsten Bäcker gefahren. Wir hatten 2 verschiedene Gerichte (Tafelspitz und Gnocchi) von der Mittagskarte. Es hat wie immer geschmeckt aber für ein Mittagessen viel zu wenig. Enttäuschend

We were there for breakfast. Visually very appealing location. The breakfast selection was very clear and not very appealing. Filter coffee, which really tasted good, and tea are included in the price. There were chairs around the "buffet table" so that you couldn't really get to the table. The products were also not labeled, which e.g. B. is not ideal for allergy sufferers. There is no fresh fruit. The location was not heated and therefore it was very cold and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing special!

It was okay. I wouldn't go there again. The food is average. The burger sauces were ketchup and mayonnaise packets. Oh well. We've had enough.

There were 4 of us and everyone was completely satisfied with the quality and taste of the dishes (only the cappucino could be better). The prices are OK and the staff pleasant and friendly. We were definitely not here for the last time.

Die Vorspeise beim Abendessen war echt gut. Wir hatten Bruscetta. Frisch und lecker. Aber dann kam der Hauptgang... nach fast 50 Minuten... wir hatten einen Pulled Pork Burger und einen Beef Cheese Burger und eine Portion Pommes. Die Burger sahen lieblos aus, waren beide Lauwarm bis Kalt und haben einfach nach nichts geschmeckt. Das pulled Pork hätte gut sein können, wenn es heiß gewesen wäre. Der Beefpattie, war eine fertiger Presspattie und nicht frisch und auch fast kalt. Die Pommes waren sowas von übersalzen, nicht mehr normal... War unser zweites Erlebnis und auch das letzte Mal.

Das Angebot war sehr vielfältig und lecker. Es wurde immer rasch aufgefüllt. Das einzige was nicht so lecker war,war das Rührei. Sehr wässrig.(Packungsware?) Das lassen wir beim nächsten Besuch weg. Ansonsten alles super

Essen war wie gewohnt sehr gut! Rippchen und Pulled Pork nur zu empfehlen! Service auch sehr gut! Aber warum nicht volle Punktzahl? Wir hatten für 2 Personen reserviert nd wurden trotz relativ leeren Restaurant, an einen kleinen Tisch direkt neben anderen Gästen gesetzt, die Lautstark sich austauschten, obwohl x Tische frei waren! Dies ist uns schon zum zweiten Mal passiert! Schade, daher beendeten wir den Abend recht schnell!

Unfortunately we were disappointed. The cocktail we ordered was in a tiny glass, just half the height of the 0.3l cola glass. For €7.50 it was cheeky in my opinion. The food was mixed - the salad was tasty, but the chicken strips ordered with it were dry and only lukewarm. Even the supposedly home-baked bread seemed anything but fresh… the pulled pork was good. The staff was friendly, although we were moved again after receiving our drinks because apparently something needed to be prepared in our area. The visit might have received 3 stars, but I found it too expensive for that. The prices didn't match the quality of the food. Too bad!

Das Stellwerk ist einer meiner Lieblingsrestaurants. Das Preis- und Leistugsverhältnis des Frühstück- und Brunchbereiches ist kaum zu. Es ist bei jedem Besuch immer lecker gewesen und bietet eine reichhaltige Auswahl. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich. Ich gehe immer wieder gerne hin. Diese Woche bin ich sogar zwei Mal dort.
