We visited the Steaktrain in Leipzig and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The steaks were excellent – ​​perfectly cooked, very flavorful, and of the highest quality. The service was also very attentive, friendly, and professional, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance is already unique, with its train-car-style design. A little extra: It would be fantastic if the monitors at the seats simulated the view from a moving train – as if you were sitting in a real dining car, looking at the passing scenery. This would make the experience even more authentic and unique. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant that we would gladly visit again – definitely one of the best addresses in Leipzig for steak lovers.

I thought it was okay, but I've had better. Unfortunately, the meat was burnt in some places, so we trimmed some of that off...okay, that's just how it is. I had a rib eye medium rare, but my meat was cooked through, which isn't really possible in a steak restaurant. I had potato casserole as a side dish and was served mashed potatoes, but I didn't like that either. The sweet potato fries were delicious. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is rather old-school, but that's a matter of taste. For the price of €36 for a steak, I didn't think it was that great and would probably choose a different restaurant next time.

Today was our first visit to STEAKTRAIN, and certainly won't be the last. We were staying at another hotel and were looking for a steakhouse. We found STEAKTRAIN on Google and were very satisfied. Food and staff were GREAT! When we walked in, we were told it might take a little longer today. But quite the opposite. In some restaurants, you wait forever. We were barely seated and our drinks were brought. A few minutes later, a greeting from the kitchen, and then the steaks arrived. I haven't had such a good steak in a long time. Beautifully tender and simply fantastic. The waitresses are very friendly and accommodating. I can definitely recommend this steakhouse. Unfortunately, the steakhouse isn't exactly easy to find. The sign hangs above the entrance, nothing else. We were almost ready to give up.

We've been on vacation in Leipzig for a week now, and this is actually the first restaurant we've truly enjoyed! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was truly fantastic. Soft music played in the background, which I really appreciated. And to make it even better... I mentioned in the comments that it was my boyfriend's birthday. They did a very stylish job of celebrating by decorating the table with a streamer and small confetti of red hearts and silver "Happy Birthday" cards. Fantastic, fantastic, I can only recommend it.

We had a wonderful evening at Steak Train. To celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we decided to have a cozy and delicious evening here and made a reservation in advance (Saturday evening). Upon our arrival, we were delighted to see cute little hearts on the tablecloth. Our request to keep the fifth place set, despite the fact that there were four people, was also honored (for a person who had recently passed away and would have been sitting there). We were treated with great sensitivity. Upon our arrival, we were promptly shown to our table and within a few moments were given the drinks and wine list, as well as our menus. The waiters were friendly, attentive, and professional at all times. I was undecided about the wine, but received a confident wine recommendation that I was very happy with. At the same time, we were able to place our appetizer and main course orders without having to wait long. The intervals between appetizer and main course were well-timed. At first glance, the menu may seem overwhelming, but I find the layout to be ideal. The focus, alongside the occasional burger or main course, is the steak – accompanied by a very satisfying selection of side dishes and sauces/chutneys. Here, too, the waitress was always helpful and offered advice whenever something was unclear. She was able to confidently recommend various dishes or describe them in detail. We were all absolutely thrilled with the taste. The beef tartare was well-made – a classic. My partner ordered a beef consommé – it was wonderful! The plum chutney with the main course really "wowed" me – it's truly outstanding, although the truffle butter was also very good – the truffle flavor wasn't overpowering. And most importantly: all our desired cooking levels were perfectly executed. In between, they very attentively (unobtrusively) checked every now and then to make sure everything was just right. The coconut panna cotta with homemade pineapple sorbet was a perfect finale. I should emphasize that the dessert wasn't overly sweet. The dessert was fresh with a very light, subtle sweetness – totally my taste! Finally, I'd like to emphasize the outstanding service once again. Ms. Busch is an excellent server, at eye level, who ensures that nothing is lacking and that, in addition to the good food, the evening is always filled with good humor and satisfaction. There seemed to be some staffing challenges that day, but overall we were very impressed with how they were handled. The staff worked extremely hard, worked very quickly, and handled everything with absolute confidence. The attentive service didn't really suffer as a result. Impressive. We'll be back and thank you for the evening.

Great steaks and great service. Highly recommended. The special ambiance, modeled on a luxurious dining car, could be enhanced a bit if the LCD screens showed the view with pictures/films of a train ride. Perhaps you could select these? That would be something...

The European rib-eye was cooked to perfect medium rare and melted in your mouth! The homemade pepper sauce was disappointing in flavor and simply remained unfinished. The salad bar was very limited, lacking in refinement. So, if the quality of the meat and the preparation of the steaks are always this high, then the visit alone is worth it.

Very interesting train car theme, but more interesting than that was the food. My god the steaks were heavenly. For an appetizer we got the salmon tatar and for entrees we got the tomahawk, fillet, and swordfish. Service was friendly and timely. They were very accommodating when they found we were English speaking as well (English menus and speaking in English) The only thing my friends found that was maybe not up to the standard that everything else was, was the gnocchi side they both got, the mushrooms, onion rings, and fries were all excellent sides.

The restaurant isn't easy to find. The sign is above the entrance and therefore not immediately visible. There are no parking spaces in front, but there's a parking garage nearby. You go down a few steps to get to the restaurant. The restaurant has no windows; there's probably a ventilation system, but the air was pleasant. The staff is very friendly. The selection of food and drinks is sufficient. Our dishes were very tasty.

It's a fun idea to create a restaurant in the style of a stylish train. However, it's not quite as stylish as I had imagined. Besides, the restaurant is in the basement.

The food was expensive but very good. The meat was cooked to perfection and exactly as it should be. The side dishes were excellent, as were most of the sauces. A definite recommendation.

While in most restaurants it's better not to eat steak and rely on the grill at home, you can still get a good steak here. Only occasionally do you have to accept compromises. When asked whether there is sometimes a day when a reserve team is on duty, the answer was no. The service is very attentive and shows no shortcomings for this category. What I find less important is the salad buffet, although it looks like it could be improved. But then again, who goes to a steak restaurant just to eat salad? The star deducted is therefore due to the fluctuation in the quality of the steak, or rather: its preparation.

Everything is great We hadn't made a reservation and yet we weren't turned away. We were told we would have to wait a little longer because a tour group was being processed. Very nice atmosphere, friendly service. I ordered two seats online and everything went well. Regarding the food, I have to say that I expected something better at this price range. I had eaten a sirloin steak, which unfortunately was cold in no time. My baked potato was way too hard. Plus fried potatoes with onions and bacon. The fried potatoes were oversalted, glassy and way too dark. My wife really enjoyed the chicken breast with the chicken and cashew salad starter.

As hotel guests, we were honestly too lazy to go out and find a restaurant after a long day at the Leipzig Zoo. So we thought we'd try the hotel restaurant. What a great decision! Very good meat but something was missing, unfortunately I can't put my finger on what was missing but unfortunately it's not quite enough for it to be perfect. Two sauces are too much for me for a good piece of meat, so one herb butter is enough, but it's up to you as you please. The salad from the buffet was praiseworthy...

The restaurant does what it promises, it is built like a train. The service staff is very friendly, courteous and professional. I found the food to be very tasty and high quality. There is a small deduction in the ambience because when we went in there was a smell of chlorine in the corridors of the train at the entrance.

We treated ourselves to the steak train today. The first thing you noticed was the ambience - nicely furnished but also felt a bit old-fashioned. But it was still nice and fit. Also worthy of note were the numerous service staff who were very attentive and friendly - something that is no longer a given. For dinner we had the chicken (28€) and the sirloin steak medium (36€). The meat tasted good - nothing more but nothing less. Given the price, however, it fell short of our expectations - it was just chicken and a steak. However, the side dishes were disappointing. The fried potatoes were by far the worst I've had in a long time - dry, lukewarm and tasteless. The large portion doesn't help much either. The baked potato was fine - also the bacon beans and carrots. The vegetable side dishes were quite generous - it didn't have to be that way. The sauces were average and we didn't even need them as the meat was well seasoned. All in all, 3 stars for us because the food on offer was rather average, but the price was rather high. In any case, we won't eat there again because there are better steaks in Leipzig for the price.

In terms of cuisine, you are in a steakhouse, so you mainly get meat dishes here. Heaven on earth for meat lovers! As a starter we ordered the beef tartare and the carpaccio. Both were beautifully prepared and tasted excellent! In order to shorten the waiting time a little, there was a little greeting from the kitchen, some lard with fresh bread. Great idea & very tasty! The highlight is of course the steaks! Both the 300g rib-eye steak from European beef (medium) and the 500g porterhouse steak (medium-rare) were served perfectly to the ordered degree of doneness. Both steaks were very well seasoned and tasted great! The side dishes and sauces (fried potatoes, mashed potatoes with truffles, French beans with bacon, herb butter, etc.) were also very good and complemented the main course. As a sweet finale there was a cheesecake with a passion fruit topping and caramelized walnuts! The icing on the cake for a perfect dinner! The service in the restaurant is particularly noteworthy and should not be neglected. Very professional and friendly, the guests are looked after lovingly without being intrusive. Hardly anything like this exists anymore! Thank you for that! Of course, you pay a little more for such good food quality, excellent service and ambience! So I don't even know what to say. I'm extremely excited. The steak was insanely good. By far the best thing I've ever eaten. Even the side dishes where I thought: “What else could I do differently?” were super good. Actually, I would have wanted another portion of the taste if I wasn't already full xD The staff are of course very elegantly dressed and appear very distinguished, which was overwhelming for me because I'm not used to that sort of thing. But I guess that's just normal for the price range. In any case, they were very careful and very professional. The ambience is unique and stands out. And in a positive sense. The train design is very nicely designed and you can even see videos of old trains. My only small negative comment: It was a bit fresh in the long run. It could be a little warmer, but you can ignore that given all the strengths. Conclusion: If you want to treat yourself to something and have a penny or two left, this is highly recommended and a unique experience! World class!

Not recommended for tall people. Even the tables were so narrow and small that all the plates (4 people) could hardly fit on them. Music was also a bit loud.

Es handelt sich um ein Hotel-Restaurant, das man über die Lobby eine Wendeltreppe runter in den Keller erreicht. Dort wird auch vom Hotel morgens das Frühstück serviert. Das Zug-Ambiente, mit dem das Restaurant wirbt, sieht auf den Fotos anders aus, als die Wirkung „in echt“ ist - und das „echte“ Restaurant sieht aus meiner Sicht jedenfalls besser aus als diese „Zug-Atmosphäre“ der Fotos. Und nicht zu vergessen der Service ist hervorragend, die sehr aufmerksame, aber nicht zu aufdringliche, Bedienung war toll. Soviel zum Guten. Das Restaurant war nicht sehr gut gefüllt, vielleicht auch deshalb kommt die „Keller-Atmosphäre“ dann doch sehr zum Tragen. Ein junges Pärchen gegenüber tat mir leid, sie saßen irgendwie verloren da in der Mitte des großen Raums. Die Tische sind schön gedeckt, die Bedienung machte die Kerzen am Tisch an. Eigentlich alles schön, aber das Restaurant wirkt doch irgendwie kalt und abweisend. Nicht gemütlich. Nicht zum Essen und Trinken und Wohlfühlen einladend. Eher für einen schnellen Business-Launch zu Mittag. Zum Essen: Den Beilagensalat muss man sich an einem kleinen Salatbuffet selbst zusammenstellen, das Buffet war allerdings schon ziemlich „geplündert“, außerdem schmeckte der Gurkensalat nach Kühlschrank. Die anderen Salate waren aber gut und auch frisch. Das Rumpsteak selbst war auf den Punkt gebraten, die zwei Beilagen-Soßen schmeckten mir sehr gut, vielleicht in der Tat selbstgemacht. Alles in allem befriedigend, weil für mich die Atmosphäre beim Essen sehr viel ausmacht.

The food and the ambience are top. Only the waiting time for the food to arrive was a bit long. But it's worth a visit :-)

Every time we come to Leipzig, it is a must for us to eat at Steaktrain. The service is very courteous and attentive and the food is delicious. We had various starters, all of which were attractively presented and tasted even better. For the main course we had different steaks and side dishes. The meat was of great quality and the desired degree of doneness was spot on. The sauces complemented the main courses perfectly. The nougat mousse for dessert is also recommended. It's nice and airy and creamy. We were four adults and two children (2 & 4 years) - and the children were also very welcome. The waiter also tried very hard to understand the children's orders. All in all, another successful visit!

A really wonderful restaurant with very attentive staff, the best food and a great atmosphere. That was great.

For a steakhouse I expect a steak that sizzles while being served at the table and is served on a hot plate. Again, the steak was cooked exactly medium 👍. The service was very good!!!!

It's just fantastic at Steaktrain. The ambience, the food, the service...10 points from us. We can only recommend it...we will definitely be back

Originelles Lokal mit Zugatmosphöre. Ansprechend eingedeckt. Zum Apéro einen Äpérol, der war ordentlich. Irgendwas zu knabbern gab es aber nicht. Brot auf dem Tisch? Auch nicht. Amuse geule mit kleinem Rindfleischsalat und zwei Baguettescheiben, lecker. Hauptgang Surf&Turf für 85 € mit Rinderfiket 180 gr. Medium rare bestellt Mit Salat vom Buffet sowie Champignons. Saucen Aioli und Kröuterbutter. Beilagen und Saucen kann man jeweils zwei Sorten auswählen. Gute Idee! Das Filet war o k. Aber nicht Medium rare. Sondern in Teilen fast durch. Einem Tischnachbar erging es ähnlich. Also offenbar ein Grundproblem. Der Hummerschwsnz mini aber ordentlich. Die Salatbar war o.k., ich liebe Gurken- und Möhrensalat in dieser typischen Gasthausqualitöt, keine Finesse, aber ich mag's. Meine Champignons waren komplett versalzen. Hab mich erst durchgebissen, aber es wurde einfach nicht besser. Das war leider nicht gut.. Beschwerde wurde wie bei meinem Tischnachbarn freundlich angenommen. Ich hätte einen Kaffee haben können. Ich hoffe, daß die Gäste am anderen Tisch, die sich dicke Scheiben vom Wagyu abschneiden ließen, bei ihrer Bestellung Medium rare mehr Glück haben bei 89 Cent pro Gramm. Als Weißwein hatte ich Bacchus aus der Gegend mit 7.50 € für 0 25 ltr sehr fair bepreist. Würde ich wieder kommen. Gerne. Vielleicht war der Grillmeister heute indisponiert oder es war ein Azubi? Also da ist noch Luft nach oben.

Was für ein kulinarisches Erlebnis , Preise etwas hochwertig aber absolut gerecht. Wir hatten das Rib-eye , das Filetsteak und das Porterhousesteak …. War alles auf den Punkt gebraten und sehr köstlich!!! Der Service durch Herrn Heinritz hat alles noch komplett gemacht. Danke für den tollen Abend wir kommen wieder!!!
