Beautifully decorated restaurant

A disaster! It used to be the ultimate...now, after a change of ownership, it's a complete disaster! The tables are so dirty you get stuck to them...the steak arrives at the table looking more like raw roast beef than steak...the Mexican beans are kidney beans from a can with the same mush sauce from the same can...perhaps carelessly rebranded as Mexican beans...I've never experienced anything so bad... nothing left of its former glory...how quickly can something so good be ruined...shame on you....

Still the top spot for steak in Siegen. The quality is top-notch, and the doneness is always spot on. The salad bar is stuck in the 90s, but the rest is fine. Service is super friendly, especially with children.

Incredibly delicious! We had the "Châteaubriand," a 600g Black Angus steak with vegetables and all the trimmings for two people – it was truly unbelievably good! The atmosphere was incredibly cozy, the staff super friendly, and the flavors were simply an adventure! It was a bit pricey, but it was worth it!

Tonight (Sunday, July 13th), I spontaneously got a table outside. Super friendly and fast service. No long wait. The food was worth every cent. First-class! Keep it up 👍

Very tasty food, staff very friendly

I've been a regular at El Rancho for 25 years. After the new owners took over, everything was fine and just like before. In August, I noticed things were changing. I was back with customers on Monday, and unfortunately, it wasn't good. The service was very poor; I didn't even know what was on the menu. When the fillet steak arrived, I was hugely disappointed. The first time, it didn't taste good. The great El Rancho steak flavor was no longer there. The meat was never the stated weight and tasted of nothing. I also noticed that the restaurant was only half full. I'm not used to that. There was also fat around the edge of the fillet steak, which I've never had before. That was probably the end of my customer visits to El Rancho. It's a real shame. Update: June 2025: We tried again with customers: unfortunately, another disappointment: the taste was no longer what it was, and the meat was lukewarm. As I was leaving, a guest and his wife were ahead of me and said, "That was probably my last time here. My meat was only lukewarm and the fries were tasteless." I then chatted with the gentleman for a while. Unfortunately, he confirmed my experience. Either the chef had changed or the meat supplier had changed. It's such a shame; we always loved El Rancho and the food. I ate there at least three times a month.

I arrived rather spontaneously and was greeted warmly by a young lady at the entrance. The atmosphere was warm and pleasant from the very beginning. Particularly noteworthy are the lovingly arranged tables, the remarkable cleanliness, and the harmonious design, thought through down to the last detail. Fresh flowers, stylish lighting, and a pleasant color scheme contributed significantly to the overall aesthetic impression. The salad served was extremely tasty and carefully prepared. Bread and a sauce were immediately served with it, which I decided not to try. The water—still, as I prefer—was served in an elegant blue glass bottle, complemented by a matching, beautifully shaped glass. All in all, a place that impresses with taste, care, and a sense of beauty. The service was courteous, attentive, and marked by a palpable friendliness. I'll be back with pleasure :-)

Yesterday at El Rancho... You can't tell the change of ownership. If you do, it's only in a positive way. The service was extremely attentive, friendly, and courteous. The food was simply amazing, from the appetizer to the main course. For me, it's a more than consistent restaurant. The best steak in Siegen and the surrounding area. During my one-time visit as a guest to this city, I found everything to be such that I consider the 5 stars I gave it to be appropriate in all areas.

A cozy, rustic ambiance, friendly service, and exquisite food—I've rarely had such good meat dishes. However, reservations are essential!

We've loved going to El Ranch for over 30 years. But since the change of ownership, it's been a bit of a letdown. Yesterday was our last visit. The staff weren't attentive, and the meat isn't what it used to be. The steak wasn't seasoned. It lacked the marinade and crispy texture. The jacket potatoes were cold. When I complained, I was asked if I wanted a new one. How serious is that? For over €100, I expect better.

Very nice outdoor terrace with an excellent location. Drinks are good, but the meal I chose unfortunately didn't get a thumbs-up. The gambas (small shrimp) in oil with garlic were swimming in a watery broth of chili and paprika. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the Argentinian soup either. It's all a matter of taste, of course. The service from the waiter was sloppy. A real shame.

Had a very good meal there. You can either put together your favorite steak with your choice of side dishes or you can choose something else from the menu. Nice ambience, great service and the staff are super friendly. However, the toilet rooms would benefit from a few small repairs. However, that doesn't detract from the good food and doesn't deduct any stars. We will definitely come back 👍👍!

Today I am revising my review from 3 years ago. Back then 5 stars as a reward for quality and service over many years. Unfortunately, the entire team has apparently changed and is significantly younger. This isn't a problem in principle, but if you hear the phrase "so through" when ordering medium-rare, the visit starts off strange. I have been visiting the restaurant for many years and the standard has always been consistently high - including the price, but you know that beforehand. We have now had the impression several times that the quality is steadily declining. The price/performance ratio is no longer suitable and we will not visit the restaurant again in the future. Asparagus and potatoes were completely over salted, when we complained about this the comment was "he knew that". When I was finally informed today that it was no longer possible to print out an entertainment receipt in addition to my invoice, I found that to be bold. Since every invoice has a sequential number, this is of course not a problem... if you want. I was annoyed that I also gave a tip beforehand. Unfortunately, unfortunately...... a really excellent restaurant is going downhill.......

I won't go there anymore because it doesn't taste like it used to. The meat lacks roasted and grilled flavors. You have to pay extra for bread with the soup. The typical grilled smell that used to fill your nose and make you want steak is missing. The place was always full on Sundays. Yesterday, April 13th, 2025, many tables were empty at 1 p.m. The El Rancho steakhouse in Siegen was always a highlight for me and my family, but unfortunately not anymore.

Became aware of the restaurant by chance. The meat is of great quality and I have never had such a delicious bean soup before. We'll definitely be back.

Today I would like to tell you about my experiences at the El Rancho steakhouse. There are enough free and paid parking spaces in the surrounding area. The ambience is Argentinian, rustic and very cozy. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The quality of the food is very good, the meat was cooked to perfection and the portions are good. So all in all a positive experience, everything went well.

An absolute recommendation. Here you will always receive very friendly and courteous service. In addition, you don't have to wait long for food or drink. The portions are very small for the high price - The selection of vegetables shown on the menu consisted of a floret each of broccoli and cauliflower, each of which was only cooked in water - No sauce. But the meat is outstanding. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and inviting. The service was very courteous and quick. Any time!

Das Ding ist riesig, sieht gut, das wars aber auch schon. Das Essen ist mittelprächtig, die Preise gesalzen, der Service ist so beschi....... das man die richtigen Worte hier gar nicht nutzen kann. Food is very good. Service not particularly attentive. We stood in the doorway for a while until someone showed us the reserved table. (The restaurant wasn't really full at that time.) When we had finished eating, we sat in front of the empty, dirty dishes for a quarter of an hour and waited for them to be cleared away and for us to pay. During this time, food was brought to the table next to us, but our table was still ignored. I then went to the front myself and asked for the bill.... I didn't give a tip. The waiter was generally rather “grumpy”

Wir waren gestern mal wieder im El Rancho. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und bekamen unseren zuvor reservierten Platz zugeteilt. Ein freundlicher Kellner brachte uns prompt die Karten und fragte nach dem Getränkewunsch. Wir bestellten Wein und Wasser. Nachdem die Getränke gebracht wurden haben wir unser Essen bestellt. 1 mal Gambas al Ajillo, 2 mal Filetsteak 300 Gramm, 1 mal Röstkartoffeln, 1 mal Country Fries, zweimal Salat vom Büffet Kostenpunkt 141,70 € ! Zur Qualität: Beide Weine waren lecker und von guter Qualität. Auch das Fleisch war von hervorragender Qualität und auf den Punkt gegart. Sehr lecker. Die Salatbar bot ausreichend Auswahl an frischen und knackigen Salaten, die zur Auswahl stehenden Dressings empfanden wir allerdings alle recht fad und geschmacklos. Zum Glück gab es Salz und Pfeffer auf dem Tisch. Die Gambas al Ajillo schmeckten leider überhaupt nicht! Völlig ohne Geschmack schwammen sie in Öl mit Paprikastücken! Chili und Knoblauch habe ich in diesem Sud nicht finden können. Die Röstkartoffeln werden in der Karte mit Speck und Zwiebeln angepriesen, gebracht wurden allerdings verbrannte Kartoffelscheiben ohne Geschmack und ohne Speck. Alles in allem leider völlig überteuert.

Food was great, nothing to complain about at all. The staff was also super friendly and attentive, plus the usual traditional rustic atmosphere. Gladly again soon.

The restaurant is in the upper town. Cozy, rustic atmosphere. Menu with sufficient selection. Salad buffet available. The dishes are tasty and have a good portion. Nice and friendly staff. Price/management of food and drinks is reasonable. There is an outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant, unfortunately located directly on the side street. A table reservation is definitely recommended as the restaurant is always busy. A few parking spaces nearby. Access is not barrier-free.

Top tent? I really don't understand it. Service very nice... but the food... makes you feel like you're going back 20 years in time. Salad bar? Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, raw vegetables and corn? Eww. As a starter, a shrimp cocktail with "crispy" bread... the bread was so tough that I think it had been there for a day... not to mention the cocktail. If this is the best tent in Siegen then I think it is very disappointing for the people there 😅. Phew, what a disappointment.

Was there this evening with my colleagues for the Christmas party. The food was great! But what is really outstanding is the service! So friendly and professional! We felt very comfortable. Also through the ambience! The only thing I still complain about is the salad bar. Unfortunately I don't think they're that great for over 6 euros.

It should actually be a 3 star rating. Since I don't want to harm the restaurant, I would still like to express my criticism in the hope that it will be noticed internally. My steak with beans and bacon was not what I expected. The degree of cooking was right, but the meat was quite tough and tasted mediocre. The beans were completely overcooked and absolutely salty. There was a thick flap of fat on top of the beans that was inedible. This is not how you prepare bacon beans. The waiter shrugged my shoulders and said that it was because of the bacon that it was salty. Then here's a tip: if I add salty components to a dish, I reduce the salt in the other components. The salad bar consists of green lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots and coleslaw with 2 dressings. Basically what you throw on a kebab. If I pay around 40 euros for a steak, 7 euros for a salad and almost 7 euros for beans, then I expect significantly more than what we were offered. Because I cook it much better at home and with more sophistication.

The onion was still raw on the fried potatoes and the steak was not seasoned. Unfortunately not so nice.

I can only warmly recommend the steakhouse El Rancho in Siegen! The quality of the cuisine is exceptional - the steaks are perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavor. You can tell that attention is paid to the highest quality and fresh ingredients here. The side dishes and sauces also go perfectly with the steaks. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and calm, making it an ideal place for a relaxing evening. The service is always friendly, attentive and professional, so you feel completely comfortable. Although the prices are a little higher, the quality and the overall package make every cent absolutely justified. For a great steak experience in Siegen, El Rancho is definitely my first choice! I always enjoy coming back. Highly recommended!

Argentinian steakhouse in Mediterranean style with cowhide on the furniture. The food is very tasty and prepared according to your wishes, the staff is always friendly and attentive.

Food was always perfect under the direction of the Yugoslavs. Now others have taken over. Which I know but don't appreciate. I think I'll find another steakhouse. I lack trust in the new tenants. Maybe I'll give you a chance, but I'm not sure because I worked with them and didn't feel like I could rely on them. We'll see, one day I'll dine there, it will be the first or the last time. das fleisch war wirklich sehr lecker ich habe ribeye bestellt es war perfekt gegart und die gewürze waren großartig der service war etwas langsam aber das personal war freundlich die atmosphäre war auch sehr entspannt und einladend die preise waren etwas hoch aber für die qualität angemessen es ist eine gute wahl für fleischliebhaber

We live over 300km away and were in Siegen at the weekend and had dinner at "El Rancho" again after 16 years. Luckily nothing has changed and even the chef is still the same. We were again very enthusiastic about our food (rump steak, fillet steak and schnitzel). The meat was excellent and grilled to perfection. The good selection of salads in the salad bar is still very fresh and good and is always refilled immediately. The side dishes (chanterelles, fries, croquettes, sauces) are still just as good as they used to be. The ambience hasn't changed either, it's still just as beautiful and well-kept. Great praise definitely goes not only to the kitchen, but also to the very friendly, attentive and international staff. The prices are certainly higher than usual, but this is justified due to the very good cuisine, the ambience and the friendly staff. We would love to come back.

I went in because it was in front of a church and seemed to have a nice atmosphere. It was a Friday night, but I got in without a reservation. I ordered the sirloin with mushroom sauce. Not only the meat but also the mushrooms were fresh and delicious. It also came with a salad bar, so I had plenty of vegetables, and the price was reasonable, so I was satisfied. I ate it inside the store, and the one negative point was that there were a lot of flies swarming around the bread, but other than that I was satisfied.

Wir waren wieder einmal mit unseren erwachsenen Kindern und 2 Enkeln im El Rancho, wie seit vielen Jahren. Jetzt zum zweiten Mal beim neuen Inhaber mit neuen Mitarbeitern. Die Qualität der Speisen ist nach wie vor auf sehr hohem Niveau. Die Mitarbeiter sind nicht unfreundlich aber bei weitem nicht so ( kinder-) freundlich wie die früheren Mitarbeiter. Das Zahlen mit AMEX ist erstmals seit 30 Jahren nicht mehr möglich.

In itself a very nice restaurant/inn with a nice ambience. I was there with my husband last summer, but we expected more given the prices. Considering that you have to pay for the steak, salad, side dishes, and even the sauces etc. individually, it just doesn't taste good. I had a (actually) tender steak and neither I nor my husband liked it. The meat tasted old and was really tough. My husband couldn't eat a quarter of his steak because there was a thick tendon that couldn't be cut, which ran through the entire piece. As mentioned, simply far too expensive for such “quality”. Value for money is absolutely not right.

STEAK great as always! Salad bar very boring, little choice and always the same thing. So I used vegetables as a side dish, unfortunately without dressing, but nice and crunchy.

On the menu it says lumberjack steak from pork steak... Sorry guys, a lumberjack steak is cut from the shoulder. And I wouldn't know that the pork shoulder is a steak piece... But if you don't know, you'll pay a lot for it a lot of money... 😕 Enjoy your meal anyway...

It's actually considered the worst steak restaurant. After my first visit, however, it was more like “approved”. The first drink order went wrong and the food had the wrong accompaniment. The steak was well done instead of medium and then we waited for 3/4 hours in front of an empty glass. Then we paid and left. At over 90 euros for 2 meals and 2 drinks, I would have expected much more. A pity

The whole place seems very old-fashioned, the communication with the service staff was very bad, the lady in service seemed confused. The meat was stringy, 1/4 of it went back to the kitchen. The dessert was horrible, spray cream from a can, way too sweet, the ice cream was old and from a bulk package and the kitchen doesn't seem to be able to distinguish pistachios from raisins. All in all, an absolute failure. No recommendation.
