Great alternative to german, Italian, Döner fair that i usually eat in mainz. The quality of the meat is definitely noticeable. Sides and wine were very good as well. Steak temp is a little different there and trends to the rarer side, so med rare was rare+. They re-fired it to our liking and the staff was extremely gracious and friendly.

As a guest in Mainz, I was looking for a place to eat well and found it at El Chico. Very tasty food. The steak was cooked to perfection as ordered and the staff was very friendly. I didn't have a reservation and was traveling alone.

Yesterday, June 27th, 2024, around 7 p.m. I wanted to eat something with my girlfriend at the El Chico steakhouse. We saw a free table that wasn't reserved and sat down there. It was also the only table without a sign. All other free tables had a sign indicating that the table had been reserved. We waited for the waiter (light-colored guy, young-looking with a beard.) Next to us at the table were 2 young women who were talking about how it's a shame that they didn't make a reservation because they saw that there was no space there was more. When the waiter came out, he saw us at the table and the 2 young women who were standing next to us spoke to the waiter. The waiter asked them if they had reserved a table. One woman said no and asked whether they had to wait or whether this could be sorted out somehow. The waiter then told us that we didn't make a reservation in a rude tone. Sent us away and the 2 women were allowed to sit at the table. Again. The table was not reserved. And the two women didn't have a reservation either. But the waiter apparently wanted to please the young ladies. I mean... if there were 5 people and we were only 2 people, I can at least say that it's ok because of sales. (Although that wouldn't be fair either). This is absolutely an outrage.  The waiter thinks we didn't understand why he sent us away. But we were aware of it, we just didn't want to argue in front of a full shop and disturb other guests. I hope the manager of the restaurant reads the review and responds to it too. Because what my girlfriend and I experienced was outrageous

On a quiet alley, steak was good and portion is good too.

Definitely tasty, but in my opinion the service and sophistication could still improve a bit given the price.

We ordered cutlets here. The meat was prepared as requested. I recommend the pepper sauce with this. Not cheap but worth every cent.

Waren zum Geburtstag wieder einmal da gewesen. Und was soll man sagen, Steaks ausgezeichnet. Servus freundlich und zuvorkommend. Hatte für innen reserviert, haben dann wegen dem schöner Wetter draußen Platz genommen. War kein Problem gewesen. Egal, welsches Fleisch man wählt die Qualität ist hervorragend. Auf den Punkt und sehr lecker. Daher nur zu empfehlen. Tisch vorher reservieren, da abends immer was los ist. Gerade mit größeren Gruppen.

Really good steak, one of the best if not the best in Mainz. The service was a bit bad-tempered and irritable but it wasn't that bad, it was the food that counted. The ambience was also quite nice, full house, including a few aloof snots. Always my pleasure.

Delicious food in a cozy, sometimes loud, atmosphere. The small card is very nice.

Very authentic restaurant with good cuisine and great service. I had a beef fillet with baked potato - just perfect.

Rump steak completely pulled through with tendons. Fat edge all around. Hard to cut through. Inedible. Koch offered an alternative, but I lost my appetite. The whole thing is not recommended. I won't visit this lolal again and won't recommend it either.

The rump steak was served half raw, even after the "rescue attempt" the piece of meat did not come to the table medium rare (as ordered). That's probably why the waitress asked me, half-jokingly, whether she should bring me a candle. Rarely laughed so much and never gave it a second time.

El Chico is our favorite steak restaurant in Mainz, a real institution. Reservations are recommended as the dining room really doesn't have many tables. This means it is always “cosy” and sometimes has a decent volume level. The service is always top, the ladies bustle around, but still take their time, ask questions, explain - A1! The meat is beyond any doubt, in the last 15 years we have NEVER had a single bad piece here, always perfectly prepared.

Wonderful steaks made from great meat.

The lamb fillets are pure madness. The beef fillet is always perfectly cooked. The service is always top.

Io filetto da 300 gr con patata in salsa yogurt e mia moglie una bistecca. Carne di alta qualità cucinata in modo magistrale. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Da tornarci!

Ein kleines gemütliches Restaurant, mit tollem Ambiente. Die Qualität der Speisen sind spitze, genau das richtige für Liebhaber guter Aargentinischen Steaks, dass Personal ist immer sehr Freundlich.

Sehr schönes Lokal. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell. Der Wein, die Steaks, die Salate und die Beilagen waren allesamt hervorragend.

Just ate there this evening. I ordered the 300g Filet cooked to medium as recommended by our server when I described how I wanted it. It was cooked as a true medium rare is in the United States - a thick stripe of red through the center. This piece of meat was the size of a baseball and tasted amazing. In my 61 years of life, I will say that this was in the top 2% of all steaks I’ve ever had. My wife, who likes the occasional steak, who, over the last 25 years I have coached down from hard medium well (ruined) steaks to medium-medium rare steaks ordered a 200g filet cooked medium well upon the servers advice. She described it as unbelievable and it was cooked to a perfect juicy pink. The salad that comes with the steak is offered with a yogurt or other type of dressing… I don’t eat dressing so I chose neither and they brought out a vial of olive oil and another of balsamic vinegar in case I wanted something different. I didn’t but my wife wished she could have had that. We ordered a baked potato to share… it was cooked just right. Each meal also came with two slices of garlic toast. The service was exceptional and the price was incredibly low. I had tap water to drink, my wife had sparkling water and a glass of wine - the tab was 78 Euros I believe. This photo is of my 300g steak. Magnificent experience.

Das Essen war unterschiedlich. Wir hatten den Rumpsteakspieß mit Pommes und ein Rumpsteak mit Maiskolben, jeweils mit dem Vorspeisensalat. Der Vorspeisensalat mit einem Orangen-Senf Dressing war uninspiriert wie ein Salat in den frühen 90ern. Das Dressing war zu süß und auch recht ungekürzt. Die Hauptspeisen wurden medium bestellt (nachdem Hinweis, dass Medium Rare bei ihnen bedeutet, dass das Fleisch da roh ist), erhalten haben wir ein Rumpsteak mit Gargrad zwischen Medium und Medium-Rare. Der Spieß dagegen war komplett Roh. Geschmacklich waren trotzdem die Fleischgerichte lecker, hätten minimal mehr mit Salz und Pfeffer gewürzt sein können. Der gegrillte Maiskolben war lecker, ich hätte mir nur etwas Butter und Salz/Pfeffer auf dem kolben gewünscht. Was aus meiner Sicht wirklich nicht sein darf, sind die Toiletten. In den Pissoirs steht das gelbe Wasser/Urin-Gemisch, so dass man beim spülen Angst haben muss, dass es überläuft.

Der Steak war ein Traum, leider hat mir die Folienkartoffel überhaupt nicht geschmeckt, Sie war wahrscheinlich zu lange gekocht, ich weiß echt nicht. Es gab 2 Soßen zu Auswahl, leider schmeckten mir beide nicht, ehrlich gesagt schmeckten beide gleich. Die Dessert waren sehr lecker. Die Kellnerin war richtig nett , die Atmosphäre war sehr schön. Leider hatten wir am dem Tag das Pech ,das neben uns eine Familie saß mit Baby, das die ganze Zeit geweint hat. Ich persönlich würde mit so einem kleinen Baby nicht in diesem Restaurant hingehen. Im ganzen, werden wir bestimmt das Restaurant nochmals besuchen.

Sehr gutes Steak-House mit super Essen. Die Karte ist übersichtlich, hier erkennt man aber auch direkt die Spezialisierung . Die Steaks werden perfekt auf den Punkt gegart wie bestellt geliefert. Die Fleischqualität ist sehr gut. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und nett. Ganz klar, wer Steaks mag, wird dieses Lokal lieben. Es ist zu empfehlen einen Platz zu reservieren.

Wir haben mit Freunden zu Abend gegessen. Das Essen war außerordentlich gut. Das Fleisch auf den Punkt. Die Beilagen genial. Die Getränke genauso gut ausgewählt wie das Fleisch. Einen Stern habe ich abgezogen wegen den Preisen. Trotzdem vorbehaltlos zu empfehlen.

Das beste Stück Fleisch was ich je gegessen habe. Butterzart. Der Service ist sehr sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Preislich natürlich gehoben aber das bezahlt man gerne für diese Qualität. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Zu erst ich schreibe fast nie eine Rezension. Anna und Mario sind Abstand die 2 Sympathischsten Kellner, die ich jemals kennengelernt habe. Danke dass ich bei euch essen durfte. Das Essen war außerordentlich gut. Das Steak ok Point. Sehr zart und rosa. Definitiv wenn ich nach Mainz gehe ist das meine erste Anlaufstelle. Danke Mario Danke Anna für diesen Abend. Sehr gutes Essen und freundliche Bedienungen. Ambiente passt auch und es ist alles Sauber. Mein Rumsteak war genau nach meinem Wunsch serviert worden. Meine Begleitungen hatten das Filetsteak gehabt und Sie waren auch sehr zufrieden gewesen. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur weiter empfehlen. Tischreservierung empfehlt sich, da es gut besucht ist.

Das Essen und der Service waren sehr gut. Wenn das Restaurant voll besucht ist, fühlt es sich allerdings ein wenig eng an und es ist dann insgesamt sehr laut.

Zu viert hatten wir draußen einen schönen Tisch bei gutem Wetter. Herzlich und freundlich empfangen bestellten wir Spieße und 1 x Filetsteak. Perfekt in der richtigen Garstufe auf den Punkt zubereitet. Ohne große Wartezeit wurden die leckeren Speisen serviert. Gerne kommen wir bei Gelegenheit wieder.

Locale bello sia l'interno sia l'esterno. Fuori dal centro pedonale ma molto vicino. Ottima qualità, ottima la carne, buone le zuppe. Attese un po' lunghine ma ne vale la pena. Prezzo onesto. Personale veloce e molto disponibile. Tutti molto gentili. Da evitare il tavolo vicino alla cassa in quanto si viene infastiditi dalle persone alla cassa a pagare. Esprimo solo il mio parere senza che alcuno si offenda. Purtroppo anche in Germania come in Italia si può fumare ai tavoli all'aperto quindi si è infastiditi da questi fumatori che se ne infischiano del prossimo. So che in Italia è così e quando posso prendo il tavolo all'interno. Pensavo che all'estero ci fosse più rispetto ma non è così. Qui il problema del tavolo all'interno è che con le finestre aperte arriva il fumo, quindi consiglio il tavolo all'interno ma nella parte staccata dalle porte-finestre. Parcheggio a 300 metri .

Das rib eye steak ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben.Salat könnte etwas mehr von der köstlichen vinaigrette Verträgen,Pommes durchschnittlich,Pfeffersoßen und Knoblauchbrot leckerst.Angenehmer Service.Aus der Küche anfangs starker Bratfettgeruch. Würzburger Dunkel ,kalt und weg damit. Starke Empfehlung,unbedingt reservieren,im Moment kein Ruhetag! Very nice service! We arrived just when it opened at 17.00 and they accommodated us to give us a table. Price quality is really good if you’re looking for a good steak and nice fresh simple accompaniments. Second time we’ve been and not disappointed.

Ich habe noch nie so ein leckeres Steak gegessen! Schon beim reinstechen mit der Gabel hat man gemerkt wie zart das Steak war. Es war auf den Punkt so, wie ich es bestellt habe! Das Ambiente ist auch sehr schön und die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich! Wenn wir wieder mal nach Mainz kommen, werden wir dort wieder essen gehen!
