Simply top-notch, very good quality, great atmosphere and superb service staff 👌

The meat was tough and sinewy, and I have rarely experienced such unfriendly service – therefore, unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. The price and quality are not in line.

The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between relaxed comfort and a refined dining setting, making it ideal for both a casual evening out and a special occasion. The menu is focused on the steak and it is worthy: cooked precisely to order, it was tender, flavorful, and juicy inside. The service was friendly and quick. We came without a reservation and were seated in. Could be the only disadvantage that it could be packed and therefore loud. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted meal.

A steakhouse that excels in both taste, price, and quality. I was even fortunate enough to find FORTIUS wine, which I enjoyed on my pilgrimage, in Germany. I regret not having known about it in Mainz, where I've been nearly ten times. I'll definitely be back next time I visit Mainz!

Two stars maximum. Dinner for two for 90 euros, and the side dishes are a boring side salad and industrial-sized fries. There's certainly a lack of what's needed for a good dinner in this price range. The steak was okay. The taste was okay, but nothing more. The service was also okay. I wouldn't recommend it for this price range. At the end of the day, it's not about a few euros, as long as it's a well-rounded and good dinner.

We were there with a larger group. Everyone praised the food. Rump steak, fillet steak, side dishes, salad. All very good. The waiters were friendly and attentive. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to go inside to pay, as otherwise it seemed impossible to split the bill between us all. The cash register was very crowded, and the waiters had to get past the narrow spot. Also, guests who were eating right next to the cash register might feel disturbed by us waiting to pay. In my opinion, a waiter should be able to pick up a pen and paper and manually bill each guest, regardless of the payment method. But don't overstate this. If you want to eat great steaks, come here.

We had a stag night and reserved a table. The weather was perfect, so we had a table outside. The carpaccio was freshly prepared next to us with pepper, salt, and lemon...to die for! It came with a shrimp cocktail, herb-flavored bread, and then the salad...it was truly amazing! And we hadn't even gotten to the main course yet...300g fillet steak in medium and rare, lamb, T-bone, grilled corn on the cob, steak fries...everything was perfect. The meat was impeccable, cooked to perfection, and the flavor was absolutely unbelievable! Thanks to the friendly staff who looked after us so well without making us wait long. You played a huge part in ensuring we had a wonderful evening!

I think I had the most delicious food I've had since coming to Mainz! The sirloin steak was really tender, and the Riesling and red wine I had as an aperitif were both great! Oh, and thank you for telling me about my bag that I almost forgot.

Conclusion: Good quality meat, but overall not a culinary highlight. The salad and dessert, in particular, could have been much better. I expected more. My visit to the restaurant left mixed impressions on the culinary experience. The quality of the meat (300g rump steak) was fine. Perfectly cooked, well prepared, and the herb butter was very tasty. The salad seemed carelessly put together and more reminiscent of a chore than a fresh prelude to the main course. The dessert, vanilla ice cream with raspberries, was also bland and lacking in refinement. The service, however, was consistently friendly and attentive, which made the evening pleasant.

Das Salatdressing ist sehr gut. Einzig der Wein, Malbec, hat nicht unsere Erwartung erfüllt. Für das Niveau ist der Preis angemessen. Wir werden wieder kommen.

The side dishes were also impressive. The prices are completely humane for the great food and drinks. The ambience is, as is typical for the Spaniards, cozy and homely. The staff and bosses are super caring and nice. Only recommended.

The clerk friendly explained and introduced the menu in English. I ordered 200g of medium-cooked filet without any additional side dishes. It came with salad and bread. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was very delicious without any sauce. If you go to Mainz, it is worth trying!

The cut of the rump steak was really bad. Had to spit it out twice. The fries were extremely greasy. The day we were there, the waiter dropped a tray full of beer - really dangerous. Overall not happy for the price, especially because of the meat quality. The menu was also simply unreadable; written and copied by hand! Won't come back.

Wir hatten einen Tisch für zwei reserviert. Bekommen haben wir einen sehr kleinen Tisch im hinteren Bereich direkt an der Heizung. So einen Tisch würde man auch als "Katzentisch" bezeichnen können. Da wir erstmals da waren wollten wir aber ohne Reklamation mal sehen was uns da geboten wird. Es war kalt an diesem Tag und direkt an der Heizung die an der Wand montiert war, also in Tuchfühlung mit der Heitzung, das war nicht so angenehm. Nun gut, bestellt hatten wir ein Filet, ein Ribe Eye Steak und Kartoffel dazu. Zwei Wein Syrah und Wasser. Der Wein war soweit OK, durchschnittlich. Für die Qualität etwas zu teuer. Wie sollte das Fleisch gebraten sein fragte die Bedienung, nicht blutig sagten wir. Das wäre dann im allgemeinen Verständnis Medium in Richtung Well Done. Auf das Essen mußten wir nicht lange warten, es gab einen kleinen Salat vorab der durchaus sehr gut und frisch war. Das Filetsteak war auch so wie man es in einem Steakhaus erwarten darf, es war Medium gebraten, ging OK. Das Ribe Eye Steak war unter Medium gebraten, also blutig und die Hälfte vom Fleich war durchsetzt mit Haut und stark durchwachsen. Ich hätte das Fleisch natürlich noch einmal auf den Grill geben lassen können. Nur, meine Erwartungshaltung ist, daß wenn ich schon in ein Steakhaus gehe und gefragt werde wie das Steak sein soll, dann soll es auch direkt so gegrillt werden. Ich habe keine Lust erst noch zu reklamieren und auf das nachgebesserte Steak zu warten. Ambiete auch soweit, bis auf den Tisch direkt an der Heizung die geschätzte 2 Meter hoch direkt neben dem Tisch an der Wand montiert ist, OK. Wobei ich den Bereich im hinteren Bereich vom Restaurant nicht empfehlen würde. Die sehr guten Bewertungen die ich hier in den Bewertungen sehen kann, kann ich nicht teilen. Meine Erwartungen konnten nicht erfüllt werden, insgesamt keine Empfehlung für diesen Abend.

In my opinion, El Chico is simply the best steakhouse in all of Mainz. I've been here so many times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The prices are more than justified and we would be happy to come back. The rump steak skewer is always a 12/10.

I invited the family there because it had been recommended to me many times. Was a good decision. We all had rump steak. We all enjoyed it very much. All of our wishes regarding the degree of doneness were met. The side dishes were also delicious. We sat outside and had reservations. A reservation makes sense, especially in the dark season, because it's manageable inside. The location is quiet and central. We had a very nice lady serving us and a gentleman who was a bit reserved, but maybe he was just having a bad day, that can happen.

Steaks are very delicious. In October 2024, steak for 2 people costs 70 euros on average. The sauces of the Yogurt Salads are excellent.

Rushed and Disappointing Experience at El Chico We arrived at El Chico at around 9:00 PM, expecting a relaxed dinner as their stated closing time on Google was 11:00 PM. The restaurant was almost empty, and we ordered a substantial meal, including a large entrecôte, lamb fillet, a carafe of wine, and a large bottle of water. However, at around 9:39 PM, while we were still enjoying our meal, the staff informed us that the restaurant would be closing in 15 minutes. This was incredibly frustrating as we were enjoying our wine and food at that point. It felt like we were being rushed out without any concern for our dining experience. In fact, the waiter came to take our plates just minutes later, forcing us to finish everything quickly and leave. If we had been informed about the early closing when we arrived, we would never have ordered such a large meal. To pay €98 for a rushed and uncomfortable dining experience is simply unacceptable. While unforeseen issues may arise, the lack of communication and care for the customer was very disappointing. Not cool at all!

5star for the food and -1000stars for the Menu. This is not how a Menu should Look like in an almost expensive restaurant. At least using the SMS system in the Phone and making a screenshot and using it as Menu would look better and readable as what is in front of the customers called menu

If you are passing through Mainz, you should not miss this restaurant. Redirected to this establishment by a lady from the city. This was not normal. What a delicious meal we had here. Really worth the full 5 stars!!

The Landen is a nice little steak house. Delicious food. Very nice employees. But you get the costs here. But you have to expect that at a steak house. This is a good restaurant for a nice dinner.

Great alternative to german, Italian, Döner fair that i usually eat in mainz. The quality of the meat is definitely noticeable. Sides and wine were very good as well. Steak temp is a little different there and trends to the rarer side, so med rare was rare+. They re-fired it to our liking and the staff was extremely gracious and friendly.

Yesterday, June 27th, 2024, around 7 p.m. I wanted to eat something with my girlfriend at the El Chico steakhouse. We saw a free table that wasn't reserved and sat down there. It was also the only table without a sign. All other free tables had a sign indicating that the table had been reserved. We waited for the waiter (light-colored guy, young-looking with a beard.) Next to us at the table were 2 young women who were talking about how it's a shame that they didn't make a reservation because they saw that there was no space there was more. When the waiter came out, he saw us at the table and the 2 young women who were standing next to us spoke to the waiter. The waiter asked them if they had reserved a table. One woman said no and asked whether they had to wait or whether this could be sorted out somehow. The waiter then told us that we didn't make a reservation in a rude tone. Sent us away and the 2 women were allowed to sit at the table. Again. The table was not reserved. And the two women didn't have a reservation either. But the waiter apparently wanted to please the young ladies. I mean... if there were 5 people and we were only 2 people, I can at least say that it's ok because of sales. (Although that wouldn't be fair either). This is absolutely an outrage.  The waiter thinks we didn't understand why he sent us away. But we were aware of it, we just didn't want to argue in front of a full shop and disturb other guests. I hope the manager of the restaurant reads the review and responds to it too. Because what my girlfriend and I experienced was outrageous
