Staiger's Waldhorn in Plochingen

Zufällige Entdeckungen können auch lecker sein. Das edle Kräuterschaumsüppchen und der leichte Ziegenkäsesalat waren bei dem warmen Wetter genau die richtige Wahl. Wie konnte ich diese kulinarische Perle bislang nur übersehen? Ich komme wieder, keine Frage!

Wir hatten für eine Geburstagsfeier bei Staigers Essen bestellt. Kurzfristig mussten wir die Feier absagen und einen neuen Termin finden - das war aber auch für das Catering zum Glück kein Problem und mit keinerlei Zusatzkosten verbunden. Die Beratung durch Herrn Staiger war gut, fair und sehr angenehm. Alles hat super geklappt. Hier wird wirklich auf den Kunden eingegangen. Das Essen war sehr gut, reichhaltig (viel zu viel! :-) ) und die Preise sind fair und angemessen. Gerne wieder!

Einfach immer schön,bei jedem Klogang werden Kin dheitserinnerungen wach. (Bilder im Gang),das Reh im Garten, usw. Essen immer sehr hochwertig und lecker,Personal superfreundlich. Herr und Frau Staiger immer präsent.

Eines der besten schwäbischen Restaurants, die ich kenne. Preislich gehoben, so aber auch die Qualität: absolut preiswert! Maultaschenquickie ist ein Muss!

Es wird eine hervorragende Qualität und Sterne-Niveau suggeriert. Doch am Ende sind es nur viel zu hohe Preise für einen Berg Linsen. Das Essen war am Tag des Besuches sehr salzig und hatte überhaupt nichts mit exellenter Küche zu tun. Wir hatten eine übersalzene Bärlauch-Creme und einen sehr salzigen Schwabenteller. Dieser war mit einem riesigen Berg Linsen und wenig Gutem bedeckt. Für uns kommt dieses Lokal leider nicht mehr in Frage. Auch wenn der Service sehr gut war. Unsere Empfehlung ist in Plochingen immernoch der Stumpenhof.

Wir waren zu einem Geburtstag eingeladen und seit langem mal wieder im Waldhorn. Ich muss sagen, dass das Essen in Ordnung war aber nicht so wie ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Die Schupfnudeln sind nach wie vor Klasse und als Beilage sehr zu empfehlen, ebenso der Knoblauchrostbraten. Alles andere war eher Durchschnitt. Die Saucen -ausgenommen die vom Knoblauchrostbraten, die ist nach wie vor einmalig lecker- waren relativ neutral und die einzelnen Gerichte der Gruppe bewertungsmäßig sehr durchwachsen. Der Service scheint etwas ausgepowert gewesen zu sein.

Hohe Erwartungen, leider enttäuschende Umsetzung Ich hatte mich aufgrund der hervorragenden Bewertung von 4,4 Sternen und der gehobenen Preisklasse sehr auf den Abend gefreut. Leider entsprach das Erlebnis nicht dem Standard, den man bei diesen Preisen erwarten darf. Die Kritikpunkte im Detail: Wartezeit & Temperatur: Nach einer Wartezeit von etwa 40 Minuten kam mein „Zweierlei vom rosa gebratenen Kalbstafelspitz“ leider nur maximal lauwarm am Tisch an. Bei einem Gericht dieser Güteklasse ist das sehr schade. Anrichteweise: Ein wesentlicher Grund für das schnelle Abkühlen war der leider völlig kalte Teller. In der gehobenen Gastronomie sollte das Vorwärmen der Teller eigentlich zum Standard gehören, um die Qualität des Essens bis zum Gast zu retten. Service: Als die Bedienung sich nach der Zufriedenheit erkundigte, wies ich freundlich darauf hin, dass das Essen nicht warm sei. Anstatt jedoch lösungsorientiert zu reagieren (z. B. durch das Angebot, den Teller kurz nachzuwärmen oder die Küche zu informieren), kam lediglich ein knappes „Entschuldigung“. Das ist für ein Restaurant mit diesem Anspruch leider zu wenig Service am Gast. Fazit: Handwerklich schien das Fleisch gut zubereitet, aber die mangelnde Temperatur und der lieblose Umgang mit Kritik trüben das Gesamtbild massiv. Für 4,4 Sterne und die aufgerufenen Preise erwarte ich ein stimmigeres Gesamtpaket. Schade!

War sehr leckeres Essen. Komplett empfehlenswert und dafür dass es deutsch bürgerliche Küche ist auch echt empfehlenswert von den vegetarischen Gerichten. Ich war begeistert und es war alles sehr frisch und super Qualität. Auch super Lang um danach einen Spaziergang an der Rems oder zum Gartenschauplatz zu machen.

Also was service angeht merkt Mann die Ausbildung das personals. Und der Koch ist eine andere Liga ich habe ihn nicht gesehen aber dafür das was er macht. Also in keinem Lehrbuch wird es drin stehen um Gottes Willen wie kann es gut sein. Ein Einfaches Käsespätzle

Hervorragendes Restaurant mit sehr feiner Küche und sehr gutem Service. Die Festtagssuppe schmeckte hervorragend, der moderne Teller - naja… Zum Hauptgericht hatte ich Rinderroulade. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, eine ganze gerollte Roulade zu bekommen und nicht vier geschnittene Scheiben. Die Spätzle waren top und das gemischte Gemüse Anka Ratatouille perfekt knackig gegart. Die Rotwein-Sauce war mega lecker und perfekt abgeschmeckt. Alles in allem sehr gut und empfehlenswertes Restaurant.

Also sowas habe ich selten erlebt…….ein Restaurantbesuch der rund um in allen Punkten gelungen ist. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich urig, das Servicepersonal freundlich, aufmerksam und stets zur Stelle bei Fragen oder Bestellungen. Das Essen ist in meinen Wahrnehmung wirklich meisterhaft. Ich hatte den Wildteller mit allerlei verschiedenen Wildvariationen und war vom ersten bis zum letzten Biss begeistert, obwohl ich Wild immer skeptisch begegne. Jederzeit ein Besuch wert.

Heute Nachmittag habe ich u.a. Cordon Bleu mit Spätzle bestellt. Das Fleisch wurde in gewohnter Qualität serviert. Die Vorfreude auf die sonst so leckeren Spätzle hielt nicht lange an, die servierten "Spätzle" haben diesen Namen nicht verdient. Kurz und matschig ist wohl die richtige Bezeichnung, die Semmelbrösel wurden ohne vorher geröstet zu werden darüber geleert.... sehr enttäuscht. Keine Stellungnahme auf die Reklamation. Vielen Dank für den Espresso, der leider keine echten Spätzle ersetzen kann.

Das Putenfleisch war für meinen Geschmack zu lange gebraten. Die Maultasche fand ich staubtrocken… vielleicht hat man sie zu lange in der Mikro gelassen? Bratkartoffeln und Sauerkraut waren aber gut.

Service sehr gut, Essen saulecker und Ambiente passend. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt alles war perfekt trotz gut besuchten Haus.

Wer die besondere Küche zu schätzen weiß, ist hier genau richtig. Leckeres Essen, aufmerksames Personal und ein angenehmes Ambiente, mehr muss man nicht sagen......weiter so, wir kommen gern wieder

Not only is the barn itself beautiful and rustic, requiring little to create a comfortable atmosphere, but the patio heaters also kept everything wonderfully warm during the colder months. The food was praised by everyone, and everything arrived as agreed and on time – excellent value for money. We highly recommend celebrating and dining there.

We've been there regularly, both privately and three times with our company for our Christmas party. The food is fantastic – Swabian, but not your average, more refined dishes. The prices are reasonable for the quality. Lunch is served without a reservation, but it's recommended to reserve for dinner, weekends, and holidays.

As someone with food intolerances, you're completely lost for the first few minutes until everyone remembers that there's a special menu listing allergens, but it's not written in enough detail to make everything clear. It's a good thing the kitchen was careful with how they put the dishes together. In the end, it was simply a classic dish, which was excellent, and you could tell it was high quality. Unfortunately, I have to deduct two stars because this initial procedure is usually what puts me off eating out. It's just too stressful, and the likelihood of trying something new drops to 1% since, out of 15 dishes, only one remains.

Staiger's Waldhorn has long been one of our favorite restaurants. So we were all the more disappointed on today's visit! The almost cold cauliflower wasn't al dente at all, but too tough. The "Gorgonzola sauce" was a watery béchamel sauce smothered in potatoes. The ham and cheese slice were also very cold and consequently tasteless. A very tasty and simple dish was miserably ruined. The only redeeming feature is the Szegediner Goulash, which was unfortunately served as a children's portion with a watery, unidentifiable, lumpy sauce. It later turned out to be mashed potatoes. An unknown flavor dominated the mush! CERTAINLY not nutmeg. It was 2 p.m. and we were hungry. The dishes we ordered were tasteless and presented without any care, but hunger drove us to eat them. We didn't want the stress of a fruitless argument with the waiter. He kept his distance from our table even though we were the last guests in the garden, and predictably, he didn't ask if the food was alright. No surprise there. We left the garden with a touch of unease, but not before taking a picture of the assembled kitchen crew, who were smiling as they ate generous portions on attractively arranged plates.

We were here as a family for the first time, and it was actually just a last resort. But we'll be back. The service team was incredibly friendly, there were no long waits, and all four meals were excellent. The only reason we're deducting one star is because the area around our table smelled of vomited baby milk. It's not the restaurant's fault, but every now and then a whiff wafted over. Unfortunately, it wasn't very pleasant.

The other diners were satisfied. No, I sent the food back, but received no concessions from the owner. Good things come to those who don't!

We are fans of Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli) and at this restaurant we ordered Maultaschen with caramelized onions and potato salad. The Maultaschen and potato salad were okay, but the caramelized onions were a disaster! The chef only sautéed them briefly, and they were still white, without any color. When I asked the kitchen why the caramelized onions weren't caramelized and lacked any roasted flavor, the answer was: "That's how we do it here." Dear chef: Your white onions on the Maultaschen are a disgrace; apparently, you don't understand the full range of flavors a properly caramelized onion can produce, nor the wonderful roasted and caramelized notes! Because you are incapable of making a proper, caramelized onion sauce, AS IT SHOULD BE (!), we will not be ordering this dish from you again!

We had a family celebration there, including lunch. We received excellent advice beforehand during the planning phase. The celebration itself was lovely. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service was also good. What's especially nice is that it's very child-friendly.

The food here is pretty good, but the price is a different story. You should also bring some time. Don't be thirsty, though, as the drinks take forever.

Service was very nice, but there was probably too much to do that evening. The sauerkraut was overcooked and tasted very rancid, but you couldn't complain about it until after the meal because no one came and asked during that time or there was probably no time for it. It then turned out that the sauerkraut is cooked in lard, the only problem is that this is not or was not obvious, something like that should be written on the menu in my opinion. It's a shame 😕 as already mentioned, something like this should be on the menu if someone doesn't eat pork or only eats vegetarian! Personally, I only know homemade sauerkraut and it's slightly crunchy or you still have something to chew and it's not mushy like it was there...

We have been here several times, always in the evenings, and were very satisfied. On December 28th, 2024, 12 of us were here in the afternoon and had a very disappointing visit. The food was just average and consistently lukewarm; Changes in orders for supplements were not taken into account; The waiting time for ordering both drinks and food was very long even though there was no business. The blonde waitress, who had no idea about the service, dishes or friendliness, took the cake. She didn't respond at all to suggestions about food. The price-performance ratio here was absolutely not right, especially since the dishes are very expensive considering the cost of goods sold.

There were around 100 people in the hall with a closed party. Right at the start of the event there was no toilet paper in one of the women's toilets and no paper in the men's towel racks. The waitress couldn't give me an answer to the question of which white or red wine was offered. Inquired and the answer was Riesling from Germany and Merlot from Italy. It could be a little more detailed. Food was ok, but the kitchen was completely overwhelmed with 100 meals. Geschnetzeltes with spaetzle came to our table 30 minutes after the first meal. Potato gratin was lukewarm, cheese was already hard again. I only managed 1 schnitzel out of the 2 on my plate and asked for some aluminum foil. The service person then said that she had to charge 1 euro for the piece of aluminum foil. She was visibly uncomfortable. This is simply brazen and outrageous. 1 roll of foil costs 2 euros and I don't want to calculate how much schnitzel you can pack in it.

Bei einer kleinen Radtour sind meine Frau und ich eher zufällig in das Rstaurant Staigers Waldhorn geraten. Das Restaurant hat einen rustikalen Charakter und strahlt Gemütlichkeit aus. Das von uns ausgewählte Essen (Geschmorter Braten vom Reh und Hirsch) schmeckte uns ausgezeichnet. Es war vor allem auch preiswert. Zur schwäbischen Gastlichkeit gehörte auch die freundliche Bedienung.

The dishes on offer are very good and tasty, so there is something to suit every taste. On weekdays, a daily meal with soup or dessert is offered. The service leaves nothing to be desired and is always friendly and courteous. There are enough free parking spaces directly at the inn. Card or cash payment possible. All in all, a very pleasant Swabian inn that you'll always enjoy coming back to.

We were invited and 5 people. The hut in the beer garden is great and cozy. The waitresses were also very nice, but not exactly attentive. The worst thing, however, was the price-performance ratio of the food. Because for that money you can actually expect the food to come to the table hot. The pork fillet was lukewarm and the variation of char went right back because it was almost cold! Shortly afterwards no new food came, the previous one was just warmed up. Not possible for a price of €33.50. The liver was hard and the fries with the cordon bleu were totally over salted. When the complaint was made, people shrugged their shoulders and commented “Well”. The boss's reaction was also not worthy of such a place. Unfortunately, high prices are no guarantee of quality! No reason for us to come again.

Very expensive but the food is worth it

We always used to come here for the very clever Maultäschle trilogy. After Corona, prices rose sharply and portions became smaller. We would have gotten over one measure, but both at the same time meant that we didn't go there anymore. Today we ate there again. Unfortunately the trilogy no longer exists. We then had a soup as a starter, which tasted excellent, but was served in a milk jug (yes, a milk jug). 150 ml of soup that then disappears into a large bowl for €9.90... It's hard to understand why people save money on soup, that really upset me. The Maultaschen was only lukewarm and a little dried out, and the potato salad was unfortunately very sour. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was also tiny... The kitchen actually has a lot to offer, but the price/performance ratio is simply no longer right here. Either home-style cooking or fine dining - both at the same time don't work, at least for us. Still, all the best.

Last week we had our church wedding and afterwards we went to the champagne reception in the Staigers Waldhorn. This took place in the beer garden in the fresh air. Various drinks and finger food selections, which were very well received by the guests. The meal then continued upstairs in the historic ballroom. Both starters and main course were very tasty. The starters were served and each guest received their starter at the same time. The main course was then served as a buffet. The service staff always went through and refilled the drinks regularly. The entire staff is very nice and we would recommend the Staigers Waldhorn.

Bodenständiges bürgerliches Essen mit saisonalen Angebote in einem deutsch geführten Restaurant. Auch so etwas leckeres wie gebackene Leber ist auf der Speisekarte ( okay, ist Geschmackssache). Schmackhafter Beisalat, ordentlich Soße😊.

I used to always eat here, but then I haven't eaten here for about 15 years. Now 6 months ago once with a closed group, then 2 days ago as a couple with my mother. With the company, the food wasn't particularly great, but the service was very friendly. But the experience the day before yesterday was really underground. It started when we sat down at a free table in a half-empty restaurant (there were no reserved signs anywhere), were ignored for 10 minutes and then pointed out that it was customary to wait at the entrance until you are seated at a table by the staff. Unfortunately, there is no sign or staff in the entrance area and this rule does not seem to have applied to other guests who came. Otherwise the service wasn't really friendly and orders for drinks were ignored. The food was overall bad. The exception was the side salad, which was really tasty. The roulade with spring vegetables was particularly bad. The meat came sliced ​​and was completely dry (probably kept warm under the salamander for too long) and the grilled vegetables were heavily browned on the outside and yet almost raw on the inside! I love crunchy vegetables, but that wasn't possible! The sauce was ok, the spaetzle was good, but the disappointment was great. The veal slices were better but just below average! The espresso and cappucino came from a fully automatic machine, and that's how they tasted. The only thing worth mentioning is the prices. We only paid 61 euros for roulade, side salad, veal slices, apple juice spritzer, tea, espresso and cappucino! But there was a little outrageousness at the end! We only wanted to tip 4 euros for 61 euros because we really weren't satisfied with the service or the food. But that was probably not enough for the service person and so she told us that she couldn't accept tips when paying by card. I'm really disappointed because I have a lot of good childhood memories with this place. What a shame, just a shame!

Large family, Christmas dinner booked here because of the image. Our expectations were significantly tempered. I wanted fries with my €35 main course. "That's not possible. The festive online menu differs from the menu in the restaurant by up to 4 euros per dish. The dishes on the menu on site were a lot more expensive. I call that fraud. You have made a reservation and are there with x people. Pork schnitzel with fries instead of 18 for 22.90 euros.

Eher außergewöhnliche Kominationen. Einen eher schlechten Nudelsalat zum Salat serviert zu bekommen, muss man mögen. Bei einer Gruppe von 12 Personen war der erste mit dem Essen fertig, bevor der letzte sein Gericht hatte .

Super leckeres Essen (z.B. Wurstsalat, Ente, Schnitzel, Maultaschen, Gans ...), überwiegend eisiger Nachtisch, sehr nette Bedienung ... gerne wieder.

Trotz der vielen lobenden Worte habe ich eine kleine Kritik. Essen gut aber leider bei mir nur warm angekommen nicht heiß. Leider auch Portion zu klein. Und das Kräuterpüree war mit 1,5 Gramm Trockengewürz versetzt,ob das aus einem Kartoffelpüree ein Kräuterpüree macht?
