Super friendly service. They only use regional and fresh products, and you can taste it! Truly delicious food, all homemade and freshly prepared. Tastes like grandma's. And relatively inexpensive, too. We paid under €50 for venison goulash and rösti, plus two drinks. Highly recommended.

Authentic home-style cooking at reasonable prices

The food is so delicious. It's just like mom's and fresh. Locally sourced. I had a dream beef roulade with sweet apple red cabbage and homemade rösti. Good prices and very friendly and polite service. Dad is the chef and he likes to peek into the dining room. I like it. The only minor criticism is that the two tables by the kitchen don't have much charm. The tables on the steps are so nice and cozy, fantastic! We'll go again.

We ate at the Stadtschänke restaurant in Königstein. When paying, the waitress said that they only accept German bank cards. We had several types of bank cards (Hungarian, Dutch - visa, mastercard, etc.), we could not try to pay with any of them, they insisted on German cards or cash. We never have cash, we live in the 21st century. The waitress started threatening us with the police and filming us with her phone, as if we were criminals. We said okay, call the police, we will wait for them, since we want to pay. Of course, they did not want to call the police. After much discussion, we agreed on the transfer, my husband transferred the amount, which was not a company account, but someone's private account (I have proof of this). We did not receive a bill. I would like to ask the German tax authorities how this works in Germany. It's outrageous that a hospitality provider can afford this today. I've never had a more unpleasant experience with a provider. PS: you can eat the worst French fries in the world here.

They do not accept Mastercard or Visa (debit or credit) card. They ask germany card even for tourists.

Found this amazing place by accident. The owner was in the kitchen and his daughter was waiting tables. Incredible family friendly run business with tremendous and authentic German cuisine. We had schnitzel with chanterelle cream sauce, schnitzel with paprika sauce, and chicken cordon bleu. It’s impossible to say which one was the best because they were all outstanding. I travel the world and dine in many countries. This is one of my new favorite restaurants in the entire world.

What I got to eat was the worst: schnitzel with fried potatoes and fresh Frankfurt green sauce. Schnitzel fried lightly and darkly, 2mm thick. Fried potatoes and a mini portion of frozen food. The Frankfurt green sauce was indefinable. This is the first time in my life that I've left food. The cleanliness of the restaurant could be improved considerably. It's a shame that something like this exists.

The atmosphere is super cute. It reminds me of a Viennese tavern a bit, but just generally very nice inside. We ordered the vegetarian Rösti and the asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The Rösti was good ( a little oily) and the asparagus was pretty good. The service was fast and nice but we were there during a non-busy time of day and week. The English menus seemed to be missing some info and food, so we stuck with the German ones anyways which were fine. Decent prices as well.

Our food was really tasty, my wife's salad was OK, but it was because of the dressing that she didn't really like. Otherwise we had schnitzel with green sauce (homemade) and schnitzel with asparagus and hollandaise sauce. Both were a perfect A, really tasty, we'd love to come back.

It's centrally located in the pedestrian zone, quite cozy inside, but the food is subpar. Under the title in the menu: "We like to eat", grilled bratwurst with sauerkraut and fried potatoes was ordered. The sausage was pale and fatty, the sauerkraut had no taste, the fried potatoes were musty. It's a shame about the money, we were happy to be out again.

Der Service war supernett. Bei der Bestellung gab es einen kleinen Fehler (Sauce Hollandaise anstatt zerlassene Butter zum Spargel), der sofort freundlich korrigiert wurde. Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Der einzige Punkt, den wir abziehen, ist die Portionsgröße. Da geht noch ein bissl mehr ;-) Aber ansonsten hatten wir einen schönen Abend und können die Stadtschänke uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

This is a cozy German restaurant. Reservations are recommended as this is quite a small place. The waiter was very friendly although he didn’t speak English and we managed to order and get very tasty dishes. Please note that they only accept local German credit cards or cash!

Been here for the first time. Small restaurant that could do more with the ambience. The food was good. We had cordon bleu. The only thing that didn't fit was the grated cheese in it. We liked the side salad so much that we ordered another one straight away. The service was super nice. Do something with the seating! Garden table and chairs don't fit well. You could get more out of the small shop.

The restaurant offers tasty German cuisine – the schnitzel with chanterelles, liver, and steak are particularly worth recommending, all well-prepared. A big plus is the ability to pay by card. Unfortunately, the decor and cleanliness of the place leave much to be desired.

We had lunch today at this wonderful restaurant. Let me start with the very nice waiter who welcomed us warmly. Then we chose dishes that exceeded our wildest expectations. First and definitely last time here! I wonder where the beautiful pictures here come from... I've rarely eaten so badly! Unfortunately, the schnitzel with a soggy crust was sickening, the fried potatoes that had already been bought and simply warmed up had a terrible and disgusting taste. The sausage one of us ordered...what can I say? You wouldn't have needed teeth to eat them. Very bad experience.

Really a very interesting restaurant with old furnishings. Very friendly staff and the food was great, the waiting time for the food was really outstanding, about 10-15 minutes for two dishes, the dessert was okay but I probably wouldn't recommend it. The toilets are not good and very small. As well as the sign that only EC cards are accepted is missing. But still definitely recommended

Love this place! Have been going here to eat for well over a decade. This is family operated business & they are super lovely people, the service is friendly & fast! There's a lot of traditional German food on the menu & everything is fresh with a home cooked vibe. The dunkle bier & Aperol Spritz are divine!😍 The atmosphere is super cozy & we always strike up nice conversations. In nice weather you can sit outside which is a nice option when you are dining with children or bringing your dog with you. I can't recommend this place enough!

A very nice, rustic half-timbered house with a small restaurant where you can eat like you would at "Mom's". The service was super friendly and accommodating. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The Aperol was tasty but different than usual. We would come back.

You can sit very comfortably in the Stadtschänke. The waitresses are incredibly friendly and attentive. No long waiting times for drinks and food. The schnitzel and especially the green sauce tasted incredibly delicious. Totally recommended. We were very well fed. Gladly again.

Were there on Sunday. Good prices and today are advertised in front of the restaurant. When it came to the bill, the dishes were €5 more expensive each. Peasant trapping!! Answer from the landlord these are weekday prices. Then the signs don't belong in front of the restaurant on Sunday. We're not coming back!?

If you've come back from a hike and are really hungry for good German home cooking, this is the place for you. That's how it was with us, and we were warmly welcomed in the rustic restaurant in an old half-timbered house, run by a family. Everything here is honestly cooked in-house, nothing tastes like it's pre-packaged. The liver dumpling soup as it should be with a heavy dumpling; the beef roulade filled with good bacon, cucumber, leaves, onions, mustard and rolled with good meat; and if you're really hungry: the Burgherrenpfanne - where fillets of pork, poultry and beef (to the point) with fried potatoes are actually prepared together in one pan and served in the hot pan. Then coma, or apricot schnapps. Ambiente is not a 5-star restaurant, you shouldn't judge an ambience by that, but a historic, tidy, well-run restaurant in which you feel very comfortable.

On-site prices do not match those online. Sometimes there is no side salad despite the significantly higher prices. The reserved table was given away and we had to wait a long time until it became free. It was okay.

Kleines, feines und uriges Restaurant . super netter Service. Essen 🔝 alles frisch zubereitet. Das Essen kam mega schnell. Wir hatten Kartoffelklöße mit Waldpilzen. Lecker lecker. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Also das hier ist T O P. Klein aber Fein. Einen solch aufmerksamen Service hatte ich schon lange nicht mehr. In der Gaststätte finden etwa 20 Personen Platz. Am Tresen kann man Sitzen aber nicht stehen. Das Essen aus einer vorbildlichen Küche kommt auch bei guter Auslastung Recht zügig. Wir hatten Sauerbraten mit Klößen und Pfifferlinge mit Klößen. Sehr Gut beides. Komme nochmal vorbei.....

Die Kalbsleber war prima, Roulade für meinen Geschmack bisl fad. Aber das ist Geschmacksache. Portionen sind absolut in Ordnung und Preise auch ok.

Kleine, gemütliche Gaststätte mit sehr lieben Personal. Im Sommer kann man draußen sitzen, aber dann können einem die Leute die auf der Fußgängerzone flanieren, auf die Teller schauen. (Nur falls es einen stören sollte) Die Gaststätte ist schön im Altstadtkern gelegen und viele diverse andere Geschäfte sind nebenan, bzw. in der gesamten Umgebung. Parkplätze gibt es dort keine. Nur ein Parkhaus und weiter oben einen Parkplatz. Ist halt eine Fußgängerzone. 😉 Für Rollstuhlfahrer nicht geeignet, es sei denn, sie kommen im Sommer und wollen draußen sitzen. Das Essen war gut und das Personal sehr lieb, höflich und man musste nur wenige Minuten warten um zu bezahlen. (Bei uns war es aber auch nicht sehr voll) Da es recht klein ist und wer dort Essen und/oder trinken möchte, sollte besser reservieren. Die Preise waren okay. Ich glaube ca 18 Euro für ein Schnitzel mit Pfifferlingen bezahlt zu haben. Einziger Kritikpunkt, es hätte schon mehr Soße dabei sein können. 😉 Es war nur ein kleiner Klecks Soße, der gerade mal für das halbe Schnitzel gereicht hat. Und ich esse gerne auch meine Kartoffeln oder Pommes gerne mit Soße. Aber, wenn er/sie mehr drauf machen, gibt es bestimmt Leute die das wiederum bemängeln würden. Ich hätte ja auch fragen können ob ich etwas mehr bekommen kann. Hab ich nicht. Also meine Schuld. 😊 Da ich/wir das erste mal da waren, wissen wir nicht was für ein Publikum dort verkehrt. Durch die geringe Größe und wenn sich da eine kleine Männerrunde zum abendlichen Umtrunk trifft, könnte es, so denke ich mir, etwas laut werden. Aber dies nur am Rande, für die Menschen die keine gutgelaunten Gäste an ihrem Nachbartisch vertragen können. 😉 Schönen Tag euch allen und lasst ein "Hilfreich" für mich da. 👍 Dankeschön.

Da sich anscheinend alle Restaurants in Königstein abgesprochen haben, Montags Ruhetag zu haben, sind wir spontan in die Stadtschänke eingekehrt, die am Dienstag ihren Ruhetag hat. Dafür wird man hier mit einem rustikalen Ambiente, einer sehr freundlichen Bedienung und hervorragenden Essen belohnt. Es lohnt also das nächste Mal gleich hier den Tisch zu reservieren.

Der Service war in Ordnung. Das Pfifferlinggericht bestand aus allem, nur nicht aus Pfifferlingen. Geschmacklich auch eher durchschnittlich. Gefragt, ob es geschmeckt hat, wurde man nicht.

Da seid ihr hier genau richtig Immer frisch, selbst gemacht und super lecker Die Spargel Suppe lässt echt zu wünschen übrig schmeckt leider absolut nicht nach Spargel ohne Stücke und sehr sahnig und süß Ansonsten ist die komplette Speisekarte sehr zu empfehlen und wirklich super lecker !!!!

Die Speisekarte im Internet ist nicht mehr aktuell, die Preise sind deutlich höher - dafür fällt der Beilagensalat weg. Qualität in Ordnung, Portionen sehr übersichtlich. Weinschorle wird jetzt im 0,2l Weinglas serviert - für stolze 4,90€

Ich war 2 oder 3 mal dort und kann es nur weiter empfehlen ich war in der Reha Im Taunusstein KVB dort komme aus köln und ich werde euch nochmals besuchen kommen weiter so top Lage top Essen top Service

Wie gesehen, bei dein Lokal, mein Lokal, alles perfekt. Super Bedienung. Das Essen war nach 10 Minuten am Tisch. Die Portionen waren genau richtig. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Ich war heute zur Mittagszeit als Einzelperson mit Krücken in dem Restaurant und hätte mich gerne an einen größeren Tisch gesetzt um mein operiertes Bein hochlegen zu können. Der klatzköpfige Kellner verwies mich unfreundlich an einen anderen 4er Tisch mit der Bemerkung hier wäre kein Hotel und dort könne man die Tische auseinander ziehen. Warum das nicht an dem von mir gewählten Tisch nicht möglich ist, blieb unbeantwortet. Mega unfreundlich und nicht empfehlenswert! Anschließend war ich im Restaurant am Kurpark wo ich sehr zuvorkommend empfangen wurde und ein hervorragendes Essen bekam. Gerne wieder.

Nach einem Besuch im Opel Zoo mit vier Personen eingekehrt und sehr gut gegessen und gesessen. Einfache sehr gute Küche.

Wir waren abends da. Restaurant gut gefüllt, stressfreie Coronakontrolle, ohne Reservierung Tisch bekommen, freundlicher und flotter Service, leckeres Essen: Schnitzel und Roulade. Letztere hatte ohne Hinweis Rotkraut statt Rosenkohl. Egal, fängt beides mit Ro…. an. War trotzdem lecker und alles hat gepasst. Die Gäste drumherum waren auch glücklich. Also: Empfehlung.
