This was a good place until now. Unfortunately, the service and the quality of the food have declined significantly the last two times. This time, and also the last time, the wrong menu was served. One waitress smoked while serving. I won't be coming again.

I stopped by on a Tuesday around 2:30 p.m., and the tables inside and outside were all very well occupied, thanks to the lighting. The various dishes on the guests' plates all looked good. So, I sat down at a small table. Friendly service brought the menu fairly quickly. There was a good selection. Drinks came quickly. The food also came fairly quickly. The side salad was varied and very tasty. The main courses were generously sized and tasted good. All in all, a good price-value for this location.

Three of us ate at Speckwirt and were thoroughly satisfied. The service was friendly and attentive, and they constantly asked if everything was to our satisfaction. The atmosphere at Speckwirt is truly inviting and cozy. The terrace is particularly lovely, a great place to sit and eat. The location on the lower market square is central, and the restaurant is well-frequented. Reservations are definitely recommended to ensure a table. We'd be happy to come back.

I've been there several times, but yesterday's visit literally saved my life. After visiting the garden show, where there's hardly any shade but 8 km of long paths, I relaxed with a crisply served Alpirsbacher beer on tap. I mean, they offer friendly, well-organized service, a shady outdoor area, and good food at reasonable prices. We'll be back!

Good food at reasonable prices. A very open and spacious restaurant. Due to the space, it's quite loud and not ideal for quiet conversations when there are several guests in the area. However, it's perfectly suitable for regulars' get-togethers or company parties.

The Speckwirt has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Freudenstadt and the surrounding area. A visit to this restaurant is a special treat for us on every short break in the region and an integral part of our itinerary. Everything we tried – be it currywurst, sausage salad, cheese spaetzle, fresh salads, hearty schnitzel, tender fish, a ham platter, or a delicious "Pfännle" (a dish of fried fish) – was consistently delicious. No less important is the fact that the host's hospitality and the attentive and friendly service of the service team make every visit a pleasant experience. A clear recommendation from us.

We ate at Speckwirt yesterday and were disappointed. We had the Swabian pan with cheese spaetzle. It's a truly rustic pan-fried dish. A plate of ready-made spaetzle arrived. Very mushy—not even the fried onions were crispy, they were mushy. Two pieces of sirloin were good, and they came with a ready-made sauce with a few mushrooms. The spaetzle were absolutely tasteless—my husband had schnitzel with fries and gravy. Two small schnitzels were very reminiscent of ready-made schnitzels. We were actually convinced that if it said "Swabian cuisine" on it, you'd get good Swabian cuisine. We were finished within 20 minutes. Oh well...

The Speckwirt in Freudenstadt on the market square is an absolute recommendation when it comes to Swabian cuisine. The restaurant presents itself in the good Swabian tradition and has friendly and, above all, fast staff. Our food arrived 5 minutes after we ordered. The prices are absolutely fine when you consider the location, others charge more. The menu mainly specializes in Swabian dishes such as Maultaschen, onion roast and cheese spaetzle. The portions are really big, everyone gets enough here. However, the restaurant is only recommended to a limited extent for vegetarians and vegans. Although there are vegetarian dishes, visitors should be aware that the Speckwirt also smells strongly of bacon and fried meat. If you have a problem with this, you might be in the wrong place here. Next to the restaurant there is also a shop for Swabian souvenirs. All in all, a top recommendation, especially for visitors to the Black Forest who have less contact with Swabian food at home.

Traditional Swabian cuisine. A side salad as it should be: each type seasoned well for you. But the potato salad was the real deal: to die for. I originally wanted Maultaschen with potato salad, but then decided on the delicious roast beef. After the salad I knew this was a mistake.

While strolling through one of the largest market squares, we stopped at the Speckwirt twice. A rustic restaurant with a good price/performance ratio! On our first visit, the waitress took our order rather unfriendlyly without greeting us. But the tarte flambée was great and she was probably a bit annoyed shortly before the shift change. The next day around lunchtime we actually wanted to do something different, but stopped here again. Even though it was very busy, we received friendly and quick service. The food was plentiful and good. We can happily recommend the Speckwirt...

The service was very friendly and I liked the atmosphere. I ordered roast beef - the meat was fine and the mixed salad was very good. Unfortunately, the sauce and the spaetzle were not homemade, but only bought and heated, which detracted from the overall impression of the dish. I would have liked more quality from the kitchen here. Overall a mixed experience - with a little more attention to detail in the food it could really be great!

I wonder where all his good comments about the food come from. The salad was greasy. The dish was also greasy. I barely ate anything. The dessert seemed to buy at the supermarket. A tourist trap definitely didn't go there.

This evening we were invited to a birthday party at the Speckwirt. One of our guests had chewed gum in his salad, which he unnoticed put in his mouth on the fork with the salad and realized when chewing that it was not normal. When he spit it out, it was chewed gum. We were very disappointed and showed it to two waiters. We were not charged for the salad and main course. We were told that the boss knew, but he still didn't come to us and we received no apology or explanation from him. We often went to the Speckwirt for breakfast. After this event, I'll never come back.

We ordered the onion roast four times and the venison goulash once. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat was disappointing - the meat was very dry, which greatly affected the enjoyment. We had the roast roast returned, which was done without any problems. The second attempt was a little better, but unfortunately still a little dry. It's a shame, we had hoped for more.
