At lunchtime the two of us sat in the glass dome, which was heated, but it got quite cool after the sun disappeared behind the houses. It is probably pleasant if there are several people in the dome. The food took quite a long time to arrive even though there were only two other guests in the restaurant. The taste is quite good, but the rather high price is more justified by the ambience and location. Overall it was a great visit and I would like to come back, but in the evening with a larger group.

We came in a big group including a toddler and a dog and we had a fantastic time! The food was delicious, our waiter was very sweet and the view from the dome is fantastic. I agree, it could be warmer some of us were cold BUT just wear warm clothing ;-) I definitely would recommend this experience ❤️

Unfortunately our visit to this restaurant was a huge disappointment. From the start there were several problems that ruined our evening. The restaurant seemed completely unprepared. The food that was served was cold and tasteless. For the high price we paid, the quality of the food was unacceptable. We could barely eat any of it and felt like we had wasted our money. The atmosphere in the “Kugel” was anything but comfortable. It was very cold and drafty, which made the stay extremely uncomfortable. When we asked for a second heater "Unfortunately it's not possible" was shocking and shows a complete disregard for customer comfort.

The only real positive was the glass dome we were in which gave us a lovely and romantic atmosphere. Unfortunately however, despite there being a heater, the dome was a bit below room temperature which hindered out enjoyment a bit. The food was good but also not good enough to make us want to come again. And despite us being understanding of the situation, we were asked twice to switch tables due to miscommunication between staff members. I can recommend it simply for the dome you will get to spend your dinner in but not for anything else.

The food tasted okay, but was cold. We sat in a dome and it was cold outside. The food was carried through the cold on an open tray, so the tapas were cold...even the red wine was served ice cold. We complained about it, but nothing happened. There was a single tea light on our table, which was empty. When asked about a new tea light, the answer was that they no longer had any. Something like that doesn't work at all. With 3 tables in a dome, there is only one table lamp on one table. The other two tables only had a glass with a tea light, which were empty. At these prices you can probably expect that there will be enough candles available. Conclusion: Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio does not match here. Too bad! ☹️

We were in this restaurant yesterday and were not satisfied😔, the food was lukewarm to cold, after we told the waiter about this, there was only one (sorry, I'll pass it on) table lighting, which our waiter couldn't organize and as if that wasn't enough, the red wine was also ice cold! What has to be said, however, is that you printed and calculated the invoice without any errors! 😡 The taste of the food was ok but not great for €111.00 for 2 people, we would have expected much more! 👎👎 The restaurant will definitely get a second chance!

Great service, intimate rooms with heating, right on the water with Hamburg's sights with fantastic light. Ducks swam past you. We were there with 5 people and will be back... The glass domes create a unique ambience. Cozy and homely atmosphere. A wonderful experience.

It was fantastic. I can't describe this experience more in words. The employees were super friendly. I reserved a private dome so I could prevent other guests from coming in. Of course the price changes but it was 100% worth it. I give more than 5 stars for everything 💪By the way, the dome is very heated. In winter you have a wonderful view from the dome. One could reserve the dome for every entry, proposal, bday etc. To all employees, great job and super nice service.

Most beautiful evening! I had previously announced that it was a wedding day. There was an incredibly loving decoration that awaited us: a small red carpet to the pavilion, red rose petals all over the table. At least 20-30 balloons were inflated and hung on the walls, romantic lighting mood, flowers and candles. In all the years we have never experienced anything like this. We only got one place because a super nice family let us into the igloo even though they had booked it for themselves. Unfortunately, service was extremely catastrophic, the waiter always dropped something and got a guest's scarf at the neighboring table. Unfortunately, the waiter didn't really speak German well, so he didn't really understand us. Our food was “swapped” and placed on the table next to us. It was noticed after 10 minutes and then he simply moved it from the other table onto our table because “it hadn’t been touched”. That's simply not possible in the catering industry. We didn't get a real apology or statement that remaking the food wasn't an option from the restaurant. Food was high quality and tasty, but cold because it just sat around for 10 minutes and then was pushed back and forth. When we had finished eating we were thrown out in a really rude manner because the table had to be reoccupied. Unfortunately no recommendation at all, price performance is not justified and is definitely not worth the hype.

In winter there is significantly less going on here. The food is still recommended and the small glass domes are heated if necessary.

Nice idea for the colder seasons with the glass igloos. We were given a very friendly welcome, had excellent food and even the limoncello, which had just been purchased at the time of our order, was brought to us without being asked, even though we had already ordered an alternative. Very attentive and hospitable. I would have liked some music to add to the ambience, perhaps as a stimulus. Nevertheless, it was absolutely recommended and we would be happy to come back.

We sat in one of the little houses right by the water in the evening and were very happy! The room was cozy and sitting right by the water in winter is a little highlight! The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and the portions were nice and big (reasonable for the price) All in all a nice birthday evening, we'll be back!

The staircase isn't lit enough, there's dripping from the ceiling in the toilet, it was cool in the glass dome despite the fan heater, there was too much couscous and too few vegetables in the food and there was no hierbas. The ambience is particularly nice and the food tasted good! The prices are high and the minimum consumption is sporty!

We were a group of eight women and had a fantastic evening that we will remember for a long time. From start to finish everything was great! A special thank you goes to Zahra, who served us with her warm and attentive manner. She not only made sure that we felt completely comfortable, but also fulfilled every wish with a smile. The 2 young men were also very nice and attentive. The food was delicious. Every course was a delight, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that transported us straight to Spain. The ambience was also a dream! Our igloo was cozy, stylishly decorated and offered the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. We were only missing a second heater as it was very cool and there was some relaxed Spanish music in the background! We would have liked to have stayed longer because we felt very comfortable. Unfortunately we had to leave the igloo after 2 hours. Nevertheless, the evening was wonderful. We will definitely come back to repeat this beautiful experience! The Spanish Steps Restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food, great hospitality and a unique ambience!

The two of us were here for Christmas. Very nicely located right on the water in one of the domes. The service was great and the food was good, our first time with tapas, but it didn't leave us wanting “more”. The price/performance ratio wasn't quite right in terms of the food, hence only 4 stars.

We found the idea of ​​dining in a glass dome on the Alster in winter very tempting. The staff were extremely attentive and we really enjoyed the food itself. All in all a great experience, we will definitely come back to you soon in the future!!!

Die Iglus sind viel zu kalt. Wir waren zu fünft und haben uns den A... abgefroren. Ein kleiner Heizlüfter pro Iglu ist einfach zu wenig. Sieht alles schön aus, Essen war gut, aber auch schnell kalt und mit Eisfüßen einfach kein Genuß und dafür ganz schön teuer. Bei Außentemperaturen unter 8 Grad nicht zu empfehlen. Am Ende stellte sich dann noch heraus, dass die EC-Kartenzahlung nicht funktioniert. Sorry, da ist noch viel Luft nach oben.

An absolute must, especially for drinks in summer!

The food was very good, that much in advance. But the igloos are not hot enough. When it's -3 degrees outside, you're extremely cold in the igloos, despite blankets and fan heaters. The feet were also extremely cold. The igloos are not insulated at the bottom and are located on a wooden terrace with water underneath. This aspect ended the evening prematurely. The food didn't stay warm on the table long enough because of the cold.

The food was very good, I would like to come back for that. The service was a shame - on the day of the reservation I not only received one email regarding the minimum consumption value, but three. It would be nice if it were perhaps on the website itself. This was repeated again on site - I celebrated my birthday and you don't have to mention something like that in front of my guests, especially since the three emails have already made it clear to me. Instead of 8 people there were only 6 of us - this was criticized because there is a minimum consumption value but we kindly only have to pay for 6 instead of the minimum value for 8 - thank you?. And we wouldn't have gotten an igloo for 6, but they are only available from 8 - I was told by phone that from 6 people you have your own igloo and on the website it also says from 6 people. We had reserved the table from 3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The waitress came at 5:30 p.m. and informed us that she was already preparing the bill because the next guests were coming at 6:00 p.m. At 5:45 p.m. two waitresses came and asked us to leave because the next ones were already there. Other restaurants have a timeslot for something like this. We couldn't put our jackets on in peace anymore because the two waiters had already cleared the entire table. When I paid, I consciously didn't want to leave a tip, but the change wasn't given back to me and I wasn't asked if I would get anything back. My point here is the principle - the few unwanted tips bother me less. It was very cold in the glass igloo. I hope it was just a one-time experience and next time it will be better. You can park nearby with a parking permit

First of all: The food was really great and the lady in service was also very helpful. Unfortunately, the rest of the service staff didn't make as much of an effort. It was really bitterly cold in our crystal ball. There weren't enough blankets for all the guests and the small fan heater was tried, but in the end it didn't help. We waited a total of an hour for our food. You shouldn't take a closer look at the toilets either, as white fur is already forming on the walls. It was definitely an experience, but we won't repeat it.

We were interested in the new glass houses. We saw that there were round tables inside. We also found this fact to be an advantage for a group of 7 people. Unfortunately we were given a square table. The reservation went without any problems. A day before visiting the restaurant, I gave the number of people and confirmation of our reservation by telephone. On the day of the reservation I received at least 3 emails asking me to please confirm my reservation. Then I got a call too. I didn't like that at all. At the end there was another email saying that the restaurant requires a minimum turnover of €39 per person. The restaurant seems to be under pressure for sales. Obviously the service has the task of being active at this point. Although we had generated a much larger turnover, we didn't like the fact that the service here was so friendly. That ended up ruining our evening with dessert. We ordered the dessert variation for 2 and wanted to eat it for three. Our waiter told us he would also give us a Dubai cheesecake. We specifically said that we didn't want to pay any more for dessert. In the end this cheesecake was added to the bill, which is not okay at all. In addition, the dessert and especially the cheesecake didn't convince us either. Positive: We enjoyed the food. Our Pinot Gris was also good. Negative: The house didn't get warm with a radiator. We didn't like the dessert variation and the whole situation with the sales pressure. The questions with the reservation confirmation and the many emails are unreasonable. The food was served way too late for a two hour time slot. Conclusion: We don't necessarily have to come back.

They covered the food with their jackets and transported it through the rain without any covering. Unfortunately, when you look at the food you can see and taste that it is microwave-warmed food. Apart from that, the prices are far too overpriced for the unfortunately (poor) “quality”. (We had tapas and eat them often. Unfortunately the chicken was lukewarm and tough.) We reserved a table and got it quite quickly, but due to the weather it was very difficult to reach the stairs and the wooden boards to the pavilions when there was a huge risk of slipping. Ultimately our conclusion is that the location is really nice even in winter. We were very lucky with the different people in our pavilion and it was very fun. However, with the temperatures outside, just having a small fan was far too little and it was very, very cold and the thin blankets didn't help. The menu is divided into starters, main courses and tapas; it's only bad if everything comes at the same time. The tapas are only averagely warm and of course they cool down further as they travel to the pavilions until they reach the guest, so most of the food was already cold when it arrived. It was only when we brought it that we were told that one starter was no longer there (serano ham). As I said, everything came together and some of it was so cold that you couldn't eat it anymore. What was warm was also tasty but the price-performance ratio is questionable, we really like to eat well and of high quality but the prices for what you get are clearly too high. The waiters try to be friendly, but you look in vain for a smile. Nightcaps are no longer available and once you've paid, no one comes, even if we wanted to have a drink in a relaxed atmosphere. Even a phone call didn't matter at all. Customer orientation and service definitely need to be improved.

We celebrated New Year's Eve with friends in the Spanish Steps. Very nicely located on the Alster, the ambience is wonderful. Food excellent, there was a New Year's Eve menu. Value for money for the quality of the food and preparation. Staff very friendly and funny. It was a wonderful evening all around.

The waiter was very pushy and asked very frequently throughout the entire visit whether everything was OK or whether you would like to order more. Igloo not preheated, so initially very “fresh” atmosphere. “Baked” foods are actually fried in breading that is far too thick. Gambas in oil only hot and without seasoning, therefore quite tasteless. The invited guests were quite happy with everything, in contrast to the invitees who had expected more from the visit and were very disappointed.

A popular hotspot in summer for a sundowner with a view of the Alster. In winter, the restaurant now also offers heated glass balls on the terrace, which can be reserved for groups of six or more people. However, a minimum consumption of €39 per person is required - a fairly high amount. Although the prices are also higher, it is a little easier to reach the minimum consumption, but you still have to order around three tapas and an expensive drink. Another problem is that this minimum consumption excludes people who want to join a group but are not willing or able to spend €40. As a result, the restaurant foregoes additional sales that would fall below €40. A better solution would be a minimum consumption per glass ball rather than per person. The food is average and there is not a single vegetarian main course. There are some vegetarian tapas but vegan is very difficult. As I recall, the bread is charged extra, but even if it isn't, it's well below average. Exactly one small slice is served per person, which is far too little. The aioli is also not convincing in terms of taste. The Crème Catalana also had a strange taste. Service was fine, but could be more attentive - especially since the reservation window is limited to two hours. We also specifically asked whether the ice cream on the mixed dessert platter was vanilla ice cream. This was confirmed, but what was served instead was a decidedly poor quality pistachio ice cream. Conclusion: Price-performance ratio is not right, even considering the beautiful ambience.

We also received a message a few hours in advance that due to technical problems only cash payment was possible. In connection with the impressions of the last few weeks described here, we then canceled the reservation.

Good day, I already see several comments here regarding the food!!! I was there with a birthday on December 23rd, 2024, 6-8:30 p.m. in the evening and actually had a nice evening, until I haven't been feeling well since then - this lasted until yesterday evening, I have to mention that too I'm PREGNANT and I got massive cramps and threw up at home without stopping. I went to the hospital immediately afterwards and they were able to confirm that it was food poisoning!!! Unfortunately I'm still not feeling well, My friends are currently on site and are being treated. This shop should urgently be checked and closed by the health department, the hygiene measures are definitely not being observed here!!!

Danger! We generally had a very nice evening in this restaurant, the food was good but nothing more than that. Unfortunately, the staff don't seem to value hygiene etc. too much. That same evening I had food poisoning like I had never experienced in my life, I had bouts of fever, chills and I couldn't even keep down a glass of water. Since I only ate in the restaurant that day, I can only have caught it there. So if you don't want to risk going to the hospital after eating, you should give this a wide berth.

Unfortunately all tapas were only served at room temperature. Some of the meat was tough and didn't taste freshly prepared. Maybe that's why there are 4 microwaves in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the fan heater is far too weak and you freeze in the capsules. The toilets are also super cold and there is only cold tap water. Service was very nice. But in terms of the food, the price-performance ratio is not right at all, so a clear non-recommendation. PS: everyone who ate meat had severe gastrointestinal problems afterwards. At the beginning we were nicely informed that there was a minimum consumption of €39 per person and that we had to vacate the table in 2 hours. Of course they did that and came in with the bill 20 minutes beforehand. We had to work out ourselves who would pay what. The gentleman leaves the dome without comment. Coincidentally, the cash machine is always broken. The toilets are full of cobwebs and the water is ice cold. The food is mediocre. But 4 out of 6 people had such severe gastrointestinal problems that we had to call 116 117 at night. We will definitely refrain from visiting again. The ambience in the dome is beautiful and warm.

The location is really something special and the service was also good. Unfortunately, the food was only average for the price...There are better tapas shops in Hamburg.

Every couple has to go there once

It is way too cold in the bubbles in the winter! The heater they have it's way too small for the size of the bubble. I had to eat with two blankets on me! Also because the heater was so small the walls of the bubble were constantly foggy and one couldn't see anything outside! :( it completely defeats the purpose. We were disappointed

The ambience is actually relatively nice, as it is located right on the water and you have a view of the upcoming Outer Alster. Unfortunately it was relatively loud (but there was also a lot going on). The reservation was uncomplicated, but is also highly recommended. Overall a nice location, food was okay. Unfortunately not enough garlic for tapas (there was no aioli). It was busy, but service was still great. The price is a bit higher (Aperol Spritz for 11 euros), but that's to be expected given the exceptional location.

We had a lovely evening in the glass domes. These were heated and there were enough blankets for everyone with chilblains. We ordered mixed tapas for 5 people. When we couldn't place the meat, we realized that we hadn't ordered the lamb (we had already tried it). We then complained about that, which the waiter found strange since we had already eaten it. It has to be said that the meat didn't really taste like lamb and when 5 people eat 13 different dishes, you can quickly lose track of what was ordered. But since we had written everything down on our cell phones to order, we were able to understand it; it was actually one dish too many. In addition, a small apple spritzer was ordered, but when it came in a large size, there was simply no response to the request. I took it anyway. The Creme Catalana was completely burnt and unfortunately inedible. Plus point, we were charged for the wrong dish (€16) and not for the cream. Even if everything didn't go smoothly, the food was overall very tasty, but perhaps slightly too expensive for the price. Nevertheless, we had a lovely evening in the glass dome, which is why we give it 4 stars.

It was my wife's birthday, she really loved the atmosphere, it was also her first time trying spanish food and she loved it. The location is very attractive and romantic specially the iglo shaped warm spots

You can hardly give enough stars for the ambience, but we would have liked some music. The service was also a dream! The food itself was unfortunately very tasteless and unspectacular - and simply too expensive! All around very special and unique!

I was shocked, cheap sparkling wine was sold for €50, tapas were soaked in oil and greasy, service was not attentive. The igloo was carelessly designed. In the end we paid €50 per person. Never again!

I am very positively surprised by the store. The nice waitress Zara was very friendly and beautiful, good food and the ambience is really very convincing. I can only recommend it to everyone.

First of all: The igloos at this location really have potential. Now comes the big but: The service is underground. You can tell that these people have no experience in gastronomy and have apparently never been their own guests. The waiting times are long, questions are not really answered, no one asks whether everything was satisfactory and there is not much communication with the guest even when it comes to the bill. The food is bad, the portions are tiny and the prices are really outrageous! In addition, there are overpriced cheap sparkling wine and average wines. Better eat somewhere else, even if you like the igloos or the view - this is a complete rip-off.

Service is bad, it has nothing to do with Spanish tapas, the igloos are nice but the little heater doesn't help at all! NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Everything was fine, just the waiting time at the beginning, We waited over 30 minutes to get our drinks.

Overall, the location is really beautiful in terms of ambience. However, it was way too cold for us (hence the two star deduction). Not only in the domes but also when you had to go to the toilet the toilet was super super cold. So we stayed for less than an hour because we just couldn't take it anymore. The service is great and also super friendly. We found the food to be rather mediocre, so we definitely expected more. Conclusion: Great location with upward potential

We were there on Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday. To get to the igloo you had to be very careful not to fall because it was incredibly slippery. We had to wait 10 minutes for the menus and then only got one and another 5 minutes later when we asked again, we got the second one. We sat at the door in the igloo and it was very drafty so we asked the waiter for a blanket. Nobody cared about it again!!! It wasn't until I came out and complained that they responded. Unfortunately, the guests are not taken seriously in the restaurant. The food looked delicious but when you ate it it wasn't tasty at all!!! Way too oily and greasy. Prices are way too overpriced and the biggest shame is the minimum consumption of €39 per person. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all and after the visit my girlfriend and I were no longer feeling well and our stomachs were going crazy. A very nice evening with delicious food. What could be improved would perhaps be a heater in the reception area for the waiting guests. Otherwise very nice!
