Spanische Treppe in Hamburg

The six of us visited the Spanish Steps and rented a dome. At the beginning we were nicely informed that there was a minimum consumption of €39 per person and that we had to vacate the table in 2 hours. Of course they did that and came in with the bill 20 minutes beforehand. We had to work out ourselves who would pay what. The gentleman leaves the dome without comment. Coincidentally, the cash machine is always broken. The toilets are full of cobwebs and the water is ice cold. The food is mediocre. But 4 out of 6 people had such severe gastrointestinal problems that we had to call 116 117 at night. We will definitely refrain from visiting again. The ambience in the dome is beautiful and warm.

The location is really something special and the service was also good. Unfortunately, the food was only average for the price...There are better tapas shops in Hamburg.

It is way too cold in the bubbles in the winter! The heater they have it's way too small for the size of the bubble. I had to eat with two blankets on me! Also because the heater was so small the walls of the bubble were constantly foggy and one couldn't see anything outside! :( it completely defeats the purpose. We were disappointed

The ambience is actually relatively nice, as it is right on the water and you have a view of the upcoming Outer Alster. Unfortunately it was relatively loud (but there was also a lot going on). The reservation was uncomplicated, but is also highly recommended. Overall a nice location, food was okay. Unfortunately not enough garlic for tapas (there was no aioli). It was busy, but service was still great. The price is a bit higher (Aperol Spritz for 11 euros), but that's to be expected given the exceptional location.

A great idea with the igloos, very romantic. The food would have had to be hot, then it would have been even better and I think that when the outside temperature was 2/3 degrees or more, you would need another fan heater in the igloo. Otherwise everything was great

We had a lovely evening in the glass domes. These were heated and there were enough blankets for everyone with chilblains. We ordered mixed tapas for 5 people. When we couldn't place the meat, we realized that we hadn't ordered the lamb (we had already tried it). We then complained about that, which the waiter found strange since we had already eaten it. It has to be said that the meat didn't really taste like lamb and when 5 people eat 13 different dishes, you can quickly lose track of what was ordered. But since we had written everything down on our cell phones to order, we were able to understand it; it was actually one dish too many. In addition, a small apple spritzer was ordered, but when it came in a large size, there was simply no response to the request. I took it anyway. The Creme Catalana was completely burnt and unfortunately inedible. Plus point, we were charged for the wrong dish (€16) and not for the cream. Even if everything didn't go smoothly, the food was overall very tasty, but perhaps slightly too expensive for the price. Nevertheless, we had a lovely evening in the glass dome, which is why we give it 4 stars.

It's a great restaurant :) The shrimps are particularly popular. Come by and just enjoy. Life is too short not to eat at Spanish Steps. :)

You can hardly give enough stars for the ambience, but we would have liked some music. The service was also a dream! The food itself was unfortunately very tasteless and unspectacular - and simply too expensive! All around very special and unique!

I was shocked, cheap sparkling wine was sold for €50, tapas were soaked in oil and greasy, service was not attentive. The igloo was carelessly designed. In the end we paid €50 per person. Never again!

I am very positively surprised by the store. The nice waitress Zara was very friendly and beautiful, good food and the ambience is really very convincing. I can only recommend it to everyone.

First of all: The igloos at this location really have potential. Now comes the big but: The service is underground. You can tell that these people have no experience in gastronomy and have apparently never been their own guests. The waiting times are long, questions are not really answered, no one asks whether everything was satisfactory and there is not much communication with the guest even when it comes to the bill. The food is bad, the portions are tiny and the prices are really outrageous! In addition, there are overpriced cheap sparkling wine and average wines. Better eat somewhere else, even if you like the igloos or the view - this is a complete rip-off.

Service is bad, it has nothing to do with Spanish tapas, the igloos are nice but the little heater doesn't help at all! NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Everything was fine, just the waiting time at the beginning, We waited over 30 minutes to get our drinks.

Overall, the location is really beautiful in terms of ambience. However, it was way too cold for us (hence the two star deduction). Not only in the domes but also when you had to go to the toilet the toilet was super super cold. So we stayed for less than an hour because we just couldn't take it anymore. The service is great and also super friendly. We found the food to be rather mediocre, so we definitely expected more. Conclusion: Great location with upward potential

We were there on Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday. To get to the igloo you had to be very careful not to fall because it was incredibly slippery. We had to wait 10 minutes for the menus and then only got one and another 5 minutes later when we asked again, we got the second one. We sat at the door in the igloo and it was very drafty so we asked the waiter for a blanket. Nobody cared about it again!!! It wasn't until I came out and complained that they responded. Unfortunately, the guests are not taken seriously in the restaurant. The food looked delicious but when you ate it it wasn't tasty at all!!! Way too oily and greasy. Prices are way too overpriced and the biggest shame is the minimum consumption of €39 per person. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all and after the visit my girlfriend and I were no longer feeling well and our stomachs were going crazy. In the first photo you can see the food and in the second photo you can see how much oil is in there!!!

The heated, closed igloos are a great idea for dining comfortably even on cold and/or rainy days in this beautiful place on the Alster river with a view of the city of Hamburg on the Alster. We ate very tasty tapas. The service was very good. We will definitely come back.

We were there to eat at lunchtime in the pouring rain and yet the outside temperatures were a little cooler. Unfortunately, there was no comfort due to the lack of heat (the very small heater unfortunately couldn't warm the igloo sufficiently). The service staff was very friendly and tried hard. Unfortunately I have to say that that wasn't enough to satisfy us. We were the only guests at the time and had to wait almost an hour for the food, which was explained by the fact that the cook only started work at 12 p.m. and that the stove was broken?? The dishes delivered - whereby the goat cheese, which was intended as a starter, was brought together with the main course and was therefore already cold - were quite tasteless. The baby calamari was swimming in the oil and was still lying across the stomach hours later. As compensation for the long wait, we were offered a coffee on the house. I had a cappucchino that was ok. my companion had a Café Crema, which had obviously been "refined" with alcohol. An absolute no go!

Food is good. Not perfect but good. Location in the small huts right on the water is great! Service is average. But their prices for the amount of food are really really REALLY steep. Tappas are expensive in themselves. But for 4 people, everyone is full but not full and everyone only eats 1! Drink for 220€. People 220€. That's too much, really!

This restaurant does not respect customers. Today was my birthday and my wife reserved a table. We had to be late and informed them about it. They said it was no problem, our table was reserved. When we arrived and finally got in after five minutes of waiting outside in the cold, they informed us that they had given the table to other guests. There is no respect for customers and no reliable organization. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

There were two points of criticism: We find it impossible to set a sales minimum. 2. The news that you can only pay by card came at 10:00, the table was booked for 12:00. That's too short notice. I hadn't read the message.

We were there in November so we sat under/in the domes. It was fantastic! The food is plentiful, the portions are more than sufficient (we ate tapas)! The staff is extremely helpful, very nice and attentive!

Ambience visually beautiful. Unfortunately far too cold. Waiters constantly leave the door open. Unfortunately there is a lack of expertise in both drinks and food. After two hours we had to leave the place with a bill of over 170 euros because the table had been given away again. Unfortunately our food was lukewarm, some cold. Service rather poor. Doesn't match the prices. Unfortunately the fan heater was very loud and there was no ambient music or anything like that. In addition, the corner on the jetty was very cramped.

Unfortunately we waited far too long for the food, some of which was cold. The service was shockingly inattentive - no questions were asked about any additional drinks or bread. And for a whopping €75 for two, we even went out to eat a burger in the neighborhood while we were still hungry. We haven't had anything like that before :D It's a shame on social media it's more appearance than reality.

Unfortunately, I felt nauseous after the visit. I also find it very cheeky that you have to have a minimum order value of €39 per person if you want to eat there. The service was mediocre, either you were lucky and someone came or you managed to wave at someone, except when they deliberately *didn't* look in our direction. In general not very attentive or interested in the service. And we found it very tiring to keep asking for bread. If you are a group of 8 people, just one bowl with 5 pieces of bread is not enough. All in all, a very subpar experience and absolutely not worth the money. Then come to the tapas restaurant in Klecken right next to the train station.

It's a shame that I was so disappointed. Great ambience with a romantic atmosphere, but the food is canteen level. Even the grilled olives weren't grilled. The dumplings were served cold and tasted stale. The lamb with plum jam was overcooked. Nice little things were also missing. The espresso is served without the accompanying biscuit. The salt and pepper shakers are dirty. And for these high prices. There is a definite need for trained management staff here.

The Spanish Steps offer tables in a glass dome, so the ambience is something completely new and special. The service person was very accommodating and recommended some tapas to us straight away. The food was more than successful. A highlight for me was the goat cheese with apple chutney.

Wir waren hier wegen den Glasiglus, die vom Restaurant in der Wintersaison auf dem Steg hingestellt werden. Das Ambiente dadurch ist sehr schön und definitiv ein Grund für kleine Gruppen bis 10 Personen dort einen Tisch zu reservieren. Man kann auch mit weniger Personen in die Iglus, aber dann sind natürlich noch andere Leute dabei. Wie in Spanien üblich gibt es eine Auswahl von Tapas in einem normalen Umfang. Die Qualität der Tapas ist gut. Von der Auswahl her sollte jeder etwas finden von vegetarisch über Fisch bis Fleisch. Die Auswahl ist aber eher Mainstream und nicht vergleichbar mit sehr guten authentischen Spaniern. Der Service hat leider etwas gehakelt, wir haben noch Tapas nachbestellt, diese kamen aber nur teilweise an. Der Nachbartisch musste die Rechnung zwei mal anfordern und bekam einen falschen Cocktail. Preislich lagen wir mit Tapas f. 4 Personen, Weinflasche bei 200€.

The location impresses with its location and the flair on the canal. When the weather is nice, you can sit on the stairs or in a deck chair and enjoy the sun with a view of the Alster. There are now also heated glass igloos on the terrace for the cooler season. A few days ago we wanted to try the restaurant for the first time for a family meal and were quite disappointed. The quality did not meet our expectations at all and the (high) price-performance ratio is not justified! The food arrived warm but not hot and was fried in bad/old oil. Conclusion: Everything is only half edible and overpriced, including the drinks prices!

We found this place just walking around Hamburg. The location is idyllic, you really relax looking at the water. Obviously as Spanish, the name caught our attention. The idea of ​​sitting comfortably on the stairs is simply great. There are cushions and small tables that make everything very comfortable. Good wine list, although a glass for €9 seemed a bit excessive to us. We also ate some meatballs that were delicious. It's worth being there when the weather is good.

Chic, stylish furnishings, friendly service, pleasant (and a bit bland) pop music - the Spanish Steps offers a nice ambience with a great location surrounded by trees right on the water. Of course you can hear a bit of car noise next to the road, but overall you still have peace and quiet. The taste of the food was definitely convincing, but the prices are quite high and do not directly reflect the portion size. Unfortunately there is no selection for vegans (we were offered fried potatoes without sauce). The vegetarian selection, however, is sufficient and satisfactory. All in all, the visit here was nice, but it left us with a big hole in our wallet and a small one in our stomach.

We were lucky to spontaneously get a seat in this restaurant. The food was amazing, the wine was delicious and the service was sensational. This beautiful evening was rounded off with a fantastic sunset.

Unfortunately, we were not completely impressed by the Spanish Steps restaurant in Hamburg. Despite making a reservation in advance, we had to wait at least half an hour without being offered a drink or any other attention - particularly annoying since we arrived hungry. Even when we were suggested the waiting area by the stairs, no waitress came to offer us something to drink. That was very disappointing when we arrived. When we finally got our table, the location was fantastic: a beautiful spot right on the Alster with a fantastic view, especially at sunset. But unfortunately the long wait continued until we could finally order. We chose various tapas, which were mediocre overall. The greasy potatoes were particularly disappointing. We expected a lot more for the rather high prices - unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right here. While the ambience is truly outstanding, the service and quality of the food unfortunately couldn't keep up. Overall, the restaurant falls short of its potential in terms of food and service.

The ambience was theoretically magical if we weren't seated in the third row. I had reserved and many tables were free. We were allowed to choose one, unfortunately there were only two of us. The tables by the water are probably reserved for guests who spend twice as much or if you know each other, then you can sit by the water for two (mind you, they came after us) I don't know if I'll go there again

It was our first time there, but we definitely won't be there the last time. A small oasis in the middle of the big city. Beautifully located directly on the Alster. Seasonal operation because only outside seating is available. A nice large terrace invites you to sit right by the water. If you just want to enjoy a drink, you can also make yourself comfortable on the stairs with cushions. We left our food in the hands of the kitchen. Various tapas with fish, meat and veggies. Be it boquerones, scampi, minced meat rolls, potatoes with mojo and much more, there was something for everyone. We enjoyed it great. The aioli is simply delicious. We will come back. Highly recommended!
