Rudolph's in Hamburg

A complete tourist trap. Absolutely tasteless food. Nothing to do with Italy. The carpaccio was tough and inedible. The pasta was overcooked and unseasoned. There was no bread with the appetizer either (it was already gone! On a Saturday night!!!). The service was completely helpless. No apologies, no assistance.

Upon arriving at the company party, I ask the manager if I can have a non-alcoholic Aperol and am told to calm down. A restaurant for alcoholics, then? Pizza was okay, Pasta was abysmally bad, not even Barilla pasta quality, total mush, like in a retirement home. Salad so-so... Dessert was okay. I wouldn't go there on my own. Luckily, I didn't see the bill.

Great restaurant and lots of gluten-free food

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment for me. The rump steak was nothing, over medium and tough. The meat was only "grilled" on one side. The potatoes, most of them undercooked, were hard in the middle. The steak was definitely not good value for money‼️ Annoying. My wife enjoyed the gluten-free pizza. It was also on the higher end in terms of price... But if it tastes good and the quality is good, I'm happy to pay more.

A beautifully located restaurant with very friendly service and excellent food. It's worth mentioning that even people with gluten intolerance will find a very good selection of dishes here, tailored to their needs. The service is very attentive and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening! We deducted one point for the ambiance due to the background noise. The acoustics are quite loud. Nevertheless, we felt very comfortable and would gladly return. We arrived about an hour earlier than our reservation and asked if it was possible to get a table for three people. This was confirmed with a hand gesture toward the available tables, which was the greeting. The decor is rather practical and meets our needs, but it didn't feel inviting. Upon further inquiry, our server informed us that the gluten-free offerings were limited to pizza. We would have liked to have read that on the website before we made our reservation. The Ratsherren Pils on tap was not chilled, but at room temperature. The ordered dishes arrived relatively quickly, and the pleasant gathering could begin. The pizza was prepared in a stone oven and baked at a significantly higher temperature, which meant that the pizza crust had clearly visible soot marks on the top in several places. We wouldn't make a reservation there again.

Loud, but otherwise everything was great. Gluten-free for my celiac child was totally uncomplicated. When I asked if the brownie was available in a gluten-free version, the answer was: "It's always gluten-free." The service was very friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious.

We received a friendly welcome. The service was very good. The pizzas were good, but not great. They could have been crispier and more flavorful. It would have been nice to have had bread and herb butter/aioli served beforehand. Otherwise, everything was good.

Unfortunately, a bitter disappointment. Despite having a reservation, we waited a quarter of an hour for our table, even though half the place was empty. After another half hour of waiting for the menus to be brought to us after repeated requests, The drinks took another quarter of an hour, and half of them were wrong or missing. The extremely friendly (irony off) manager told us we were sitting at the wrong table, which was for 8 people and not 7. She also seemed unhappy with her staff, as we could hear them throughout the restaurant all evening. The food was quite okay. The price-performance ratio was absolutely unjustified. If you charge high prices, you have to deliver. When we paid, the waiter said we didn't look happy, but there was no apology or anything else. Not recommended!!!!

Super delicious food and attentive friendly service

Despite having a reservation, we were able to choose a large table for 10 people outside. We then waited 45 minutes to order drinks. Then we waited even longer for drinks. Our food order was successful after an hour of waiting. My pizza was very burnt around the edges, and I could have gotten a new one. But since I'd already waited 90 minutes for everything, I accepted it. Unfortunately, there was no offer of a glass of wine on the house or anything like that. The gluten-free pizza was good, and so were a few other pizzas. We must have just had a bad day, and unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Friendly service and good food. We had to ask twice for the dessert menu and the bill, as they forgot to ask both times. What wasn't great was the information provided in advance over the phone. When I asked if my children, both of whom have celiac disease, could eat gluten-free at the restaurant, I was told, "If it says so online, it must be true." That almost put us off going.

We were part of a larger group and chose this restaurant because of the gluten-free pizza. Due to a technical problem in the interface between ordering and the kitchen, we felt like we were just a sideshow. It took more than 30 minutes for someone to come to our table. Then we were given only the menu. Another 15 minutes later, we were finally able to order after asking. Initially, only drinks. They arrived relatively quickly, but not all of them. We were only informed of the problem when our food orders were taken. The ordered dishes were delivered relatively promptly, but only a quarter of the group rated them as more than satisfactory. Some of the pizzas were very oven-baked. Due to a booked barge trip, a new pizza was offered, but they were not offered. An apology or, perhaps, a free drink was "none." We then paid at the counter, as no one cleared the table or asked for more. We really missed the service described in the previous reviews. We won't be coming back. It's a shame, because the location has something.

I find it hard to understand the good reviews. We made a reservation, were rudely directed "downstairs," where the extremely unfriendly manager couldn't find our reservation at first, barked at us, then finally found it, but then just rudely said, "It's not possible yet, you'll have to wait," and we were shown outside. No sorry, no smile, nothing. After 10 minutes, we finally got a table, and it became clear that we weren't dealing with trained service staff. We sat there stupidly for another 10 minutes until a menu finally arrived. Drinks weren't cold; a virgin aperitif was only sweet; I had to reorder water to drink it; the waitress didn't understand what I meant by "can you add some water, it's too sweet." The food came quickly, the pizzas were okay, but my gnocchi was 80 percent sauce with maybe 12 gnocchis. The service was still just odd, not courteous or friendly. Really not worth a visit.

We reserved a table for 10 people. We received the menus after 15 minutes. The drinks arrived after 60 minutes. Unfortunately, they also brought the wrong drinks. Overall, the service staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and confused. The food arrived after another 20 minutes. One or two of the pizzas were very burnt, and the bologna was inedible. The gluten-free pizza was apparently good. Unfortunately, we were used to something different and were very disappointed.

Very disappointing! We had reserved a table and had been looking forward to the food for a while. The good reviews piqued our interest, but unfortunately, we can't confirm them. When we arrived, the manager (?) asked us to simply choose any table instead of being shown to our reserved one. Some of the tables weren't even set, even though we arrived shortly after the restaurant opened. My companion wanted to add other vegetarian components to an asparagus starter salad (e.g., potato wedges, which were also available with other dishes). According to the menu, only shrimp could be ordered as an option. After consulting with a colleague, no other side dish was available. Since our waitress was very new, we asked the manager again if we could order something with the salad. She said we could also have gluten-free bread. So, it worked after all. ... When we got our food, however, the bread was missing and took a while to arrive... Our bottle of water was simply slammed down on the table by the "nice" colleague before disappearing without a word. In between, and even until the end, there was no question about whether we wanted something else to drink, whether everything was okay, or anything else. When we finally informed the waiter that we wanted to pay, he simply said, "You had the fish with potatoes, the starter salad, bread (for €7.50?!), and a bottle of water—that's it?" If we'd had the chance, we would have ordered more drinks and desserts, but we weren't even given a second glance. Our waitress from the beginning then just took care of another area next to us. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to come back like that. The service was in dire need of improvement, and the food, even though it wasn't bad, looked very poorly presented.

The gluten-free pizza parmesan was delicious. They also have gluten-free beer (a rare find in Germany, based on my experience, which is not infrequent). The waiters were very friendly and attentive. 100% recommended.

Das Servicepersonal ist sehr freundlich und umsichtig, keine langen Wartezeiten beim Bestellen oder Nachbestellen von Getränken. Die Spargelsuppe kam im heißen Teller, sah merkwürdig aufgeschäumt aus und war nur lauwarm, Mikrowelle? Wenig Spargelgeschmack und das Brot dazu war oben drauf verbrannt. Die Linguine mit Spargel und Trüffelsauce, sehr überschaubare Portion Nudeln, schätzungsweise 50 Gramm, mit einer weißen pampigen Soße, keine Spur von Trüffelgeschmack und keine Trüffel drin, übersichtlich kleine Spargelstückchen von ca. 1,0 cm und 2 größere Stücke, dafür aber den Geschmack mit Frühlingszwiebeln "aufgepeppt", sodass alles nach Frühlingszwiebel geschmeckt hat. Das ganze für 23 Euro. Die 5 dünnen Stangen Spargel mit Kartoffeln und Katenschinken kosteten 30,50 Euro waren ebenfalls völlig überteuert und kein Geschmackserlebnis. Die Pizzen von unseren Freunden sahen ordentlich aus, aber keiner war hellauf begeistert. Wir gehen alle gerne und gut essen und zahlen auch gerne einen angemessenen Preis für lecker Essen. Alles in allem kein Highlight. Dazu kommt, dass die Räumlichkeit nicht gemütlich ist, also länger sitzen macht keinen Spaß und viel zu laut.

We pre-ordered two pizzas, arrived after the stated time, and were then left standing outside in the cold for 45 minutes. Apparently, we were forgotten, even though the service staff walked past us several times; no one seemed to care. Only after asking did we discover that the pizzas had been ready for a while and were sitting in the oven. The €3 surcharge for the vegan cheese, which was extremely cheap, two halved cherry tomatoes, and a basil leaf on a tasteless sauce really didn't justify the €15 price tag. They weren't even sliced.

As a long-standing partner, we greatly value our collaboration with Rudolphs in Hafencity. For many years, we have been visiting the restaurant regularly for our events – whether with students or seminar participants from the Frankfurt School – and there's always a table available for us. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always friendly and attentive. The lunch menu, in particular, offers excellent value for money. Rudolphs offers reliable quality and a pleasant atmosphere – we're always happy to come back! A big thank you to the entire team – here's to many more years together!

We've been to Rudolph's several times. The food was delicious, as always. However, the service on our last visit was very poor. The way the waiter took our orders seemed complicated. As a result, two meals weren't served, and some of us had to wait a long time. Our leftover food was thrown away instead of being packed up, and we not only ended up with too much on the bill, but we also had to pay another table's bill first. So, unfortunately, this time it was a complete failure, but the food was delicious.

Pizza's okay, nothing more. And you have to like a thick crust without any toppings...

Great restaurant! Despite being fully booked every evening, the staff were fantastic, with genuine smiles on their faces and were very attentive and dedicated, as well as delicious, high-quality dishes! Gluten-free options are also available (celiac disease runs in the family). We felt very well looked after every evening and thank you very much for that – especially the young man who sees his job as a calling! We were able to feel that :)

They serve gluten-free dishes, such as pizza and pasta. The gluten-free pizza was very thin, and therefore very crispy in one spot around the edges. But the rest was very tasty, even though the toppings were very light and contained a lot of cheese. The gluten-containing pizza had a thicker crust and, according to my husband, also tasted good.

The food was delicious! I felt very well looked after and advised when I told them about all my intolerances. The lovely waitress even had the kitchen double-check my order and was thoughtful about it herself. Thank you for a lovely evening!

The gluten-free pizza is O.K. The dessert was very good. Almost all the staff are friendly. Only the blonde lady behind the counter needs a bit of a start. The ambience in the interior is O.K. But a bit loud. The toilets are not marked, although people keep asking about them. In any case, the restaurant is recommended.

We visited this restaurant yesterday - overall it was a mixed experience. The gluten-free pizza was really tasty: thin dough, crispy edges, just the way it should be. The taste and consistency were perfect - you rarely get such a good gluten-free version. Unfortunately, the service was less convincing. The two waitresses were friendly but visibly exhausted, even though it wasn't rush hour. When asked a simple question - for example, whether the dish could be made dairy-free - the answer was a curt "no", without any explanation or alternative. Our order was also served incorrectly, which made no sense since the side dish was actually part of the dish. We almost felt like it was our fault because the waitress didn't come back to apologize or announce a correction... That's why we didn't give a tip at the end - maybe that's why the waitress even took half my glass of water without saying a word... not nice.

Unfortunately, the evening on May 9th, 2025 didn't go well! We were with 4 adults + 11 years. there and had reserved because the map on the Internet was correct: something for everyone. Unfortunately, rump steak was replaced by asparagus + various side dishes, ok - depending on the season. Asparagus + potatoes came cold and once not with butter but with hollandaise. Was then blasted through the microphone again. Since I couldn't get a rump steak, I decided on Pizza Tonno + Dip. Dip only came when asked. Pizza tastes good, but Pizza knife not sufficient for the rubber dough. Asparagus salad with king prawns for my wife: Where is the asparagus? A few small shrimps... A second wheat was forgotten, 20 minutes later I didn't feel like eating it anymore out of spite. Finally, 3x caraway schnapps. There was 1x caraway. When I asked the waiter at the counter for payment, the answer was "oh, bad now, have to go to the toilet..." 164.70 euros then ended in 167.- 2.30 for the kitchen. It may be that EVERYONE had a bad day, but I won't let it ruin my second evening!

There were four of us and we really liked it, partly because of the many gluten-free options. I would particularly like to emphasize the courtesy and friendliness of the staff despite our special requests and the full tables. We'd love to come back.

The food was generally very tasty. However, there is too much to complain about: The staff was completely overwhelmed and wasn't really friendly either. We were only able to place our order after 45 minutes of waiting (!!). The first drink was on our table almost an hour after we sat down. Some of the starters were brought incorrectly. For one of the pizzas, the order receipt was still stuck under the pizza, which we only noticed when eating, after we had already had part of it in our mouths. There was no excuse for it - not even the word was said. At some point you were brought the cards and asked if you would like dessert. We confirmed this. After that, the waitress wasn't seen again until about half an hour later and asked if everything was still OK. We then ordered the invoice. We no longer granted them the sales.

Very good ambience, very friendly service and a very good pizza. A highlight for me: gluten-free food and even gluten-free beer 🍺. A special award for Hamburg. This is a must when you are in Hamburg!

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. Very nice atmosphere, quiet and yet centrally located. Sitting outside and inside is possible.

Wir waren froh, ohne vorherige Reservierung einen Tisch zu bekommen. Beim zweiten Besuch haben wir für 5 Personen vorher reserviert. Sehr schnell und sehr freundlich wurden wir an beiden Tagen von einer jungen Frau und einem wirklich sehr nettem jungen Mann bedient. Die Speisekarte ist nicht überladen und scheint saisonal geändert zu werden. Bei unserem Besuch hatte man sich der Spargelsaison angepasst. Alle Gerichte werden frisch zubereitet. Sowohl meine Pasta ( Bolognese Blanco ) und die Pizza meines Mannes waren richtig schmackhaft und ausreichend große Portionen. Die Chefin des Lokals backt täglich Kuchen für Gäste mit Glutenunverträglichkeiten selbst !!!! Wo findet man das noch !!!???? Das einzig störende war der Lautstärkepegel, der im Lokal herrschte.

There is celiac disease in the family and the service staff were very knowledgeable about the subject. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. The food was very tasty and fresh. Our daughter's gluten-free pizza was also excellent. We ate outside and had a nice seat there.

The ambience alone invites you to enjoy. You are greeted in a friendly manner and taken to the (preferably) reserved table. On the way you walk past delicious places that invite you to breathe away 🤤. The service is excellent, as is the cuisine. I couldn't help but tell them they were gods. Because that's what it tastes like there. I'm eternally grateful to Rudolph's for its existence, because I was able to enjoy a pizza and the best brioché normally again.

We like the friendly and informal atmosphere. A variety of people (and dogs) meet for a good meal. Not only is the thin and crispy pizza worth it, the pasta and meat dishes are also plentiful and delicious. There are other gluten-free options in Hamburg, but in my opinion no one can match this taste and especially the completely uncomplicated handling of allergens. Thank you very much and keep it up!

A restaurant that specializes in offering extremely good gluten-free options. More or less everything on the menu can be gluten-free. The pizzas were the best I've tried and the pasta was 10 out of 10. This place is well worth a detour. Very friendly staff with god knowledge regarding gluten.

It was delicious, gluten-free works great too. However, the noise level was very high and tiring because the entire location was completely occupied. Despite reserving a table, we had to wait a few minutes until the table was set.

We had reserved, but when we arrived none of the employees responded to us. We just stood there and waited for someone to talk to us. When an employee simply walked past us without speaking to us, we spoke to the employee behind the counter. She then assigned us a table. Unfortunately you felt a bit out of place when you arrived. The food, including the gluten-free pizza, was delicious, but a little underdone for the fairly high price. It was also quite loud and dark in the restaurant.

All in all a good thing. Pizza was perfectly fine in terms of taste and consistency. Unfortunately, the gluten-free version is smaller. The regular pizza just has a wide crust without any toppings. This is where the tastes differ. We were served by 2 ladies. The waitress with blonde hair was friendly and approachable. The waitress with dark hair (short body size) was a little lacking in hospitality: After we were served the food, we noticed that an ingredient was missing from two pizzas and called us. She came so late that there was only 1 small pizza corner left. There was no appropriate response to our careful, friendly inquiry and advice, but "... well, there wouldn't have been mountains of basil..." We don't have high expectations, but she could easily say, for example, oh, it wasn't intentional, how can we make it up to you... something like that would have been enough for us. We would have thanked you very much. This point was weak and this, along with high prices, devalued the visit.

Unique - a successful evening with delicious food

Delicious food, filling, good value for money, and no waiting. The staff were very attentive and took great care of us. Several people served us, and everyone was on their toes, quickly, and professionally. We remember a young Thai woman with whom we had a brief chat. Her greeting was very warm, yet she took her time, even though the restaurant was full on a Saturday evening. She was the most charming and makes Italian cuisine here something special. The two of us felt very comfortable and will definitely be back.

We even got a seat without a reservation. The receptionist was friendly and extremely attentive. She recommended the Tartufo Bianco truffle pizza, which I really liked. Happy to come back!

We came here because the restaurant advertises that it also has a comprehensive gastronomic offering for those affected by celiac disease. They definitely have! When we entered the restaurant, an older woman (I'm assuming she was the owner) was simply vacuuming at the front. After the food came very quickly, there were about twice as many employees in the restaurant as guests. Unfortunately, when I wanted to pay, it didn't work so easily because I wasn't noticed. Since my hair was falling over my face, I made a new braid. The older woman looks at me in horror and says across the entire restaurant in front of other guests what I could think of because it would be absolutely unhygienic. I had to smile a little after seeing the toilet (absolutely dingy) and smelling the old vacuum cleaner. How can you behave like that in front of other guests? Here the customer is not king! NEVER AGAIN!

The reception in the restaurant was rather off-putting. When we entered the restaurant, there were already a few guests waiting in the entrance area and no one from the staff was paying attention to the guests who had arrived. It was a great evening at Rudolph’s I eat gluten-free and rarely experience eating out as easily and deliciously as at Rudolph’s. Only recommended.

We didn't have a reservation. We still got a nice table for 4 people. The food was delicious. No problem that we shared a pizza in the evening. The pizza was shared and we received 2 small extra plates. The service was very! friendly. Only the noise in the restaurant detracted from the very good impression. This could certainly be improved significantly and for little money with a few acoustic elements distributed throughout the room. The big tip was well deserved.

We were greeted unfriendly by the boss right from the start. The taste of the food was okay but it was tasteless. The service staff was friendly. At the end, the boss very rudely asked us to leave with the words "we need the table", even though we hadn't even drunk our espressos, there were no guests waiting and some tables were unoccupied. Addition: There was no prior notice as mentioned in the answer. Apparently, similar situations occur more often, based on previous reviews. Too bad...

Seems like a difficult locarion. First the door didn't open, then a table in the dark. After the meal the bill came before the espresso we ordered. As soon as it was served, the boss came and rudely asked us to vacate it.

Unfortunately not really recommended. Boss very unfriendly. After dinner we weren't even asked if we wanted anything else. On the contrary, we were immediately instructed to leave the restaurant because they would need the table.

Super tasty pizzas and pasta. Great ambience! We'd love to come back!

We had reserved a table. When we arrived, the manager apparently opened the restaurant and let more guests into the restaurant. She seemed very stressed and her handbag was still on the counter because it had obviously only arrived shortly before it opened. We wanted to point out our reservation and were told not to. just take a table with two chairs. We had to quickly leave the chosen spot and were asked to change so that she didn't have to walk so far. We chose the gluten-free pizza with vegan cheese substitute twice. Unfortunately it wasn't mentioned that the pesto wasn't vegan, it was simply left out. There didn't seem to be an alternative. So we were served a sad Pollo e Pesto pizza without pesto, just with a few pieces of chicken and pine nuts. The second Hawaiian pizza was just as sparse (little toppings with a decent surcharge for the vegan cheese, then even cheaper cooked ham). Both pizzas were not hot and therefore went cold quickly. The taste was ok. The place by the water was beautiful!

Wonderful food with lots of gluten free options! Mandatory visit!

Great gluten-free pizza, but even the “normal” pizza is exceptionally good. Casual atmosphere, nice staff. You should reserve in advance (online).
