Sophie's Café in Berchtesgaden

A very nice café and restaurant. Modern cuisine with delicious food at fair prices. We visited Sophie's twice during our vacation weekend. Highly recommended!

We stopped off on our way back from Italy and stopped here for dinner. Since our daughter needs gluten-free food, we found Sophie's Cafe on the "Find Me Gluten-Free" app. Several dishes are gluten-free, including ice cream. The owner is super nice. The atmosphere is also great. But the best part was the absolutely delicious food 🤤 100% recommended.

We reserved via email and received a quick response. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was friendly. We would definitely return.

We had schnitzel with fries and a good salad. We also had a hamburger that was good. Unfortunately, one schnitzel was overcooked. Everything else was super fresh and good. The plates were cleared quickly, Mediterranean-style, after the food was finished... perhaps a little too quickly.

The coffee was very tasty and aromatic—I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the apple strudel was disappointing, as the dough was still raw. A little more care in the baking would have been appreciated.

Great experience! Best restaurant in my euro trip! We have ordered fishplate, steak, chanterelle soup and deserts. Although the steak is a little bit overcooked, others are all delicious~ Friendly staff, the little waitress is so cute~

We had arrived in Berchtesgaden having spent 8 nights at one of the best hotels in Italy. We were not sure what we wanted but after Italy wanted something very good. Stumbled across Sophie's by chance. Menu was appealing. Choice of seating in front patio area, inside or rear patio overlooking a small tranquil park. Chose rear patio. Food was fresh, well cooked and presented. Sophie was an excellent hostess who could speak good English. Enjoyed the meal, decor and service so much returned the next day, twice the next day and again the next day. On all occasions everything was first class. Ate in all 3 areas. Inside decor is stylish and well thought out. Overall very good value. Would happily eat here every week if we did not live over 1,700km away. Will remember our meals here with fond memories.

Stumbled across this wonderful restaurant by chance. Excellent, well presented, fresh food. Ate here on 4 consecutive days. Sophie is a superb hostess. Well thought out decor with choice of inside and outside seating. Very good value. If did not live 1,700km away would eat here every week.

Truffle pasta with beef fillets Such a large portion.🤣 Every linguine is covered with rich and creamy truffle sauce. The beef fillets are perfectly cooked. 2. Beef steak with hash brown and bacon asparagus The steak is zesty and tender. Medium is just right. Deep-fried hash brown is crispy. Truly appreciate the sauce accompanied! 😍

We saw this restaurant had a number of good reviews and now we can add ours as well. . We tried several different items from the menu (zucchini starter, schnitzel, curry with chicken, and a delicious creme brulee)and we're very happy with all our choices. Portions are well sized, flavorful and reasonably priced. Service was also prompt and friendly.

It doesn't have the typical Bavarian flair, which isn't a bad thing. A bit too hip for my taste but as I said, that's a matter of taste. I had schnitzel with fries, and my friend had the beef burger with potatoes. The fries and potatoes are frozen goods. The schnitzel was tasty. The burger was ok, but unfortunately it was missing a sauce or something “peppy”. The food came quickly and the conditions were friendly.

Very good restaurant serving delicious food - I especially recommend the divine curry with rice. Everything beautifully and quickly served. Diese Location kann man wirklich nur empfehlen…sehr schönes und gemütliches Restaurant, gepflegte und nette Gäste, abwechslungsreiche und gut ausgewählte Karte mit leckeren Speisen. Wir wurden sehr warmherzig von der Chefin und vom Team empfangen und haben einen sehr angenehmen Abend verbracht und das Essen sehr genossen. Die Qualität vom Essen und das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist top…also probiert es aus und kommt einfach selber mal hierher. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder…Liebe Sophie bitte so weitermachen. We did 7 days in berchtesgaden and this was the final meal stop for us Friday. The food was fantastic and the service was the best we experienced on our trip. The roasted vegetables were the best I ever had and the beef roast was the most flavor I ever experienced! We loved it gave the Kellner a 20euro tip for just the 2 of us.. Highly suggest this place!

We were able to get to know Sophie’s Cafe at a reception. The very friendly staff gave us an experience in the very nice atmosphere, with the terrace right on the park. The selected finger food buffet was a delight. A recommended address!

We went there spontaneously after a hike and we got a table and the food was really good with a very good ambience.. the service was really friendly too… Definitely recommend 😊

We were looking forward to a delicious coffee. Unfortunately the two flat whites I ordered were subpar. The fact that we didn't like the taste could be due to the bean used and is a matter of taste, but unfortunately the entire flat white was poorly crafted. The milk foam was coarse-pored and didn't bond with the "espresso", it just floated carelessly on top of the espresso, which was far too long. So there was coarse foam on tasteless cafe cream without latte art. The cheese cake was OK. The service was friendly at first, but unfortunately extremely unfriendly when paying. When we wanted to pay by card, the device was brought out silently, shaking our heads and rolling our eyes. When asked whether card payments were bad, they said "actually only from €20 onwards". If the waitress had told us directly, it wouldn't have been a problem to pay the amount in cash.

Vegetarian food options are really good. We had the Wok, which was basically Thai curry and rice, but it was tasty. It is more expensive than other restaurants in the area though.

Excellent meal at an affordable price. If you like chanterelles, this is the place.

Small café restaurant in the middle of Berchtesgaden right next to the spa park and the tourist information center. Relaxed atmosphere and tasty food. The service was friendly and attentive. We liked it, especially the outdoor seating area facing the small spa garden.

I really liked Sophie's Café. With a view of the Berchtesgaden spa gardens, I ate well and drank a delicious beer from the local brewery. The service was friendly and hardworking. There was nothing - really nothing - to complain about. Unreservedly recommended. Addendum summer 2024: Went there again and didn't regret it. Great and friendly service, pleasant atmosphere and good food. I hope that this café will continue to exist for a long time and that I will be able to be a guest there again in the coming years.

We have been visiting Berchtesgaden for 11 yrs from North Wales and always visit Sophie’s. The food is always superb and this visit was no exception. Sophie herself is always so helpfull and pleasant. The surroundings add to the wonderful experience.

We went for some after dinner dessert. Service is very friendly. Dessert is superb. We had the chocolate dessert and an amazing Crème brûlée! There was also great live band music. My fiancée and I had a wonderful evening there. Highly recommend!

Wir reisten an diesem Tag in Berchtesgaden an und fuhren gezielt zu Sophies Café. Vor der Bestellung der Speisen suchten wir zunächst die Toilettenräume auf. Auf die Frage, wo sich diese befinden wurde äußerst unfreundlich der Weg gewiesen. Anschließend baten wir um die Speisekarte. Da wir uns im Vorfeld zum Lokal erkundigt hatten, waren wir erstaunt, dass uns keine Karte zum Mittagstisch vorgelegt wurde. Danach erkundigt, wurde auch äußerst unfreundlich geanwortet und keine Mittagskarte geholt. Die Facebook Seite wirbt allerdings mit dem aktuellen Mittagstisch. Touristen werden hier abgezogen, da kann man besser in einem der vielen Restaurant des Hotels Edelweiss speisen. Wir hatten für 45 Euro Speisen verzehrt. Diese waren in Ordnung. Schöne Location aber der Service der Eigentümerin an Überheblichkeit nicht zu überbieten.

You will pay more for coffee than in the surrounding area. You cannot pay by card. The menu did not appeal to us. A business in a nice location.

Sehr schönes und modern ausgestattetes Restaurant im Zentrum Berchtesgadens. Die Karte ist zwar nicht sehr groß aber sehr abwechslungsreich. Die Preise sind ebenfalls angemessen. Ich hatte als Vorspeise eine Pfifferlingscremesuppe und als Hauptspeise eine Leber auf venezianische Art und es war beides wirklich sehr gut. Auch die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und schnell.

Food was quite pricey for the quality. Ordered the vegetarian curry and the tomato pasta - both tasted very mediocre and bland unfortunately. Vegetarian curry was quite disgusting, had too much cream / coconut milk and it was incredibly heavy as well. Rice was too mushy and felt like there was too much water added. Service felt pretty mediocre compared to those we have gotten around the Berchtesgaden area. Atmosphere was quite nice and romantic but otherwise, the food was only so-so.

the back product is maybe not from their own backery. The prices are high.. not accepting card.. only cash money.... and very bad service.

A stone's throw away from our hotel, the path deliberately led us to this restaurant. Our expectations were fully met because everything was of very good quality.

Das Restaurant liegt im Kern der Berchtesgadener Innenstadt . Es ist modern und schön gestaltet. Ich habe die Leber Venezia gegessen, ein Gericht, welches ich selten in so toller Qualität erhalte. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr nett und obwohl es nicht das typisch bayrische Essen hier gibt, ist es, für Touristen und Einheimische immer einen Besuch wert!

Located in the middle of Berchtesgaden, you can sit outside here when the sun is shining. There's nothing wrong with the service - it was quick and friendly. The panna cotta was okay, I found it lacking some flavor. The ice cream pancake was delicious. The flat white with oat milk was solid. There was also a selection of cakes.

Noodles with truffles and teriyaki beef tasted very good. Service was attentive and friendly. Only the music was a bit annoying 😀

Modern stylish restaurant. Food is good, but a bit too light for my taste. In my opinion, service was a disgrace, and the waiter was hard to beat in terms of arrogance and arrogance. It was also more important to him to have a loud conversation with his colleague, the bartender, than to serve the guests. Only when asked did he bring the card, and the same when handed over. The bill was only brought after three requests. It's a shame because this place really has potential.

Oudejaarsavond gevierd in dit restaurant. Heel leuk en gezellig restaurant. Gastvrij ontvangen door Sophie. Eten was heerlijk. Wel wat prijzig, maar het was een speciale avond met een prachtige vuurwerkshow als afsluiter.

The selection of vegan food is limited, but if you're into the curry, it's definitely a good choice. It wasn't the first time at Sophie's, but it definitely won't be the last either ☺️

ESSEN UND AMBIENTE EINFACH TOLL! Im Rahmen unseres Betriebsausflugs waren wir im Sophie‘s. Während der Planungsphase wurden wir bereits bestens begleitet und im Restaurant waren wir von dem zuvorkommenden Service sehr begeistert. Alle 34 Kolleg*innen bekamen gleichzeitig das leckere Essen serviert und Durst konnte erst gar nicht aufkommen. Es war ein sehr gelungener Abschluss - herzlichen Dank an‘s Team, danke Sophie.

Modern eingerichtetes Lokal, mitten in Berchtesgaden. Freundlicher und sehr aufmerksamer Service, das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, war nicht gerade günstig. Leider war es ganz schön laut, die Luft später stickig, es waren aber auch viele Gäste da. Fazit: empfehlenswert.

Enjoyed a pretty good meal at Sophie's recently. Burger was grilled nicely, fresh toppings and bun that held all together nicely. We really liked the chicken curry, prepared in a Thai/Malay(ish) style with coconut milk and a nice spice level. This dish had a bit of a kick to it and tasted really nice. Would be happy to eat here again during future trips to Berchtesgaden.
