I had the suckling pig for dinner and eierschecke for dessert. I would recommend getting a reservation since it was busy when I went, but the food was great, I really like the decor and theme, and the staff was friendly. Definitely a highlight of my trip to Dresden.

We celebrated my 50th birthday here and I would like to thank the Sophienkeller team for doing everything possible to make the evening unforgettable. We had booked the alchemist feast. The food was very plentiful and the supporting program was very entertaining.

I cannot help but express in the strongest possible terms my extreme dissatisfaction with the service at your tavern. After my visit to you, I have to realize that the “high level of service” you propagated had to remain an unattainable fantasy in this country. First of all, I would like to point out that your waiters have obviously chosen “arrogance” as their motto. They have gone overboard with their condescending attitude, as if we were beggars begging for alms rather than customers spending a hefty sum on their meal. When I asked about the dishes on the menu, I didn't receive an enthusiastic recommendation, just a cold rejection and a look of contempt. Furthermore, the behavior of your waiters can simply be described as “bad”. As far as I could notice, while I was enjoying their "care", they were always impatient, as if my presence disturbed their leisure. What was even more unbearable was how they rolled their eyes at my legitimate concerns, as if they were mocking my ignorance. Finally, I would like to say that unfortunately the stylish decor of your tavern cannot compensate for the terribly bad attitude of your staff. Here I experienced a previously unknown coldness and arrogance. If you continue to treat your customers this way, it won't be long before your rooms are filled with empty chairs and occasional sighs. I really hope you address this point and train your staff to understand what real service means. Otherwise, I will regrettably have to inform my friends and all that your tavern is not worth visiting.

Had a very good coffee with a nice view of the Cholera fountain. The waitress was super nice. Insider tip: The toilet has talking mirrors ;)

Two visits during the weekend in Dresden. Sat in the garden. Quick service and nice food. It's a good normal place to eat and have a beer if you don't seek anything fancy.

Con super vista sullo Zwinger, abbiamo ordinato due piatti di carne veramente ottimi! Pollo in pasta sfoglia con spinaci e salsa al formaggio e Sachsischer Sauerbraten (arrosto con rape rosse cotte in aceto). Sicuramente oltre le aspettative! Birra della Sassonia. Prezzo medio, ma i piatti erano veramente abbondanti!

I had the house speciality and it was very good. This restaurant is beautiful inside, in the basement, with wooden furniture, a cannon, and a reconstruction of the old times, very captivating. The waitress was kind. It would be 5 stars for me if the price would have been a little bit lower. I understand that all this needs maintenance, but I would like not be forced to pay at least 3 euros if I want only a glass of water. For the rest, I think it deserves to eat here at least once.

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in Dresden. The interior is very unusual, there are tables right on the swing. The portions are good, the food is tasty, the service is pleasant.

A must have when staying in Dresden!! We say Chapeau for a (repeatedly) beautiful evening in this great atmosphere - even if our dream vault was unfortunately closed due to necessary construction work - we were adequately served as a family in the pavilion, the service was great, the musical accompaniment as well, and the food was a culinary delight (kudos also to the kitchen team) and the “cosel tears” and “funnel drinking” are our recommendation, the story behind it anyway. We look forward to the next time and thank you for everything. If Dresden, then definitely eat and stay in the wonderful Sophienkeller! 🫶

I was between June 21st. - June 28th On vacation in Dresden in 2024. After visiting sights, I had lunch there three times. I liked it excellently. The dishes are always freshly prepared. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Pure experience gastronomy. Absolutely a must if you come to Dresden. We had an excellent meal in a great atmosphere and great entertainment.

Friends of ours had booked a suckling pig dinner for 8 people at the “Sophienkeller Dresden”. From 5 p.m., I'll keep it short, it went until 10 p.m. But very pleasant with a separate room, constant accompaniment by a waitress and waiter and in between a tour of all the rooms with explanations. I'll put it this way, it was just great. Thanks again to the team and the nice people who did this to us 😂🍺🙋‍♂️

I was appalled by the service at the Sophienkeller! As soon as I was shown to my table my server shouted (loudly) at one of the staff right by me. As I didn’t understand the language very well I was quite scared and intimidated by the behaviour. I thought I did something wrong. When I asked he said ‘oh the little people are doing it wrong again’..which I thought was very rude and the young lady looked a bit upset - talk about a toxic work environment! Diet Pepsi was the same price as full fat but half the size. The food was okay but a bit dry and so I asked for sauce. They brought me sauce and told me I had to pay extra for it which I couldn’t really say no too. After the meal, I didn’t leave a tip as I thought their attitude was terrible due to the shouting. The server then told me in Germany service wasn’t included and I should ‘pay up next time’. I usually do tip but why would I tip such appalling service?! why would I tip a bully? When I explained why I didn’t want to tip he proceeded to follow me up the stairs shouting at me that I thought he was unprofessional. As a woman alone I felt quite intimidated by the entire thing and it was just a horrible end to what I thought would be a nice night. If the staff here are that put out that they rely on tips for a living wage then the manager should up the hourly rate so as to not have their rude staff shout at patrons.

There is also an experience of gastronomy with personal live singing at the table and anecdotes from the Count. The Dresden Funnel Drinking is a must.

A beautiful cellar restaurant with a collection of relics. Beautifully decorated and the quality of food matches the deco also. It was also pretty low on price point considering the location and the setup. The service was good. The toilets were squeaky clean. I loved it!

Anyone who enjoys the very good food under umbrellas here on the street will miss the dining rooms in the basement of this restaurant, which have been designed with great attention to detail. We can only report on Julia, but we immediately felt like we were in the right place. A warm welcome and attentive service are paired with delicacies and a wealth of little things to discover, which makes a visit here an experience. Really happy to come back when we come to Dresden.

We were very enthusiastic, great ambience, great food and still full, quick and good. A nice thing is the 1 liter Radeberger that is served here. Showmen show their art and make the time even more entertaining.

The three stars were only for the ambience and the animation by a bard and a disguised "August the Strong". Unfortunately the food was below average. Mini trout almost cold for €16.90 and suckling pig that didn't taste convincing for €19.90 were unfortunately disappointing. The service was slow and not particularly attentive. A pity. The location was promising.

The meat options looked good and my partner loved his Sauerbraten. However, as a vegetarian, you better find a different place. There were 3 vegetarian dishes on the menu, but all of them really not dishes I would go for into a restaurant. A bit disappointing. (Also, it’s always disappointing to see that most veggie options are without protein. The only option with protein was the quinoa filled bell pepper.)

Good food and price/performance ratio Top service. We were looked after in a friendly and courteous manner and all our needs were taken into account even though the store was full. It's a bit like experience gastronomy and therefore very entertaining but also "loud". But it's part of it.

All dishes were good to very good. But the service staff took some getting used to. For example, my husband was handed the soup spoon across the table, he had to take it from the waiter, the same with the soup...In general, I missed professional service...The "speeches" of the service staff towards us were also more rustic Beer garden suitable...

Extraordinary restaurant in the historic vault, food like it once was at the court of August the Strong. A super experience gastronomy of a special kind. The location is the old vaults of the Taschenbergpalais, built in 1706. It originally served as a central building for the first mistress of August the Strong, Countess Cosel. When you enter the vaults you feel like you have been transported back in time 400 years. Everything is beautifully decorated, looks medieval, there are different rooms and stairs. In summer there is also a beautiful beer garden in front of the restaurant with a view of the Zwinger. If you're going to eat in the cellar, it's better to make a reservation in advance; you can also do this easily online. I was warmly welcomed and given a nice table. The menu is varied and completely sufficient. There is something for everyone from starters to dessert. There is good Saxon cuisine and drinks from local breweries. Good home-baked bread is also offered. A separate children's menu is available. I had a classic pork schnitzel with seasoned meat gratinated, with buttered peas and potato gratin. The portions were nice and big, very appetizingly prepared and tasted perfect. I don't know what could be done better here. The service staff was attentive, friendly and appropriately managed to suit the special ambience. There were also two gentlemen in the restaurant who brought medieval music to the guests. All in all, it was a special experience dining here. The prices are a bit high, which is a given for me given the location and location. The price-performance ratio suits me. We booked the restaurant solely because of the location in the old style from the Middle Ages. The food tastes really great and the portions are completely sufficient depending on your needs. The starter bread was soft and fresh. The potato soup tastes delicious and whets your appetite for more. The musicians who roam the place are really great. The two young men have charm and wit. It was fun listening to them. We'd love to come back.

'One of the most beautiful vaulted restaurants in Dresden' is how the restaurant advertises itself. Although I think this statement is a clear understatement. 1. you have to search for a long time nationwide to find something comparable in terms of architecture, 2. the name restaurant is a bit misleading for this magnificent adventure trip to the time of August the Strong. The menu adapts seamlessly to what is visually presented. Whether it's fresh lard with home-baked bread, sausage and cheese platters from Saxony, suckling pig, the finest game dishes and of course goose and duck, the dishes on offer promise anticipation of what's to come as soon as you read the menu. I'm a fan of Saxon Sauerbraten, my colleagues mostly enjoyed the pork schnitzel gratinated with seasoned meat. Because it would be the best schnitzel au four they have ever eaten. There was no reason for me to doubt this assessment. I have known the restaurant for many years as a holidaymaker or temporary resident of this beautiful city and I will always come back here.
