Really very good fine dining, with an Asian touch. Well trained and friendly staff. The only negative point is the route to the sanitary facilities. They are on the upper floor and can be reached via a very narrow and dark staircase. The staircase is indirectly lit, but is anthracite. The characteristics of the individual stages are difficult to recognize.

Great Asian restaurant with a great ambience, very friendly staff and delicious food. In addition to various sushi variations, other Asian fish and meat dishes are also offered here. The restaurant offers a great selection of Vietnamese dishes and sushi. The ambience is great. The quality of the sushi is excellent, but the portions were a bit small… which spoiled the overall experience a bit.

I have recommended Sona many times. The atmosphere is great (it's particularly comfortable on the upper floor) and the staff is professional. But of course I always like to go there because of the uniquely good food. They work here with great attention to detail, both in terms of taste and in the presentation of the food.

I'm a happy returning customer. Here's my honest review after many deliveries. Sashimi: Very fresh. The cut isn't particularly aesthetic but the size is reasonably good, albeit a bit smaller than some other places. It usually comes with some fresh herbs that have a delicious fragrance, and a good amount of wasabi and ginger. I personally order a portion of sushi rice with it. Btw, the sushi rice here is quite good. Not too sweet, not too sour, and it seems they use a good quality vinegar for it. Soups: One of the main reasons why I became a regular is the Tom Kha soup, it's the best I've ever tried. The choice of vegetables could be improved, and I'd definitely prefer if it didn't have corn, but otherwise it's fantastic, with a good thickness, and really tasty. You can't miss it! For this reason I've never tried the miso soup until today. Well, today I did and I was pleased. Well balanced taste, nice amount of seaweed, the tofu is nicely sized. From what I could taste it was dry tofu which has a firmer texture than silken tofu. Some people swear that miso soup must have silken tofu but I like both solutions. Nigiri: Usually appropriately sized, a bit smaller than in most places but after all sushi should be of a size that's possible to eat in one bite. And whereas the amount of rice here is less than other places, the fish is usually thicker, long and nicely cut. Unfortunately today they were really small, the fish was quite thin, and the tuna wasn't very fresh. The freshness might be because it's holiday. But the rest wasn't up to the quality that I've experienced so far. I guess it was a bad day. It can happen. If it happens again I'll update the review. If I don't, it means it was an exception to the rule. Maki and Rolls: Smaller than in most places, I'd prefer them a bit bigger (at least the Maki) but it's still ok. I'm particularly fond of the Crispy roll. Other places (where it's usually called crunchy) make it way too big and with a too thick layer of breading. Here it's the perfect size for a bite, the breading is thin and dry, and it tastes more elegant than in other places. They probably put some spices in the breading, anyway you should try them. Also, I usually don't digest fried food well, but I've no issue with this. Appetizers: I've tried the two varieties Gyoza. At first when I've read Parmesan in one and truffles in the other I was skeptical. But it was very tasty in a positively subtle way. I've also tried the giant tiger shrimps. The breading is different than in the crispy roll, thicker, yet dry and I suggested it well. The chilly mayo was a nice combo. Service: My experience at the phone was honestly not very pleasant. I didn't feel that my needs were understood and taken seriously, nor was the tone particularly friendly and respectful. Tbh I stopped ordering here for a while because of that. On the contrary, the guy who usually does the deliveries in the evening is amazing. He always smiles and never plays dirty tricks to get tips. In the morning it's mostly one of the kitchen personal who does the delivery. They can't hold a candle to the young man, but it's not their real job so it's acceptable, although it would still be nice if they'd deliver with the same care as when they prepare the food. Overall, it's one of the two best sushi deliveries in Leipzig. I've tried them all and I'm very picky, so trust me. Sona is my official sushi place in Leipzig, and I got used to thanking them by sending a 5 euro tip to the kitchen. For several reasons I rarely give tips to delivery people, but the friendly young man here is so outstanding that I make an exception for him. I hope this helped.

It was the first visit to Sona Leipzig and we were thoroughly impressed. From the ambience to the food, everything was perfect. We were greeted very politely and received very courteous and friendly service throughout the three hour stay. They chose the large platter with the surprises from the kitchen and what can I say: it was perfect and the picture says more than a thousand words. The mix was perfect and there was something for everyone. You can also say in advance what, if any, shouldn't be on the record so much. This is also taken into account. We would also particularly like to praise the arrangement. There was a lot of attention to detail and the highlight was playing with the dry ice. Great! In terms of price it was perfectly fine, there's nothing to complain about. It's certainly not a bargain, but quality also has its price and it was all worth it. We will come back and can only recommend it. Thanks to the team for giving us real culinary delights.

Food tastes great, but the waiter seems a bit unfriendly...

My first visit to Sona was with two friends on a Friday evening. The food (starters, tuna sushi and udon main course) was really delicious, as were the drinks (we ordered lemonades) and we also liked the ambience and decor. The service was generally good and we had a really nice waiter at our table. He then very kindly explained to us that our reservation was actually only valid for one and a half hours - I can't blame the restaurant here, as that was what was in the email about the reservation. However, we had been asked a few minutes before whether we wanted to order more things, so we thought that the hour and a half was just a guide or depending on the number of visitors. So it turned out that wasn't the case. And therefore, even though I almost never write reviews, not a criticism - since we knew it from the reservation email - but a note - it is understandable that you want to serve as many guests as possible, especially on Friday evening, and so have a time slot in the early evening, but an hour and a half seemed a bit too short for the three of us. If you come/reserve later in the evening, the time limit probably no longer applies, but even at an earlier time at least two hours would be nicer. Otherwise very nice restaurant with great food - gladly again.

Super nice place for food! Can highly recommend the duck salad to start and the “you and me” sushi platter. Was lots of food for two and left us wanting to come back. Only feedback I have is the elderflower drink with Prosecco was a little disappointing in comparison to the other drinks around me.

The facilities and staff are great, the food and drinks were exceptionally good, the prices are quite high, especially because there are what feels like 100 Asian restaurants on the street.

The food was perfect and served very well, the service was also quick and friendly. The ambience was basically very nice, but due to how busy it was on Friday evening, the tables were so close together that you almost ate together with the other guests at the "next table" and one of the lamps, which would otherwise probably not hang directly above a table, shone very brightly the whole time directly into the eyes. This was a bit uncomfortable and may be a point that should be taken into account. The menu could perhaps list what the differently prepared sushi rolls are made of next to the platters. But it was still very nice and really tasty, thank you very much!

The service was very friendly, the only point of criticism from us is the time of 90 minutes noted by the service, which may also be due to the high number of people on Valentine's Day. Nevertheless, it was a successful evening and we are looking forward to the next evening at Sona.

Went there spontaneously, without a reservation, but that would be appropriate for Friday/Saturday as there is a lot going on in the suburb. Food lovingly and stylishly prepared. Highly recommended visit.

We were thrilled. The food was great.

Food was good, but the menu was new. Dishes from the old menu were missing. My dish was also different than it was about six months ago. Different taste and my crunchy rolls were smaller. One of the waiters was sometimes unfriendly. Otherwise the food was still tasty and good and came quickly. Still miss the old dishes and taste. It wasn't like before, so we probably won't come back.

Best sushi in Leipzig. Service initially had room for improvement, but after initial difficulties things picked up. A visit to the restaurant is worth the lavish but reasonable prices. The visit was worth it and should definitely be repeated.

There were two of us there. There wasn't much going on at lunchtime on a Monday. The atmosphere is very appealing and the menu is well and clearly laid out. Prices are justified for me based on the quality and design of the food. We really enjoyed it and it probably won't be the last time.

We received a very friendly welcome here and were allowed to sit down even without a reservation. The tables are set to a high standard and the ambience made you want to have a nice evening even before the meal. The service literally read our wishes from our eyes and gave us very good advice. The Sona Barbarie was outstanding and a perfect combination of quantity and quality. The sauce was also fantastically delicious. I have rarely been able to enjoy such a perfect dish. We look forward to the next evening at Sona. We will be back definitely.

Price/performance is not right here for me. Service was hardly available. We were only served at the beginning and by the time we had our sushi we weren't served at all. It is also very cold and uncomfortable down below.

It was really awesome! We ordered for delivery and wanted it to be there by 6:15 p.m. The delivery person rang the bell at exactly 6:15 p.m. The sushi was simply to die for!

Hatte diese nette Location im Mai 2023 durch Zufall gefunden und war Mega begeistert. Somit Wiederholungstäter 😉 Tolle Küche, sehr schön zubereitet, frisch und sehr sehr geschmackvoll. Nur zu empfehlen!!! Jederzeit komme ich wieder.

Wir waren zu früh zur Reservierung, trotzdem guten Platz bekommen! Kellner freundlich und professionell. Saubere Toiletten! Essen wie immer fantastisch, aber teuer. Sehr frisch und jeden € wert! Essen kam zeitig und war unglaublich lecker. Getränke auch sehr gut! Haben Nachschlag bestellt! Hatten Sushi zusammengestellt, Miso-Suppe und Salat! Kann nur weiterempfehlen!

The service could be better. There was only one girl attending all the tables on two floors. However, the food was executed perfectly. This was the juciest chicken I ever had. If we discuss the prices, they are fair for the quality provided. Regarding the toilette, it is a clean and meditative space. Overall, classy place.

Wir haben die große Platte nach Art des Küchenchefs bestellt. Die empfanden wir als wenig einfallsreich. Viel maki, viel nigiri. Da hatten wir für den Preis mehr erwartet. Geschmacklich und von der Frische war alles top. Wir werden aber beim nächsten mal wo anders hingehen. Preis/Leistung stimmen woanders mehr.

Das Sushi ist megalecker und wurde am Tisch toll und effektvoll serviert. Kleine Abstriche gibt es beim Service. Es hat, obwohl nicht sehr voll, recht lange gedauert, bis unsere Bestellung aufgenommen wurde, dann wurde leider ein Getränk zum Essen vergessen und man hatte auch nicht die Gelegenheit, nochmal daran zu erinnern, da sich die ganze Zeit niemand mehr vom Service blicken lies. Auch hätten wir ganz gern noch mehr getrunken, aber es gab leider keine Option, weitere Getränke zu bestellen. Aber ansonsten ein sehr schöner Ort mit sehr leckerem Essen…

Wer Sushi mag, wird das Sona lieben! Für uns war es der erste Besuch und sicher nicht der letzte. Wir waren im Rahmen unserer Weihnachtsfeier hier gelandet und unsere Mädels waren so begeistert, dass sie gerne wieder hier her möchten, um die anderen Sachen zu probieren. Die Speisekarte ist abwechslungsreich, die Qualität überragend und der Service sehr sympathisch und immer im rechten Moment zur Stelle. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit und können es sehr gern weiter empfehlen!

Für einen schönen Abend auf der Karli ist das Restaurant mehr als empfehlenswert. Der Service ist erstklassig. Die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter ist unbeschreiblich gut. Das Essen ein Genuss. Die Kreationen sind mehr als gelungen. Das Sona hat es geschafft, mich vom Sushi nachhaltig zu überzeugen. Ich komme sobald wie möglich wieder 😊

Im Sona gibt es wirklich das leckerste und hochwertigste Sushi. Das Ambiente ist super edel. Leider hatte uns der Service nachdem Platzieren vergessen - nichts desto trotz waren sie aber sehr freundlich!

Abholessen hat stark nachgelassen, Ente war nicht knusprig, sondern zäh, offensichtlich aufgewärmt und an der Oberfläche offensichtlich ausgetrocknet... Geht gar nicht

Wir waren als Familie im Sona und kamen leider etwas zu spät zu unserer Reservierung. Dadurch wurde unsere Bestellung als letztes bearbeitet und wir hatten eine lange Wartezeit von einer Stunde. Allerdings hat für mich die hervorragende Qualität der Speisen das Warten wieder wett gemacht! Außerdem hat sich die sehr freundliche Bedienung alle Mühe gegeben, unsere Wünsche zu erfüllen. Wunderbar das über den Tisch fließende Trockeneis! Es hat großen Spaß gemacht, unbekannte Speisen zu probieren! Ich komme sehr gerne wieder!
