Sombrero in Celle

Sombrero has been in Celle for 18 years. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is super friendly, and the atmosphere is great. 10/10.

The restaurant closes at 3 p.m., but you can't order anything after 2:15 p.m. I find that very disappointing. If they stop accepting orders that early, they should honestly adjust their opening hours.

I'm a dedicated regular and am truly satisfied every time. My recommendation for other vegetarians: Muchos Nachos, Quesadillas Fresco, or the vegetarian wrap! The tapas sampler is ideal for meat lovers dining with two people. You can try everything. Boris and his team create a great atmosphere every time and take great care of you. 🤗

They wouldn't let me in with my dog. They told me you could bring a small dog, but not a dog larger than 20 kg. And there was only one table occupied inside. There weren't many people where the dog could bother them. I asked if I could use the tables outside, and they also told me no. The receptionist attitude was very poor. I don't recommend it.

Very good service, friendly, cheerful, and prompt. Excellent taste! Price is a bit harder to rate. Top-notch food! Top-notch service! It's definitely worth it! No question! But I just don't want to pay €80 for two people for two drinks and one main course each. If you're willing to do that, you definitely can't go wrong here. Thanks in any case for the lovely evening.

I always give fair and honest reviews. Anyone familiar with my reviews knows that I usually give 4 or 5 stars when the service and price are right. Unfortunately, I have to significantly lower my previous 5-star rating for the Sombrero in Celle. This constant price gouging is simply incomprehensible. I was already annoyed last summer that the "Plato Rio Grande" had reached an unrealistic price, and now it's been raised again. The plate isn't even worth €25 by any stretch of the imagination. But it's been raised to €30.90 😤 It would be easier if the restaurant had a digital menu, so they wouldn't have to keep reprinting them. On top of that, the portions are getting smaller and smaller, and they're clearly skimping on ingredients. Price up, quality down—that's unacceptable. It's a shame, because we really enjoyed eating here. But the way things have developed, this was definitely the last time for my family and me.

The food was fantastic. Fresh ingredients and flavorful seasoning. The service was attentive and friendly. The homemade lemonade is also highly recommended.

We were here on a Thursday evening, and it was busy. Nevertheless, we received very friendly and prompt service. We were a group of six and felt very welcome. The menu is extensive, and we found the prices fair. There was always something for the vegetarians in the group. Everyone enjoyed their meal. From the extensive appetizer to the main courses, everything was perfect. Finally, we were recommended a very good tequila, and so we spent a fantastic evening at Sombrero. We'd love to come back (and hopefully soon).

We had dinner here today. For starters, we had nachos with and without cheese and chorizo, as well as guacamole and salsa dip. Very tasty. For main course, we shared the tapas sampler. There's something for everyone here, too. Not suitable for vegetarians (;-)). The ambiance is also nicely designed. The power outage was handled well by the staff. Small criticism: well-intentioned advice about the menu is helpful - but if it's repeated too often (are you sure you can do it? Are you sure????), you'll eventually end up eating with a guilty conscience. Which isn't something you should do with such delicious food :-). Prices are quite expensive, though. But still, here too. Good food deserves its price. Huge praise for the dips :-)!

After the last meeting in Celle, the e.on Solar team was hungry. So they went to a Mexican restaurant. Great service, delicious food, and the meat was medium-rare. We'd love to come back!

Celle itself is a great place. But the sombrero tops everything. Great staff. Even better food and drinks and the ambience was more than good too. We were there on a Friday evening and it was very busy. This suggests that you should reserve in advance.

Ate really tasty. The enchiladas Poller are very tasty, the quesadillas Pollo Mega are delicious and the guacamole is amazing. Nice ambience. The waiting time from ordering to eating was absolutely fine, considering the store was so full. We'd love to come back.

Today was the first time I wore a sombrero. First of all - I'll be back! We came as a larger group of 10. We received the menus and our drinks relatively quickly. The starter was huge and enough for several people, my dish from the lunch menu was completely sufficient and very filling. I also found it praiseworthy that all the dishes came one after the other and we were able to start eating together relatively quickly. The ambience is also very nice, the service is very friendly. Got a table on Saturday evening without a reservation. The waiter provided the best service I have ever received. I originally naively ordered a dish that was described as very spicy. The waiter pointed this out to me and brought me a bowl of the hot sauce and nachos to try. That was exactly right - I then decided on a slightly less spicy dish. That was a really great service! The food was great!

Vegetarian food is apparently not a matter of the heart here. We had the table buffet with 20 people and the three of us vegetarians sat down together and told the waiter about it. When it came to starters, we still got the same dishes as the meat eaters, with meat. For the main course we got the same thing as the others, but this time the meat was left out, so our pan was only half full. The main course consisted of a pan of roasted vegetables for 4 people and a plate of cheese and salad for each. There were also 4 tasteless pieces of dough that you had to twist together into a bag and fill with the remaining ingredients. Overall, the food was very sparingly seasoned for Mexican cuisine, and we vegetarians agreed that we would forego another visit until further notice.

Authentic Mexican cuisine. Ambience is excellent. Very well coordinated. Subtle authentic music in the background. Food really tasty and also authentic. The service and kitchen respond to the guests' wishes and are very accommodating. The only drawback is the parking situation. But that would be complaining on a high level, as a parking garage about 400m away offers enough space. Difficult to implement directly in front of the door because it is in the city center. All in all, highly recommended!

Funny restaurant, very friendly service. The food is inconsistent, the salads consist mainly of iceberg lettuce with a dollop of sour cream dip, I personally found the chicken wings over-seasoned and dry, the spare ribs were of normal quality, the chicken breast was excellent, the cocktails were also great. So overall good, the prices are ok.

Delicious mixed appetizer platter. Fast, friendly service. Price, as is now the case everywhere, is in the middle range instead of the lower range (hence -1*). Atmosphere/decoration perfect.

I have a disability, which is why I have a service dog/medical dog. I was rejected by the owner and told I was not allowed in the resturant with my service dog/medical dog. Disability discrimination, which I have not yet experienced in other German restaurants.

Simply delicious! It was our first time ever at a Mexican restaurant and the food was simply amazing, the staff was very friendly and the ambience was also very nice. We drank a few margaritas, which were also really tasty. The only problem is that you have to reserve really early (at least in the evening) because we wanted to reserve a table several times, but it was always fully booked. But that speaks for the store when it is constantly fully booked. We'd love to come back!

Viva la Mexico… after entering the restaurant you could have ended up in México… cool ambience and authentic furnishings. The choice of food is very large and there is something for every Mexican taste. Portions large and taste great. Very nice restaurant with delicious food and nice staff! We discovered it during a stopover on the way to the Baltic Sea and ate there again on the way home three weeks later. Everything perfect!

Were here for the first time and immediately loved it. Location beautifully located in the old town, parking garage in the immediate vicinity. The food was absolutely fantastic and reasonably priced. The waiter was quick and friendly, we were able to order quickly and the food didn't take long to arrive. Our daughter even got hers a little quicker. Overall we were very satisfied and would love to come back!

So first of all, the food is absolutely fantastic. We love the tapas platter and order it to pick up quite often. But...and now the big BUT...no one can ever be reached by phone, for whatever reason. I keep calling, letting it ring and then automatically hanging up because it rings for too long. Shortly afterwards I call and it's busy...it's nice that you don't want our money, but that's not possible. It would be a good idea to discuss at least one opening time and that perhaps no one is available at the moment or something like that. But sorry...customer service...0

We ordered the plate for 2 people and were happy with it. It could have been a little spicier but that's a matter of taste. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere is quaint and cozy. We went home full and happy :)

We were here on our city trip on July 16th. 24 eat. We chose the Sombrero because of the many good reviews. The restaurant is typically Mexican, just like it is everywhere in the country. The lamps whose lampshade is a sombrero are particularly original. The food was great and the service was very friendly and when a complaint was made, it was immediately responded to in a very friendly manner. We were very satisfied and can fully recommend the restaurant.

We were in the restaurant today with the family, service was very good, atmosphere was as you would expect from a Mexican restaurant, very nice, food was great! The boss (presumably) came to our table and explained some of the dishes in detail! (Of course only if the guest is receptive to it) Great, we were thrilled! The topic of tequila was also discussed in more detail, very informative! Everything is highly recommended, we will definitely be back! Thank you! 🙏🏻

Yesterday I was in this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience with a blonde waitress. The food was really good, but unfortunately the service ruined the entire visit. I received a bill of 34.40 euros and asked the waitress to round the amount up to 35 euros. She then responded with an indignant and loud “35 euros?!!!” and literally threw the card reader at me. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and has greatly tarnished the otherwise good impression of the restaurant. It's a shame that such a good meal was overshadowed by such poor service. I will probably avoid another visit in the future.

Very commendable and a flagship next to the kitchen. Unfortunately, it's damn loud when the store is full. There's usually nothing left to do except yell, otherwise you won't be able to understand your own words. Maybe. A structural change helps against noise transmission from neighboring tables to break the sound. Unfortunately, noise is also very grueling and stressful in the long run. If you have to wait longer for your food, that's great. Otherwise, parking on site is almost impossible because the store is in the city center. It's best to come on foot or by bike. It's better anyway because of the well-made cocktails. 😉

Ich wollte nach einem Gutschein zum verschenken fragen. Bevor ich überhaupt was sagen konnte, wurde pampig gefragt, ob ich denn reserviert hätte. Habe dann gemeint, „ich möchte nur gerne einen Gutschein“. Aussage: „dann bitte nur Barzahlung“. Ich hatte tatsächlich vor mit Karte zu zahlen und nicht genug Bargeld dabei. Als ich das erwähnte, wurde nur mit einer Geste weggewunken „Tschüss“ gesagt und weggedreht. Akzeptiere ja den Fakt, aber warum spricht man so mit unfreundlich mit Gästen/Besuchern?! Habe davor immer gern dort gegessen, aber deren Arroganz, hält mich und Familie, ab sofort fern von dem Laden
