Deeply disappointed! June should have been a special month for us – an occasion to celebrate, one we wanted to round off with a delicious meal. We chose a restaurant that we had fond memories of years ago, where we had enjoyed a wonderful culinary evening. This made our anticipation all the greater. But unfortunately, in the end, nothing but disillusionment remained. Despite midsummer temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius, we sat in the beer garden for over half an hour before anyone even bothered to take our drink orders. What came next was hardly worth mentioning: an Aperol – obviously pre-mixed – and without a single ice cube. The meal itself, unfortunately, was hardly any better. The starter soup was tasty. However, the duck was served in a sauce that seemed to consist almost entirely of fat – and was completely tasteless. The beef was accompanied by a mushroom sauce that tasted unpleasantly sour, almost musty. Enjoyment? None at all. Even more disappointing was the service. Not only at our table, but also all around, the staff was barely present and seemed overwhelmed and forgetful. An experience that overshadowed our entire stay. Particularly disconcerting: The chef insisted on loudly mocking other guests about "modern eating habits" – especially vegetarian preferences. In this day and age, this seems not only inappropriate, but downright disrespectful and unprofessional. There are many good reasons not to eat meat every day – and as a host, you should accept this, if not welcome it. When we finally expressed our disappointment, we were told that a confirmation had been taking place in the hotel at the same time – as an explanation for the poor service. But honestly, that doesn't change our overall impression. We're going home disappointed – and unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
