I haven't been to the market hall for a while. We actually wanted to go to Pound and Pence, but they had a closed society. So I gave Pignut BBQ, now Smoke and Barrel, another chance. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised. So, now to the actual review: Service Top. Not only were we asked for the vaccination certificate ikat, it was even scanned and checked for validity and also checked to see whether we were actually there. Eat: We ordered a mixed platter, 2x for 3 people, it was recommended to us (probably only small eaters come there). If I had been really hungry, I would have done it alone ;) Lousiana ribs: they were the best cooked, super tender, the meat fell off the bones, very good taste, without having to use a lot more BBQ sauce. The taste was very good. Chicken: was out, which wasn't really a bad thing. Baby Back Ribs: the baby backs were a little overcooked and a little too dry at the ends, but still tasted very good. Homemade sausages: they were ok, but not my cup of tea, but that's a matter of taste. Brisket was not on the plate. Side dishes: French fries, sweet potato fries and the coleslaw were delicious. For dessert we ordered two 300g beef brisket sandwiches. A little dry at the edge in places, a bit like burnt ends, but still juicy in the middle. All in all, the sandwiches were super tasty. Around 110€ for a BBQ for 3 people, not cheap, but still reasonable, therefore overall rating 4 stars. In any case, Smoke and Barrel will be a stop for me again. Pignut and Bigstuff BBQ scared me away with their concept. True to the motto: that doesn't exist anymore and that's over (and that at lunchtime). Update: always felt closed

We had the brisket and the ribs. Both were great. So we will definitely be back. One of the better ones I ate in Berlin.

Absolutely fantastic! The service is exceptional, the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended. The staff were so friendly, and less us know the origins of the meat. They have a true passion and pride in what they do, and is shows magnificently.

This BBQ restaurant not only delights the taste buds but also pleases the eyes. According to the website and notice, open from 12 p.m., still closed at 1 p.m. It doesn't work at all.

Have never felt on. They probably earn too much! The food is tasty, but it really annoys me that this restaurant is almost never open when I have time. Update: You are currently in the market hall and you are closed again. It says open until 9 p.m., now it's 5:36 p.m.

The last time the only good thing was the pulled pork burger. There was almost everyhing finished.

Für die Gegend ein echtes Highlight! Der Service ist auch echt mega und das geilste ist wenn jemand Bock hat auf eine ganz andere Richtung gibt es einfach mal 3 Restaurants in einem und man kann so wählen und auf Fisch oder italienische Speisen wählen. Mega cooles Konzept, nur etwas kalt in der Halle

Dank meinem Besuch hier weiß ich jetzt, dass ich eher die Babyribs mag, weil da das Fleisch noch etwas zärter und fettärmer ist. Nichtsdestotrotz waren meine Ribs perfekt so wie sie waren. Der Service war nett und freundlich. Manko: alle Tische haben gewackelt und es war generell etwas zugig.

Wahnsinnig zarte und echt gute Spare Ribs, jedoch etwas lau und rasch kalt. Super leckerer Mais auch wenn ein bisschen sehr süß. Gutes Kreuzberger Bier, besonders das dunkle. Man sitzt ganz nett in der Markthalle. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und unterhaltsam

Das Essen ist wirklich einzigartig und empfehlenswert. Das Fleisch habe ich selten so gut gegessen und der Service ist top. Allen denen ich den Laden empfohlen haben waren sehr zufrieden :)

Unfortunately, the meat was extremely dry. You can understand a higher price for good meat, but the cookery let it down. Sides were fine. Service was good.

Essen ist ganz okay, Service ist erbärmlich. Rund einmal pro Jahr gebe ich dem Laden seit 2016 eine Chance und jedes mal dauert alles ewig, die Bedienung behauptet jedes mal erst seit ein paar Tagen hier arbeiten, Sachen werden vergessen und am Ende kramt er absichtlich ewig im Geldbeutel nach Rückgeld bis man sagt "passt so". Leider riecht die Markhalle manchmal auch echt unhygienisch nach Speiseabfällen.

Leider sehr trockene Rippchen, die nur zu essen waren weil man 5 verschiedene Saucen in Quetschflaschen bekommen hat. Die Porkbelly Burnt Ends für die ich gekommen bin, waren leider keine wirklichen amerikanischen Burnt Ende die rund um mariniert und lange gesmoked wurden. Die Bedienung war dafür super freundlich und lustig!

Great St. Louis Ribs, sides and great service.

Damn good BBQ! I've been trying to find a great BBQ place and I finally found it. I tried the Big John and the brisket sandwich with barbecue sauce. The flavors remind me of home so I highly recommend them. Beware, the Big John is rather large.

Amazing barbecue and great beer (IPA on tap is delicious) for a good price and in a great atmosphere. Both times we went so far the waiters have been friendly and fast too! 5/5 easily!

Hier passt alles. Angefangen beim Service, Geschmack bis hin zum Ambiente. Das gesmokte Fleisch war zart und ist so zerfallen, wie ich es mir wünsche. Die Süßkartoffel-Pommes waren bis zum Schluss knusprig.

Wir hatten einen Burger mit Pullet Pork und der war oberlecker. Viel zartes Fleisch mit leckerer Souce. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Alles ging sehr zügig. Sehr zu empfehlen!!! Gerne wieder! Guten Appetit!

It seems to me like a lot of the more negative reviews are from too long ago to be a fair representation of the current kitchen and service. The menu is extensive (which is aggressive for any BBQ joint anywhere) but carried out impressively well. The best wings, and perhaps only smoked wings, I’ve had in Berlin and also some of the better sweet potato fries. They serve the only Alabama white sauce in Berlin, the perfect pairing for a smoked chicken. Not to mention, the service from Aleks went above and beyond 5 stars. I’ll be back!

Ich habe noch nie so eine gute Fleischplatte gegessen. Absolut empfehlenswert

Ich habe hier immer sehr gerne bestellt oder vor Ort gegessen. Die letzte Lieferung war aber leider nicht genießbar. Es landete fast alles im Müll und das für 35€. Cracker und Cheese: eine Käsesuppe mit Keksen und beim Brisket und den Beans war die Verpackung verdreckt und mit Fliegen verklebt.

Regarding previous Saturday. The food was delicious. The dressings and side dishes fit perfectly one with each other in complete harmony of taste. As for the service i was very pleased! **not recommended for those on the way of being Vegetarians. The temptations are irresistible.

Después de un tiempo visité Pignut para comer costillas y pechuga. Y todavía saben cómo hacer eso. Sin duda, uno de los mejores de Berlín cuando se habla de barbacoa. Y también forma parte de este maravilloso ambiente relajado en el Arminius Markthalle. Quizás no sea el mejor lugar para una calurosa noche de verano, pero sí un lugar perfecto para el otoño y el invierno.

Die Markthalle ist sehr gemütlich, es gibt viele Plätze und eigentlich sehen alle Restaurants sehr gut aus. Wir haben uns für das Pignut BBQ entschieden und wurden definitiv nicht enttäuscht. Ich hatte den Big John der mit 18.90€ sicher kein Schnäppchen ist. Dafür macht er aber einen hart arbeitenden, kräftigen Handwerker satt. Mein Kumpel hat sich für das Pulled Pork Sandwich entschieden und ist auch nicht hungrig nachhause gefahren. Das Fleisch hätte noch etwas weicher und saftiger sein können. Der Service war unaufdringlich, freundlich und schnell. Besonders gefreut hat es uns, dass es keine "Hipster" Getränke gab sondern normale Coke, Hausgemachte Limonade und mit Kreuzberger Tag, ein richtig gutes Bier. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr lecker, gute Qualität, freundliches Personal. Achtung! Die Mixed Platter für 2 könnte für 3, wenn nicht sogar 4, Personen sein. Der Preis für zwei beträgt 27€ pro Person (nicht für zwei und dann gesplittet). Ist es aber echt wert - man kriegt mehr als man denkt. Ich komme wieder. Empfehlenswert

Delicious brisket and large portions (although the price reflect the portion size). The creamed corn was a lot more creamy/watery than I expected (more like a cream of corn soup, but salty). Would love to have a spicy bbq sauce option.

Wir waren enttäuscht. Die Beilagen waren zwar gut, aber die Rips zum Teil trocken und ohne rauchigen Geschmack. Man hat eigentlich nur die Soße geschmeckt.

Sehr leckeres, authentisches Amerikanisches Pulled pork!

Very good food. Mid-ranged prices. Huge portions.

No problem getting seats on a Saturday evening. Got the St. Louis ribs and chicken leg - very solid food with finger licking good sauces. Loved the sides esp the beans with pulled pork. Very nicely smoked and seasoned. Price wise think it’s value for money given the quality and size of the meal. I don’t love the Markthalle seating but can’t penalize for that.

Waren dort anstatt zu bestellen, hatten aber nicht gesehen dass es in einer Markthalle ist. Das Flair muss man mögen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, das Essen aber eher Mittelmäßig. Pulled pork war aus, was uns die Dame die uns bedient hat aber auch direkt mit der Begrüßung gesagt hatte. Cranberry limo gab es leider auch nicht, womit mein Menü der Wahl schon mal vergriffen war. Aber die Auswahl sonst war recht breit gefächert. Ich hatte ein brisket Sandwich mit Käse. Insgesamt eine relativ fettige Angelegenheit und sehr satt machend. Sehr positiv fand ich dass anstelle des coleslaw, der im Menü mit den Sandwiches steht auch Pommes genommen werden konnten ohne Aufpreis. Meine Freundin hatte das pulled chicken sandwich und war auch nicht begeistert, ihr war es zu Trocken. Insgesamt haben wir für Essen und Getränke 31€ bezahlt. Für das Ambiente und den grad an Zufriedenheit ein wenig zu teuer für unseren Geschmack.

Klein aber fein😀 War zwar nur eine kleine Auswahl an Speisen aber die waren großartig. Super zarte Rinderbrust und die Rippchen sind auch sehr sehr lecker gewesen.

This is easily one of the best restaurants in Berlin. The brisket had proper char and moist inside. Pulled pork easily melts in your mouth. Chicken wings parted with their bones easily. But for me the best part has to be the bbq sauce. Never in my life have I ever had such wonderful bbq sauce.

After reading the most recent reviews, I have to say that my experience was much better than what were stated (went on Saturday lunch). I had the beef brisket with coleslaw and sweet potato fries. They tasted really good and I was very satisfied. The ambiance of the place was really nice and hip. Service was also very quick! The pricing was a bit on higher than other stores in the Moabit district but the portion can be shared. I can see myself coming back to this place!

Hmmm, war wohl mal Gut. Das Positive. Personal schnell und sehr freundlich. Portionen sind gut und reichlich. Die sweet potato Fries sind knusprig gewesen. Leider hätten die Ribs noch etwas gebraucht. Waren doch ganz schön chewy. Dabei aber teilweiße schon trocken. Und auch nicht gerade eine Geschmacksexplosion. BBQ Souce hat es etwas gefixed.

The food was okay. But for the price offered it was terrible. Firstly the baby back ribs were overcooked, chewy and dry. The bbq sauce that was on ribs was also super dry. The fries were very bland and felt like it was store bought frozen fries. Coleslaw on other hand was very good. The beer is good because they have some nice craft beers on offer.

Service war freundlich und schnell, das essen wie immer gut. Fleisch im Burger könnte wärmer sein aber es ändert nichts an der Sache, dass es uns gefallen hat. Craft Bier macht auch einen guten Unterschied. Ich verstehe die anderen Bewertungen nicht, bei uns hat immer alles gepasst. #unabhängig

They wouldn’t let us sit down to feed our baby all because brunch was still going for 15 minutes. Even though we were definitely going to eat there and there were two tables free. Seriously?

I had the baby back ribs and they were so tender the meat fell off the bone... But they put a ranch pepper sauce over the ribs for decoration/color... ? I'm not sure what the culinary term is lol... But just a heads up. They speak English and the small staff is friendly

I'm sure the food is delicious but they need to have more on floor staff. 50 minute wait for a beer, not even food is too long. Also, racist and rude attitude of the waitress working is not ok. You're a BBQ restaurant: a food made out of the combo of Native American, European and African influences. What could be a better example of the advantage of diversity. Truly shameful behavior by a stressed and rude waitress. Enjoy if you will but if you are a person of color: take my advice, avoid.

Very good service, very good ribs. Try going here for lunch. The eralier you get here the fresher the ribs are. Definitely recommend it.

Bin normalerweise keine Fan von Rips und dergleichen. Aber es hat echt Mega gut geschmeckt. Preislich völlig in Ordnung. Das Bier ist auch süffig. Gerne komme ich hier nochmal zurück.

Burger echt enttäuschend, labriges,kaltes Briochebrötchen, Fleisch mit wenig Geschmack und Blattsalat (wozu, ke i ne Zwiebeln, Tomaten oder andere Vielfalt ) und ein Mini Coleslaw. Obendrein auch überteuert, jedenfalls für diese Qualität und Menge.

Die Bedienung war nett, der Pulled-Porc Burger war geschmacklich sehr neutral. Ich finde es schade, dass das Fleisch weder einene rauchige Note hatte, noch richtig gewürzt war. Man kann natürlich alles mit Saucen übertünchen, aber das ist meines Erachtens nicht Sinn der Sache. Ich habe lieber puren Geschmack. Der Coleslow war geschmacklich in Ordnung. Der Preis war auch okay. Ich habe es ausprobiert, brauche es aber nicht noch einmal.

Ausgezeichnete Ribs, saftiger Rinderbraten, schmackhafte Beilagen – rundum lecker. Klasse auch die Interaktion mit anderen Marktständen, denn Wein und Kaffee werden von woanders geholt. Sehr zu empfehlen!

NOT the best BBQ that I've had in Berlin, merely okay. Service was quite lacking and they did not honor our gift certificates (due to an ownership change) which I'm pretty sure is not legal since there was no expiration date and the brand is the same. Either way, we were left us with a bad experience and one of our friend's who ate with us puked by the end of the night...I will not go again - go to The Pit instead!

Ein super Ort um mit Freunden ein BBQ zu zelebrieren... ! Achtung die Portionen sind reichlich dimensioniert, will sagen teilen ist Trumpf. Nehmt die große Platte für zwei Personen und habt zu dritt Spass dran. P.S. und unbedingt ein Pulled Porc Sandwich dazu ... Daumen nach oben mit einem leckeren IPA Bier dazu... !

Wie schade! Bis vor kurzem waren wir fast wöchentlich hier und haben uns die Babyback ribs ordentlich schmecken lassen. Nun die böse Überraschung: Die Preise sind um fast 50% erhöht worden! Nicht sukzessive, sondern von einem auf den anderen Tag. Das heißt für uns ab sofort leider kein regelmäßiges Essen hier. Schade, denn wir waren immer gerne hier und fanden Service als auch Essen super. Leider waren die Rippchen diesmal nicht nur deutlich teurer sondern auch sehr sehr trocken. Das wird wohl vorerst das letzte Mal im Pignut für uns gewesen sein.
