Seit über zwanzig Jahren komme ich immer wieder und werde jedes Mal aufs Neue begeistert. Die Qualität, die das Shiva Jahr für Jahr liefert, ist für mich schlicht unerreicht. Das Kompliment gilt dabei ausdrücklich nicht nur dem großartigen Essen, sondern genauso den herzlichen Betreibern, die diesen Ort zu etwas wirklich Besonderem machen.

Sehr schmackhafte Speisen. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis

Mit Abstand bestes indisches Lokal in München! Ich finde vor allem die Tikka Gerichte unschlagbar gut und die Portionsgrößen super - Top Preis-Leistung! Das Lokal wird familienbetrieben, wodurch es sehr authentisch ist. Immer wieder gern!!

Geiler laden, gute Thali platte!

Ich gehe da nie wieder hin. Das Essen war unglaublich scharf, und ich musste 500 g Joghurt nachfüllen, weil mein Mund fast gebrannt hat. Ich glaube, ich werde die Schärfe noch drei Tage im Mund haben. Wenn du kein scharfes Essen magst, geh bloß nicht hin. Wenn du scharfes Essen liebst, bist du hier genau richtig.

Mein absolutes Lieblingslokal und auch in den Augen meiner Familie das beste indische Restaurant Münchens! Das Essen schmeckt fantastisch, das Lokal ist sehr gemütlich und die Atmosphäre familiär, persönlich und fröhlich. Absolute Empfehlung!

Das Shiva Restaurant bietet authentische indische Küche mit hervorragendem Geschmack. Der Inhaber, Aadhi, ist sehr freundlich und fragte persönlich nach meinen Gewürzvorlieben, was ich sehr zu schätzen wusste. Ich bestellte Butter Chicken, und es war perfekt gewürzt und überhaupt nicht süß. Im Gegensatz zu vielen Restaurants in München, wo alles gleich schmeckt und viel zu süß ist, fühlt sich das Essen hier echt und hausgemacht an. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Der Besitzer (Adhi) gibt immer sein Bestes! Meiner Meinung nach ist es das beste indische Essen in München und die schlechten Kommentare sind wirklich unangebracht.

Ich habe zwar nicht alle indischen Restaurants in München ausprobiert, aber von den vielen, die ich kenne, kann ich mit Sicherheit sagen, dass Shiva zu den besten gehört. Ich komme schon seit Jahren hierher und es war immer hervorragend. Das Essen wird authentisch indisch zubereitet und nicht an den europäischen/deutschen Geschmack angepasst. Die Tikka-Gerichte sind ein absolutes Muss und werden dampfend heiß in der Pfanne serviert. Ansonsten gibt es eine große Auswahl an anderen Hauptgerichten, die ich alle wärmstens empfehlen kann. Wenn Sie kein Reisfan sind, probieren Sie das Naan-Brot; meine Favoriten sind Butter-Naan und Keema-Naan. Der Service ist freundlich und das Interieur versprüht indisches Flair, ohne protzig zu wirken. Die Außenterrasse ist farbenfroh, einladend und gemütlich.

Tolles Restaurant. Es sieht schlicht aus, aber das Essen ist fast schon Sterneküche. Freundliche Besitzer. Guter Service. Leute, fühlt euch frei, hier zu essen! Köstliche indische Küche (und nicht zu kitschig). Einfach perfekt! 👍🏻

Leider hat die Qualität nachgelassen und der Geschmack ist sehr fad geworden. Hatten das Essen als take away. Dafür ist das Essen dann deutlich zu teuer.

Rated 5 not because it's the best Indian food I've ever had but it deserves to be in the 4.5 filter. It currently stands at 4.4. Also the personnel is friendly!

The food here was by far the best I've had in Munich. I didn't observe best in class hospitality but the reception was warm. The atmosphere was pleasant and music not so loud. Paneer was fresh and the spice level was to me perfect. It was clear that they were cooking the dishes fresh and not just reheating which you often see Indian restaurants in Munich do. What perhaps put me off a little was their response when I enquired by phone if they were open. I asked the person on the other end if he spoke English or Hindi to which he responded he only knew Urdu. Given how similar Hindi and Urdu are I wondered if this declaration was necessary . The walls were strewn with photos of Hindu deities, moreover. I even felt we shouldn't go as I felt the tone was rude and callous. I've seen other reviews highlighting potential racism and while I can't qualify them, I can't dismiss them either based on my experience. Overall if all you care about is good food, this place won't disappoint.

I clearly asked whether the food was really vegan because there were two different pieces of information on the menu. Either milk was actually used or ghee. I don't know it. In any case, I had a massive rash on my eyes the next morning. This is what happens when I eat animal products. Can definitely not recommend the restaurant!

Great Indian. Delicious food and something for everyone on the menu. Rice can be reordered at any time. Friendly service and really good value for money. The only drawback: I didn't feel full despite the starter - the portion could have been a little larger. This always annoys me personally. Otherwise great.

Vine al restaurante con un grupo de amigos con grandes expectativas, lamentablemente todos decepcionados. La comida era mediocre y definitivamente demasiado caro para lo que se ofrece. Pero lo peor fue definitivamente el servicio, lento y con personal bastante grosero. Por ejemplo, al echar encima de nuestra ropa algunas salsas (evidentemente un error, sin embargo con algún perjuicio económico) , ni siquiera se disculparon por ello. Definitivamente no es recomendable si buscas una cena relajante fuera de casa.

I came to the restaurant with a group of friend with high expectations, unfortunately all disappointed. The food was mediocre and definitely too expensive for what offered. But the worst part was definitely the service, slow and with personnel quite rude. For example, when throwing on top of our clothes some sauces (obviously a mistake, nevertheless with some economic damage), they didn´t even apologise for it. Definitely not recommended if you´re looking for a relaxing dinner outside home.

Andiamo andiamo Shiva is one of the best Indian restaurants in munich. Really liked the mango curry and the chicken tika. Great vibe and small restaurant. Italian artist and greatest rapper Shiva brought me to this place. Gracie a me Gracie a dio alleluia. Also kind staff and good service .

Personal favorite restaurant, Because it is very cozy and everything is made with love! We've been going there for 10 years and even after trying other restaurants, none taste like this. A real gem in Munich!

I have yet to come across a better Indian Cuisine Style kitchen in all of Munich.

We (my girlfriend and I) ate at the Shiva restaurant in Munich today and would like to share our experience. The good things first... unfortunately our main course was served before the starters, but you can't fault the taste of the food. The curry was delicious and the starters were crispy. But let's get to the crux of the matter... the behavior of the waitress towards my girlfriend. No smiles, no questions about whether the food was tasty and in general she was more or less completely ignored. I have never experienced anything like this before and I still have the question of “why”? In conclusion, it can be said that the good food unfortunately couldn't save the evening and we won't be coming back. Too bad!

The food was consistently very tasty. Everything was super seasoned and aromatic. Service was friendly and not intrusive. The garden outside could be a little more comfortable. Prices are ok.

First time trying Indian food with my mom. I think i got the Chicken Masala, rice and paratha. And when I tell you it tasted SO delicious. I can't stop thinking about the next time I'll go here again cuz I definitely would. The couple running the restaurant are EXTREMELY nice and they give a very homie atmosphere and ask if everything's fine with you from time to time. This is really a place for be, so don't be hesitant to try this restaurant as it's GOOD 😊💖

The food was really stale...I had ordered Butter chicken and the chicken was rotten and had a foul odour. When i informed them very politely they were arguing that it's not a normal butter chicken this is the authentic one which spoiled my whole night in washroom. Really AUTHENTIC

Gute indische Küche in einem kleinen Restaurant in der Augustenstrasse. Zu Mittag gegessen, Mittagskarte, Lamm Masala. Das Gericht hatte eine schöne Würze, genau richtig von der Schärfe her, dazu gekochten Reis. Guter Service, der Chef bediente persönlich, Preise ok, vom Stil her ist dann doch mehr Wirtshaus als posh. Klare Empfehlung für jeden der ein unkompliziertes indisches Restaurant sucht.

This place is super underrated. I visited from Seattle, and have a very high bar for Indian food. We tried the Dal Makhani, Chicken Vindaloo, Dal Tadka, Garlic Naan, Rice, Laccha Paratha, Palak Paneer. Everything on the table was very memorable. I never expected to find this level of quality in Munich of all places. Spicy by Indian standards, flavorful, excellent and fast service (our waiter was very kind and made us feel like we were invited to someone’s home). Highly recommend! So cheap too, this meal should easily be worth 1.5-2x. Spent €80 for 5 people.

Auf Empfehlung von Freunden mit ihnen da gewesen. Sehr herzlicher und freundlicher Empfang. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl aufgehoben. Es hat zwar über eine Stunde gedauert, bis wir unser Essen bekamen, aber dafür war es wirklich sehr gut. Jeder von uns Vieren hat seinen individuellen Schärfegrad bekommen. Ich komme sicher wieder hierher und kann dieses Restaurant wärmstens weiter empfehlen.

This restaurant offers variable vegan dishes based on lentils, chickpeas or vegetables served with rice. I highly recommend the Okra vegetables with a red sauce and mild spiciness induced by some aromatic chili (mixed-in) and a tiny chili on top so one can choose to add more hot flavor. The atmosphere is as well cosy and sophisticated. Reminder for vegans: Don't assume Chai as simple tea with spices, it is sweetened and based on cow's milk. ;) (yet the restaurant offers a tasty one, I reckon as of high quality)

Wir gehen hier schon Jahrzehnte essen. Es ist gleichbleibend HERVORRAGEND. Nicht mal in Indien, haben wir so gut gespeist. Sehr freundlich wird man bedient, die authentischen Gerichte sind außergewöhnlich lecker. Heute gehen bereits unsere erwachsenen Kinder mit ihren Kindern ins Shiva. Ein Highlight in München.

Essen war gut aber nicht herausragend. Portionen eher klein. Service leider nicht vorhanden - meine Freundin saß zwei Stunden vor ihrem leeren Glas, der Kellner war verschwunden. Beim Bezahlen gab es dann eine mürrische Reaktion, weil wir getrennt zahlen wollten. Sowas kann ich nicht nachvollziehen.

Sehr höfliche Bedienung. Essen sind stets sehr lecker, wenn auch nicht herausragend. Eher für deutsche Gaumen. Das Chicken Dal kann ich empfehlen.

Ich war früher öfter hier und habe immer recht gut gegessen. Nicht sensationell gut, aber angesichts des Preis-Leistungsverhältnisses war es in Ordnung, Nach Jahren dieselbe Location fast unverändert vorzufinden, war überraschend, aber das Essen hat mich nicht mehr überzeugt. Meine Soße schmeckte ähnlich wie die meines Mannes, vage nach Curry, aber ohne Aromenvielfalt und war ein dicker, zäher Brei. Lieblos zubereitet, würde ich sagen. Willkommen fühlten wir uns auch nicht, eher wie lästige Ansinnensteller, die man mit Missachtung bedenkt.

Super freundliches und liebevoll eingerichtetes, authentisches indisches Restaurant. Waren zur Silvester Nacht im Shiva und wurden freundlich empfangen. Haben uns für 3 Fleischgerichte ( 1davon aus dem Tandoori) entschieden. Alle 3 Speisen waren super lecker, Reis konnte problemlos nachbestellt werden.

Pequeño y encantador café. El Pollo Tikka Masala era de el mejor que he tenido! Un montón de jengibre, pero me gustó eso! Gran Chai también! Me comí un plato de lentejas como bien pero no me gustó que como mucho.

Das Shiva ist ein kleines mit allem Kitsch ausgestattetes indisches Restaurant, das es an dieser Stelle schon seit viiieelen Jahren gibt. Da kann man den Alltag mal vergessen. Die Speisen sind durchweg lecker und von guter Qualität. Aber eine kleine Renovierung bei den sanitären Anlagen wäre mal toll.

Das Shiva ist ein kleines, etwas kitschig eingerichtetes Lokal. Obwohl ich die Einrichtung persönlich etwas übertrieben finde, fühle ich mich jedesmal, wenn ich da esse wohl. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und der Service immer nett und gastfreundlich. Für große Gesellschaften eher ungeeignet, aber für 2-4 Personen perfekt, um einen leckeren Indischen Abend zu verbringen. Die Preise sind absolut fein für die großen Portionen.

Service: Keine Spur von Herzlich- oder Freundlichkeit, Zustand der Toiletten unter aller Sau das Essen sehr fettig und schlecht gewürzt. Ich für meinen Teil werde dieses Restaurant sicher kein zweites Mal aufsuchen in doch (mein Tipp) beim Indian Villge bleiben...

I have been eating here for over 20 years. I read some reviews describing the food as bland or oily, although most of the reviews are positive. I cannot understand the "bland" or "oily" at all. I think every place will have good days and bad days, but I can say, after numerous visits to Shiva, that they seem to have mainly good days. The food is very tasty, and it is definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in Munich to date. The service is always good, actually excellent (but I am a regular. Still, it was good before I was as well). I can only recommend this restaurant. It is on the spicy side - which I love - so if the "safe" Indian food (not all that spicy hot) is what you are looking for, let them know ahead of time.

Als Indienliebhaber und -kenner haben wir uns in diesem kleinen Restaurant sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Thali mit Huhn, Ente und Lamm bot sehr unterschiedliche, allesamt sehr wohlschmeckende Geschmacksrichtungen. Sehr freundlicher Service durch den Inhaber des Lokals.

Das Papadam und die Soßen waren sehr lecker :) Wir hatten ein Hähnchengericht und ein Lammgericht. Beides hat sehr ähnlich geschmeckt. Das Lammgericht war nur etwas säuerlicher. Aber beides war lecker, aber kein besonderes Highlight. Zum Nachtisch gab es dann als Deko Sprühsahne. Der Kellner war freundlich aber nicht sonderlich herzlich. Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es für die dreckige Tischdecken und die Sprühsahne.

Gut für tandoori chicken, saucenbasierte Gerichte aber nur leicht überm Münchner Durchschnitt, wobei rogan josh schon ganz gut ist ;)

In München eines meiner indischen Lieblings-Restaurants! Es ist klein, sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und bietet sehr leckeres indisches Essen an, mittags günstige Menüs. Der Service ist gut, die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich.

Shiva, although very small in size lies among the best Indian restaurants in Munich. Saying that, I must remind the readers that the Indian restaurants in Munich are generally quite ordinary in terms of quality and authenticity. Nevertheless, Shiva offers a cozy place with an extremely humorous owner/waiter (sarcastic). I would recommend the Kheema paratha (one of the best in town), bhuna gosht and peeli dal. Good value for money.

Shiva serves solid Indian food in good portions and with great service. Maybe not the best Indian food you'll ever have, but if you're in the area it's a sure stop. Reservations recommended!

Everytime we go there, we are not disappointed. The place itsself does not look so inviting, but try the food and you will be convinced and will come back. In the summertime you will find some seats to sit outside. Recommendation!

We were here for lunch and ordered from the Mittagskarte. The quantity was just right and the taste typical Indian. One trick that we have realised is that you tell the cook to make it the Indian way. We ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Masala and Veg Korma along with Garlic Naan and simply loved it. The price for the afternoon is also quite decent and this makes the entire offering attractive. Recommended!
