SHATO am See in Karlsfeld

The location is fantastic – right on the lake. Everything else is completely unacceptable. The ambiance is dingy, chaotic, and lifeless. Right by the entrance is a cabinet full of Islamic literature. Seriously, what's that doing in a restaurant?!? The food is inedible – most of it was deep-fried, even the currywurst. Appetizers, salads, dips – everything looked old and stale. The pide was frozen solid, just reheated. Nothing that came to the table was freshly prepared. The food here had nothing in common with the delicious, fresh Turkish cuisine I know. The service is another disaster. These people (of Turkish descent, who are naturally very hospitable) have absolutely no clue about the business. The garden was practically empty, yet we still had to wait 15 minutes to order. Far too long. There was complete disorganization – one overwhelmed woman took orders, while two others stood behind her chatting amongst themselves. ... A very unfriendly man was walking around delivering food. He had no idea what was going on, going from table to table without any plan, and constantly mixing up the dishes. We waited 45 minutes for a bit of fried vegetables, fried sausage with pre-made dips, soggy fried fries, and a pide—not fried, but reheated and lukewarm. Prices. Almost €60 for two people for this terrible meal. Self-service!!! A restaurant in such a fantastic location should be packed on such a hot day. This wasn't the case, which speaks volumes. All in all—not worth a single euro. My first and last visit to this restaurant. Addendum on October 4, 2023: I expected exactly this response. This seems to be your style—unprofessional and unreflective. I repeat, you have no clue about the restaurant business. You've proven this not only with the bad food and poor customer service, but also with your reaction to legitimate criticism. P.S. I have no problem with Islam, however, such blatant displays of religion have no place in a restaurant. You run a restaurant, not a mosque. You're clearly misunderstanding something.

When I asked the bartender to pour a little more beer into the glass, which was already half full, he explained that the foam only needed to reach the measuring line and that I couldn't wait that long... However, I would have to wait a very long time for the food, which I had paid for in advance. The delivery time was announced to be 15 minutes, but when it still hadn't arrived after 40 minutes and three requests, I left.

A wonderful and welcoming team treated us to exquisite cuisine at reasonable prices. A wonderful ambiance right on the lake. We'd be happy to return anytime!

There's a great view of the lake here, and the food is really good; you should try everything. Not everything is to everyone's taste, but we always try something new and are always surprised by how good Turkish cuisine is. Unlike the beer garden next door, the Aperol is freshly prepared with all the original ingredients, and they add a fresh orange. Great value for money! In the summer, they offer frozen glasses of beer...where else can you find something like that? So, TOP from us.

I'd like to specifically highlight him. He's the heart of this place. With his incredibly friendly, courteous, and authentic manner, he makes you feel immediately welcome. You can tell he's truly passionate about his job—friendly, helpful, and always with a smile on his face. You really get the feeling he runs the place! And in the best possible way. His professionalism, organizational skills, and interactions with guests are exceptional; he transforms a pleasant visit into an unforgettable experience. A huge compliment to the entire team, but especially to the gentleman at the kiosk. Without him, Shato wouldn't be what it is. We'll definitely be back!

Disastrous 💥 The food is bad and exorbitantly expensive, unfriendly, and they try to cheat even the smallest customers. The boss and his wife are completely self-confident and are the lowest of the low. Sorry, but it has to be done.

A definite recommendation! Because it was too windy for us, we sat inside and had a very good lunch. The playground right next door was perfect for our 7-year-old to play on before and after lunch, which meant we adults could enjoy our meal in complete relaxation. :) We arrived very early and had our pick of tables. The food took a little longer than expected—probably because the kitchen was just starting—but it was then very generous and tasted excellent. We really liked the colorful lights and the brickwork inside. We'll definitely be back!

We often go to Karlsfelder See. But now a 0.2 l of house wine costs €6.80. Addendum March 20, 2025 Vila Doluca now costs €5.80 for a well-poured quarter. That's absolutely fine. But the service is still very slow.

We stayed at Shato am See at the end of February where we really enjoyed it. We had a huge cold appetizer plate with dips and pide on the side. Then a platter with different types of meat (lamb, beef and poultry) and fries. Everything we ate was freshly prepared and very tasty. The Shato is beautifully located right on the lake. When the weather is nice, it's great to spend a few nice hours outside. Ismail the owner and all the staff are super friendly and attentive. Yesterday on August 4th we had a celebration with 30 people. The boss had discussed the selection of the buffet with us in advance. Every single meal was excellent, fresh and tasted like a dream. Everyone in service was very attentive, friendly and very nice to our small children. The location with the view of the lake is very nice. There is a playground for the children in the immediate vicinity. Many thanks to the boss and his team for a successful, perfect day. We would all love to come back.

A big compliment to the kitchen. This is the third time I've had the shrimp pan. Very very tasty. Always fresh with changing vegetables. Excellent. The chicken with vegetables in bread dough is also great. Full ease recommendation. Very good food with a lake view, what more could you want.

The karaoke evenings recently have been phenomenal! It makes you look forward to summer. Great service, great wine spritzer, top top. Food very authentic.

Like on vacation!!! Hospitality and food at its finest! Very warm service, always a kind word and a joke to accompany your meal! Outside with a view of the lake it's sensational, like a vacation, you don't have to fly far away :). There is also a pleasant atmosphere in the guest room with very comfortable chairs. Well and the food... prepared with love and warmth that you can almost taste. This is a must for anyone who goes to Lake Karlsfelder, but be careful, it is addictive :)

We went to Shato for brunch today. The selection was great, the service was very nice and the food was very tasty - at a really reasonable price (17.90 per person including tea and coffee). We were there with small children, there were high chairs, a changing area and as a surprise for the little ones there was even a portion of fries for free. We can fully recommend shato and look forward to our next visit :-)

Das Essen ist sehr gut. Aber konnte besser organisiert sein Schade...denn gibt grosses Potential durch der perfekte Lage.. Trotzdem lohnt sich dort zu essen :-)

Wir sind lange nicht hierher gegangen, weil uns die relativ schlechten Bewertungen abgeschreckt haben. Bis uns Freunde erzählt haben, dass sie sehr zufrieden waren dort. Wir haben uns für das Buffet am Abend entschieden um möglichst viel zu probieren. Es war wirklich ALLES sehr, sehr gut. Das Essen könnte vielleicht 3-4 Grad heißer sein, aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau. Der Kellner, ich nehme an der Wirt, ist eine Granate. Lustig, zuvorkommend und immer auf Zack. Das Ambiente ist wirklich gemütlich und schön. Also wir kommen gerne wieder.

Einer der besten Buffet Essen in Dachauer Umland. Bin jede Woche da und ist immer sehr lecker!

BEWERTUNG NUR DES KIOSKS: Der Kiosk des SHATO ist auf den ersten Blick in Ordnung. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit (dafür zwei Sterne). ABER: Die Preise sind teilweise übertrieben hoch. So zahlt man für eine CapriSun 1,90€ oder für einen Tee 3,50€ (ein wenig Wasser mit einem Teebeutel von Meßmer). Das ist mit Verlaub viel zu viel. Jetzt könnte man über die Preise noch irgendwie hinwegsehen, wenn der Service stimmen würde. Aber nein, in diesem Kiosk wird im Zeitlupentempo gearbeitet, was dazu führt, dass man gut und gern 15 - 20 min in einer Schlange wartet, die nur aus 8 Personen besteht. Das geht gar nicht.

TOP TOP TOP! Lage: TOP! Essen: TOP! Personal: TOP! Egal ob vor Ort im Restaurant, zum Mitnehmen oder im Biergarten, Essen super, Bedienung teilweise persönlich vom Chef und super schnell. Immer wieder gern!!

Man muss immer sehr lange anstehen. In der Warteschlange geht nichts vorwärts, egal wie viele Leute vor einem anstehen.

Eigentlich sind wir immer gern hingegangen, das Essen ist gut, vor allem die Pides schmecken wirklich lecker. Aber, wie letztes Jahr auch schon, ist es wieder so, dass man die Toilette nicht benutzen darf, weil angeblich defekt, und dass den ganzen Sommer lang!! Wir werden hier sicher keinen Euro mehr ausgeben, solange dieses Schild vor der Tür steht. Toiletten sind zugänglich, Essen wirklich sehr gut!

Sehr gutes türkisches Essen. Für diesen Ort des Restaurants am Ufer des Sees. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder hierher kommen.

Grundsätzlich eine wunderbare location direkt am See mit nettem Biergarten. Das Essen war bisher auch immer gut und im normalen Betrieb läuft der Service super! Einmal im Jahr ist auf dem Siedlerfest am See Feuerwerk, so wie gestern und mit voranschreiten des Abends werden die Schlangen immer länger (Wartezeiten 1h+) und die bezahlte Bestellung meines Mannes wurden komplett vergessen (Geld gab's zurück). Einfach nur traurig bei einem Event, dass alle Jahre wieder kommt...

Türkisch essen an der frischen Luft, mit Blick auf den See, schöner gehts nicht ....... Etwas Geduld muß man haben, aber es lohnt sich ...... mein Favorit ist die gefüllte Aubergine ...... oder für Vegetarier Gemüse im Tontopf, sieht gut aus und schmeckt auch so

Schöne Lage am See, Essen jedoch eher durchschnittlich. Lange Wartezeiten, chaotische Organisation. Fürs Gebotene passen die aufgerufenen Preise für mich einfach nicht zusammen.

Eigentlich ist es ein großer Kiosk, an dem groß und klein alles bekommt, was einen Tag am See perfekt macht. To go or to sit, ganz wie man möchte. Und uneigentlich ist das ein türkisches Restaurant mit einer sehr großen Auswahl landestypischen Speisen in Kombination mit Currywurst, Wiener Schnitzel und Pommes. Punktabzug gibt es beim Beilagensalat - das geht besser. Schaut mein Bild an und entscheidet selbst!

Super freundliches Personal und die vegetarische köfke war ein Gedicht. Noch nie sowas tolles vom Geschmack und Gewürzen gegessen. Portion ausreichend !Natürlich möchte man mehr weil es unglaublich lecker ist, aber passt leider nicht mehr im Magen. Super lecker und wirklich ein Genuss
