Shaniu's House of Noodles in Berlin

I don't know if I am generally not the person for Chinese food (if it's always like this) or if I just don't like this place specifically too much. The food we ordered was waaay too oily! We had the Tan Tan noodles and the eggplant with minced meat and especially the latter was basically swimming in oil. My stomach felt really bad afterwards. However, the waiter and waitress were really sweet and friendly. Yet, I would not go there again and don't think it's special.

What we got today was a total joke. We always liked to get something there, but lately there was always something missing. Portions fluctuate constantly and the portion today was an absolute disgrace. My son had crispy duck with fried noodles and the duck was so small for 15 euros. So it can be something, but we were just annoyed on our last two visits. I don't have a problem if the price increases, but the quality and portions shouldn't get smaller and worse. So I won't buy anything there anymore, I'm so annoyed.

Never disappointed. We've been regular customers for years and we'll stay that way. I don't really like tofu - it tastes fantastic here with salt and pepper. I'm not an eggplant fan here, I eat them every other visit TOP restaurant with a very lovely owner

Unbelievable. I had reserved a table but unfortunately I couldn't get there on time due to the train being late and I tried to call to let you know. I called 16 times and not once did anyone answer the phone. When I got there the table was of course gone, I explained the situation and the boss said the phone was broken, which couldn't be possible because 1. I had called a few hours earlier to reserve this table and the phone was still working and 2. A waitress said a few minutes later that no one had time to answer the phone. Lying to a customer's face is an outrage. In addition, we were then told that we would have to wait 15 minutes or that the three of us would have to squeeze into a two-person table outside, because the two people next to us (who didn't have a reservation, as they said) were seated at the large table inside because they were there earlier. So we were basically left standing there stupidly and had the option of squeezing into a mini table where there were a lot of other people sitting instead of the couple sitting at that one and us at the big one. :) I was so angry at how carelessly this situation was handled that we went somewhere else and I'm sure I won't try there a second time.

Me and my husband love the spicy dishes! I ordered mine with extra spicy and it’s really delicious! I would also recommend the iced jasmine tea. It’s refreshing after the spicy yummy dishes.

A small but nice restaurant where you can get very tasty Chinese dishes. Some of the dishes are also vegan. The dishes we tried all tasted extremely good! Price-performance ratio is definitely right here. The homemade drinks are also delicious and very refreshing.

We used to visit this place quite frequently. However, yesterday, we ordered a teriyaki chicken, but the sauce was salty and burnt, we ate 3 bites, but still they charged us half price of the dish. Instead of it, we ordered beef with onions, but the dish didn't have more than 4 small pieces of beef, still charged 15 EUR for this. It's very sad that we're not coming back to this place.

Ate the cold noodles with minced pork, the vegetarian noodles with mushrooms and broccoli with beef, and a morel salad as a starter. Everything was pretty disappointing, at the level of “I could have put it together myself in 15 minutes”, the morel salad in particular was really inedible.

Authentic Chinese noodle soup cuisine. Not a “hip” shop that suddenly serves mountains of pasta drowned in chili oil because it’s trendy. It's full, it's loud and it's delicious and the value for money is just really, really good. But above all, the people are really nice :) Real KungFu Panda vibes come up.

The place is popular, but the food is a bit blunt. I had to ask for chili, which was not on the table. Neither was soy sauce. The plane is also very noisy. The worst was a guitar player, which started playing some loud western music, only to collect money later for his unwanted performance. There are better similar places around!

You can have an inexpensive and delicious lunch. They have both Chinese and Korean food. It might be convenient to have a Japanese clerk. It's pretty crowded during the day, so you might want to make a reservation. However, it is a friendly restaurant where there are quite a few people who wander in by themselves, have a quick bite to eat, and then leave.

3 stars for the food, 1 star for the service as we ordered a bunch of bowls thinking they were small but actually the were huge and we couldn't finish the portion so we asked for the leftovers to take away but the package had no lid just an aluminum foil in a cardboard bag instead of the typical plastic bag.. all the sauce spilled all over us and in the car and it was horrible and ruined our day basically. a nightmare. Also menu with pictures has no prices on them so we also ended up paying a lot.. good strategy!

we ordered the cold noodles with peanut sauce and they were phenomenal! Really creamy and refreshing. The stuffed egg plants were an interesting side dish as well. Just come here if you are open for some new dishes! Yet, for the atmosphere I must say that I felt a bit squeezed in there…

One of the best places for Asian food. The food is very nicely flavored and the portions are big too. The beef is also super tender. I would really recommend the bibimbap and the chili oil wontons.

Discriminatory. Cash will not be accepted; only card payments will be accepted. The food is ok, but nothing special. The hype surrounding this store is incomprehensible. The lady behind the counter is also completely overwhelmed, so the queue is long even outside of rush hour.

A reference for years, always very full and very tasty

What a lovely place to grab lunch! It was quite busy and the waiter struggled to bring the right dish (one of) straight away. However, all we had was delicious! Highly recommend to visit.

The food is already unique. Deep Umami Vibez with lots of interesting dishes. The noodles are super mushy and eggplant lovers can get a dish of every spiciness here. Dumplings were also very tasty. Price-performance ratio is very good here. Only the drink selection is a bit poor, and the ambience is rather loud, cramped and bistro-like. But you always like to come back for food and wait for a seat. Reservations are important.

Very noisy, just about full on a Tuesday at around 18:00. Food decent value, but disappointing considering the reviews praising it - it’s ok, not special, but the price is right. I‘m put off returning by the fact that I couldn’t talk with my fellow diner, sitting just opposite. Very noisy, which makes some folks just about shout to make themselves understood.

Best Asian food in Berlin, and I have tried many so far. Noodles are amazing

Very busy restaurant so make sure you book a reservation beforehand. We ordered the Tan Tan Noodles, the Spicy beef broth, the Sweet and Sour chicken, cucumber and garlic salad and an aubergine dish. The aubergine dish was the showstopper. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the noodles or the broth but the other dishes were great and a very reasonable price.

Excellent little Chinese restaurant specializing in fresh noodle soups and noodle dishes and more. I often eat there with Chinese friends. You can also see a lot of Chinese among the guests there.

I went to this noodle restaurant because of the many reviews on Xiaohongshu. We ordered four bowls of noodles, but none of them were handmade. The texture of the noodles was very average. The beef seemed to have been pre-cooked the day before. Don’t recommend

Cuando sonó nuestra alarma a las 2: 45 AM hora del Reino Unido esta mañana lo último en nuestra mente era encontrar un lugar para cenar esta noche. Un viaje hasta Bristol, luego el vuelo de 700 millas al aeropuerto de Brandenburgo más tarde nos encontramos tomando el tour en autobús de Berlín. Al registrarnos en el Premier Inn de al lado y una rápida siesta de energía más tarde nos arrastramos a regañadientes de nuevo fuera para encontrar comida. El menú en la ventana parecía interesante y tienen fotos de los platos en la pared sobre la cocina, lo cual es increíble, ya que puedes ver lo que vas a pedir antes de pedirlo. El personal es muy amable y muy servicial. La comida fue cocinada fresca y se puede ver a los chefs trabajando detrás de las pantallas de vidrio. El servicio fue extremadamente rápido y la comida era increíble. Con un sabor delicado, nada abrumador y en general muy agradable. Definitivamente nos volveremos a detener de nuevo si nos encontramos en Berlín en el futuro!

I think this is my most visited restaurant in Berlin and I travel for an hour just to eat here. Amazing and delicious food plus the ambiance is really homey. I always eat Bibimbap even though I tried other things too and they were equally good.

As a person who lived in China I must admit it was very authentic. The flavour, the spices, the meat. We had different typ of soups and wonton. It was soo good that we decided to go there a second time. It can be crowded but the stuff is very helpful. Just perfect food expirience.

The noodles are good, but when I went there, there was no place inside and I could only sit outside. I felt that apart from the good location, there was nothing special about it. The menu didn’t have a lot of variety. Maybe foreigners like it.

I've been coming here again and again for several years, and for good reason: for me, Shaniu's House of Noodles is simply one of the best Chinese restaurants in Berlin. The soups are good, but for me that's not the reason for my visits. The best thing to do with a small group is to order different dishes to share with the whole table, try your way through the menu and then go home feeling full and happy. My all-time favorites include the fried beans and the fried eggplant (with or without stuffing, both are delicious). Oh yes, the service can be a bit hectic at times, but generally very friendly. Be sure to reserve in advance as it is almost always full!

Kalte noodles, Korean chicken, spicy beef noodles, and eggplant fries were all delicious ◡̈ The owner was really friendly and the kids enjoyed the chicken noodles.

An unpleasant place. It turned out that the soup was cooked from unwashed chicken gizzards. When I asked to bring a fork they never brought it but I don't ask a second time, it's humiliating. That is, in the waiter culture, communication occurs mainly through conflict and discrimination against customers.

There's a hustle and bustle here! We were kind enough to get a table after a waiting time of twenty minutes, while others were put off at the outside tables on the sidewalk, which was not an option for us given the first real autumn cold that was setting in. The kitchen and service team - very friendly and cheerful and chaotic. However, you also have to admit that the bear was really moving, there was a constant push of heavily wrapped newcomers past our table, other tables were moved and rearranged, right next to us a hetero couple was able to do their public display of affection (known as PDA) so little We kept ourselves mentally prepared for the sight of coitus on the restaurant table. Too much information. Now about the food. There were only three Asian-looking customers, I read everyone else as white, which from experience is a very bad sign for a Chinese restaurant. The menu was interesting and seemed authentic, in fact everything was not badly cooked. But COMPLETELY over-seasoned, over-salted and fried too crispy. The amounts of soy sauce alone! A side point: It is not Chinese cuisine to mix raw cold bean sprouts into a hot meal. And 13 euros for fried potatoes with caraway seeds (albeit deliciously seasoned and of course almost over-salted) really hurts. So, the mystery remains as to why good kitchen ingredients are drowned and cured in gallons of soy sauce and grains of salt. The all-white clientele didn't seem to mind. Conclusion: Unfortunately not again.

Very nice reception. I really thought the illustrated menu card was great. Our food came relatively quickly and was delicious. Unfortunately, the noodle soup was too spicy for our standards. There were photos of the dishes on the wall but unfortunately many of them weren't available. At least they said they were only offered in their other two restaurants. It's a shame, we really wanted to try the rice cakes.

Really delicious noodle soups, even without meat. There is an extensive lunch menu, but the prices are absolutely reasonable even on the normal menu, especially with the decently large portions. The Korean Fried Chicken is also extremely tasty.

I dont usually do reviews unless I'm asked but I'm going out of my way to do so because of how bad of an experience I had. Local friends said we would have to wait since it's busy and popping and we were okay with that at first. We were a party of 6 and after about 30 mins of waiting we told the server we were ok with sitting 2 people per table or split 3 and 3 or sitting 4 and 2, we just didn't want wait any longer since it seemed like the table we were waiting to get up so we can be seated were going to sit and talk for a while. They ended up sitting for another 40 mins while the server kept pushing us back saying to wait they're paying and will leave soon. We were seated and another table sat down at the same time right as the big party left. Our drinks were taken promptly and served quick, but something I've never experienced happened to me. The table next to ours asked how cold the beer was (not that cold), so the server asked if he can borrow one of our drinks for a second and let the table next to us touch it to check. We ordered our food and the food was coming out at a good pace. I don't know the name of the noodle dishes we got, but to keep it simple I'll call it noodle A and B. We ordered one noodle A and two noodle B, but we were given two of each. While halfway done noodle A (the dish we got for free) the server comes to us and says he gave it to us by accident and proceeds to take the dish away. I was actually baffled. We ordered 10 dishes, so it's not like we knew and were purposely trying to get a free meal, but I mean what are they going to do with the rest? Throw it away ? After making us wait that long I feel like the least they could do is just let us finish the dish. I give this place 2 stars because the food wasn't bad, but there's a lot of good food in Berlin. Overall I'd recommend just going somewhere unless you're dying to try some Chinese food, but there's other places close by that serve good Chinese food as well.

For the record, the building is made of standard building materials, not actual noodles. As a structural engineer, I personally wouldn't recommend egg and flour based construction methods.

From Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. you can get a very cheap and delicious meal here for €9 including a small soup or salad. I recommend the M16 (aubergine spicy) and the M13 (rice with ribs). If you like it less spicy, you can also order the M16 milder. The difference between M16 and M10: The M16 contains coarse pieces of pepper and garlic, which gives it a spicy note, while the M10 tastes more sweet.

Ordered spicy beef noodles and Korean fried chicken. tasty! The beef noodles taste like the mainland, with just the right amount of spiciness. Fried chicken is better than Korean.

I have been waiting for a long time to try this restaurant. It's better to book in advance since it usually very busy. I have to say I'm not a big fan of the atmosphere inside, as the dining tables are small and the whole sitting is relatively cramped. The food though, which is what I mainly came for is quite authentic I must say. Real Chinese food served by Chinese chefs. We tried their beef and carrot steamed dumplings and cold chicken with leek and spicy garlic oil. The dumplings together with the dipping sauce is such a delicacy, but I was not a big fan of the chicken, mainly because it was cold and felt a bit gamey. I'm not saying it's bad, but I don't think it's my cup of tea. For the mains we got noodles with pork belly and cabbage, which unfortunately didn't capture us as much as their signature spicy beef noodle soup, which was nothing short of magnificent. The noodle soup was full of thinly sliced tender beef and is spiced to perfection. We ordered another dish to share on the side because why not. Spicy fried pork belly with cabbage and peppers. I absolutely loved this dish, also the portion was very decent, that I almost struggled to finish it which rarely happens. In conclusion if you are after authentic Chinese food, give them a try, but If you are looking for a proper dining restaurant with good ambiance and less loud, then this restaurant won't give you that experience.

I ordered a large beer, received a small beer, ordered a large beer again, received a lukewarm beer, asked for a cold beer and received the same beer with ice cubes. I gave up and ordered a bottled dark beer and received a nonalcoholic pilsner. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, the yuxiang eggplant was drenched in darkened corn syrup or something equally horrifying. Don’t even get me started on their overcooked, bland noodles. I don’t understand the hype for this place but it’s about as good as one of those Vietnamese places that also serves Thai food and sushi.
