We always stop here for a short break on our way to Stuttgart. The restroom is clean and finally renovated 😄 The food selection is also okay.

It happened on September 19, 1925. Well, we were just coming from France and experienced completely different rest stops. A rest stop I will definitely not use on future trips. I can find a restroom elsewhere.

I treated myself to a second breakfast there. I had a small cup of coffee, €3.90, and a chocolate muffin, €3.20. I handed the lady my Serways receipt with a €1.00 credit. I still paid €7.10. Unfortunately, I left the receipt behind. I enjoyed my breakfast and then went back to the checkout. It's not about the one euro for me, it's about the principle. The lady couldn't remember. There were five customers after me, after all. She denied everything. If she does that with 300 customers a day, she gets an extra €300.

Thursday, 7:00 PM, and you're already on your ass. The shower at the Rasthaus is cash-only, costing €4. After returning the keys, you get a receipt, a refund of your deposit, and a voucher to spend the €4. The downside is that you have to pay back €20 in cash or present your ID (which is illegal in the EU). Burger King closes at 8:00 PM. And, as usual, the staff won't speak English, which is also a disadvantage if you don't speak German.

If you want to eat, skip this place. The restaurant is empty because they're out of stock, and at Burger King, three of the four ordering machines are down, and the person taking orders won't take your order because it's too much for them to put it in paper bags and take orders. I assume the machines are deliberately down to prevent the men from working too hard.

Important for travelers with children: a fenced-in outdoor playground. (Exit at the back of Burger King.) It was a lifesaver for us on a 1350km trip! Prices are high as usual, restrooms are the same as you'd expect from Serways: €1 in, €1 coupon back.

You can order at McDonald's at two terminals (even though there are four) – there are long lines in front of them. And then there's a small café area with a few sandwiches – also long lines. There's no announcement anywhere that the rest stop is only running at half capacity. And if you choose McDonald's, you can't even redeem Sanifair vouchers.
