Outstanding restaurant with Japanese cuisine near Mannheim train station. As soon as you enter the clearly and attractively designed rooms, you are warmly welcomed. The always friendly attention of the staff continues when assigning the place, arranging the cutlery, serving the food and finally the billing. Emphasis is placed on clarity, elegance and appreciation for every detail. You can clearly see this in the quality and presentation of the food. These look great and taste just as good. Even the lunch menu - with kimchi, soup and a small bowl of fruit - becomes a meditative event. The first-class taste fits seamlessly into the overall experience. And the moderate price leaves the guest almost a bit perplexed in the end, but definitely relaxed and able to return to everyday life outside of the Senju.

We like to come here regularly and have definitely tried everything on the menu. Here you can get the best fried noodles & gyoza (for me as a veggie). My boyfriend loves the takoyaki and we recommend enjoying shabu shabu or sukiyaki here too! So far everything has always tasted great and has been real authentic Japanese quality. The prices are fair and reasonable. The service is always particularly polite and courteous, and it's nice to see how you interact with each other. The boss is a very warm, lovely woman and we always enjoy coming. Unfortunately I always forget to take pictures of the fantastic food 🙈

Senju is always an experience! Incredibly nice staff. The dishes were really tasty, the homemade iced teas and lemonades were excellent and the care and ambience there simply made you feel at home. I've been going there for years and still happily recommend it.

First impression is simply WOW, you get water and おしぼり for free like in Japan. The water had a pleasant taste with basil. The rooms are very nice and 障子 is also available, which gives even more Japanese flair. Now let's get to the food. Unfortunately, with Yasai No Tempura I discovered that the breading was much too thick. Likewise, it was a little too oily, which meant I didn't absorb the food very well. Otherwise very happy with the rest. Next time I hope that the side dish, the white radish, is served separately from the 天つゆ. Thank you for the good tea and for the Japan feeling, which I have never been able to experience in a Japanese restaurant in Germany.

Going to this restaurant was a real experience! Our waitress and all the rest of the staff were really really lovely and attentive. The food was insanely underpriced for how good it tasted - we really liked the lunch menu option with miso soup, kimchi and fruit as extras - and under 20 Euros for the main dish including the extras from the lunch menu is without a doubt a really fair price. Will 1000% come back.

Been wanting to visit this place for a long time and finally got a chance. First impression when entering the restaurant was that it looked really beautiful. The staff also had beautiful but functional uniforms and were very courteous and nice. The food was wonderful. My partner and I had the miso soup and the egg soup for starters. The ramen that followed was absolutely tasty and wonderful. 10/10 would visit again.

I rarely give 5 stars everywhere, but the restaurant impressed me on every level. The price was very, very fair and the food was incredibly tasty. There was also a starter soup and a small fruit salad as dessert. If I'm in Mannheim again, I'll definitely eat there again.

We were served very quickly. The food was fantastic. Very tasty and fresh, exactly as it should be, and served well too. Above all, we were more than satisfied with the price. The two of us were in the restaurant at lunchtime. The atmosphere was very pleasant as soon as you entered, the conditions were warm and accommodating. We both had a selection of the lunch menu, which comes with a starter and dessert and is very good value for money. There was also a selection of sushi, because we really wanted to try it. What can I say? TOP. Very good quality in taste and well presented. We will definitely come back. Maybe next time the food will be delivered by robot. That was still missing 😉 Thank you.

A small shop with very cost-effective Chinese food! Not only appetizers but also desserts! So I went to have dinner again👍There will also be appetizers, desserts and chocolate🍫 It is recommended that if you order fried snacks, try to avoid fried staple food! Otherwise it will be a bit boring (Especially if you order fried shrimp! Don’t order fried salmon, and if the appetizer is still fried) The waiters are very nett! ❤️ Also, let me mention that the bathroom in this restaurant is also very clean hahahaha!

We left the restaurant after half an hour disappointed because we couldn't even order drinks despite asking twice. The service was visibly overwhelmed, perhaps you shouldn't take every seat if you want to have satisfied guests.

It's a shame, we were full of anticipation because we were there a year ago and we were completely satisfied. Unfortunately not at all this time. We had reserved for 5 people, but there were only four of us...which led to a longer pause for consideration. We were then asked if the table for 4 next to the entrance was OK. Unfortunately, I said yes. At the beginning there was a nice waitress with us who poured us some water and presented the cards. So far so good. Then a larger group came and stood in the entrance area and also directly behind us. They were talking loudly. That was uncomfortable because you barely understood yourself anymore. The next table was served and we politely asked if we could order. She wasn't responsible and wanted to let her colleague know. Nothing happened. The group behind us was still loud... After 20 minutes, without ordering a drink... my daughter asked again if we could order. And nothing happened again. We were overlooked at this table because the entrance area was full of people. With the high temperature we were really thirsty and then left visibly annoyed and disappointed. Despite robot help, the service failed completely. This is how you scare away customers. Luckily we got a table somewhere else where we were served straight away.

The dishes are always fresh and of outstanding quality, everything tastes excellent and is lovingly prepared. The audience is diverse and very pleasant. Or which sauce you eat, since there are such things as allergies/intolerances, first it was said I had no idea, and then it was a secret recipe, waited despite a reservation, and waited a very long time to be served, which is a shame.

Modernly furnished Japanese restaurant with delicious, reasonably priced and creative food. You immediately feel at home with the friendly staff and the free water. Before the main course, a miso soup and a kimchi salad are brought as a gesture from the kitchen and after the main course a plate of fruit. These small but not so small things make the store simply unique.

The best restaurant experience in Mannheim. Definitely a must if you are in Mannheim. The people who work there are the sweetest people. Everyone was super friendly and open. The four of us ate at Senju today and tried our way through the menu, from starters to soup, main course and dessert. I have to say every single dish was absolutely delicious and we couldn't fault it at all. The waitress was super sweet, gave us good advice and answered all our questions. If I could I would eat there every week.

We were there for the first time today, we definitely recommend making a reservation! For starters I had salmon tartare, as an intermediate course I had sushi which was of the best quality and in the main course I had king prawns from the teppanyaki plate and finally macha ice cream with red bean mousse! Everything was prepared excellently! The service was quick and extremely friendly! Really, first class! It wasn't the last time we were there.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever eaten at. I've been there several times and the cuisine impresses me 100% every time. That being said, I have never had better sushi anywhere than at Senju.

#long_and_detailed review Hey everyone! We were guests at Senju in Mannheim this afternoon to celebrate our 🐺's birthday with a giant🐻 & a 🔴🐻! The level of cleanliness, precision, sympathy and taste of the food, as well as the drinks, was previously only known to us from Tokyo Sushi on Roonstrasse in Cologne. All goods used, whether food or drink, were without equal! Whether it's Yuzushu (yuzu syrup on ice and sake), Yuzu Prosecco or a Yuzu lemonade, they're all wonderfully refreshing and tasty. Our main waitress was extremely friendly from the first moment and, despite the professional distance, you felt like you were visiting a long-standing family of friends. All employees were friendly & empathetic. Since our 🔴🐻 suffers from sociophobia, we were allowed to dine in one of the two Japanese separate rooms, where we felt very comfortable. We were greeted with the lunch menu & a free & refreshing glass of lime-cucumber-mint water. There was also kimchi cut into julienne and sprinkled with sesame seeds - with a strong, fiery, spicy kick. Everyone got miso soup, with wakame, sweet shiro miso and a garnish of silken tofu and spring onions. The soup, a companion throughout the meal, was a real umami bomb, yet very gentle. We ordered various dishes: -Sirloin Steak Donburi (juicy, slightly fat-marbled grilled beef steak with teriyaki sauce, crunchy vegetables, on soaked rice) -Unagi Donburi (generous slices of grilled eel on fluffy egg strands & the sweet-savory sauce for brushing the eel when grilling, on rice) -a selection of nigiri & a twin duo of lean tuna & buttery salmon, plus various nigiri with freshwater shrimp, tender cooked octopus, & other sea treasures. Our request to replace the included surimi with salmon was granted free of charge. Both a salt-reduced and a classic soy sauce were carefully served. Both the fluffy sliced ​​daikon radish was a crispy cold crunch with the sushi, as was one of today's highlights: the freshly grated wasabi, where you could feel the grain with your tongue - with a delicate sweetness and really just a hint of the typical "horseradish" - Sharpness -Home-style fried noodles - fried wheat noodles generously coated with Japanese mayonnaise & teriyaki sauce with fresh vegetables, in a distinctively "Japanese" Yakisoba preparation -Tempura Moriawase (three large freshwater prawns of enormous size, leaning on a fan of fried noodles covered in tempura bits, with a bowl of rice and a beautiful granite half-shell with a sour-fresh ponzu sauce that counteracts the fat from the fried food) During the starter we made a small selection from the diner menu... -the 'J4 Kani', a salad made from fresh crab claws with cucumber strips, salmon roe, daikon strips in Japanese Kewpie mayo served in an upside-down crab carapace. Absolutely complete, "succulent sweet". -a lukewarm wakame, very tasty in its own way & excellent for a fan of this dish -last but not least: 'J14 - fried soft shell crab'. Completely fried with peppery mayo as a dip. Lots of sweet, full-bodied "meat" & some of the cerebral mass had already been mixed with crab roe, which was honey-sweet & full of salty sea flavor. Left us all absolutely amazed! At the end there was the previously mentioned hand-picked and cutely cut fruit, as well as a portion of matcha ice cream with a dollop of adzuki beans from the Wagashi segment, sprinkled with a sugary strawberry and roasted mochiko powder. All in all, this birthday dinner was such a success that we have already reserved a table for New Year's Eve this year and are really looking forward to the culinary delights that await us! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Senju Japanese Restaurant and I absolutely loved it. The ambience was authentic and inviting, with traditional Japanese decorations and a relaxed atmosphere. The food was the real highlight. The sushi I ordered was freshly prepared and of the highest quality. The pieces of fish literally melted in your mouth and the presentation was extremely appealing. The menu offers a wide range of traditional dishes such as tempura, ramen and yakitori. The service was excellent. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and they were happy to provide recommendations if you were unsure about what to order. Service was quick and efficient, despite the restaurant being full. Overall, my visit to Sakura was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to return to try more of their delicious cuisine. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy real Japanese cuisine in a welcoming environment.

If you want to try authentic Japanese cuisine, then this restaurant is the place for you! Very tasty dishes. The service is simply at the highest level! The atmosphere and experience are worth the money!

Eel rice bowl => Ssangttabong, I will eat it again. Teppanyaki Tintenfisch => It's not bad, but I probably won't order it next time. You could try it with steak or lobster. Ebi Tempura => It's good, but it feels a bit like my mom's type of fried food. I think it would be better to breadcrumb the outside to make it a little more crispy. I plan to try ramen sushi next time!

By far the best restaurant from the Frankfurt area to Mannheim. A service like no other restaurant. From a damp towel for your hands to water for every visit. An incredibly friendly and pleasant approach to customers and even the food is really of a high standard. Every single sauce and cutlery is coordinated and excellently prepared with an eye for detail. They left it open longer for us so that we could eat in peace. We never had the feeling of having to leave, on the contrary. Even the toilets are massively impressive. Clean toilets with the possibility of free use of glasses cleaning cloths, mouthwash, ear swabs, hand creams and various other hygiene items. We (4 people) are more than convinced and very grateful for this experience. Absolutely recommended and we will definitely come to Mannheim again just for this.

And another delicious evening. There is not much to say. But what you can say is that it tasted very tasty and that it was really high quality. It is really recommended! The service was also very nice and always there if you needed anything.

Yesterday we didn't get a table despite making a reservation. We waited for 30 minutes, people kept pushing in front of us. What's so difficult about giving reserved tables? At some point we left annoyed and it was definitely the last time we were there, not recommended!!!

Update from December 18, 2023 Unfortunately, it has happened three times in a short space of time that you have to wait between 15 - 30 minutes for a table despite having a reservation. Something isn't going right in service management. And now for the third time we went too. There were 3 reservations ahead of us that were waiting and none of the tables looked like they would be freed up quickly. The Senju is always a small experience. The food looks like a painting and tastes like a dream. No matter whether it's an appetizer, sushi or ramen. Hard to recommend anything. Thanks to the team for the great service.

Charming, and the food is always magnificent. It took a few times before I deciphered the menu; but my current strategy for two is three appetizers because they are fantastic, soup, some sushi, and an order of mixed tempura. The restaurant for a date or an evening with friends is highly recommended! Everything is perfectly freshly prepared, so prepare yourself for a casual unrushed dinner.

Definitely, my favourite restaurant in Mannheim! We always feel very welcomed, since the staff are friendly and kind. We love to go there regularly for the lunch as a family. They are also child friendly. In the lunch menu the miso soup and kimchi are included as Appetizer as well as the fruit salad as dessert. The price performance ratio is excellent and I can recommend Senju restaurant to all new visitors.

We (2 people) were there for the first time and spontaneously at lunchtime and were lucky. There were still two places available. I'll be honest, I was skeptical, but it was totally worth it. I have rarely had such kindness from anyone. Every course/dish was explained to us, but not in an intrusive manner. Food was great. We'll definitely come back.

We were here for dinner. The location and very nice and clean. The service was consistently very good. We had made a reservation because we were told that it was currently not possible to eat there without a reservation. We were shown to our seat and greeted with a welcome drink. After ordering the food there was a greeting from the kitchen (fried salmon pieces).😊 We had pre-ordered sushi and gyoza. They were very tasty. The main courses were also very tasty. The dishes were also explained. We thought that was very nice. In conclusion, it was a very nice evening there. I personally have a suggestion for improvement. As a vegetarian, I find it more pleasant when vegetarian dishes are labeled. It would be nice if such dishes were marked on the menu.

You can only get in here with a reservation, a nice, cozy restaurant with fast service and very good iced tea. My wife would come again just for the yuzu tea :) The fried chicken fillet pieces as a starter would be absolutely amazing, nice and crispy but juicy. The main course was delicious and 3 mochi for dessert, we went home very full and happy. My girlfriend likes to eat the ramen here and is surprised that it doesn't feel like it's getting any less. Would love to come back.

Been here today during lunch time. Great lunch menu. The food was delicious. The Miso has been delicious although i usually dislike Miso. Sushi was great (9/10). Teppanyaki was 7/10 and Ramen was 8/10. Sencha and Momochi was 9/10. Very pleased with service and atmosphere and the overall experience.

Eines Vorweg je größer die Gruppe, desto mehr Zeit solltet ihr einplanen bevor ihr an den Platz kommt. Wir waren 11 Personen und hatten für 20h reserviert, bis wir an unseren Tisch konnten war es bereits nach 21h, obwohl wir pünktlich vor Ort waren. Während der Wartezeit durften wir feststellen, dass wir nicht die einzigen sind die trotz Termin warten mussten. Fairerweise wurden uns zwei Runden Prosecco aufs Haus während der Wartezeit kredenzt. Das Essen war das warten absolut Wert. Das Teppanyaki mit Rinderfilet ist im Mund verschmolzen und auch die Lammkoteletts vom Teppanyaki war absolut perfekt. Auch die Vorspeisen waren super. Zum Ende des Abends wurde sich nochmals für die lange Wartezeit entschuldigt und mit dem Dessert aufs Haus versüßt. Der Service ist aufmerksam und zügig ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Man kann das Senju absolut empfehlen.

Wir mussten trotz Reservierung erstmal 15-20 Minuten warten, was überhaupt nicht in Ordnung ist - mit der Begründung „der Tisch wird gleich frei." Wir haben 45 Minuten gewartet bist die Suppe kam & die Vorspeisen wurden einfach vergessen! Wir haben gleich unsere Hauptspeise bekommen... Die Begründung : Es war sehr viel los heute. Sehr traurig..

Das Warten im japanischen Restaurant Senju in Mannheim hat sich definitiv gelohnt! Die Qualität der Speisen übertrifft alle Erwartungen. Jeder Bissen ist ein Genuss, und die authentische Atmosphäre macht das kulinarische Erlebnis perfekt. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Wir hatten reserviert, vor dem Laden standen bereits viele Leute die auch reserviert hatten. Da wir nicht bei -2 Grad weiter in der Kälte warten wollten, sind wir nach 15 min gegangen. Wenn es zu voll ist, sollten keine Reservierungen angenommen werden. Das Restaurant gibt es seit Jahren, wie lange die Leute am Tisch sitzen sollte also abgeschätzt werden können.

I highly recommend making a reservation quite a bit ahead of time, because it's an extremely sought after restaurant. The staff was fantastic, but seemed to struggle a bit with the amount of tables they had. The portion sizes are generous and flavor profiles were authentic to Japan. It's a great place to celebrate or to impress your date.

Extrem freundlicher Service, unglaublich gutes Essen und es gibt Peach Soda. Außerhalb von Japan hab ich noch nie Peach Soda gefunden und die vom Senju schmeckt genau wie die White Peach Soda die man in den Sommermonaten in Japan bekommt! Das Essen ist unglaublich lecker und sehr authentisch, die Auswahl ist wirklich gut. Es gibt Dons, Teppanyaki Gerichte, Ramen, diverse Vorspeisen, Suppen, Sushi, Shabushabu, Sukiyaki und Tempura Gerichte. Ich kenne sonst kein Restaurant was Sukiyaki oder Shabushabu in Mannheim anbietet. Preis-Leistung ist top! Also alles in Allem: Das Senju könnte mein neues Lieblingsrestaurant in Mannheim werden! :)

Absoluter Favorit was essen, Service und Ambiente angeht. Wenn man authentisches Japanisches Küche essen möchte ist man hier genau richtig. Von Vorspeise bis zum Hauptgang harmonieren die Gerichte in einem großen Ganzen und verursachen eine Geschmacks Explosion. Ich bin absolut begeistert. Preisleistungsverhältnis ist super.

Ein typisch Japanisches Restaurant mit ausgezeichnetem Essen und exzellenten Service. Bei jedem Mittagsmenue war eine Misosuppe, Kimchi und ein kleiner Obstteller zum Abschluss dabei. Team war sehr aufmerksam! Definitiv eine Empfehlung 👍🏻

Schönes asiatisches Restaurant, an dem es wenig auszusetzen gibt. Wir haben einige Speisen probiert: Die Kaarage waren schon knusprig, saftig, und gut gewürzt; der Thunfisch in Kombination mit Yuzu schmeckte hervorragend; die Gyozas sowie das Lachs-Sashimi waren leicht überdurchschnittlich; bei der Ramen hätten die Nudeln gerne etwas bissfester sein dürfen, geschmacklich war sie aber insgesamt auch gut. Das Ambiente ist nett, mit etwas Glück kann man einen Platz in einer kleinen Nische ergattern, in der man traditionell japanisch auf dem Boden sitzend speisen kann. Der Service war nett und durchaus zuvorkommend, wenngleich wir sehr lange und auch erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen unsere Rechnung erhalten haben.
