Beautiful lakeside location. Friendly service at the cocktail bar. A great selection in the beer garden, too.

The Seehaus is a beautiful beer garden, located directly on Lake Hesselohe in the English Garden. They serve Paulaner beer—not the worst, but not the best Munich beer either. The food on offer is standard beer garden fare at rather steep prices. Two shandy Maß (literally "Radler") with a portion of Obatza with a giant beers will set you back 40 euros. But you can watch the sunset on the lake, and that's basically priceless. So beautiful!

The beer garden has a beautiful location right on the lake, but unfortunately, the prices are slowly getting higher. A Adelholzener Spritzer, which you take yourself from the fridge, costs €5.50. Portion of frozen fries costs €7.

A very beautiful beer garden on Kleinhesseloher Lake with seating for up to 2,500. A wooden lakeside house, the predecessor to the current one, had existed since 1837. The current one is the fourth new building on this site, having stood there since 1985. The bar and outbuildings have been modernized in recent years. In summer, the beer garden is always very busy, and seats by the water are scarce. Prices have risen dramatically since the coronavirus pandemic and are now high. Nevertheless, it is preferable to, for example, the beer garden at the Chinese Tower, as it is significantly less touristy and there is no annoying deposit system. If you prefer a more secluded setting, walk 5 minutes further to Hirschau, north of the Mittlerer Ring.

A really nice beer garden, beautifully situated by the lake. The self-service food is also decent. I come here very often and enjoy it. Unfortunately, a new policy has crept in: here, too, you're now required to tip when paying by card. I've been happy to tip in the past, despite the very high prices, but this practice leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Completely overrated and overpriced with no added value

I had a sad bratwurst for €8.90 on an empty plate... I was so speechless that I didn't realize what had happened until after I paid. They didn't have a plain roll either.

Perfect! Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere

It was raining so we were unable to see the lake or outside. Inside the restaurant tried to be gourmet and luxurious but failed in all fronts. Food was expensive but poor - my trout had zero flavor and there was no cooking involved to justify it being almost 30 euros. The kids meal pasta was extremely underwhelming. We ordered a soup that was just salty liquid water. The best thing they served was bread but we even had to ask for butter. There were people sitting out near the porch with a view of the lake. The restaurant was empty so we asked to be seated there - they replied it was closed. We asked again saying there are people sitting there - they replied it was closed without offering any explanation. I know Germans are stoic but service was slow and cold. Don’t expect any type of beergarden here. Maybe its great when the weather is good. We traveled over 40 minutes by taxi just to get here because of the great reviews from Google and even ChatGPT recommended it. Overall - extremely disappointed.

Highly recommended for a drink with a great view! The food was not good at all :( the Obatzte was sour and had been on the display for some time. We weren't the only ones to notice, so we returned the Obatzte... That can't be right for that price.

A completely disastrous evening. Even at reception, we felt unwelcome and should have left, which would have been the right decision. Placing our order took a while, but it was still OK. The tartare starter tasted OK, but nothing special, no refinement. The main course arrived even though the starter plates hadn't been cleared away yet; the service issue was the main course, ox cheeks, which we've had many times, but here they weren't at all tender, very tough; a complete disappointment. The waiter didn't ask if I enjoyed it or anything like that. Only when I left a tip as a token of appreciation for the evening did I have to put up with questions about why I wasn't tipping, which I personally find presumptuous. Given the location, it's probably not going to be of interest to repeat guests.

Been there again after a long time. 1 star for the view, otherwise the food and drinks were all way too expensive, and nothing special in the beer garden! They're just lucky it's a tourist magnet! We'll go back to our smaller ones around Munich, they're just as nice!! 👍 The response speaks for itself... keep it up👏👏👏

Great beer garden in the heart of the English Garden. Prices are a bit on the high side, typical for Munich, but like in all Bavarian beer gardens, you can bring your own food if you buy drinks from the owner. Great view over the lake with pedal boaters, swans, etc.

The Seehaus has a sensational location and will probably always be busy. It's a nice tourist attraction. Otherwise, it's overpriced, service so-so, quality hmm. It used to be much, much better. The Martini Bianco tasted of nothing; after complaining, they brought out one that actually tasted good. Salad with chanterelles, poorly dressed, lots of greens, bread arrived when my wife was finished. I can get better quality roast pork in Munich, at significantly cheaper prices. Too little sauce, too much fat, and not enough meat. No one asked if it tasted good, nothing. Ordered the second wheat beer - forgotten. The waiter was nowhere to be seen. Watermelon sashimi was okay. When I left, there was no thank you or goodbye, just as the entire management of this restaurant was invisible. Nevertheless, people will come, because the restaurant has a name, and the view of the lake is quite forgiving. As an old Munich resident, I won't be coming back. Enjoy your meal

The prices are definitely upscale. The food itself was good, not sensational, but okay. Our waiter seemed to be having a terrible day today. He acted upscale, but almost everything went wrong – including with our neighbor's fish. We were there with two kids. The kids' menu only came when we asked if there was one. During dinner, he first brought my wife the grilled vegetables from the side dish, but she had ordered the vegetarian main course. Why should she only order the side dish while everyone else ordered main courses? I had only ordered breast for my duck, but it came with leg. When my wife's correct dish finally arrived, he took her cutlery and offered to bring more. But it never arrived, so she continued eating with mine. The bill should have included 4 drinks and 4 main courses – so manageable. But the bill included 5 drinks + another meal + a bottle of water – about €22 too much. After correcting the bill, he slammed the bill down on the table without comment and disappeared. Something went wrong at the neighboring tables as well. Mistakes happen, but if 8 errors occur out of 10 transactions, it's simply too much. Especially when you charge prices like that... normally, you'd add a free coffee or dessert, or a scoop of ice cream for the kids. But nothing... Weak and seemingly falling far short of their own standards...

We were there for a 30th birthday party and left a decent amount of money (including a 10% service charge, which is a bit of a joke for what service?). The bar closed at 9 p.m., which is a really bad joke on a Saturday. From then on, the lights were gradually turned out until we were sitting in complete darkness at 10:15 p.m., even though at least 100 people were still sitting in the beer garden, wanting to finish their drinks in a relaxed manner. According to Google, the beer garden is open until midnight on Saturdays. Treating their guests like that is truly outrageous. And the wheat beer costs €6.20, what the hell? A disappointment!

The food is good, but we were coerced to leave a 10% tip, even though the services were not worthy of it. To be honest, we had mixed feelings after visiting the restaurant... Location: - The view and location directly on the English Garden overlooking the lake are outstanding and unique. The low hedge also shields you from the beer garden, which, however, also gave a relaxed impression. - The restaurant with its open fish counter appears well-kept. - Women's restrooms were not clean. - Clientele: Munich's chic crowd. Food, especially value for money: Caesar salad with beef fillet €29, large green salad €20, Wiener schnitzel €36, (non-alcoholic) beer €6.20. Prices are steep, and the food didn't live up to expectations. Portion size is okay, everything was fresh, but it tasted a bit bland. Service: - You're not greeted when you walk in. A laugh isn't returned, employees seem a bit bitter. - A cover charge of €4 is a flat rate and is shown on the bill; there was no option to cancel. - At times, we were left high and dry. We weren't asked if everything was okay or if we wanted more. The number of guests was reasonable that evening. - For the prices And the location is expected to provide excellent, courteous service. We assume that the venue has to be partly financed through the prices. As a guest, it would be nice if the parking could be used free of charge.

Great location, the food was good, and so was the service...both have room for improvement, but fewer events would have to take place at the same time...

Lets say nice ambient since its outside along the lake.....but its really to expensive. We tried german speciallity that is bratwurst. We each had different one and the portion is not big. Withou any side dish its between 9-12€. So if you order lets say french fries and a drink its 20-25€ for a person. You need to order something on a side because you'll be hungry if you dont. 🙃 Bratwurst was nice to try so if you lile saussages try it. We had the same thing at different location and it was almost half the price. I guess sometimes you have to pay for the view also. 😉

We ate there again last night. Amazingly good food. And the new fish menu 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. The service was top-notch again. The staff always had a smile on their faces, always up for a joke, even though it was busy. Thank you for your hospitality 🤗🤗🤗

The food and ambiance were truly lovely, as always. But the waitress (a brown-haired lady) was incredibly rude, forgot our orders, didn't pour our drinks, etc. For once, I didn't leave a tip, and then she just stared at me with disgust for several seconds. Service like that just ruins the whole experience.

Great breakfast with minor drawbacks in the service The breakfast was truly excellent – everything was fresh, delicious, and there was plenty of choice. There was absolutely nothing to complain about with the food! However, the service was a bit disappointing: Since we weren't wearing shirts, some of the waiters gave us strange looks and felt like we weren't getting enough attention. This unfortunately somewhat dampened the overall impression. Otherwise, everything was top-notch.

A beautiful beer garden on Klein Hesseloher See. The atmosphere is uniquely beautiful, whether you choose to be right by the water or a little further back. Paulaner beer is served here. The food is very high quality for a beer garden, and we highly recommend it. We'd be happy to return anytime.

Beer garden review: The location doesn't make up for the poor food and exorbitant prices! The cheese spaetzle was bone dry, and the baked potato (singular!) was slapped onto the plate by hand by the staff. No Bavarian beer garden culture at all. Simply a tourist trap...

Beautiful place by the lake. This is a Paulaner Biergarten. It is self service. Lots of activity. Prices for some items not listed and I bought some overpriced carrot salad.

Unfortunately, the beer garden's food has gotten really bad these days. It's seriously overpriced, the roast pork is tough, the chicken isn't crispy and is tough, and the Obadzdn doesn't have much cheese to it, as it's more like quark, cream cheese, and paprika powder. The location is great, but that's about it.

Tip for the owner: the table cleaners could certainly wipe down the tables every now and then. This wouldn't harm the restaurant's reputation, and the impression would be less unkempt and dirty. Unpleasant experience. The Italian waiters were completely unfriendly and rude both when making the reservation and during service. The high prices of the food are disproportionate to what you get on your plate. I ordered a Caesar salad for €25 + €16 for two shrimp!! (not huge, as the menu stated), which consisted only of lettuce, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, and three croutons. There wasn't a single sardine fillet (or any other kind), even though one was advertised on the restaurant's menu. The "Mediterranean Vegetables" dish for €20 was poorly cooked and extremely greasy. When paying, the rude and impolite Italian waiter demanded 10% of the total bill and told us, "We're in Germany, not your country." We will never go to this restaurant again. The rudeness of the Italian waiters is unbearable, and the food is expensive and bad—a rip-off!

We were turned away because we had a Sarti voucher, and the waiter apparently didn't feel like serving us, even though there were plenty of seats. A truly unpleasant encounter and extremely arrogant; 0 stars would be too high.

Beautiful location. But the prices are outrageous, even for Munich. It doesn't get more exclusive than this in a beer garden.

The food was comparatively expensive and the quality was so-so. The sausage was half-warm and the fries were soggy.

Relaxed here around 2030 in the summer. Great vibe even for a weekday. Easy self-service meal options are available. Lots of flying insects though but they are literally on the water's edge.

We were basically kicked out. We wanted to have coffee and cake on the terrace. We were told to get something outside in the beer garden by the ice cream parlor... That's totally unacceptable. If you don't immediately generate €500 in sales, you're not interesting. The restaurant was recommended to us. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I was invited here by a colleague. This is a great location, we booked a table in the restaurant not in the beergarden. This caused confusion with the person at the entry of the restaurant because the restaurant has also a small outside terrace who is a beergarden. The person at the reception was unfriendly, very cold, not customer focus and not sure how this profile can be the customer face of this place. After we resolved the reservation ‘issue” we got a table in the restaurant garden. The place is splendid and the view just great. You need to wait for food to arrive and this is normal and good sign ( food is cooked ;-) ) and during this waiting period you enjoy the lake view and good conversations around a good drink. Excepting the non-welcoming first experience with unfriendly reception person I think this place is one of top 5 in Munich where you can spend a dinner night.

We happened to be there on June 21st, and the summer festival was taking place that day. My boyfriend was hungry and got half a grilled chicken from the self-service area, i.e., the beer garden. We assumed the dried-out chicken halves in the upper part of the display case were for demonstration purposes (portion size) – but in fact, my boyfriend got this dried-out chicken, which had probably been sitting there for hours, even though fresh ones were turning on the spit in the background... The food authorities would probably have been pleased :( The atmosphere was fine, appropriate for a summer festival.

Great atmosphere on the terrace in partial shade on a sunny early afternoon. The food (veal patties and fresh salmon) was excellent – ​​and of course, a Munich Helles beer to go with it! Quite reasonable value for money by Munich standards.

A place where you can sit by the pond, eat, drink coffee, and drink alcohol, operating with a self-service system. A place where more than one place is lined up, and even provides service side by side. Prices are high, and there are some problems with cleaning.

It was an excellent experience eating here. We were there for breakfast. The variety was ok. Very nice egg options and the food itself is all incredibly delicious! However, you have to ask for most things over a counter so it doesn't have the normal buffet type feel. The staff was very friendly and the view over the lake was beautiful, peaceful and cozy.

The Seehaus on Kleinhesseloher See in Munich was once an excellent restaurant. Unfortunately, that has changed. Our visit on June 6, 2025, demonstrated this: The unkempt terrace covered in leaves, with tables left uncleaned (for over an hour!) and large cobwebs on the restaurant's windows, presented a dreary sight: incomprehensible! We had chosen "fruity Thai curry with pak chai" with fish or chicken. We were served a tasteless, overcooked dish with dry salmon fillet or dry, unseasoned chicken strips. There was only a hint of curry. Our negative response ("Did you like it?") was simply answered by saying that this would be passed on to the kitchen. The value for money itself is no longer appropriate; for example, a Bavarian cream costs €13! Based on this experience, we will no longer recommend visiting the Seehaus.

The food here is just okay, the atmosphere is also just okay in my opinion. It’s always really busy, and it’s quite loud and busy. There are other more relaxing Biergartens with better food in Munich.
