Schwarzer Adler in Limburg a.d.Lahn

The guest rooms are located above the restaurant's kitchen. Accordingly, the rooms smell of deep fryers. The amenities are very basic: a bed, a closet, and that's it! There's no hairdryer in the internal bathroom, which lacks ventilation. If you're clever, you can use the toilet and brush your teeth at the sink while showering.

The eagle schnitzel was the best schnitzel we've had this year. Even though we're already two-thirds of the way through the year, we eat schnitzel often. We give it six stars for the creative chef. Even though all the tables were full, we received prompt and friendly service. The house grappa to finish was barrel-aged.

Today we were at the Schwarzer Adler again. We really appreciated the ambiance, the good food, and the friendly service. Unfortunately, today's boiled potatoes weren't the best consistency, but our server, Bana, immediately addressed the issue and served us fried potatoes instead. She apologized several times and asked if everything was okay. We would like to thank her very much for this; Bana responded immediately and offered us an alternative! We'd love to come back, thank you! 😃

The Edelsäcker and the appetizer plate were excellent, as was the grappa on the house. And the service was extremely friendly.

The inn has a great ambiance and a good location in Limburg. We were there again after quite some time. The menu is the same as before. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not. The meat was poorly seasoned, the schnitzel was burnt, the salad dressing was practically nonexistent, and the service was rather gloomy. The value for money is no longer there—a real shame.

We were initially happy to have found a room in a central location. We still accepted the price of €99 without breakfast (which isn't even offered). However, the first disappointment came as soon as we got to the room. No luggage storage, no armchair, no chair, no table. No television. No curtains to darken the room. The windows can't be opened while the restaurant is open, as otherwise the food smells would waft into the room, and the exhaust fan is very loud. Regarding the bathroom: Very, very small. You have to go in naked if you want to shower. Hardly any room to move. No storage space. The toilet wasn't particularly clean either. There was no hot water in the morning, so showering was impossible. The double bed comes with only one duvet for two people. Conclusion: Great, central location. However, the room has a lot of potential for improvement. Perhaps it would be good once the renovation and furnishing of the rooms are completed.

Very, very delicious food. The chef is very friendly and attentive. His staff, on the other hand, are inattentive and prefer to smoke across the restaurant rather than look after the guests.

Went there for lunch last Sunday. The green sauce was a bit different than here in Frankfurt. But even here in Frankfurt, you can get many variations. The veal was divine. It practically fell apart. The dressing on the side salad was good. We were able to discuss any changes to the dish with the kitchen beforehand. Good service, and the restrooms were spotlessly clean.

Sommersalt mit Pfifferlingen und Parmesan, 1 x geschmorte Ochsenbäckchen mit Spätzle, 1 x Handkäse-Bratwürstchen mit Apfelweinsauerkraut und Bratkartoffeln, 1 x gefüllter Schweinerücken. Getränke: Rose`,stilles Wasser, alkoholfr. Bier Die Preise sind für das Leistungsniveau absolut ok. Wir kamen um 18:00 Uhr und hatten einen Tisch vorbestellt. Als wir kurz nach 20:00 gingen war das Restaurant proppevoll.

We went there for dinner with nine people on May 7, 2025. It was my husband's 70th birthday. The food was exquisite, from the appetizer to the main course and dessert, it was a dream. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. The service was also top-notch. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Limburg.

Unfortunately, I can't agree with the reviews. I had reserved a table. The one assigned to me was in a narrow corridor leading to the restroom and kitchen. It took a while to be seated upon arrival, and then another while before we were assigned the table above. After about seven minutes, a server arrived and only handed out one memory card for two people. A second one was brought after another five minutes, and then no one was seen again, so we got up and left after 18 minutes. The service seemed unprofessional and confused, so the prices are by no means justified. We're used to different, and above all, better, food in Frankfurt am Main.

Seven of us came here this evening with our dogs and we were all completely satisfied. The somewhat short-term reservation by telephone was no problem at all. Food was very tasty and the service was very good! In our opinion: Absolutely recommended!

Great restaurant. Top cuisine. Not exactly cheap, but a first class kitchen with top quality. However, the inn was very crowded, everything was a bit cramped, very loud and very warm when the house was full.

We reserved a table here on Friday for this year's Whiskey Fair to have dinner. So far every restaurant in Limburg has been tip-top. Here, however, we had bad experiences for the first time in many years. The service was quite offensive, to put it nicely, at the same time completely disorganized and overwhelmed. The food wasn't a highlight either. A person who just ordered a simple cordon bleu had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes for it. The rump steak, which was ordered medium, was well done. The sauces didn't seem homemade. The ambience inside is very nice, rustic in keeping with the old town. There will be no repeat for us.

We have enjoyed being guests here again and again during the Whiskey fair for several years. The food, the service, the advice, everything was great, friendly, attentive, great. Thank you for the surprise for the birthday child. We were very happy about that and you managed to create a super tasty surprise. We always enjoy coming back and can only recommend the restaurant.

My father and I stopped by the black eagle to treat ourselves to a nightcap before going to bed after a lovely day of vacation, so we didn't eat there. The waitresses Bana and her sister were particularly impressive. With their charming and very loving manner, they immediately put a smile on your face after a tiring day. Positive: -Service was quick and friendly -Ochsenbacke was very good -Adler Schnitzel was very good -Side salad was good -Toast with olives was very good -The restaurant and toilet were clean -Scallops were very good -There was a drink on the house -Prices are fair. Not good but fair. -The location of the restaurant is ideal in the city center of Limburg. Neutral: -Spaetzle was a tad too greasy. I still see room for improvement. All in all, if I'm in the area, I'd love to come back!

We strolled through wonderfully quaint alleys and discovered this thoroughly charming, authentic restaurant around the corner...a real hit! As my baptism of fire, I started with the scallops, and I must say...just like you learn in training. Crispy on the outside, translucent on the inside, attractively presented...completely satisfied! I then reordered a dish from the menu beyond recognition...and again...everything was perfect...homemade cordon bleu, juicy filling, airy and crispy baked, pepper sauce with character (a bit too sour...a matter of taste ;) ), finely chopped fried potatoes and fried with a bang. I warmly recommend this reasonably priced German restaurant. The dishes were delicious and the portions generous. I had the Frankfurter Schnizel, which I highly can advise.

The food was brought to the table extremely quickly. Since parts of the dish were lukewarm, such as the meat and the sauce, one can conclude that the meal was prepared in advance. Average taste. So nothing with a WOW moment. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention that there are toothpicks in the meat. Unfortunately, this was only noticed when I pricked my mouth. The fried potatoes were a bit limp. There is still room for improvement. When we pointed out all of this, we realized that criticism is difficult to digest. The service itself was unpleasant. But one "floor" higher the sentence structure became shorter, more in the direction of basal language. Eye contact also disappeared, so that the room was spoken to and we were unsure whether the offer of a nightcap was meant for us or for the rest of the guests... Overall, very disillusioning and a waste of time. So 3 stars are meant benevolently. But it should be worked on, because just over 300 reviews in a long time is not much for a location like this, and those who were extremely satisfied also rate it because it is less effort than negative reviews. Restaurant visit only. Great food, great service. One of the best espressos in the city. The atmosphere is the same as it has been for at least 20 years, which is nice. We'll be coming back more often now!

Very good schnitzel eaten, very gunter

Unfortunately, the restaurant's ambiance leaves much to be desired. The tables are too close together, which detracts from the coziness. The service was good, but the value for money isn't quite right. The fried potatoes didn't impress us; they seemed to have been reheated several times and were overseasoned. The potatoes lacked the characteristic "fried" flavor entirely. The steak tasted okay, but the price doesn't justify the quality. The Limoncello Spritz was overly sweet and lacked fizz, making it unconvincing as a refreshing drink. There's generally little to criticize about beer. At the beginning of our visit, we were served olives and sliced ​​baguette as a courtesy of the house. We wondered whether the dry bread should be enjoyed on its own or topped with olives. A nice gesture, but one that still seems immature. If bread is served, it would be wise to also offer a dip or something similar. The daily menu on the board is a good idea, but unfortunately impractical. The font is so small and tightly packed that at first glance, you don't want to engage with the content. A printed menu or a larger, clearer font with less information would be beneficial. Sometimes less is actually more. The restrooms are anything but inviting, which creates an uncomfortable feeling. While it's an older building, there's considerable room for improvement. The service staff were attentive and professional; there's nothing to complain about here.

Wir waren dieses Mal sehr enttäuscht...Die Heizung war aus, es war extrem kalt. Mein Essen war gut, das meiner Freundin nicht so doll- die Spötzle waren total verkocht. Leider haben wir keine großartige Reaktion auf unsere Kritik bekommen. Schade...und dann kam der Hammer! ....Die Toiletten pfui igitt bäh!!!!! Dreckiger als auf jedem Bahnhofsklo! Auch hierauf haben wir die Bedienung aufmerksam gemacht- ohne Reaktion. Wir waren dann heute zum letzten Mal hier.

I ate here. Unfortunately my food wasn't quite warm but it was full of Christmas parties that evening. The taste was very good, the cheeks were extremely tender and delicious. I can still recommend the restaurant.

We were passing through and spontaneously stopped by for lunch without a reservation. When we asked for a table for 4 people we were seated at a table with a dirty fabric tablecloth. A jar came with leftover lipstick. The food was okay. The waitress seemed listless and ate in between - which I absolutely begrudge her, but then you should at least swallow before turning back to the guests. When we left we also discovered that there was vomit with tissues lying around on the outside table right next to the door. Unfortunately, that rounded off our impression.

Went there with a group of older people, food was pre-ordered. Everything went great, the food was good. The service was also good.

Good evening, this is not fake. We had ox cheeks. We know what ox cheeks taste and look like. What was on the plate was shredded, overcooked beef with no taste at all. Frankfurter Schnitzel was also not tasty, no salt, completely tasteless. When we asked if it was tasty, we said no, the plates were still full, and the unfriendly waiter brought us the bill for 50 euros. All in all very disappointing.

We had a very good lunch there. Among other things, a starter plate with very good veal boiled beef carppachio. The Riesling could be replaced if I had my way. Because of the good food we went there again in the evening, this time with a different wine and sometimes different dishes plus desserts. This rarely happens but we were impressed again. Thank you.

The food was OK, service friendly. Handkäs with music and a Frankfurter Schnitzel were eaten. The hand cheese tasted good, but I would personally leave out the pink pepper because I don't think it goes with the dish. The Frankfurter Schnitzel was solid. The breading could have been crispier. Because the sauce is served directly on the schnitzel, this is difficult to achieve. Recommendation would be to serve the sauce separately if necessary. I personally didn't like the side salad that was served with it because the dressing had too much acid. Reservations are recommended on weekends as the restaurant was very busy. All in all, a solid thing with still some room for improvement.

At the reception there were olives with freshly baked bread. The “Frankfurter Schnitzel” could be improved. For me personally, the green sauce belongs in a separate bowl. Unfortunately it was poured over the schnitzel. As a result, the breading was no longer crispy, but slightly flaky. But that's complaining at a high level. The fried potatoes scored points for this. Nice and crispy and also tastes fabulous.

We had dinner here in the restaurant. The rating therefore only refers to the restaurant visit. As a starter we had the veal fillet carpaccio. This was completely fine both in terms of craftsmanship and taste. As main courses we had the black tortelloni and the eagle schnitzel. Both dishes were completely convincing, with the eagle schnitzel with braised onions in particular being a delight with every bite. This restaurant is definitely recommended when visiting Limburg.

Von aussen macht das Lokal einen sehr guten Eindruck. Service ist ok, das was man erwartet. Jedoch hat das Essen nicht so überzeugt: 1 Gericht war schnell kalt 1 Gericht waren die Spätzle etwas ölhaltig. Zudem gab es eine Verwechslung bei einer Anpassung: die Sauce fehlte aber die nicht gewünschte Beilage war da. Naja kann passieren und doch...... 1 Gericht war zuviel Sauce. Unsicher ob frisch alles gemacht wird oder viel vorgekauft ist. Würden nicht nochmals hingehen. Für einmal ok. Vielleicht haben wir einfach Pech gehabt und einen schlechten Tag erwischt.

Ich kannte die Speisekarte und wusste, dass ich den Tafelspitz vom Kalb mit Salzkartoffeln, Frankfurter Grüner Soße und Salat mit Balsamico Dressing bestellen würde. Meine Frau entschied sich für das gleiche Gericht.

It was our first time eating at the restaurant. The schnitzel with their side dishes tasted very good. The service was friendly and kept track of our table. What was objectionable was the side salad. There is no need for celery and the dressing is much better. Unfortunately, the asparagus was overcounted for the asparagus schnitzel (3 asparagus spears). That too can be done better. Still a restaurant with good cuisine. Unfortunately there are fewer stars for the complaints with the hope that those responsible will correct them.

Ich habe die deutsche Küche des in Limburg geschätzen Gastronomen geschätzt. Im neuen Zeitalter nach dem Verkauf an eine türkische Familie ist alles anders. Vergesst vor allem die hier in Tripadvisor veröffentlichen Fotos. Es ist alles anders. War am ersten Tag der Spargelsaison in 2024 zufällig im Restaurant. Karte hörte sich auch gut an, wenn auch ich das Kalbschnitzel statt Schweine Schnitzel vermisste. Also bestellt: Spargelcremesuppe als Vorspeise und Spargel mit Salzkartoffeln und Schweineschnitzel als Hauptgang Die Spargelsuppe hat durchaus einen guten Geschmack. Wenn sie denn sauber passiert worden wäre hätte sie 4 Sterne bekommen. So nur einen Stern. Der Hauptgang wurde serviert (lieblos) und ich betrachtete den Teller: Die Salzkartoffeln lagen weitestgehend erkennbar auf dem Teller. Spargel und das panierte Schweineschnitzel konnte ich erst identifizieren, nachdem ich die viel zu dick aufgetragene Sauce Hollandaise (aus dem Eimer) entfernt hatte. Das Schnitzl wäre essbar gewesen, wenn die Panade nicht durch die Hollandaise aufgeweicht gewesen wäre. Hollondaise -wenn sie selbst und frisch gemacht ist- schätze ich schon zum Spargel. Ansonsten ist mir Butter lieber. Wurde weder angeboten noch hinterfragt. Krönung war der Spargel: Ein einfacher Messer oder Gabeltest hätte dem 'Koch' angezeigt das der Spargel praktisch roh war. Ergebnis: Ich habe nach ungefähr 20% Schnitzel und 10% Spargel mein Essen abgebrochen. Vorher hatte ich von der Oberseite des Schnitzels die durchgeweichte Panade abgekratzt. Das alles war den Mitarbeitern ersichtlich. Aber kein Wort oder Rückfrage. Habe bezahlt und bin gengangen. Mit einem guten Wein ca. 40€ Das war mein erster und letzter Besuch unter diesem Betreiber. Hört man aber auch von vielen anderen Limburgern zwischenzeitlich. Anmerkung: die netten Fotos z.B. vom Spargel stammen vom Vorbesitzer. Haben mit der türkischen Version nichts mehr zu tun.
