The quality of the food was consistently impressive, everything fresh and prepared with love. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, and we immediately felt welcome. The warm chocolate cake was the absolute highlight and literally catapulted us to cloud nine. We couldn't be happier and spent an unforgettable evening. Highly recommended!

I last ate here at the restaurant a few years ago. We were here again yesterday, and the ambiance and food are still the same. The food is worth the price, and the setting is beautiful. A winter garden perched on the hillside with very old vines invites you to linger. The service staff is very friendly, attentive, and prompt. There's absolutely nothing to complain about here. We'd love to come back, and this time we won't take as long.

A little late, but not forgotten, and always fondly remembered. We ate there by chance last year and were very impressed by the ambiance and the very friendly staff. The food was excellent, and I was also very pleased that they offered creamed vegetables for the kids instead of the usual fries and schnitzel. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Last night, I was able to experience the beautiful ambiance of this inn for the first time. The staff was very friendly, and we ordered a blackcurrant spritzer. Upon drinking it, we immediately noticed that the spritzer wasn't made with sparkling or fresh mineral water. I immediately complained to the friendly waitress. She came over with a small bottle of water from an unknown brand and told us that they treat their water in-house. I was speechless. You're sitting in a beautiful setting with high prices, and as a guest, you don't get sparkling mineral water from a bottle??? And no! I didn't want Gerolsteiner Medium Water! Instead, the guest is offered treated, cheap tap water!!! How cheeky is that? And the price of the drinks wasn't any cheaper either! I told my daughter, who also works in the restaurant industry, about this "experience," and she just shook her head. As a guest, you're literally being ripped off here. That's why I'm only giving it 2 stars! This was definitely my first and last visit to this inn!!!!

Absolutely fantastic! Everything was top-notch: the food, the selection of dishes and drinks, the service, and the atmosphere.

We were with a smaller group (for a birthday party) in the fireplace room, a bit separated from the rest of the event. Perfect for us. We also had small children with us, who always ate first and had dessert. Very good! The food was served almost simultaneously after a reasonable wait. The food was excellent, and the service was very attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed the evening!

A lovely atmosphere, beautifully presented throughout, set up like a terrace. A fantastic meal was served. We drove 518 km just to eat there. After four hours, we headed home, another 518 km. It was a long ride, but it was worth it.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant, recommended by our hotel receptionist. Not fine dining, but very tasty and well-prepared German dishes. Friendly service. Lovely ambiance under the vines. Delicious wine.

We had really good Käs'spätzle here. The price is reasonable for the quality. Not only is the food wonderful, but so is the ambiance and the overall decor. The icing on the cake is the friendly service. Highly recommended.

A great restaurant with a long tradition. We called relatively spontaneously after a visit to the wildlife park, and they actually made the effort to offer us a table. We got a seat, which I thought was fantastic! When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly and shown to our seats in the wine arbor. We were also immediately, very thoughtfully, offered a high chair. I had a very tasty non-alcoholic aperitif to start. The starter was a delicious side salad and baked mushrooms. For the main course, we had a delicious veal Wiener schnitzel with potato salad and fries, a Jägerschnitzel with spaetzle, and pork loin with croquettes. Everything was delicious. The staff was also very attentive and friendly. We'll be back soon – a full 5 stars from us!

I dropped by spontaneously late in the afternoon and got a table right at the top. The service was excellent, as was the food; the steak was perfect, cooked medium-rare. There were a few minor issues, but these were resolved in an exemplary manner. I'd be happy to return. Visited in June 2025

We spontaneously stopped by this restaurant after a visit to the wildlife park. After a very short wait, we got a table on the beautiful roof terrace with a fantastic view of the vineyards. The ambiance blew us away. The service was very friendly. We had Wiener Schnitzel with spaetzle and salad & pork medallions in Calvados cream with spaetzle and salad, and for dessert, vanilla ice cream with strawberries. A big thank you to the kitchen and the waiters ❤️

Seven of us visited today, but unfortunately, we can't quite match the previous guests' comments regarding the food. The ambiance and service were good, even if our iced tea was completely forgotten; it happens sometimes, so it's no big deal. Definitely a place with a high feel-good factor and friendly staff! The food, however, was less than impressive. Many things were returned and not eaten whole, and the staff didn't even ask questions when clearing the plates (or before). The schnitzel was fine, but a beef fillet had to be returned because it wasn't cooked to the right degree. Instead of medium, it came rare, and our colleague's rare meat, on the other hand, was more medium (medium rare at most). All of it wasn't ideal and a shame about the meat. The side dishes were lightly to barely seasoned, and the dessert at least somewhat comforted us because it was really delicious. Conclusion: definitely a place to linger and feel good, but the quality of the food (especially the value for money) didn't blow us away, and another visit is unlikely. Update: two people complain of stomach pain, one person (had the corn chicken) has now vomited several times.

Great location, with a 99-year-old vine in the middle of the restaurant that is spread over several floors and so not everyone has it. Very nice and friendly staff who served us delicious food with the feeling (will be back soon) that it only tastes best here. We would love to come back.

Today we had dinner in the wine arbor. It was very tasty (herb roast with potato gratin and Wienerschnitzel with potato salad), the service was impeccable and the ambience was enchanting. If I could give more stars, I would.

The restaurant is an 11 out of 10. The service is unobtrusive, warm and courteous. The food (starter, main course, dessert) is a real delight. Sitting under the vines gives a feeling of security. All around good. Absolute recommendation.

We would like to thank you for the wonderful time we were able to spend here. We stumbled upon their great restaurant here by chance. We went in (without a reservation and with a medium-sized dog) and we were told... Of course, come in, we'll make it work for you so that you can eat here. Wow... the food was excellent. We would receive very nice and courteous service. A bowl of water was brought for our dog...where else can you get that?!?! Immediately booked another table for today. And again not disappointed by the staff or the food. It's a shame that it can only give 5 stars. If we were ever in the corner again we would be your guests here again in a heartbeat. Keep it up. The food tasted very good. However, one should expect that the additives that require labeling are also fully stated. In our case, flavor enhancer in the form of “Fondor” was used. When the complaint was made to the waitress, they were immediately told that there were no flavor enhancers in the kitchen. When we asked again in the kitchen, we were told that it must be due to the fondant used. We were advised to always ask the staff if we have any allergies or intolerances. So much for that LABELING DUTY!!!

The restaurant deserves more than 5 stars. It is actually one of the very best I have ever visited and of course I highly recommend it. I should actually be more reserved with my rating so that I still have the chance to reserve a table in the future. But I also want everyone to experience this beautiful ambience and everything around it.

I have to add back the stars I deducted last time. Great atmosphere, first-class service, and spot-on advice. This time, the pepper steak was also nicely spicy. Full marks.

For our class reunion we chose the Schurk restaurant in Markelsheim - a choice that turned out to be an absolute hit! You immediately notice that hospitality is very important here. The atmosphere is familiar and inviting, so you immediately feel at home. The food was simply outstanding! I had an onion roast that was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely convincing. The other dishes at the table also looked fantastic - the quality of the cuisine speaks for itself. After dinner we went to the bar, where the evening ended with a good glass of wine. Here too, the coziness was noticeable - a perfect place to end the evening in good company. All in all, a wonderful evening in a great restaurant. If you are in the area and want to enjoy excellent food in a family atmosphere, you shouldn't miss Restaurant Schurk! We'll definitely be back. Reservation is recommended!

Great atmosphere thanks to the vines in the restaurant, great service and great food. Recommended :) However, we had problems finding a parking space. A little tip: use the public parking lot at the beginning of the village and walk there :)

Nice restaurant, very attractive interior design and layout. A restaurant with a guaranteed view even inside. The food was very good. The quality of the meat is particularly noteworthy. Traditionally good home-style menu at a higher level. The food was very digestible despite my preference for heavy food, which is rarely the case. Waiters in traditional costumes, service was great. A family inn that needs to be preserved. We will come back and recommend.

Very good and cozy restaurant with a special ambience.

I went for my birthday in December with my family and in-laws. So there were six of us. Our seat was on the lower level in the grape arbor. However, there is a banquet there. The people were so loud that we had to shout at the next table that we understood each other. Since you don't do this for long, everyone only talked to the people sitting next to them. Of course it's difficult and it's difficult or impossible to stop the noise from the guests, but you shouldn't overcrowd the restaurant so much. One less table would have been better (I would rather have been rejected than not being able to talk about the table for over an hour). Hence the deduction for the ambience. The food was okay, but I got the same quality at a price where I had to pay half as much. Since the price is absolutely inadequate compared to the utilization and volume and thus also the satisfaction, I am deducting two stars here. Regarding the service: Here too, different food came than ordered, which we complained about. My daughter even did this twice when it came to dessert. First she ordered a scoop of lemon ice cream and got a lemon sorbet. Since she didn't eat it, we sent it back and ordered the same thing again. Then came a scoop of lemon and a scoop of chocolate. Then I surrendered, left the ice cream completely and then we went home. The operator probably couldn't understand it because of the volume. Well all in all it was the worst restaurant stay in 40 years. The price performance was also shocking to the other person.

The quality of the main courses, especially the meat, is very good and consistent and has been there several times. Salads and soups are also of the same quality. A clear recommendation in my opinion for anyone who wants to eat a good, home-style meal.

The food and location are very tasty and we were always very satisfied and went there regularly, but we're starting to think it's really too expensive and that's why we don't go there anymore. Price-performance no longer suits us. You are now being rushed through more often because the tables are occupied several times. Very unfortunate.

The two of us had dinner. We ordered roast beef and pork cheeks with roasted potatoes. The meat was great, but the roasted potatoes were unfortunately a bust, warmed up light potatoes without any roasted ingredients. The red wine we drank was ice cold.

I ordered pork cheeks with fried potatoes and beans. First the good: The pork cheeks with the sauce were delicious and tender. Fried potatoes, as the name suggests, should be fried until slightly crispy. Unfortunately there were cut pieces of potato that had once been rolled in fat. It had NOTHING to do with fried potatoes. The beans were just cooked in water and tasted of NOTHING. The boss had cleared away half-full plates and asked how satisfied we were. No concession! Nothing ! I expect a wine arbor to be tempered like a red wine should be. It was served ice cold. It doesn't work at all. The young lady in service was friendly and attentive.

Accommodating for vegetarians and English speaking Americans. This place was recommended by our massage therapist at solymar and it was excellent. The environment is beautiful. Not only did we eat very well during our short vacation, but we also felt very comfortable in the lovely atmosphere. The very good service was not just limited to the food. The problem of not being able to charge our electric car was largely solved with the support of the “rogue landlady”. Thank you very much again for this.

We went to Schurk for lunch on Sunday. We were greeted warmly and shown straight to the table. Our waitress Luca greeted us after a short time and took our orders for drinks and food. Her wine recommendation complimented our two main courses. This was served after about 15 minutes. Pork cheeks and venison was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit. Don't forget to reserve!

I really liked the institution. The food was incredibly tasty, everything was served quickly, the service of the waiters was excellent. One thing, the table was reserved for 20:00, but we waited at the reception until 20:30 for our table. Therefore, it is a sincere recommendation to set up the correct table reservation

We received a voucher for this restaurant from our children and were absolutely thrilled. You will be welcomed very friendly and shown to the table. The restaurant is spread over different floors and you sit under real vine leaves. A vine was planted by the previous owner in 1926 and it spread brilliantly. The food is seasonal, regional and simply excellent. A feast for the eyes for all senses. Can only be recommended and an experience that we repeated the very next evening.
