We had the privilege of celebrating our wedding in the castle cellar, and it was truly fabulous. Even the planning with the Illmann family was incredibly pleasant and uncomplicated. With great attention and attention to detail, the Illmann family helped us plan the decorations, leaving nothing to be desired. Our guests, like us, were absolutely thrilled not only with the delicious Swabian cuisine and the friendly service, but also with the breathtaking panoramic view. It was a truly unforgettable and beautiful wedding celebration. Many thanks again to the Illmann family and the entire Schlosskeller team for making this day so special for our guests and us!

We celebrated our wedding in the Schlosskeller two weeks ago. The view from the top is fantastic, and parking was no problem either. The food was delicious, the service was always friendly and attentive – and the entire process ran smoothly from the first to the last minute. The tables were tastefully set. Even though we arrived later than planned with our wedding party, there was no noticeable delay. Everything started right as all the guests had settled in. It's clear that the Schlosskeller hosts many weddings and other events and therefore has a lot of experience. Our expectations were exceeded in every respect; we couldn't have chosen a better location. The little children had a great time too, and overall, we received very positive feedback from our guests about the venue. Many thanks to the entire Schlosskeller team for the fantastic service and the delicious food! We are so glad we celebrated this day with you.

we (a small family with 2 children) love this location for its warm hosts, the sensational view, the excellent food, and the fair prices. Especially for guests to whom we want to show Herrenberg, we particularly recommend the Schlosskeller in summer. The climb is worthwhile in every respect! You can enjoy the view, refresh yourself, and take a walk around the ruins of Herrenberg Castle. The atmosphere is truly unique – a mix between a beer garden and a hilltop café.

Nice place to have a drink and a bite to eat. Great view, especially on a clear day. We were there again yesterday and were impressed by the very helpful and dedicated staff. Despite staffing shortages, they were very friendly and courteous, and they served every guest quickly and well. It's rare to find something like this, and it was truly outstanding. High praise!

Very nice location with a great view Friendly and helpful staff

The Schlosskeller is an absolute insider tip for a cozy evening in summer temperatures. You can reach it from the city center via a few steps behind the church, or you can park in one of the approximately 10 free parking spaces within 50 meters. 900 meters further on is a larger parking lot for hikers, which offers two direct routes to the Schlosskeller. Here you have a great view and a good selection of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. People come here less for the food than to linger, although the food is absolutely fine and, as mentioned, the prices are very reasonable. You might be surprised by the Schnipo schnitzel with fries, which at first looks like a simple frozen schnitzel, but is surprisingly juicy when you bite into it. The staff is very attentive and does their best. It's worth taking a short walk here, combining the view from the Schlossberg with a short tour of the animal adventure trail or many other small paths and trails. You can also bring your dog, which makes things even more convenient. We like to go there every now and then. On nice evenings, however, you might have to wait a bit for a table outside to become available.

There's a wonderful view all the way to the Swabian Alb. Even in the heat, the shady umbrellas make it pleasant to sit outside. The service is okay. Since we only had drinks, I can't comment on the food.

The restaurant benefits greatly from its location, with a beautiful view and really good service. They make every effort to satisfy all guests' wishes. Nevertheless, the food overall is average to good 😇. Parking is somewhat limited, and you have to drive down a relatively narrow road to get there. It's better to walk 🤣.

From April to September, the outdoor terrace under the parasols with its beautiful south-facing view is a must-visit. The value for money is good.

I really can't understand all the positive reviews. We went there and the first thing we noticed was how upset one of the employees was that another one wasn't working. We ordered something anyway, but apart from the drinks I can't find anything good there. The cheese spaetzle was okay, the spaetzle with sauce didn't taste good and the Maultaschen salad was terrible. I have no idea if they were actually Maultaschen with meat (I saw that they do have vegetarian ones, but I wasn't asked which one I wanted) and the "mixed salad" looked like a ready-made mix with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes thrown in. The Maultaschen also tasted extremely of caraway. I have no idea if that's normal in Herrenberg, but I didn't like it. The only positive thing was that the food came quickly. But the cheese spaetzle was cold and the spaetzle with sauce was piping hot. We definitely won't be going again. We didn't think the view was that great either.

Insider tip! Great atmosphere, excellent service, and a magnificent view of Herrenberg, the Swabian Alb, and Tübingen. The view faces south. Especially in summer, this beer garden is ideal for cool refreshments and culinary delights. In midsummer, a summer cinema takes place here for a limited time on the plateau above the beer garden. Fantastic wine selection, including the fresh white wine "Omsnomgugga" pictured here, as well as the rosé wine of the same name. Extensive food selection, and the daily specials (see picture) always feature new dishes. Nice, large dance floor inside. It is available for private events/parties/weddings/birthdays. The manager provides music equipment, but you can also bring your own. This dance floor can also be used as a club/disco. But only for private rentals. A must-visit! An absolute insider tip in Herrenberg! I'm a regular here in the summer.

I celebrated my milestone birthday in the castle cellar with almost 50 people, and it was simply perfect! The location is unbeatable with its view and relaxed atmosphere. The burger buffet, including patties straight from the grill, was of very high quality and received special praise from my guests. Added to that were the delicious house lemonades and the wide selection of drinks, and finally, the cozy finish by the fire bowl. The organization was completely uncomplicated. As the birthday boy and host, I could simply sit back and enjoy the celebration to the fullest. I would like to thank Dieter and his team for this fantastic evening!

We booked the Schlosskeller for a confirmation celebration and were completely satisfied. The friendly owners supported us well with the planning. The venue was beautifully decorated, and we had a wonderful buffet for our guests. The relaxed atmosphere and excellent service allowed us to relax and celebrate with abandon. Conclusion: Disappointing!!! We came to this restaurant because of consistently good reviews! Restaurant? A snack bar or bistro would be better. The schnitzels are loveless ready-made products and are then served fried and sold as Wiener Schnitzel style. It's been several hours since the visit and I still can't understand how someone can run a restaurant with such culinary skills. There will not be another visit here!

Was there for the first time on Sunday April 27th. Everything was good, the food, the service, very friendly staff and the owners were also very nice. The location and the view are great. Definitely I'll come back. Also positive: it is good for cyclists and hikers, but also recommended for other purposes.

We had a great family celebration with 34 people. Despite the cool weather, it was a very successful party. Nice owners, fair prices, good food and a great ambience outside (with a small atmospheric wood stove inside) created a great atmosphere. I would happily recommend it!

Nice view from the former castle

We were there on a Sunday afternoon when the weather was nice. The beer garden was well attended. We waited almost 30 minutes for someone to bring us a card, then got one ourselves. When a waitress finally felt responsible for us, she was friendly and accommodating. The food was quite good, but nothing special.

After the Nature Friends House unexpectedly closed on Sunday evening, we quickly needed an alternative. The beer garden looked nice, so we headed out. What we didn't expect, but was still very welcome, was the climb to the beer garden through the castle garden. Quite steep, but very beautiful. The beer garden itself is wonderfully located on the hillside, wasn't too overcrowded and we received a warm welcome. Good Swabian food with local beer as it should be, plus homemade lemonade and iced tea, we were all thrilled, including the children. Attention: Payment by card is only possible via Paypal.

The beautiful location above the Herrenberg market square alone makes this restaurant worth visiting. From here you have a fantastic view of the city and the surrounding Gäu. There is also a good selection of food and cakes here. The service was quick and friendly.

We had a big company/employee party on July 6th, 2024. here. The weather didn't cooperate at all, but everything still went smoothly. The guests were enthusiastic, as were the live musicians, the ambience was great, the organization was completely uncomplicated, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food (especially the grilling) was highly praised. I can only recommend this location - even in bad weather.

Hi! On June 11th we had a special event and ordered the grill. From a culinary point of view, everything was great and was completely sufficient. The team put a lot of effort into serving all the invited guests (approx. 50). Supplies were always provided and the quality of the meat was good to very good. Thanks for the nice evening :)

One of the best restaurants I know.

70s celebration I celebrated my rounds in the castle cellar with a band in the vaulted cellar and everyone was absolutely thrilled. The location is simply unique. Last but not least, the unique place above the roofs of the city with a fantastic view over the Gäu. The feedback from guests was all positive. Super delicious food (winter barbecue), with a delicious buffet, selected good wines and even the vegetarian spread of the appetizers at the champagne reception were widely praised. And last but not least, the professional, super nice team right up to the boss. Everything was perfectly organized through and through! Many many thanks! It couldn't be better 👍. Five stars and a clear recommendation!

Meine Geburtstagsparty im Schlosskeller war toll! Vorab eine unkomplizierte und flexible Absprache. Während des Abends hatten wir ein Grillbuffet auf der Terrasse, das den Gästen - auch den Vegetariern- super geschmeckt hat. Die anschließende Party, sowohl im Keller, als auch im Lokal - mit viel gelobtem Käsebuffet zur späten Stunde- war der der krönende Abschluss. Getränke wurden prompt geliefert. Tolle Atmosphäre und freundliches Personal. Ich würde wieder dort feiern!

Essen war sehr gut. Der Ausblick auf Herrenberg uns dessen Umkreis beim Essen ist super schön. Nur machen die Portionen nicht wirklich satt, dafür aber sehr angenehme Preise

Wir haben am letzten Samstag eine traumhafte Hochzeit dort gefeiert und waren sehr beeindruckt, wie wunderschön die Tische dekoriert wurden. Das Team war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Das Essen vom Grill (mit eigenem Grillmeister) und Salatbuffet waren sehr lecker. Es gab auch genug Auswahl für Vegetarier und auch die Getränke und Cocktails waren sehr gut. Mega Location mit schöner Aussicht, am Abend und bis in die Nacht schön beleuchtet und dazu noch Lagerfeuer:-) Vielen Dank an das Team für die außergewöhnliche Atmosphäre.

The restaurant has a nice view. You can go by car it has almost 10 parking spots or you can have a short hike there. Dishes are a bit pricey. Overall it was nice.
