Schloss Schenke in Ellwangen (Jagst)

We were passing through and the atmosphere impressed us. Unfortunately, that was it. The potato salad, supposedly homemade, had the consistency and taste of ready-made produce from a bucket. The salad turned out to be a crudité bowl half filled with potato salad. The house dressing, some viscous mixture of vinegar and sweet mustard, came out of the bottle drop by drop. Of course I could have tried to pull apart the huge lettuce leaves and, with a lot of patience, somehow dress them up with the dressing... but for the money... No thanks! I have given up. The waitress initially ignored our plates and cleared them away when I asked. It would be the same for you, was your comment... Well, okay. At least I didn't have any stomach problems as we continued our journey. My companion wasn't that lucky.

Full marks! Excellent, friendly service, excellent cuisine and first-class value for money. We were here for the second time and again everything was perfect. The restaurant is in a fantastic location, so you stop and enjoy the view before you go in. There is also a very nice playground next to the building. 🛝 The decor is cozy and inviting, and there is ample parking. The menu is not overloaded, but still offers a good selection of delicious dishes. What's particularly nice is that the ingredients are sourced as regionally and seasonally as possible. We chose a large salad, which was served with a bottle of the finest dressing. The main course was an onion roast (perfectly on point) and Swabian cheese dumplings. Every dish was a delight – especially the sauces! 😍 We'll definitely be back. Many thanks to the entire team!

Just wanted to have a coffee at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (3 people). We were told there was no cafe. We would like to sit down and order something to eat from 5:30 p.m. .... then left again.

The food was quite good, there is a lot of emphasis on regional ingredients. It's a shame that if you unsubscribe from something, it still comes, as food waste could really be prevented. The fact that we had to wait an hour and a half for our food despite having a reservation was also rather suboptimal.

Everything is perfect, ambience, service, food is great

The worst meal in a long time. Result of the stay, gastrointestinal problems! We all ordered a BBQ pot. Probably nothing was prepared here at all. You can't call this cooking. Tasted like ready-made products and frozen goods full of glutamate and unhealthy flavor enhancers. Spaetzle were totally watered down, terrible sauce probably. from the package just before inedible, 2 pieces of baked frozen onion rings, 1 piece of mini lye pretzel as decoration on top. The only thing missing was the Pringles chips. Alleged beef tenderloin was anything but tenderloin. Pork medallions not even fried and completely unseasoned. Last but not least, put a lump of ice in the pan. It was probably intended as a herb butter. Unfortunately it didn't thaw until the end. As a side note, it was 33 degrees in the beer garden. Everything in a small pan. Without extra plates. Cutting in the pan is only possible to a limited extent. Metal on metal. Not so healthy. In addition, everything was already served cold. Small downside, the beer garden and the local beer were OK. The staff was very nice. All in all, unfortunately only the drinks menu can be recommended.

Simply great, good food, nice ambience and the waiter/ress is just super nice. I haven't sat so well in a long time.

Since I live in Frankfurt, I rarely come across authentic, delicious Swabian food. This restaurant is by far the best when it comes to Swabian cuisine. I can't lie that I've never eaten as deliciously as I did there (see picture)! After your meal you can take a great digestive walk to the castle next door and enjoy the view over Ellwangen. There is also a great playground for children where they can let off steam while you enjoy the food without worries or stay seated for a nightcap. Great, friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Only recommended!

The menu is not too big. A fine selection of regional products. Very good in taste and quality. Service friendliness was ok for most employees. One star deducted for the galloping price increase. A roast for just under €28 with just a filling side dish and a small mixed salad costs almost another €6. A portion of cheese spaetzle for 15.90. This is no longer affordable for everyone. Considering that the competition in Ellwangen is dwindling more and more, the restaurant can obviously afford this pricing policy.

Great food and beer. Spoon/straw for coffee affogato, very uncomfortable both as a teaspoon and as a straw. Inattentive service. I asked if it was possible to pay by card and I was told yes, at the time of payment a different waitress told me that card payments were not possible because the business had been offline since the morning.

Lunch break is important and that's a good thing, but it's not written anywhere and there are menus on the tables that give the impression that you can order anything on them. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat :-( and the Spezi is a bit expensive for a mixture at 4 euros for 0.4l. I'll have to test food at some point.

Went spontaneously on Saturday for a beer and ice cream after the walk at the Schloss Schenke, the service was friendly, the price was great and this great expanded playground even gets 10 🌟.

It was very tasty and cozy. We'd love to come back.

We were served very, very friendly here and were able to sit comfortably on the terrace 😊 The food is good, especially the salad dressing is awesome 👌🏻The schnitzel was a little flat seasoned but otherwise very good and also very fair in terms of price 👏🏻👍🏻

Nice here in itself, I used to be there often and it was always great, But if we have to wait 45 minutes for drinks and 1.5 hours for food, that's really a disgrace, After the food came after 1.5 there was a plastic film in the salad (well that can happen) But cold croquettes after 1.5 just don't work! The price is ok, but portions are getting smaller and the price stays the same That was my second review in my life but it was necessary to write one.

Wonderful inn where you can eat very well. All in all, it was great... There was sauerbraten of wild boar... Great!

Sehr gutes gutbürgerliches Restaurant direkt beim Schloss Ellwangen. Die Karte ist nicht allzu groß, aber alles ist sehr lecker und die überwiegend traditionell schwäbischen Gerichte haben oft eine besondere Note (z.B. Röstzwiebeln in der Panade beim Schnitzel). Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Preise sind vollkommen angemessen. Wirklich absolut empfehlenswert!

Essen und Ambiete ist wirklich super, aber der Service ist eine Katastrophe. Die Bedienung ist trotz Nachfrage 1 h nicht zum Essen aufnehmen gekommen. Wir waren mit Kindern dort. Das Essen haben wir letztendlich nach 2,5 Std bekommen, das ist für uns ein NO GO. Wir waren wirklich oft und gern dort, aber ich bin nicht bereit so lange auf das Essen zu warten.

Das Essen war gut, allerdings mussten wir über eine Stunde warten. Die Begründung war, dass der Koch ja mehr Platz für die Filterstücken auf dem Grill brauche😄🤦

Wir haben Kässpätzle gegessen, die waren sehr lecker, aber leider mussten wir 2 Bedienungen insgesamt 4 x darauf ansprechen das wir gerne zahlen würden , das geht gar nicht, sie hat sich zwar vielmals entschuldigt aber ich hab noch nie ne halbe Stunde auf die Rechnung gewartet

Excellent restaurant bar. In the Schloss Schenke area. I took the spanferkele as a main course, a good wine to accompany my meal. It was delicious. I highly recommend to go there. The staff is friendly and professional.

Wir waren heute nach einer Wanderung dort eingekehrt und wurden freundlich empfangen, Essen war sehr lecker und für den Preis lässt sich kein Haar in der Suppe finden. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Mein Spanferkel mit leckeren Spätzle war sehr zu empfehlen.

Schpeisekarte stimmt nicht mit dem aus dem Internet überein, Speisekarte ist unschön eingerollt und unangenehm zu halten. Servic ist mittelmäsig, ist nicht datu breit einen Löffel zu bringen

Mega leckeres Essen und noch dazu toll angerichtet.. Einzig die Pommes mit schnitzel waren etwas lieblos serviert. Das Personal war super freundlich und man konnte gemütlich sitzen.

Sehr schöner Ort zum Entspannen, Relaxen und Essen. Leider war mein Essen (Schnitzel mit Pommes) nicht das, was ich mir erhofft hatte. Schnitzel hat leider nicht geschmeckt. Erstens zu klein. Zweitens sieht es wie vom Discounter aus. Die Pommes waren nicht ganz durch. Das Bier muss kälter serviert werden. Ansonsten sind genügend Parkplätze vorhanden und Plätze zum Sitzen. Die Preis-Leistung ist meines Erachtens nicht ganz gut, der Bierpreis ist gut, der Preis für das Essen überhöht.

Auch wir waren vor 3 Tagen da und fanden die große dunkelhaarige Servicemitarbeiterin ganz schlimm...Als wir kamen wollte uns ein junger Mitarbeiter zum Tisch bringen und wurde dann von ihr, vor uns, zurechtgewiesen. Es war sehr unangenehm und man hat sich den ganzen Abend unwohl gefühlt. Essen und Ambiente top, aber mit so jemanden im Service extrem schwierig, leider....

Normal kenne ich die Schloss Schenke ja als recht gute Location für den Abschluss nach einem Ausflug zum Schloss und Umgebung. So auch heute , als ich Familienbesuch von weiter weg hatte. Etwas verwundert war ich, als die Bedienung uns sah und registrierte und dann aber nie mehr an den Tisch kam. Ich bin dann herein gegangen und musste leider die Unterhaltung der 2 Bedienungen unterbrechen, um etwas zu bestellen. Das gleiche Spiel dann später beim Bezahlen. Der Kuchen war ok, aber recht klein, dafür preislich eher im oberen Bereich. Allgemein wirkten die Bedienungen allgemein leicht genervt und gelangweilt. Leute, das geht besser ,und habe es auch schon besser erlebt! Heute leider nur 3 Sterne.

Man sitzt dort relativ gemütlich bei tollem Ambiente - direkt neben dem Schloss. Wir hatten herrlicher Abendsonne und die Getränke kamen steht's fix auf den Tisch. Einziger Kritikpunkt: das Russ war nix. Das war weder ein Hefeweizen noch hat der "süße Sprudel" was getaugt - da wäre mir das Paulaner Russ 10x lieber gewesen.
