Schlemmerstube in Herten

New, very friendly owners have been in charge for three weeks now. Currywurst with fries taste just as delicious as they did under the previous owners. The fries are a bit thinner. The total portion size is perfectly adequate. Anyone who doesn't get full here has a problem and should ask themselves what's going wrong.

The new owners are doing a really good job. Everything tastes good—everything is very tasty and clean. The homemade schnitzels are a delight. Keep it up.

Please note that most of the photos here are outdated. Since July, 25 new operators have been operating, and they're currently in a kind of experimental phase. The menu and special offers shown are no longer valid. Where are we headed? As regular customers of the previous operators, we were disappointed, but perhaps things will get better. Good luck!

Since the new owner took over, there's been less on the plate. Prices have remained relatively the same. I can't get enough of it anymore. I tried it once after the change of operator, and I won't be coming back for a while...

The food was very good. The sauce was homemade, and you could tell. There's plenty of seating, and I was surprised that, for such a small chip shop, you can still get something these days that doesn't come from the frozen food counter. Keep it up.

Some users' reviews are incomprehensible! We were also skeptical after the change of ownership, but we were pleasantly surprised. The portions are more than enough and the prices are great 👍 Please, dear Schlemmerbuden team, don't let the negative comments get you down. You're doing a great job, and a chip shop is not a 3-star restaurant!

Hello, I ate there twice today and I have to say it was very 👍 The gyros are marinated in spices before processing, the sauces are made in-house, the tzatziki is amazing, a house recipe and really superb. That's the positive thing, now comes the negative thing and it doesn't come from the new tenants but from the customers (who have been eating there for decades). There are so many negative comments here about how it was in the opening week, chaotic, not structured, etc. The problem is that people compare everything with how it used to be. The saying "old brooms sweep clean" is used to express that experienced people who have been there for a long time (in this case 16 years = previous tenant) have done everything better, so the next tenant has little chance of proving their potential. Just let yourself be surprised. Have you noticed while shopping that EVERYTHING has gotten more expensive? I think €5.50 for a currywurst with fries is a great deal. (I don't think this price will stay this low.) "Live and let live" translates to an attitude of tolerance and acceptance. And if someone really has a problem, there's still the option of addressing the person (owner) directly if something bothers them, like not enough fries or something similar, rather than immediately posting everything on Google reviews. Life's a saying: Give everyone a second chance, because eventually you'll need one yourself. I just had to get that off my chest. Best wishes, Silke.

Food is not so good today Hawaii schnitzel was drowned in hollandaise, finished product, fries too wobbly, salad also zero 🤢🤢

The food was cold, as they had to make two trips because part of the order was forgotten. The portions were much too small for the price, and the taste was just ordinary or nothing special. The staff seemed overwhelmed, although there was no reason for it. There are many better snack bars and restaurants in Herten and the surrounding area. We cannot recommend it.

So, today I ate there for the first time since the change of ownership, and I have to say that I enjoyed the food almost as much as it did under the old owners. The fries are thinner but tasty. The meat was good, and the tzatziki was a bit spicier because they added more garlic. However, I quickly noticed that the portions had gotten smaller, which didn't really fill me up. I addressed the whole thing and said that for me, two gyro burgers (for colleagues) usually costing €17, it was too expensive, especially for the small portion of gyro plates (for me), which is different from what I've come to expect and love at Schlemmerstube. I've been eating there regularly for over 18 years and am a regular customer... I'm actually going to consider not going there anymore because it doesn't appeal to me anymore, and I'll miss the old touch of the lady and her husband. Especially because they had larger portions, the current plates are prepared more sparingly, which I don't think is a bad thing, but it has at most changed the feel of the Schlemmerstube because EVERYONE is used to that there, at least I think so. I think everyone from the surrounding area and from Bertlich, as well as my friends and family, will quickly notice this and confirm the same. This is NOT a negative statement or assessment, since everyone has to get into something at the beginning when taking over the shop, but for me, the €17 today was not a good investment. Maybe that will change someday, but if it doesn't, I won't be eating there again. Until then, all the best to you and love 🫶🏼

I was there after a change of operator, sorry, but you'll have to up your game to convince me. Portions were small, and the flavor wasn't exactly explosive. I'll try it again in a month; I'm supposed to give it a second chance. If anything improves in my opinion, I'll of course update my review.

I went there after the change of management, but wasn't that impressed. The curry sauce was quite thin, tasted like any chip shop that uses the same sauce from a bucket, maybe too watered down? The splash of mayo wasn't worth the extra cost. So much for opening night. On the second visit, the completely over-salted gyro I described above was added. One bad thing can happen in the hustle and bustle of the opening, but two isn't so nice. And the new owners had been so praised beforehand – I wonder why? I'll try again in six months if the place is still there, which I doubt given the current quality, since the people from Westerholt aren't stupid. Finally, praise to the previous owners: you two were always great! But you're retired now.

Simply delicious! If you're looking for a truly original snack bar with heart and quality, this is the place for you!

Preis-/Leistung unschlagbar! Super leckere Pommes, Gyros, Currywurst, Schnitzel TOP, die Champignonrahmsoße super...das Essen hat uns echt begeistert!!! Die Preise sind mehr als fair, die Lieferung schnell, das Essen heiß. Ein Punkt Abzug, weil heute niemand zu erreichen ist, obwohl bei Google und in der Karte steht, dass Sonntags geöffnet ist. Kleiner Tipp: Anrufbeantworter mit aktuellen Öffnungszeiten laufen lassen, dann ist man wenigstens informiert.

Der Gyroswrap ist ein Gedicht und die Pommes sind sehr gut,weil immer frisch gemacht.Sehr nettes Ehepaar als Inhaber. Lebt wohl hauptsächlich vom ausser Haus Verkauf und Lieferservice.Man kann natürlich auch drinnen essen, Ambiente ist halt das einer Pommesbude,ich finde es okay,weil sauber.Gibt auch Pizza,Schnitzel,Currywurst und natürlich die gesamte Palette der griechischen Küche. Sehr umfangreiche Karte, mein aktueller Lieblingsimbiss in Herten.

Ich bin eigentlich immer sehr zufrieden. Preis - Leistung passt. Die neue Gyros Box ist super. Aber seit längerem ist Sonntags geschlossen obwohl sowohl Google & die aushängeschilder am Laden sagen es sollte geöffnet sein.

Die einzige und daher auch die beste Pommesbude in Bertlich!! Gute Auswahl und sehr nette Familie, Lieferung auch immer schnell, gut besuchte Pommesbude Große Portionen und alles sehr frisch!

Der beste Imbiss im Umkreis! Die Besitzer sind Mega freundlich. Das Essen spricht für sich. Egal ob Schnitzel (welche selbst paniert werden), Pizza (nicht zu ölig und leckerer Boden), Grillteller (bestes Gyrosfleisch überhaupt) oder nur Pommes (immer schön knusprig und perfekt gewürzt), die Qualität spricht eindeutig für sich. Was das Preis Leistungsverhältnis betrifft ist die Schlemmerstube einfach unschlagbar. Immer wieder gerne.

Leider kann ich mich den überwiegend positiven Kommentaren nicht anschließen: Ich habe in den letzten drei Wochen dort an unterschiedlichen Tagen 2x Essen abgeholt. Beim Gyros war die Hälfte der Portion ungenießbar, da auch der am unteren Spiessende stark angebrannte Rest nicht nur zufällig mit abgeschnitten wurde. Das Hähnchen am Freitag war schon länger fertiggerillt und wurde ungefragt in der Mikrowelle erhitzt. Ein NoGo wegen des sich in der MW verändernden Geschmacks bei Hühnerfleisch, was entsprechend neutral schmeckte, abgesehen von der starken Würzung der Haut.(Dann besser einmal kurz in die Fritteuse.) Nur die Pommes als Beilage, waren jedesmal gut. Die drei Punkte gebe ich nur wegen der freundlichen Inhaber, aber sorry, es gibt deutlich bessere Grillimbisse in der Bahnhofstraße von Westerholt.

Habe eine Pizza zum Mitnehmen bestellt. War noch heiß, als ich zu Hause an kam. Hat sehr gut geschmeckt.
