Schlemmerich in Emmerich am Rhein

Update March 2025: Tried it again today and to our delight we had a very good dinner today! Fair's fair. For now the following is N/A. 2024 A lot of salt and flavor enhancers on the products. Also a lot of ready-made stuff from jars, bags or frozen in the salad bar. That salt is of course to attract thirsty customers who then order a drink for a hefty price. Also received a bill that was much too high, this was handled correctly (so be careful when you order something and calculate it yourself). Our order was taken behind the cash register while the table is 3 meters away, this was also seen by fellow guests, and some bickering was also observed between staff. What was also striking was that the schnitzels we ordered before 3 p.m. were half as large... as those I saw served after 3 p.m. In 1 year: Our first visit was perfect, that's why we came back, the 2nd was less because there were no more products (because of King's Day, a lot of crowds with Dutch people, you have to know and respond to that, that's business..) and now the 3rd time it's over with the above experience. Too bad because the location is very good. They need to shake things up in the kitchen and divide the service and work better. I think it's too much work for too few people.

Delicious schnitzel. You only eat them like this in Germany. Highly recommended at this restaurant.

Highly recommended, I was there for the first time 5 years ago and it was really great and the same thing today, although we have to drive 1 hour there, it's worth it for us!!!

Compared to everything, price, quality of the dishes, you will hardly find this in the Netherlands. Service also very friendly.

Was there 5 months ago and was great, the service everything was great, a young man served me was great and now it's bad and I don't think it's great when my coffee comes to my table half poured. We went to Schlemmerich today and wanted to eat waffles with ice cream. After we weren't given a menu because the waffles weren't listed there, we simply ordered 4 waffles with cream and ice cream, a cola (200ml) and a cocoa without any price information. The food was delicious, service was okay. When we wanted to pay we were told to pay €53. For 4 waffles with ice cream and two drinks. So more than €10 for a waffle with standard vanilla ice cream. Really completely overpriced. So ask for prices beforehand if you don't offer a card. We really feel ripped off.

The food itself was tasty, we had steak. Service was excellent, very friendly employee, also made appreciated jokes. The atmosphere was cozy, nicely decorated.

On a beautiful sunny day on the terrace on the Rhine. A delicious schnitzel with mushroom sauce and spicy fries. Free salad bar where you can grab something. Really good meat and lots of it! I had trouble getting it off and I don't have that often :) I visited this restaurant because locals recommended it, which says it all. Recommended!

Wonderful place for an excellent breakfast. There was a large selection of fresh cheese, fish and delicious cold cuts, as well as scrambled eggs and baked goods. Bacon and hot drinks as much as you want. The service was very friendly and attentive. We'll be back!!!

Besides just delicious food for relatively little money

Beautiful terrace with quite competitive prices. Fries are pricey and not of the highest quality, but they are certainly fine. Beers are tasty and the view is great

We were thirsty and had to drink a beer. Watched the goings-on on the Rhine. A cozy place in the sun. We received friendly service.

The breakfast buffet was beautifully decorated, rich and good. I didn't like the fact that you have to pay extra for water to dilute a juice at a price of 18.50.

It was really tasty, we were out with a whole group and everyone else enjoyed it.

Sat here for a while and ate something. The view was simply wonderful. Price-performance ratio is right and the personal was very friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back.

Ordered a mixed grill for 2 people (Thursday September 5, 2024), but the 4 types of meat looked like the soles of shoes, so dry and well done. The waiter that day was a very grumpy person. For those high prices and bad food, I definitely recommend this place not on.

The cooks are absent between 3 and 5 p.m. Also, no other place is recommended for a schnitzel

Very very large portions of food and very very tasty. Delicious. The waitress was very nice, the place was nice and well decorated. Everything is correct. The toilet is neat. 10/10 for me. I will definitely come back. ❤️

Yesterday I ate a bratwurst with curry sauce, it was just ketchup with curry powder. And that for 16.90 euros. The beer prices are also very overpriced. Will never go there again.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic menu. When we entered we sat in the first front section inside, the chairs were really comfortable, the coffee I ordered came quickly and was delicious. However, after ordering the rest of the drinks we had to move tables as the light above us was flickering. This is dangerous for anyone who has epilepsy. We moved inside as far away from the flickering light as we could. The salad was fresh, really tasty and there was olive oil available. (Always a plus!) The service was great and although one waiter didn't reply in English he understood perfectly. When I used the toilet, I didn't need to ask for directions, the waitress spotted me immediately as I walked through and offered the information. (I noted that all the staff did this, seemingly reading the minds of customers) great service. One toilet was out of order in the ladies, but the other was functional and clean. Cigarettes were on sale from a vending machine. We all ordered the Schnitzel. Pepper sauces and mushroom. The sauces were in large portions and exceptional quality. It came with an ample portion of chips which were crispy and delicious. I would definitely go back there. My only problem was with the light flickering, which can cause epileptic seizure, but the rest? Wonderful 😁🥰

I had dinner here with my family a few days ago, and even during the staff shortage we received quick and friendly service. The waitress was very nice and I have to say even though the restaurant was full, we were very relaxed. The food was very tasty and succulent and we complimented the kitchen several times. We would love to come back and can highly recommend this gem on the promenade

Went there late in the morning for breakfast at the breakfast buffet. The scrambled eggs with bacon were cold and were not kept warm. The normal rolls were old, so they tasted dry and sticky and you could hardly get through the rock-hard crust with the roll knife when cutting them. Then I saw a man from the staff filling up the orange juice container with OJ from the plastic bottle, in front of everyone involved, which once again shows that there wasn't much fresh at breakfast. In addition, you start to doubt the professionalism of the staff. I then wanted to grab a glass from the counter, which had some streaks and food residue on it and was also slightly sticky. The fruit wasn't fresh either and tasted sour, like it came from a can. At least the croissants were still fresh and warm and the service was nice, apart from the actually great location. But unfortunately it really wasn't worth it.

We have lived in Germany for years, but €6.50 for a glass of white wine is not done by "German" standards. From now on we will go to Onder de Poort or Estrella, always super fun and for a reasonable price!

Typisch Duits restaurant met terras aan het water. Op de kaart de typische gerechten. Aankleding basic zoals je verwacht. Heerlijke schnitzel gegeten. Er was, zelfs op een zonnige zaterdagmiddag voldoende ruimte voor een groep van 8.

💋🍦I practiced there for two days and would like to say that it is an excellent restaurant, the food is amazing, the cappuccino is to die for, the place looks amazing, even the staff seemed ok, I had one couple of really super communicative bosses, when I had any questions, they answered me patiently, I recommend this restaurant with all my heart 😊

The sun was shining so we sat on the terrace. When it became cloudy and colder, we moved to the conservatory to continue enjoying the beautiful view of the Rhine. Delicious coffee and peach pie. We will definitely come back!

Das Ambiente, der Standpunkt des Restaurants ist gut. Doch das war auch schon alles an Positivem. Die Bedienung wirkte unter Zeitdruck. Das Salatbuffet war klein gehalten, aber nicht fein. Der grüne Salat schmeckte muffig-vllt vom Vortag?!, es war alles sehr lieblos angerichtet. Die Hauptspeise war qualitativ einfach nicht gut! Weder das Schnitzel noch der Fisch. Eine Dessertkarte gab es nicht, dem Kellner fiel auf Nachfrage ein, dass er für unsere Tochter noch eine Kugel Vanilleeis hätte. Alles sehr seltsam. Die WC-Einrichtung hat eine Renovierung nötig. Keinerlei Deko am Waschbecken oder dergleichen, teils kaputte Fliesen. Wir werden das Restaurant nicht mehr besuchen!!

We had a very tasty meal here, the menu is quite extensive, we opted for the schnitzel which we could not finish. There were two on top of each other but they were super tasty! The waiter was a very friendly man with a nice sense of humor and helpful. Location is perfect, you look straight at the Rhine where all the boats pass by. Unfortunately, it is less suitable for disabled people and is not suitable for wheelchairs, the toilet is down two flights of stairs.

We hebben hier erg lekker gegeten, de kaart is best uitgebreid, we kozen voor de schnitzel welke we niet op konden krijgen. Er lagen er twee op elkaar maar ze waren super lekker! De bediening was een erg vriendelijke man met leuke humor en behulpzaam. Ligging is perfect, je kijkt recht op de Rijn waar de nodige boten voorbij komen. Helaas voor mindervaliden minder en voor rolstoelers niet geschikt, toilet is twee trappen naar beneden.

Hello guys. Well I have to say the service was very quick. The warm chocolate was very good. I was just a bit surprised about the bill. They charged 4.50 euros for a piece of cake and I thought that was steep. The restaurant It was very clean and nicely furnished, but if you have to go to the toilets, you first have to walk up stairs, which is not so good for older people or those with walking difficulties. Then the toilet covers on both toilets were hanging at half past seven. The plaster was falling off on the walls. Then come We went to wash our hands. No water came out of one crane and some water came out of the others. The same thing was in the men's toilet. My conclusion: The restaurant is great but you can forget the rest.

A restaurant that is beautifully located on the Rhine promenade in Emmerich. The restaurant is nicely decorated. But the toilets could be modernized. They're a little old-fashioned, as they say. The service was top notch. Rarely have I had such good service. The boss should do everything to ensure that she stays. The food was also great. There is a salad buffet there, which is small but still good. I ordered and received a Trout Müllerin style. It was perfectly prepared. I can therefore only recommend the restaurant.

Today, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, I went to the 'Restaurant Schlemmerich' around 10:30 a.m. to have breakfast there - trusting in the opening times according to the homepage. I found the restaurant closed -- in contradiction to the information on the homepage "Breakfast Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m." Another facet in the gastronomic service desert of Germany. Thank you very much - for nothing! One star only because the system doesn't allow zero stars. ================

We were very disappointed. We were given the menu and afterwards we saw that there was also a lunch menu. When the staff asked about it, I forgot we got an answer. The food was boring, although the portion was large but less and the taste was boring. Everything rough and loveless. No thanks, there are better restaurants.
