Very cozy restaurant. Food was very tasty, value for money was good. Service also friendly. We will definitely come back the next time we visit Berlin.

I stopped here by chance and finally experienced some authentic Berlin flair. The autographs on the walls testify to a prominent, eventful past. Time stands still here for a moment, and that's exactly how it should be. You meet people from diverse cultures who find exactly what they're looking for. A little piece of Berlin as it used to be. Rustic and honest.

Definitely worth it. Portion are huge. Delicious German cuisine! Historical and cozy authentic experience.

An excellent, classic German eatery! This place probably ranks among the most classic and traditional German restaurants in town. The knuckle of pork, both baked and boiled, is exactly how it supposed to be. So is the sauerkraut and the potato salad and the beer of course. The service is very Germanic but very fast.

Eisbein, an authentic German restaurant, was also soft and delicious. The kids also enjoyed eating the schnitzel.

A great restaurant!!! The men felt very comfortable. The food was great. The service was great. I had forgotten my hat. I got a call and picked her up. Now I owe a mango ice cream. In summary, great, friendly and delicious. I'll be back. (With mango ice cream)

Typical German food, nothing more. Very strong odors of chilled oil and other indescribable ones. A little unpleasant.

Turtle is tradition for us. When we are in Berlin, turtle is a must!!! Wonderful place, delicious food for a very good price, and great service !!

Full marks from me. Unobtrusive positive atmosphere, noise level acceptable. The service was very attentive and Berlin-friendly. The food without complaint, which is not that easy with Königsberger Klopsen. 👍🏼

Rating of New Year's Eve/New Year 2024/25. A little late, but better late than never :) We made reservations online for New Year's Eve, which worked out very well. The food was very tasty, rich and cheap. The service was top...very nice service. A very cozy inn with a great history. So many celebrities who were already there. Because we liked it so much, we went there again on New Year's Day...and...it was great again. When we are back in Berlin we will definitely go there again. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, clear recommendation!

Rustic and incredibly delicious! Last night we spontaneously went to the SCHILDKRÖTE and luckily we got a table, it was really well attended, and it was during the week. We had 2x farmer's duck with red cabbage and dumplings, super tasty, rarely eaten such a crispy yet tender duck. The service was polite, nice, quick and accommodating. We'll definitely be back. Ambiance is rustic, music was playing quietly in the background in the style of the 20s... great!

Old school type of restaurant. Food was ok as well as service.

Unfortunately not recommended The place was very well filled. However, waiting 30 minutes for the order to be taken is clearly too long. The waiter wasn't particularly accommodating and seemed rather unfriendly. After waiting over an hour for a schnitzel, we were bitterly disappointed. The schnitzel was just mushy and covered in fat. The fried potatoes and the staff at the bar were the positive things about the experience. You could say the name says it all here. On our next trip to Berlin we will look elsewhere. We won't be coming back.

Unfortunately the schnitzel was soggy and the male waiter didn't answer at all. We waited over 30 minutes to be able to order. After that it took another 30 minutes. In addition, the person was totally unfriendly, annoyed and overwhelmed. The person at the bar was really nice and the place was very nice. The name says it all! Not again

A wonderful evening... a very special feeling that only a few places in Berlin can give you. Especially if you were born in Berlin before '89. And the food was very tasty, very plentiful and very honest. Thanks for that too! P.S. the knuckle is a really impressively hefty portion of food... it's definitely too much for the "small hunger" ;)

man with glasses is totally racist. we were the only asian in the restaurant. his attitude was so different with other customers comparing with us. he threw beer and coaster to our table and act so mean to us. why would you be racist rather than be kind? food was fine but it was such a terrible experience

A wonderful place in the middle of Berlin with lots of charm, stories and history. The facility is historic but very well maintained, the whole place is clean and the toilet facilities have been renovated. We had extremely friendly, courteous, humorous support from the host staff both when making a reservation by telephone and when we arrived and the entire time, from ordering to paying. However, we have to deduct a few points when it comes to food, the original Wiener Schnitzel was definitely not fried in clarified butter and sautéed, which unfortunately didn't do justice to the good basic product (we are well aware that in times of staff shortages, compromises are also made in the kitchen must). We'd still like to come back because it's a great place with a great atmosphere.

I love this restaurant. We discovered this wonderful restaurant as we were leaving Kurfürstendamm and quickly agreed to eat here and take our break. The service was very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. The ambience and history of the restaurant are really nice and interesting.

Accessible premises, not so the toilets. Efficient and serious staff. Traditional German food, some ingredients were not to my taste, which does not take away from the fact that they were well prepared. Correct prices, high in drinks compared to Catalonia. They ask you to add a tip, starting at 7%. Traditional decoration, picturesque place. It can be booked by phone and via the web.

We've eaten here over the Christmas holidays for the past two years. The ambience is great as is the service and the food. We will definitely come back this year. 100% recommended. A big thank you to the team.

Very good German, home-style cuisine at very fair prices, especially considering the location right on the Kudamm. We had dinner with two adults and three small children on Friday evening. Very friendly and quick service, even though it was busy. Potato pancakes, homemade brawn and Königsberger meatballs were great! I have saved the knuckle of pork and the knuckle for the next visit. Unreservedly recommended.

If you go you will feel like just another Berliner. The only thing is that if you reserve and don't go, they charge you for the reservation.

We ate here on our first day in Berlin on Christmas day. The restaurant has a good vibe. The food was delicious! We had duck, pork knuckle, schnitzel and rice pudding. All were delicious. Would highly recommend. The price was reasonable* ~€85, considering we had a 3 course meal each and a few beers.

Very tasty German food, very nice service and a rustic atmosphere. Highly recommended, even without a reservation (which you could have made online, as I saw afterwards) it was no problem getting a table on a Saturday evening 🙂

The restaurant looked cozy and the service was friendly. Our starter, tomato soup, tasted good and so expectations for the main course were favorable: The main course arrived and was minimally decorated, something you can expect on Christmas Day. Fries with schnitzel with some cranberry sauce and a bowl of pickles next to it. But okay, it's all about how the food tastes..... Well, in general you can't really go wrong with a schnitzel, but this schnitzel won out by far in terms of lack of any taste. The small amount of cranberry sauce was desperately needed to get some flavor... The fries weren't really good either and the requested mayonnaise was never served. The dessert was not bad, but certainly not very tasty and certainly not in the Christmas spirit. The price was in principle more than reasonable for 3 courses (40 euros p.p.) But due to the total lack of any kind of taste, it ended up being much too expensive. Fortunately, we were able to buy a bratwurst at the Christmas market after dinner, which at least had taste.

Nice old Berlin restaurant, there were 3 of us and we had already stated when ordering that we wanted to eat goose leg. After less than 15 minutes everything was there. Fresh, delicious and juicy. The service was super nice and quick, thank you for everything

Excellent old school German restaurant & bar. The lunch special is only 10 euros. I had little bratwurst & my wife had meatballs. Both were delicious. Also 1st rate beer. Classic 60-70s decor. Since 1936! Highly recommended.

Nice ambience! Wonderfully timeless. Unfortunately my turtle plate was mediocre. The meatballs looked like they had been bought. The herring was good. Service was OK, occasionally a bit inattentive.

Traditional German themed restaurant in a small space with decent food and a laid back atmosphere. Good place to unwind for a while with a beer or grab a bite and meet a friend. A lot of locals come here so if you're a tourist enjoy the vibe.

We hadn't ordered, but we were helped on Saturday evening. Very nice atmosphere. Highly recommended for guests with gluten intolerance - the service and kitchen make everything possible. Thanks again

If you don’t mind sharing table with strangers, go right ahead. The waiter frowned when he heard I was only one person by myself. Then I was left there waiting to place the order, waiting for food then waiting to pay the bill. I don’t know how worse the service can be. They even forced me to tip them.

The duck was so good that I had to come back a second time within a week to eat it again. Unfortunately the second time it wasn't nearly as good as the first time (way too salty), but I have to say the overall experience was very nice. My father ordered the sauerbraten, which was also heavenly. I will come back for that next time.

I am a native of Berlin and wanted to offer our visitors from Karlsruhe a nice evening. Service must have had a really bad day. No eye contact. Only the bare essentials.

We were at the Turtle last night at the end of our Berlin trip, it was simply indescribable. The restaurant as a whole is worth stopping in for once, and the staff goes the extra mile! You feel at home from the first minute and the food is simply incredibly delicious. My daughter and I decided on the grilled knuckle, which was a real task, but I have never eaten such a delicious knuckle before. Many thanks again to the entire team for the great evening, if we stop in Berlin again we will definitely come by, that's not a threat but a promise.

The food was good, prices at Kudamm level, the homemade meatballs were cevapcici size. But the mustard was plentiful and good. Currywurst and schnitzel were perfect. Reply to owner's reaction: Make the meatballs bigger and I'll come back. Update: July 2024 The wife and daughter enjoyed a delicious currywurst, I enjoyed the very tasty potato soup. Since the terrines were apparently all in the dishwasher, the opulent soup was served to me in a coffee cup, so I had to leave the restaurant hungry. Response to recession: Come with a decent terrine and I'll be back in no time.

We ate there for the first time today. The staff was very friendly and flexible. The service was very good at the beginning, but after the meal it left something to be desired. You had to wait a long time. The food was very tasty and the portions were great for the money. One or two side dishes were a bit too salty. It would be great if you worked on these points. The ambience is great. At some point we'll come back and test again.

Delicious in a great atmosphere

It was bombastic! We were 3 people and a 10 month old baby. The atmosphere is wonderful. The service staff as well. The chef was also super nice. I ordered the potato and carrot pancakes for my daughter. They were served in advance so I could chop it up for her and let it cool and then she could eat with us. The knuckle - absolute madness!!! Juicy, crispy, simply mega. I don't know when I last ate such a good knuckle. Not even in Bavaria, I would say. The duck was great too. The only “drawback” was the roast pork. Unfortunately the crust was limp because it was in the sauce and a good half of the meat was just fatty. Unfortunately the person didn't like it that much. On December 23rd We'll be back and I'm already looking forward to it :)

Would not recommend as a tourist or when visiting. Food was pretty good, nice classy german look & feel. However, the (presumed) owner was anything but friendly and made us feel anything but welcome. We spent 4 nights in Berlin, and this was our worst dining experience out of all of them (and unfortunately also the last)

Been there for the second time. The ambience is iconic. Real original Berlin pub. The food was disappointing this time. Same order but loss of quality within a year.

We were lucky and got a table for two without a reservation. In the Turtle, the motto is "eat like a mother" in a relaxed Berlin atmosphere! Super.

As Berliners, we were looking for a place where it was cozy and didn't charge tourist prices. We found the turtle and were thrilled by the ambience alone. Unfortunately, we only have time to have something to drink. We'll be back soon to eat there too. The menu read deliciously. By the way, the dark beer is extremely tasty

Sitting here right now and being thrilled. The food was super delicious! The meat is tender and the portion is large! Price - performance is absolutely right! Gabi served us and was friendly, quick and can at least speak the authentic Berlin dialect! Absolutely fits here! But for the tourists at the next table, English wasn't a problem either.

Typical restaurant with stylish furnishings. Traditional and fairly large menu, excellent choice of dishes and high quality. Fairly efficient service, average prices. Definitely a good choice for a relaxing evening with great food.

Open since 1936, this is a small restaurant serving typical German food, and very good it is too. We visited twice during our few days stay in Berlin. If you get the chance, it is definitely worth visiting. You won't be disappointed.

The food was actually good. However, we waited quite a long time for the food and when I briefly used the toilet, my food was simply taken away. So once and never again.

The Turtle is probably one of the classic old Berlin pubs, right on Kurfürsten-Damm / Uhlandstrasse. Classic Berlin service, Berlin beer. Go in, sit down, take a break. Always recommended.

Very tasty!!! Very true! Nice staff, good service. It's a little stuffy inside, there is no air conditioning system, or it wasn't turned on. But overall - everything is great!

The staff is unfriendly. The food was not delicious. When clearing food or serving it, he would mumble to himself and shake his head left and right, making unpleasant plagiarism. Most of the customers in the restaurant were Asians and the staff was very unkind to us.
