We can only recommend this place for cozy hours with delicious food.

It was truly the worst experience of my life. There were 4 of us and the waiter showed uncommon rudeness as he was in a hurry to take the orders, repeating it in a grumpy way. In addition to the waiters, the rest of the staff, including the owner, proved rude and unbearable. We ordered the boiled shank and the horror was immediately clear to our eyes. The meat was completely raw and you could tell by the bright red color and the blood that came out. Furthermore, the shank was full of boiled fat which was inedible. Noting this to the waiter, he not only limited himself to making fun of us by saying that the meat was red and bloody due to the supposed red salt (which doesn't exist) but he wanted to convince us by showing us ambiguous photos of other shanks and tried to intimidate us by passing constantly near our table and slamming the bill on the table forcefully. What can I say, an absolutely negative experience made worse by the teasing of the waiter who thought we were stupid like him. Stay away from us and don't come here because you will feel bad and they will steal your money. A shame!!!!!!!! I will attach the photo of the raw shank for anyone who wants to see the disgust this place and its dirty employees are capable of.

I felt very comfortable. Good, typical food. Kind and punctual service. Berlin is generally very expensive (around €30 per person per meal), but in this case I spent it willingly. Nice and characteristic environment. Thanks for the welcome!

The food was good, prices at Kudamm level, the homemade meatballs were cevapcici size. But the mustard was plentiful and good. Currywurst and schnitzel were perfect. Reply to owner's reaction: Make the meatballs bigger and I'll come back. Update: July 2024 The wife and daughter enjoyed a delicious currywurst, I enjoyed the very tasty potato soup. Since the terrines were apparently all in the dishwasher, the opulent soup was served to me in a coffee cup, so I had to leave the restaurant hungry.

Very cozy place. Pleasant and service-oriented service with a twinkle in the eye. The portions are large and the food is good. Very pleasant experience!

The Turtle is a nice little inn near Ku-Damm. The food is hearty and delicious. The Alster is more like a beer, but that's okay. The service is typical tavern.

Ordered Wiener Schnitzel with fries and pork knuckle. The schnitzels were very small (both together at most as big as DIN A5) with soggy breading without bubbles and bland fries, some of which were only lukewarm. The knuckle had a good crust and was tender. Unfortunately, the knuckle was poorly seasoned and the sauce was a bit watery. The service was polite but unfortunately a little unstoppable, so we couldn't complain about the food. When we paid, the disappointment was so noticeable that we weren't even asked if we were satisfied. A pity

We were there for the second time and will definitely come back a third time. Such great hospitality and delicious food, along with a huge selection of numerous types of beer - and at very fair prices. If you're looking for something really authentic and Berlin-like at Ku'Damm, you've come to the right place!

Rustic and nice. The restaurant has character and the wood accent is very appealing. Food: I ordered crispy pork knuckle because it reminds me alot of the crispy pata back in the Philippines. It was indeed crispy but too salty for my taste. Maybe the dish is supposed to be like that because it is perfect with beer. Service: Very friendly and attentive staff. They even gave our child a straw for the apple juice for easy drinking. Atmosphere: Smoking is allowed outside so if you get bothered by second hand smoke, sit a bit inside to avoid it. I will do this next time. 😅

I recently visited Schildkröte and was thoroughly delighted by the authentic German experience. The cozy, rustic decor and friendly atmosphere made for a welcoming environment. The menu features classic German dishes that are both hearty and flavorful. I enjoyed the “Original Wiener Schnitzel vom Kalb”, which was perfectly crispy. The “Hausgemachten Suppen” was a delicious start, and the “Warmer Apfelstrudel” for dessert was the ideal sweet finish. Service was prompt and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. The selection of German beers added a nice touch, perfectly complementing the meal. Overall, Schildkröte offers a genuine taste of Germany with fantastic food and great service. Highly recommended!

The food has no flavor, the waiters are unfriendly, and for 3 pieces of bread they charged us 4 euros extra, I don't recommend it at all.

Traditional Berlin cuisine, large portions for little money. Rustic atmosphere, lots of things to admire and friendly staff.

We visited this cozy cafe-restaurant on the recommendation of one of our colleagues, and it completely met our expectations. The interior of the establishment is shrouded in an atmosphere of antiquity and vintage, which gives it a special charm. Muted music adds coziness and allows you to communicate calmly. Even though the cafe had plenty of empty seats both inside and on the terrace, the service was prompt and polite. German cuisine deserves special attention: excellent beer, flavorful sausages, perfect schnitzel, juicy steaks - every dish was prepared at the highest level. And the strudel for dessert was the perfect ending to our visit. This place is definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy authentic German cuisine and a nice atmosphere. We will definitely come back here again!

It's a very romantic place. On the wall hang the pictures of celebrities who may have since died. The food from the deep fryer is rich and the price-performance ratio is right. The service is perfectly friendly. This is the ideal place for an after-work beer in wet and cold weather! This was our second time here this year and we'll be back.

What a great Berlin restaurant. You feel completely comfortable. A super friendly service person behind the counter, laughed a lot. No rush from service, even when the store is full to capacity. It's a shame we couldn't watch football. Definitely going back next time I visit Berlin.

Have been to this wonderful restaurant probably 20 times. Every single time I get so full I see stars!!! Could be a connection with the beer and the drams... Anyway, I'm going to Berlin in May and I'm looking forward to another visit!!! Stand on Turtles!!❤️❤️

I came with two friends together, in the very beginning the servant arranged a corner table which could be "just fit" for three people. Several minutes later, one of us went to WC, and the waitress came to us to ask us to move to a smaller table because we had only two seated at the meanwhile. I said "we have three, not two", but she replied us very rude "you are two, so move there!". I protested continuously and finally the servant came, told the waitress that we have three, then she gave up to ask us to move. What a terrible service here!

Here you feel welcome and noticed as a guest. The food is not necessarily cheap but the price corresponds to the quality of the food and the service. I'm happy to give this 5 stars and give it a clear recommendation.

Great restaurant. Since we didn't have a reservation, a table for four was quickly converted into two tables for two. Our wish that my wife and I would like to share a grilled knuckle was easily met with two additional plates. And the portion was so big that I could hardly have finished it alone. The ambience is also very nice. We had a lovely evening and can only recommend the restaurant.

A lot of effort goes into this! It was our first time there and we immediately felt welcome. Although there was a lot going on, the waiters were very relaxed and attentive. The prices are really fair for a restaurant near Ku'Damm. The quality is simply unbeatable. Plus the selection of beers, with something for every beer-loving guest. Conclusion: Everything is right and we will be back! Price/performance, quality of the food, ambience, selection of draft beers!

I’m pregnant , I asked for the toilet and they said no. It’s a shame to refuse the access for women. Awful behaviour.

We visited as a tourist over the Easter weekend. They were very busy but found us a lovely table by the window. We had two massive pork knuckle meals with beer. So big we couldn't finish it. Would certainly recommend. Having read the reviews here about tipping and we almost didn't go in. I don't understand why people here are complaining, it was very simple...at the end meal when you are given the payment terminal it asks if you wished to tip and gave various options 8%, 10%, 12%.... I don't understand why people are complaining! It's very simple to understand and they deserved a tip. The food was well worth it.

After eating the Jahn-Otto plate, I temporarily became Jahn Otto Johansen and spent the rest of the evening writing letters of correspondence. Otherwise very pleasant service.

A restaurant with a long tradition in a prime location. Food was ok, although not outstanding considering the high price level. And we also belong to the group of tip victims. We were "motivated" several times to order more, preferably something really expensive and to pay a hearty tip at the end. I took it sportily and countered back at some point when it became too much for me. Then there was peace. In the end there was actually a tip, but just the amount that I thought was right. The visit was in summer 2023.

Well, the food was okay, but there was a waitress who loudly commented on why I wasn't ordering another beer... Otherwise, a nice atmosphere with lots of pictures of celebrities on the wall who were also guests there.

I really liked it, the rump steak was really good quality! Friendly staff, rustic atmosphere. Make a reservation if possible, as during my visit all the tables were actually occupied at times. Also very positive: there is König Pilsener on tap! Delicious. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Turtle. It was my third visit to this restaurant and every time it was a successful evening!

Cute pub with very clean toilets. But unfortunately the food was below average: convenience with dumplings. Doesn't work at all! However, if you want to drink a beer in the evening in a nice atmosphere, you're in good hands here. Only he should have eaten beforehand.

Terrible experience, unpleasant, rude and arrogant waiter. Arriving after two minutes for the order, when asked to wait 1 minute he left annoyed and grumbling. Continuing to avoid us and invent work for 10-15 minutes, after which, when asked to recommend a beer, he gave us Berliner (commercial beer) as an answer, always indicating it to us on the coaster in an annoyed manner. When the dishes were delivered he got nervous asking us to take them and help him because we were distracted. Pork knuckle not cleaned well (still had more than a few hairs attached). At the time of payment he seemed to demand a tip, the moment we selected the option not to give it to him he started mumbling again and greeted us angrily. Absolutely avoid this place. RECEPTION 0!

One of the worst experiences of my life, I was treated worse than a dog... out of the ordinary rudeness and discourtesy. The two gentlemen, I imagine the owners...were annoyed by our presence, it seemed like they were doing us a favor by serving us...madness! Cutlery, dishes and drinks that were almost thrown onto the table, with total disdain and contempt. At the moment of payment, refusing to leave even a single cent of tip (given the terrible service given to me!), the owner greeted us, muttering and probably insulting us in German. It could have served the best food in the world (which it absolutely didn't), but that's no way to treat customers. Absolutely avoid… how bitter…

Today we ate at the Turtle again after almost 2 years. It was great. Nice operation, great service. Food top. We'll definitely come back

Good middle-class old Berlin pub with very good food. Finally a perfect grilled knuckle again, with a crispy rind.

Apart from the landlady, who was enthusiastic about her displeasure, the visit to the cultural restaurant was a complete failure. The food was warmed up, the sauce was more solid than liquid and the red cabbage was completely overcooked in the same liquid form.

Der Service und das Essen sind einfach BERLIN. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Die Portion war riesig, es war wirklich lecker und wenn man etwas deftiges zum Bier haben möchte, dann wird man auf jeden Fall nicht enttäuscht. Das Essen in der Schildkröte hat Spaß gemacht und die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich.

Ich liebe es hier! Angenehme Atmosphäre und traditionell Berliner Essen.

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht von der Küche des Rest. Schildkröte. Dieses Restaurant hat sehr gute Bewertungen bei Google, die wir leider nicht nachvollziehen konnten. Das Essen war dermaßen schlecht zubereitet, daß sogar die Gewürzgurken komplett geschmacklos waren. Die Currywurst hatte eine ungenießbare Haut, das selbstgemachte Berliner Schmalz war fad und krümelig, die Buletten schmeckten mehr nach Brot als nach Fleisch, die Schweinskopfsülze bestand nur aus Fett und Schwarte... es war wirklich ALLES ungenießbar. Der einzige Lichtblick war der nette und aufmerksame Kellner, der 5* verdient.

Es lebe die Berliner Kneipenkultur- hier aber als Kneipenflair- Restaurant mit Altberliner Spezialitäten. Besonders erwähnenswert ist die Mittagskarte- jedes Gericht für 9,90€sind fair und lecker.
