Schaumberg Alm in Tholey

Food was terrible, schnitzel full of fat and cold, you couldn't see that it was fried, it looked like it came from the microwave and the fries were over salted, there is a better schnitzel at every chip shop, even motorway rest stops do it better. Not recommended. Too bad. I won't eat anything there anymore.

Very nice Alm... Great location and the staff is very friendly. Food was tasty and okay. It's very cozy and there are great pictures hanging on the wall... It was fun... I'd be happy to do it again at any time.

I've already visited a few alpine huts, but what's happening at the Schaumberg Tower is absolutely top level. Everything is super delicious, I'll be back! Kind regards to the service and the kitchen 👌

The Alm and the Christmas market 🌟🌲✨⭐ were really very nice 🌟I ate a cheese board that wasn't that good🤔no special cheese and also very little. The salad as decoration was like straw (without a bit of dressing) and no mustard honey dressing plus (or something similar) for almost 13€ very expensive 🤷‍♀️

Not recommended at all!! Unfortunately not a good visit for the second time... After the first mistake we thought it could happen... and then we were back. Unfortunately, another total mistake... Waited ages until you were allowed to occupy a table in an empty room... The portions have become significantly smaller for the price explosion and the taste has become poorer...the prices are crazy for what is served. Unfortunately, criticism is not handled well here... In the future, the service should no longer ask at the table whether everything is okay. After we told the waitress in a really careful and friendly manner that the food was really not good or edible, we were left sitting there with the statement that they would continue to serve it... And that's exactly how it stayed, no more communication with us . Until we were allowed to pay (full price, of course) and were briefly left sitting back with a “bye”. Something can always go wrong when the food is served... as a rule no one takes offense. But given the way we deal with visitors/customers, that was definitely our last visit.

I really liked the Schaumberg Alm next to the Schaumberg Tower in Tholey. I've known her for a long time and have been there several times. This is a popular excursion destination of mine, especially in summer, and can be easily reached from Merzig in about three quarters of an hour. The food was always excellent and I enjoyed it, with reasonably large portions. I also had no complaints from the service staff. I'm sure I'll be there again soon, apart from today. 😉

Was there at lunchtime with several work colleagues. Several dishes were ordered and served at the same time in a reasonable amount of time. 👍 The taste of the food was good to very good.😋 Prices and performance were right! A note: A small refill of sauce was charged €3.00 extra. Maybe it should be part of the service. 🤔

Leider konnten die gewünschten Speisen nicht serviert werden. Alternativen waren gut.

Uriges Ambiente in einem Holzhaus. Einfache und nicht zu große Speisekarte mit lokalen Gerichten. Meistens sehr schnelle Bedienung. Und sollte es mal länger dauern findet sich immer eine Lösung im Interesse der Kunden. Hunde erlaubt. Absolut gemütlich und sehr empfehlenswert.

Das Lokal war zu Beginn sehr gut besucht. Bedient wuden wir anfangs dennoch zügig. Auf das Essen haben wir eine Stunde gewartet, was ich als unüblich, aber nicht dramatisch empfand. Die Qualität der Speisen war rundum zufriedenstellend. Die Aufmerksamkeit des Services ließ immer weiter zu wünschen übrig. Statt sich um Gäste zu kümmern, wurde zu dritt gequatscht, oder am Handy gespielt. Es ist sehr deutlich dass kein geschultes Personal vorhanden ist,und auch niemand der Verantwortung trägt. Die Gastgeber Rolle zu übernehmen geht anders.

So we were there on the occasion of our 24th wedding anniversary. We had reserved there. The welcome was friendly and the atmosphere was Alpine hut-specific. The weather that day left a lot to be desired (foggy, cold and wet), but the hut was warm due to the crowd. The service was friendly and attentive. Our choice of food was okay. Starter soup (Saarland beef soup and grumbbeer soup), both delicious. The main course was a bit rushed. All in all it was okay. Would come again in better weather.

We were there yesterday for our friend Christian's birthday party and felt very comfortable. We were absolutely thrilled by the location and the rustic ambience of the alpine pasture; the waitresses were attentive and quick. And then the food: Large portions and super tasty. Our special recommendation is the “largest gefillte in the world”. We would love to come back and look forward to more experiences with the extensive selection of dishes. Elke & Werner

We came after swimming in the Schaumbergbad. We were able to order quickly and received our food relatively quickly. The prices for the children's menus are super fair. Nice enough portion and super tasty. The salad was particularly good

Kann nichts Schreiben, denn wir wurden nicht bedient. Obwohl ich Kleinkind und Kind mit Durst dabei hatte und ich unbedingt ein Zuckerhaltiges Getränk brauchte.

Sehr nette Bedienung. Hatten den besten Gefüllten den wir je außerhalb gegessen haben. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Beautiful alpine pasture with lots of places inside and outside, with a large and varied selection of food. There are also many vegetarian dishes on the menu. Lunch also changes weekly. Since the portions are large, the dishes are inexpensive.

Also ich kann die Meinung der vorher gegangen Bewertungen nicht zustimmen. Wir waren mit 2 Familien hier. Personal war freundlich und aufmerksam. Bestellungen wurden schnell aufgenommen und auch zügig abgearbeitet. Essen war absolut in Ordnung und Ausreichend. Also uns wird die Alm nicht zum letzten Mal gesehen haben.

It was really great in itself, what I found really hard was that towards the evening of the Oktoberfest we didn't get any service for drinks. When two out of four people went to see where we could pay, a waitress suddenly came and accused the people waiting of the bill I think it was very hard to bounce and the operation was very weak because she couldn't keep up with her job

Also erstmal ist das Essen ja lecker. Ein paar Leute aus dem Personal sind jedoch unfreundlich. Lage natürlich super, allerdings hat es schon des Öfteren nicht mit der Reservierung funktioniert.

Service war freundlich, prompt und hat immer nachgefragt, ob alles in Ordnung war. Das Essen war gut und ausreichend. Leider war der Espresso am Schluss nur lauwarm und ein kleines Gebäckteil hätte den Espresso und den Kaffee bei meinen Freundinnen abgerundet - leider gab es "nur" das bloße Getränk.

The food tasted very good. The portions are generous. It should be a nice evening. It takes a long time for someone to bring the cards and take drinks. This person was not responsible for ordering the food and it took a long time for us to be able to order food. It took just as long until we had the food we ordered on the table. Even when asked, nothing happened and the people spoken to were always not responsible for the table. Further drinks could not be ordered or were not asked for. We were simply forgotten. Not good service in a nice setting. The evening will not be remembered fondly.

War über lange Zeit immer zufrieden und bin sehr gerne zum Essen hin. Die Preise wurden mittlerweile erhöht und die Mengen sind weniger geworden. Beispiel: Beim Schnitzel zahlt man die Soße mit 3,50 Euro extra. Es war ca. 1 Esslöffel Pfeffersoße auf dem Schnitzel. Auf Nachfrage hieß es, dass weitere Soße wieder extra bezahlt werden müsse. Hallo? Mehr muss man hier nicht sagen. :-(

Alles war bestens Essen Service rund um zufrieden

We had to wait a relatively long time for a server to order the drinks, there were only 3-4 tables occupied, which shouldn't be a problem with 3 servers, but the ladies preferred to have private conversations. The schnitzel with a herb cheese crust and fries wasn't outstanding You didn't taste much of the herbs and the cheese was almost cold, as were the fries. The giant stuffing was good, as was the cheese fondue. Reordering drinks also took forever and the waitresses weren't paying attention.

Rustic hut with hearty food and friendly staff. Recommendation: Filled potato dumpling with sauerkraut. Free access for motorcycles and specially designated parking spaces 50 m from the hut. Viewing platform with panoramic views.

Man wurde recht schnell zu seinem Tisch gebracht, Getränke- und Essensbestellung gingen recht flott, gut war heut wenig Betrieb, aber nettes Personal, gute Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken, Preis-Leistung sehr gut, kann man nur empfehlen

The best thing is your location. Views for which you used to have to climb the tower by stairs... yes, I'm that old: the first tower is still worth it. The restaurant fits the name, well done and of course the second highest mountain in Saarland. And: Saarland cuisine (albeit with a new name "Hohrische": The original Neme was disgustingly anti-Semitic. But: Can you heal history in retrospect by negating it, pretending that it was completely different? Of course not! Especially in With regard to the resurgence of anti-Semitism: one should write on the card. The name of the long dumplings was not an invention of the National Socialists. And perhaps one should write that Tholey is one of the largest Jewish communities in the southwest The “Matzeecke” was now longer. But only those who remember history can perhaps (!) prevent its reflection in the present (Berlin, of all places).

Schade für 3 Personen kein Platz, 15.00 Uhr angeblich Reservierungen , um 15.30 Uhr die Plätze immer noch nicht besetzt , Nach dem Unhöflichen Empfang sind wir dann wieder gegangen .

We waited 1 hour for food. The noise level was very high and you could hardly have a conversation. The food was average but plentiful.

I have always enjoyed being a guest at the Schaumberg Alm, but unfortunately something has changed recently. I was particularly disappointed with my last Kaiserschmarrn, which now cost €13.50!!! takes into account. It used to be worth the price, but the portions have become noticeably smaller. For this price I honestly expect more. Due to this development, I will no longer order Kaiserschmarrn in the future. It's a shame, because it used to always be my highlight. I hope this helps!

I was on my motorbike 🏍️ in my old home and made a stopover up there. Gigantic view, I definitely have to go there again on a beautiful summer evening. I didn't try the food, so I can't comment.

It was a wonderful evening in Schaumberg Al.

Self-service (actually says it all) that takes forever, a portion of fries ordered 20 (!) minutes, drinks beforehand 15 minutes, annoying tourists, cramped. Fries were delicious.

Today was the first and last time we ordered schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and we got something like that, the schnitzel was thin like newspaper, the breading fell off, the sauce only had 2 mushrooms and it didn't taste good. Then I had fried potatoes that were greasy and not fried, so disgusting. Price/performance ratio is not recommended at all

Every hiker and walker needs a good meal and good drinks at the end of an excursion. The Schaumberg Alm delivers both in good quality at fair prices. The atmosphere is simply breathtaking and the panoramic view while eating is absolutely recommended.

I have to be honest, I've been disappointed again and again lately, both with the food and the service! With the schnitzel you get a maximum of 3 mushrooms in the sauce and the portions are getting smaller and smaller. So, on the whole, the ingredients were stingy and the price was also more attractive. The highlight was on our last visit when we were eating with several people and after the first had their food it took 50 minutes until the last had their food. I asked twice and was just put off. It's said again and again that the complaints will be passed on but absolutely nothing happens. Unfortunately it is no longer recommended and we will probably look for something new to eat.

Great location. Location unique. The food was good and served very quickly inside. In summer it is very warm inside but there are enough places outside. Inside is self-service outside. Can only be recommended.

Yesterday I ordered 2 schnitzels and two drinks. The schnitzel with fries cost 13.90 each and two spoons of pepper sauce plus 7 euros extra per schnitzel. The schnitzels were terrible! Probably ready-made frozen canteen schnitzels, the sauce is way too salty. A toilet that smells like urine will finish you off! The whole thing is degenerating! Not recommended at the moment!

Hello everyone,...so that it should be a main office event in Saarland!!! We are seriously disappointed and actually find it sad and even shameful. The interior promises a lot and then comes the disillusionment in the design of small, almost stingy portions of the food, with little sauce and a hefty surcharge for additional requests. In general, we advise against visiting to take pictures and see other objects is fine, but leaving money there only makes sense for stupid starving creatures who absolutely need to eat.

We were in the outdoor beer garden. The food was quite expensive and not that much. The fried fish was good and filling, but my sister had a beef dish that she was still hungry for. My mother had ordered white sausage, which came with nothing, not even a slice of bread, just two sausages... The wine was good, but far too expensive, only 150ml. Nice, tasty, but far too little for the prices.

Leider kann ich keine positive Rückmeldung da lassen. Wenn man an einem gewöhnlichen Wochentag bei sehr mäßigem Betrieb nach Abgabe der Bestellung eine anderthalb Stunde auf sein Essen warten muss ist das kein Grund das Restaurant weiter zu empfehlen!
