Schatz Schlemmerecke in Duisburg

Lunch used to be the highlight of my sweetheart's day! Now it's fast food from a commercial kitchen, or at least it tastes just as bad! I won't be buying anything there again! Cold, unseasoned, and the croquettes were mushy!

Used to be great, now it's mediocre at best. (Except for the pizzeria)

I've known Schatz Schlemmerecke/Hähnchen for over 50 years. I've always been satisfied.

A snack bar where the food still tastes good. A ready-made meal every day to heat up at home, and everything else a snack bar could offer. Friendly staff. Please don't let the borderline ambiance distract you; this place has been around for ages and offers top-notch quality.

What happened that a grilled chicken that used to be unbeatably good has become so miserable in such a short time, not to mention the price (extortionate!). Don't you need it anymore? They regularly came all the way from Dinslaken... and now? Not even a word about the closure 😡

Pizza. Fries. And so on. Delicious again here.

Ordered a gyro pita: bread was hard and stale. Meat was cold. 6.90€ for a rather small portion, too. Since the chicken grill isn't working anymore, those days are probably over. Close the place down, I won't be coming anymore.

Unfortunately, the counter (cash register and PIN machine) is so dirty. It doesn't make a good impression.

A cool location that has established itself and remained a success over many years. Delicious food and a rustic atmosphere. A true Ruhr region snack bar, just like you'd expect from the old days. Keep it up!

Sometimes the staff seems a little overwhelmed. And the snack bar, including the chicken sales, doesn't really give a clean impression...except for the pizzeria.

Two half chickens for €13.50. That's extortionate. And then the chickens weren't even fresh off the grill, but rather the ready-made ones that had probably been sitting there for a while, reheated. They tasted the same. Inedible, destined for the trash. A disgrace. Then you have to say that the old ones are being reheated, and then possibly offer them at a lower price. Never again, Schatz Schlemmerecke. And I used to be a regular customer there.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! There's also a weekly menu with changing dishes that aren't necessarily quick to make at home. Goulash, roulades, or stews, for example.

Food from all 3 restaurants were good and also not to exspensive. Perfect for if you are craving something easy and cheap, while tasting good

The service at the chip shop was nice, but when they take money from the previous customer and then they're still searching for it in the cash register, and the next person immediately grabs the pita roll and wants to fill it... Sorry, but I thought we'd be a bit more advanced these days when it comes to hygiene. Gloves or hand sanitizing – no sign of that.

They used to have the best chicken anywhere. It's been a long time since I bought chicken. So disappointing. No seasoning, flabby skin with a few feathers on it. Disgusting. Probably a different owner. We won't buy from there anymore.

The pizzeria is highly recommended. The snack bar is so-so. The stars 🌟 I gave it refer to the pizzeria.

Here the people are really nice and really respectful. Not only does the food taste good it’s a nice cozy little place where you can enjoy pizza, pasta and fries. Really nice place, would recommend going here!

I moved away from the area four years ago and have not yet found a place where you can get equally good (fresh) chicken

A few days ago, I was craving half a chicken. Unfortunately, the prices went up again (1/2 chicken now €7.50 instead of €6.50, and medium fries €3.50 instead of €3.10), so I left without ordering anything. I won't be returning until the prices return to a reasonable level.

It was the first time I've been to Schatz again in 5 years and I can't understand all the 1 star reviews at all. We ordered pizza once and fries and half a chicken, the fries were crunchy, the chicken with the spice was great and the pizza was surprisingly good.

It's just a stand-up fries shop

Bought three half chickens and a bag of fries there today. The quality of the food has declined significantly; some of the chickens were taken out of the bottom of the machine and were so hard and dry that you could barely chew or swallow them... The fries were hard and hollow inside, they were so bland. It's really awful how someone could ruin such a long-standing snack bar. When I asked, the employee told me he was obligated to sell the chickens, even if they were in that condition. I left €27 there that I should have just thrown in the trash. Sad.

The food is very tasty, the ambience isn't necessarily nice, but it's a bit cheaper than restaurants. The gourmet corner is divided into 3 snack bars next to each other, a pizza for pizza paster and salad, a snack bar for fries, schnitzel, citizens and so on and one for chicken meat

I have to say after my disappointments last year it has improved a lot. I'm super happy with the lunch, well organized and really tasty.

A classic chip shop in the Ruhr area. Not a culinary highlight - but we still like to be here from time to time.

What's wrong with darling? 1 star is still too much. French fries are limp, completely tasteless. Currywurst just like that, curry sauce just as tasteless and thin as water. The crowning glory, however, was the 1/2 chicken. Lukewarm, tough as rubber and as big as a chick at a price of 6.50 euros. A joke. I will never buy anything there again, I know the quality from before.

Food was ok, currywurst was always far too light, not roasted, if you don't say straight away that you want to pay with a card you get shouted at. It's clearly signposted and I read through all of the 100 signs.. there are also people who can't read. Instead of just asking politely with every order whether you want to pay with cash or card, you get shouted at..

I just returned GIROS. Assuming it's my first time here and I'm someone in a work suit who can eat anything, I got stale bread. Stale so much that it crumbles under the pressure of two fingers. Probably three days old. I haven't returned food in a long time, but this made me very angry. I hope they are not Greek because if they are this is a great shame. Now I was and never again🤮. Bought at 11:30am, break from 12:00pm. My colleague ate the same as me and he bought it before me... His bread was soft so... You don't like the story. You tried, it didn't work and that's it. You have more sheep to shear

Ordered currywurst, fries, cucumber salad and a fries with gypsy sauce. What did you get, a fries without sauce and a currywurst, no cucumber salad and no fries, wow Well, to claim that an order like that wasn't placed is a cheeky lie and it's damaging to the business because we actually come out to eat very often

Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the taste of the currywurst - I haven't been there in years. Has there been a new change of ownership? Staff very friendly. If necessary the other dishes can be topped. Next time I would like to try more. The review only refers to the currywurst!

I was surprised to find 3 snack bars. You will definitely find friendliness and warmth here.

Three different “snacks”, really good! There is pizza, a chicken grill and a snack bar with lunch! Prices normal, quality good! Tastes good!!! Nowadays the chicken isn't that good anymore, it's usually undercooked and not crispy at all!! In the afternoon the gyros grill is usually switched off, then the meat is heated up in the microwave, not so tasty!

The chickens have not only become more expensive but also smaller. At 5.80 I find this an outrage. In addition, the breast was still quite dry. No thanks for this service, that's not possible. And what can I say, the half chicken for 6.50 was really small and it had probably been down in the grill for a while. That's why it was dry. So nothing changed.

My conclusion about the chicken grill, The chicken is well seasoned and depending on how long it's cooked, it's a great meal. If you add this delicious bombai sauce to it, it's fantastic!

I've been coming for lunch every day for years. I only cook on weekends. The new packaging makes transport really easy.

A few days ago I was eating here and ordered small fries with mayo. These small fries cost a whopping €3.40. €3.40... The portion of mayo alone cost 80 cents. The ladies in the chip shop have fingernails up to the moon which is not the best in terms of hygiene. The fries themselves were delicious. They were well seasoned and crunchy. But 2.70 euros for a small fries... that's sick. A whole hanchen cost around 13.50 euros... I find the prices more than outrageous. But well, if people are stupid enough to pay for it then you can do it too. A portion of fries special almost €7! Not long ago I paid €2.50 for it, of course not in this restaurant but somewhere else! And I mean a big portion! They now cost €4 there too, which is still reasonable! Large portion of fries, large portion of mayo and curry sauce and fresh onions.. I find the prices in this restaurant very expensive for the service and the ambience! What a shame! Yesterday I went to the gourmet corner for a currywurst and a chicken to take away. I asked for chicken that was as dark as possible and well-salted fries. As always, super delicious

I've been a customer here for what feels like 40 years. My father bought chicken here. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated significantly in recent years. But I still tried to buy chicken here every now and then. I was last here on Thursday and got another chicken that was still a little raw on the inside. The skin was correspondingly limp and the seasoning was unfortunately insufficient. Why do you take the chickens out so early? It's better to leave it in for 20 minutes more and sell delicious chicken instead of losing long-standing customers. I'll leave out the photos because they aren't very appetizing. I hope that the owner takes this criticism seriously and improves it. I hardly ever write criticism, but this store is important to me, hence the criticism, with the hope of improvement. I'll try to go back over the next few days to see if anything has happened. If not then it was probably the last time. I would like to stay here even if the prices have risen.

Great for picking up food. I wouldn't necessarily eat there right now. Fast and tasty. It's cheap too.

The chicken grill makes very tasty chicken and calls for usual prices. The 1/2 is €6.50 and 1 chicken is €12.50. Service quick and friendly. Tidy and clean. The ambience and seating options in the 3 snack bars (pizzeria and chip shop not tested) are very simple and expandable.

Perfect snack for in between, lunch or dinner. There are even healthy lunches at fair prices.

After a long time I got the special fries there again. Fries half raw, curry friko sauce is a matter of taste, unfortunately just not my taste.

Unfortunately now one of the worst chip shops in Duisburg! Sausage almost always cold. The sauce is always different. The fries are often not cooked all the way through. Here you can see the pure greed for profit since the change of ownership.

Hearty home cooking. Sometimes there is a certain sophistication - for example mint peas, you notice how mint can refine the taste of peas. Thumbs up :-)

evening together, When I went there just 2 minutes before the company's closing time and wanted to order 2 large fries where I go twice a week and order 2 half chickens with fries, it suddenly said... I only had one portion of fries in the frying pan, where I looked at the facility on the right and there was a bag half full of fries and I asked if they could make fresh ones and they said no. Which was already half thawed. Which will now probably be frozen again and prepared again tomorrow... Sad And the lady with the blonde hair and glasses just confirmed that we were about to get off work... a fry takes 2-4 minutes. I'm a regular customer 50-100 euros never again.. And now, as an employer, think about it... Your employees... Sad

The bratwurst wasn't good and tasted weird. It'll probably give you an upset stomach. I have had a stomach ache for 7 hours. There were gnawed chicken remains on the floor next to the tables and the trash can was full. No, thanks - you don't have to spend any money!

Craziness. Half a chicken cost 4.60 euros a year ago. After what felt like monthly price increases, the price has now reached a record-breaking 6.50. That means over 40% (!!!) price increase in one year. Classic, albeit extreme, case of greed inflation. If I hadn't been picking up something for multiple people, I would have turned around immediately. And that's where we've been going to treasure for decades. But sometime is good.

It's been a long time since I got fries and schnitzel from the snack bar. Unfortunately, the quality has drastically decreased. The service was very friendly, but unfortunately the food was very poorly prepared. The schnitzel was baked dead, the sauce is also different than before, and the schnitzel was also swapped. And that for 20€. Unfortunately my last visit there for now....

They have the best fries I know here. Some friends I was there with confirmed to me that they were some of the best fries they had eaten. Large selection of dishes, pizzaria, chicken stall and kiosk right next door. The ambience is simple, in the classic Ruhrpott style. Price acceptable.

Iconic grill, friendly service, daily changing lunch menu at reasonable prices. When I'm in the corner, I like to stop for a "Mantaplatte" ☺️

It tastes good, no question about it...but for a currywurst with a large special fries €10.70...that's steep...and then the portion of fries is as big as the small portion. Some people should do it again Price needs to be reconsidered...Addendum: There should be tartar sauce on the fries, which was discussed extensively, including with my colleague, but it didn't work...there was mayo on it...it's a shame...it used to be my regular snack bar...well

Fries drowned in mayo and were not great. Currywurst is a disaster. Sausage fried to death, dry and hard fried skin, no taste. Sauce tastes like warmed ketchup from the familiar tall bottle. Anyone who doesn't know the difference between quantity and quality (which is common here in Duisburg) is in good hands here.

Einfach nur noch grottenschlecht geworden heute auf dem Sonntag einmal jägerwurst Pommes geholt und Currywurst Pommes beide mit Mayo Bratwurst total verbrannt Pommes nicht richtig durch dann dieser unverschämte Preis von 13,10 € so kann man sich seine Stammkunden auch vergraulen immer andere Mitarbeiter die von ihren Handwerk nichts verstehen die besten werden gekickt und die schlechten werden eingestellt also bei euch nie wieder dann lieber McDonald's

Super lecker, preislich top, immer wieder gern

Ich gehe seit Jahrzehnten dort hin und die Qualität ist gleichbleibend gut, auch nach mehrfachen Besitzerwechsel. Meist holen wir dort unsere geliebten Grillhähnchen, hin und wieder aber auch die leckeren Imbissgerichte. Currywurst, Pommes, Majo, auch Ruhrpott, - Taxi, oder Manta Teller / Platte genannt. Auch die Schnitzel Variationen sind sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Pizza & Nudeln kann man auf dem selben Gelände, allerdings bei einem anderen Betreiber "Arturo" kaufen, der auch schon seit längerem dort sehr leckere Gerichte anbietet. Man kann vor Ort sein Essen genießen, oder es sich selbstverständlich auch mit nach Hause nehmen. Arturo bietet im Gegensatz zu Schatz, auch noch einen Lieferservice an.
