Wir waren zum Abendessen. Vorzüglich Bedienung, tolles Essen und eine schöne Gaststätte. Die kulinarische Qualität überzeugt mich absolut. Die Preise sind mehr als angemessen.

Einheimische Freunde führten uns in dieses Restaurant. Reine Begeisterung! In einer derart gemütlichen Atmosphäre habe ich noch nie einen Abend verbracht! Es war wie einem Wohnzimmer aus alter schöner Zeit. Herzliche Begrüßung durch den Inhaber, tolle Speisenauswahl auf großer Schiefertafel, erläutert durch den Wirt. Alle Gerichte waren von bester Qualität, das Preisverhältnis völlig angemessen, keinesfalls überteuert. Jederzeit wieder mit großem Vergnügen!

Op aanbeveling van Michelin hier gegeten. Het heeft onze verwachtingen overtroffen. Allereerst qua eten maar ook qua setting (wij konden in de tuin eten) en bediening. Het eten was zeer goed van smaak en zeker bijzonder lekker. Alles paste perfect bij elkaar. Ook was er een mooie wijnkaart. Ik zou iedereen dit restaurant aanbevelen die Leipzig aandoet. Prijs kwaliteit is meer dan redelijk.

People wish there were more Schaarschmidts in this world. The kitchen and service know their craft. The selection of local dishes and the “beautiful” selection of wines delight visitors to Leipzig. The “parlor” is well-kept and cozy and creates the setting for a relaxed and restful evening. It's no wonder that there are so many regular guests here.

The food served was without a doubt excellent. The offer for vegetarian guests was somewhat disappointing. Unfortunately nothing could be offered apart from asparagus with hollandaise. We had to wait quite a long time to receive the drink order and the table with the food. The staff didn't respond to this in any way. Overall we had a nice evening. However, the overall experience doesn't quite match the price level

Spent 2 lovely hours as a couple. The duck was excellent. As a dessert we recommend the Gohliser Guller. The portions are normal size, which is why we “seniors” didn’t have a starter. We really liked the facility. There is a lot to discover. A thank you to the kitchen and the staff for the nice hospitality and the conversations in between.

My wife and I had dinner at Schaarschmidts on March 15, 2024. The food and service are absolutely impeccable. In our opinion, the price/performance ratio is on the higher side compared to comparable restaurants. The living room feel-good atmosphere described in many reviews was not possible for us. I would rather see the restaurant interior as a daring mix of bookshelves, stuffed ravens, Pierrot masks, high, somewhat outdated chairs (somewhat reminiscent of a knight's banquet) and tables that were too narrow and where I could hardly move my legs (I'm 180cm tall). describe. That diminished our enjoyment somewhat.

On the occasion of a private anniversary, my wife and I wanted to crown the evening with a visit to Schaarschmidts, which unfortunately we only managed to a limited extent. First of all, the positive aspects: the food is of excellent quality, the staff is neat, friendly and communicative, the ambience has that bourgeois comfort where you feel like you are in good hands. Unfortunately, this comfort is somewhat diminished when it feels like 90% of guests have to take photos of their food instead of consciously enjoying it. Of course the operator can't do anything about that, it's just the spirit of the times... We entered the restaurant for the first time and expectantly. We were assigned a table in the passage next to the counter at the foot of the stairs, with a panoramic view of the kitchen and all kinds of transit through staff and guests. It had the location and format of one Side table, popularly called the cat table. If you as a restaurant have the expectation of exclusivity, it is out of the question to expect guests to do something like that. After a quick consultation to make sure this place was serious, we decided to leave the place. Suddenly it was possible to get an acceptable table. The quality of the food is very good, without question, the arrangement on the plates can be described as quite clear, which means that the food can be photographed much better and can be shown completely on small displays... I admit that my wife and... I'm already a bit more knowledgeable about gastronomy and don't base exclusivity solely on the price label, but actually evaluate a price-performance ratio. There is still a lot of room for improvement here, which should be seen as a clear mandate. I then had numerous conversations with acquaintances and business friends who had known the restaurant for a long time to find out whether my experience was an exception. Unfortunately, to my surprise, not. Conclusion: This is the right address for people who like to photograph their food and post it on social media to promote their image. People who like to eat well but don't want to leave the restaurant with a growling stomach should perhaps look for their culinary happiness elsewhere. Of course, I sincerely wish the operators continued success. The concept obviously works wonderfully.

Thanks! Quality and friendliness is particularly good!!!! Despite the "penguins" they were very relaxed and always attentive, but unfortunately the staff came across as very stressed to me. But they handled the situation well as a team!!!! Parking is very difficult. Thanks to the entire team!

Das Schaarschmidts ist im Stil eines riesen Wohnzimmers in einem alten Herrenhaus gehalten. Was erstmal nicht so einladend klingt, ist eine herrliche, gemütliche und sehr passende Atmosphäre für das Restaurant. Der Service war sehr herzlich und hatte den Kunden im Fokus. Es war natürlich auch Zeit für eine kurze Erklärung zum Sperk :). Was mir positiv auffiel, war der freundliche Umgang untereinander, was in der Gastronomie alles andere als selbstverständlich ist. Die Karte ist bewusst klein und regional gehalten. Ich habe mich, nach Empfehlung, für ein "Göschen" entschieden und war absolut zufrieden.

The Schaarschmidts is designed in the style of a huge living room in an old manor house. What doesn't sound so inviting at first is a wonderful, cozy and very fitting atmosphere for the restaurant. The service was very warm and focused on the customer. Of course it was also time for a short explanation about Sperk :). What struck me positively was the friendly interaction with each other, which is anything but a given in the catering industry. The map is deliberately kept small and regional. Following a recommendation, I decided on a “Göschen” and was absolutely satisfied. I will gladly come again!

At Scharschmidt, no wishes are left unfulfilled. From the cozy, elegant atmosphere to the excellent food and the great service, everything is just right here. A top-class culinary experience!

Unfortunately our expectations were not met. We waited about 20 minutes until a waiter came to our table. Then waited over an hour for the food. There was only a small selection of food. The card that can be found online is not offered. There are no salads on offer and as a vegetarian you have to put together your own dish from the side dishes of the meat dishes. I expect a different service for this price range. The portions are very manageable, unfortunately no one was really full. The only good thing: the food was delicious. Price-performance simply doesn't match in this restaurant. You're willing to pay more, but then the overall package should fit - it's a shame

Neben dem Piccolo Steakhaus in Leipzig für uns das beste Restaurant in unserer Stadt, was wir bis jetzt kennen. Da wir hier 5 Sterne vergeben, muss ich nicht groß drauf eingehen. :-) Es ist nicht gerade günstig oder für Menschen gedacht, die richtig satt werden wollen mit einen Hauptgericht allein, aber es bleibt einfach etwas besonderes in Sachen Ambiente, Service und Qualität des Essen. Dafür was geboten wird, geht der Preis voll in Ordnung und wirkt nicht abgehoben wie irgendwelche Sternerestaurants die vom Namen leben. Wir sind die Tage schon auf das 6 Gänge Menü zu Silvester gespannt.

Toll, hier wird der Kellnerberuf noch gelebt, und noch echt gekockt.

Ich war das erste mal in diesem Restaurant zu meiner Geburtagsfeier und wurde sehr positiv überrascht von dem Flair und der hervorragenden Bedienung. Die Speisekarte ist auf einer Tafel sehr schön dargestellt und wird auch zusätzlich bei Fragen persönlich erklärt, ein doller Service. Das Zandergericht war in jeder Hinsicht hervorragend, wie auch das Lammgericht. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich, man fühlt sich sehr wohl, kann ich sehr empfehlen, ich werde es auch wieder gern besuchen. Vielen Dank an das Team.

Exelenter Service und exelentes Essen

Ich persönlich bin wirklich sehr froh, dass es noch solche Perlen an Gastronomie in der heutigen Zeit gibt. Natürlich ist das Restaurant etwas überladen an Deko und Krimskrams, aber genau das macht es eben auch so sympathisch und liebevoll. Der Service war auffallend gut geschult und aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte abwechslungsreich und man merkt die Liebe des Küchenchefs zu seinem Beruf. Hier werden Gerichte angeboten, die man nicht in jedem zweiten Lokal findet. Und genau das gefällt mir sehr. Wir waren nun das Zweite Mal da und waren an beiden Abenden hoch zufrieden. Auch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist in meinen Augen absolut gerechtfertigt. Ich wünsche mir, dass dieses Restaurant Leipzig noch lange erhalten bleibt und freue mich auf einen weiteren Besuch. Bitte weiter so!!!👍

Sehr leckeres Menü... Geschultes, witziges, lockeres und Service-orientiertes Personal in gemütlicher Atmosphäre...

Von einem Michelin geführten Restaurant habe ich mehr erwartet, meine Roulade war gut aber nicht aussergewöhnlich. Meiner Freundin ihr Steak war leider zäh und der Fisch war etwas trocken. Die Zeiten zwischen den Mahlzeiten recht lang. Personal war aber sehr freundlich. Die Auswahl der Karte war einfach antäuschend und Interessantes gab es dann nur für zwei Personen, sehr schade. Preis und Leistung für mich nicht im Gleichgewicht.

Wir haben einen 81 Geburtstag gefeiert. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden ausgezeichnet bedient. Es wurde auf unserer Wünsche eingegangen. Auch Veganer fanden etwas. Die Speisen haben Stern 🌟 Qualität. Das Servicepersonal war sehr aufmerksam und super höflich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. Eine Reservierung ist erforderlich, somit bekommt man den entsprechend großen Tisch. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und geschmackvoll. Am schönsten fanden wir (von der Einrichtung) die Lampenschirme auf den Musik 🎶 Instrumenten. Die Lampenschirmfirma ist super.

Das war ein toller Abend. Der Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen Besonders und das Ambiente so, dass man noch hätte ewig bleiben wollen. Es gab einfach soviel zu sehen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Restaurant mit einer wundervollen Atmosphäre. Herzlicher Empfang durch den Chef und auch Stefan der uns bediente liess sich trotz grossem Andrang an diesem Abend nicht aus der Ruhe bringen. Für uns wurde sogar ein Dessert serviert welches wir uns wünschten und das nicht auf der Karte war an diesem Tag. Wir waren jetzt das dritte mal hier und werden immer wieder kommen wenn wir in Leipzig sind.

Nette Begrüßung, sehr gute Begleitung durch den kulinarischen Abend. Vorspeise gut interpretiert, Hauptgang klassisch (Roulade) und sehr schmackhaft, Nachtisch schöne Komposition. Auch Extrawürste wurden sofort erfüllt.

Having selected this restaurant for my husband's milestone birthday we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome. This restaurant has a very cosy ambiance rather like being in the library of a grand old house and has lots of quirky features like the upturned clarinet which was used as a lamp base. The menu is short and an English translation and explanation of the each dish was given to us. We enjoyed stuffed boneless quail, the local speciality beef olive and Iberian pork all of which were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The portions are also very generous. We shared a dessert of the house surprise which was a light sponge filled with ice cream and surrounded by fresh berries which was the perfect end to the meal. There is an extensive winelist as well.

Simply the best meal we've ever had in Germany;. Everything was perfection, from our wonderful server to the wine list and each individual course. The goose, quail and lamb were especially noteworthy as was the Gohliser Guller. We look forward to eating here again in the next few months, or whenever we're in Leipzig.

Great meal and great service! A cozy setting with old world charm. We had a party of 5, each having something different from the menu, and everything was great. The menu is written on a large chalk board and the waiter will explain it in English if you don't understand German. Is it worth the cost? Yes! Even during the World Cup, the waiter took the extra step and kept us up to date on the score of the game that night. While the overall seating may appear cramped, it is very cozy once you get settled and enjoy the experience.

Wir mit eine Gruppe von 9 Personen dort. Der Kellner verbreitete sofort eine herzliche und gelöste Stimmung. Es geht sehr professionell und trotzdem äußerst freundlich und gut gelaunt zu. Die Küche ist außergewöhnlich: Hase, Fasan und (mein Favorit) die Oberbürgermeister-Ente (entbeint, gerollt und gefüllt), die für 2 Personen angeboten wird, aber wir hatten sie zu dritt. Die Vorspeise “Gössel“, eine mit Gänsefleisch gefüllte Wachtel war hervorragend. Ein sächsischer Wein passte sehr gut. Auch alle anderen am Tisch waren sehr zufrieden. Alles in allem lohnt sich der etwas weitere Weg.

Der unaufdringliche und aufmerksame Service, die Qualität der Speisen und das Ambiente stimmen. Tipp: die Geflügelgerichte.

We decided to go to this restaurant after reading that it won a Michelin star. It is about 15 min from Leipzig Main Station (by Tram #12) The menu is hand written on a large chalkboard and is in German. Thankfully our server was very helpful and gave a detailed translation of the menu, including sharing with us the history of a particular dish that was not on the menu The ambience of the restaurant is very quaint - just like eating in a friend’s house The food was delicious!

Die Seezunge von angeblich 450 Gramm (für 50 € ) hatte vielleicht gerade Mal 300 Gramm und die Beilagen (Gemüse) waren fad, halbroh und geschmacklos . Das Lammfilet war zäh und schmeckte unangenehm stark nach "Wolle". Aber was überhaupt nicht akzeptabel ist in einem Restaurant dieser Klasse ist, dass ein Rotwein von über 100,-€ bei einer Temperatur von 30° serviert wird mit der Ausrede, dass kein Weinkühlschrank vorhanden ist. Ohne Worte, denn die Wasserflaschen waren ja gekühlt.... Auch ein nachträglicher Versuch (auf Bitte von unserer Seite aus) den Wein abzukühlen, hatte keinen Erfolg. Resümee: nicht besser als ein Kantinenessen. Woher die guten vorherigen Rezensionen kommen ist mir vollkommen schleierhaft. War vielleicht heute der Koch krank und ein Laie in der Küche? Ich werde jedenfalls nicht nochmal 275,- Euro für 2 Personen dort ausgeben.

Wir waren mit Freunden zum Essen im Schaarschmidts und total begeistert vom Ambiente. Man sitzt in der Bibliothek, klein und sehr gemütlich. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und der Service war den ganzen Abend super. DIe Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte waren ausgezeichnet. Auf der Karte stehen Gerichte die es nicht im jedem Restaurant gibt, wir hatten zB Stubenküken. Es war ein sehr gelungener Abend und die kurze Fahrt von der Leipziger Innenstadt zum Restaurant hat sich mehr als gelohnt.

Here you think maybe, its an old fashioned place => WRONG ! this is really high level sophisticated food in Leipzig. Funky too, because the chef dares to fuse things from all over the world whilst not going crazy. all made from seasonal super fresh ingredients and served by waiters with knowledge and great sense of humor. the wine list is also exceptional, for medium and high priced wines a great choice. we can really recommend !

This is a fantastic restaurant. Two friends and I dined here last Saturday week. It was brilliant. It had been recommended to me by a man from Regensburg. He said it was super and that I should book it. He was absolutely right. It is in a quiet suburb but well worth the short taxi ride. A lovely cosy family run restaurant whose owner takes absolute pride in the food they serve. With good reason. It is delicious. Whilst I was considering the Saxon potato soup the owner suggested I try the specialty starter - Der Sperk. It is a small game bird perfect for sharing which we did. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We followed this with a sublime chateaubriand. Cooked to perfection (medium) this was a magnificent dish. The patron recommended a fantastic Pinot Noir from Meissen near Dresden, easily the best German wine I’ve ever had. Creme brûlée for dessert was also superb. The coffee to finish was also exceptional. The owner and his staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome and kindly gave us two super schnapps to finish. A wonderful and memorable meal A must in Leipzig and to be honest the best food I’ve had in Germany since 1991 when my late father took me to a two star Michelin restaurant in Köln.

This restaurant has a very good reputation locally so I decided to give it a try while spending Christmas in Leipzig with family. Its quirky interior does not in any way detract from the wonderful food served. The meat was succulent and tender and served with an array of different vegetables which were interesting, delicious and thoroughly complimented the meat. I shall definitely be back on my next visit and look forward to sampling more dishes!

The athmosphere is great I felt like I was sitting in an old fashioned living room everything felt comfortable! The service was excellent the staff was very kind and professional. We tasted some traditional Saxony food, meat quality was excellent and also the vegetables!! They have a great variety of dishes to choose from! I could recommend it definitely. It is not cheap, we paid exactly 100€ inclusive tip for 2 starters, 2 main courses, one aperol spritz and 1 big bottle of stil water. But it was causy and romantic :)

We paid almost 150 euros for a dinner for two with wine. But it was very tasteful, the waiter was great and we had a nice candlelight dinner.

We had a wonderful romantic dinner at Schaarschmidt's last night. The appetizers were very creative and showed off the blend of traditional Saxon and Continental cuisine this restaurant manages to blend very well. For appetizers, we had the snails without their shells. ( a very civilized way to eat them) and the chicken liver carpaccio (which was rare chicken livers with candied walnuts). Both were excellent. Our entree was Entrecôte which came with a plethora of vegetables including mushrooms in a delicious potato birds nest. The meat was cooked exactly the way we wished and served with attention and style. We didn't have room for dessert, but there were several enticing options, including Crepes Suzette served flambé at table. The restaurant gives the feeling of an old family castle filled with generations of memorabilia.

I went to the restaurant because of the tripadvisor rating and because it seemed like the best offer in the vicinity of my hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. I found the food to be better than the other reviewers have expressed. And the service was excellent. The atmosphere is more of an upclass bar than fine dining, but it made for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was way above what I expected in such surroundings. The main course, pidgeon stuffed with quail on a bed of black lentils, was a real treat. Seemed like a refined version of the local Saxon cuisine. The waiter catered to my wish of a white wine (which thankfully was not met with disdain). He found a perfect riesling that had enough "sting" to match the the pidgeon which had an unexpectedly "game"-like taste. The chanterelle soup I had as a starter was good, but not anything special. The dessert was anything but bland. Sherbet of lemon vodka with frozen berries and a sprinkle of champagne. A dessert one can enjoy even after a large portion of pidgeon. If someone finds my menu a bit on the "far side": I am neither a wine buff or a food snob. I enjoy fine dining when I find the time for it. I had run 10 kilometers along the river just prior to the visit, so I really appreciated the efficient service :-) Ps! I did shower and change. The atmosphere is not that relaxed.

You wouldn't say it on the outside, but once you walk in you are swept away to ancient times. The feel of the place is absolutely the atmosphere of a large castle library. The endless books, all the frames on the walls, the large upholstered chairs. Simply wonderful! Not unimportant is that the service was lovely and the food absolutely delicious. What a lucky girl I am to be taken to this great place!!
