I always enjoy coming back - good Eritrean cuisine, friendly service and a suitable ambience. Anyone who likes Eritrean food is in good hands here.

From the warm and competent service to the fantastic food, it's simply wonderful. Would give 10 stars if I could.

Best East African cuisine in Frankfurt. Every single dish on the meat and vegetarian platters is always deliciously prepared and with a taste explosion that the other providers in Frankfurt can hardly keep up with. Small, family shop. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Gladly again and again!

Under no circumstances should you choose the vegetarian plate. You pay a lot of money for a few blobs that taste very uninteresting, and you don't get full either.

Today I ate at Savanna again after a very long time or used the delivery service. It was incredibly good. I am very grateful for the consistent quality of the food; even after all these years. My family loved it too. The mixed platter with vegetables and meat is particularly recommended. Everything is exactly right. From the consistency to the taste. I love it. Excellent breakfast – a real treat! The breakfast was simply fantastic and exceeded all expectations. The quality of the ingredients was first class - everything was fresh and tasted excellent. Overall, it was a breakfast that pleased both the palate and the eye - definitely a highlight of the day!

This used to be a favorite place of mine. Bow seems to be under new management maybe.. but they don’t have English menu and you can’t pay by card. Really inconvenient

I'm just disappointed and horrified. We had reserved for 4 people. Unfortunately, one of these people arrived 30 minutes late. We weren't allowed to order anything to drink beforehand. When the 4th person was present, we ordered food and it took 50 minutes!!!!! It took a long time for us to get the food. For what I thought was a high price, the portion was really a joke. The food was delicious, I can't say anything about it! The service, however, was terrible! Apart from the waiting time, the service was actually non-existent and, when it was, very unfriendly. I will never go there again! No recommendation from me!

The taste of the food is quite good, but the portions are super small - unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right here at all. The service was very unfriendly, you didn't feel welcome. One had the impression that everything was annoying - even giving out change when paying at the end was too much to ask. We won't be coming back again.

A cute little restaurant with delicious food. You eat at tables and not sitting on the floor, which was really great for me with knee problems. We were even able to have a large record put together.

Went there for the first time last night and can absolutely recommend the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is cozy. The food was delicious and authentic. The price was reasonable: with 1x starter, 2x main course, 2x dessert and 4x drinks we came to €75. We also had a great conversation with the owner, who really shows her passion for the restaurant. Gladly again!

Savanna is a place which gives you enough space to have good discussions with your partners and friends . The food is amazing. Download Google lens to translate the German menu to English and order the platter as in the picture . The owner supports as much as she can . Eritrean food for an Indian is like Neer dosa and multiple curries .. You can order extra dosa type food and also do try lamb curry which you can order separately .. can be 1/2 portions too … You have so many vegetarian and vegan options The interiors are well done showcasing culture . Toilet door lock is unique 🙃 Overall a good experience and worth a try …

I was very disappointed with my visit to this African restaurant. The treatment of the guests left a lot to be desired. The service wasn't friendly. Questions about the dishes were downright unwelcome - it was as if they didn't want to bother explaining the dishes to me in more detail. About the food itself: Unfortunately, most of the food was tasteless, especially the rice which tasted like water. I was looking forward to authentic and flavorful African cuisine, but the food was bland and lacked depth. Overall the experience was disappointing and I definitely won't be returning.

I walked in drawn by the “East African” sign . The Chef/owner/sever lady introduced her Eritrean heritage . Very tasty spinach - lamb main dish with a refreshing salad

I really like the food and the ambience! Unfortunately, the store is usually very busy and you have to expect long waiting times. It is advisable to book a table in advance, but service at the table is not always the fastest. Nevertheless, I can only recommend eating here once :) Tip: coming a little earlier and avoiding the crowds is always better there.

Were there for the first time today. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was very appealing and the service was top notch. We really felt like we were visiting friends. In any case, we will be back as there is still a lot to discover on the menu.

As a guest you feel very comfortable here because the service responds to the guests' wishes and is also very friendly. Here you can see that gastronomy is alive and well. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, so many people can follow their example. The food is consistently good and lives up to its price. There is nothing to complain about here and I will come back.

Starter has almost no seasoning at all (nothing that was on the plate). Meat dishes are quite well seasoned, but portions are far too small - basically a blob on the flatbread without which you would never be full. So completely overpriced.

Recently visited this restaurant. It was a great evening with really good food. Despite acute understaffing (short-term absence) the kitchen staff gave 100 percent and, despite the challenging situation, dishes from the specialty menu were still prepared for us despite their complexity. The waitress helped in the kitchen throughout the evening and still ensured smooth service for the guests. The possibly longer serving times announced as a precautionary measure did not exist. Nevertheless, the food came to the table quickly. Thank you. We would be happy to come back next time we visit Frankfurt. Price note: Price-performance ratio is good. We had 2 starters, a bottle of wine, a large bottle of water, 2 main courses, an African coffee for 2 people and 1 dessert, which is why the price per person is of course higher. By the way, everything was very good🤗 We left the restaurant full. Were always treated kindly.

Small portions for big money! Unfriendly owner is free! We had dinner last night in the Savanna restaurant and were disappointed (after a long wait) by the small, poorly prepared portion size, which was disproportionate to the price. I reported back that the portion (chickpeas with rice) was so small that I wasn't full. The management then replied with an annoyed expression that I was probably too hungry. A good service would have offered to bring another portion. Paying 15.90 euros and leaving the restaurant hungry is more than annoying! After my companion reported back that she would like criticism to be dealt with in a friendly, professional manner, the owner left the table complaining. We can't shake the feeling that the extremely positive reviews are bought. We're definitely not coming back!

Real Ethiopian cuisine, in-house Ethiopian. Honey wine with food - it couldn't be better. You eat with your right hand, so no jewelry. Prices are okay, nice, quick service. We recommend .

I love the ambience of being able to eat with my hands!! The boss herself is still in the kitchen, so the food is a real pleasure. It's also very well prepared. I'm there often and have tried various dishes. Be sure to reserve on weekends. I recommend the mixed platter with meat. There are also vegan dishes!!

I have been here a number of times and always loved the food and the atmosphere. The service today (in a total empty restaurant at 8pm) did not want to let us sit where we wanted to sit though it was not reserved(at least no sign of reservation) without any reason. Hence 1 star for the service.

Das Essen war leider sehr enttäuschend. Abgesehen davon, dass einige produkte, wie die salat sauce oder der spinat wie aus der Tüte geschmeckt haben, war auch ansonsten das essen zu langweilig und auch nicht warm genug. Geschmacklich dachten wir, sind wir bei einem Inder mit unter anderem deutschen Gerichten. Die Atmosphäre ware leider nicht existent. Das restaurant war leer, es gab keine musik und dadurch hatte man das Gefühl nicht reden zu können, ohne das einer der wenigen anderen Gäste alles mithören kann. Der Service ist auch stark optimierbar gewesen. Von teilweise langen Wartezeiten in einem leeren Restaurant, hin zu ungeschultem Personal war alles dabei. Das einzig positive war der Rotwein, der das ganze erträglich gemacht hat. Keine Ahnung wie dieses Restaurant diese Bewertungen hier erhalten hat, aber leider hat es nicht mehr als 2 Sterne verdient.

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder da gewesen, aber unverändert gut. Dazu eine sehr nette und zuvorkommende Bedienung. Und ja, man sollte kein Problem mit scharfen Gerichten haben, sonst ist man etwas eingeschränkt.

Ein wirklich sehr niedliches Restaurant in schönem, detailreichen afrikanischen Ambiente. Die Portionen sind etwas wenig, aber es schmeckt unheimlich lecker. Leider war bei uns die Besitzerin etwas mit der Kundenbetreuung überfordert und als dann noch das EC- Gerät ausfiel, wurde sie sehr schnell ungehalten und pampig uns gegenüber. Schade!

Das Essen und die Erfahrung war super. Leider war die Wartezeit ziemlich lang wegen wahrscheinlichem Personalmangel (es gibt nur eine Frau zum Bedienen). Man muss einfach die Geduld und Zeit haben. Gerne wieder :)

Das Essen war unglaublich lecker, die Dame von der Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Das Savanna kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!

Waren hier schon ein paar Mal und es hat uns immer gut gefallen. Freundliche Bedienung und leckeres Essen. Nehmen immer zu zweit eine große gemischte Platte. Im Sommer gibt es einen kleinen Außenbereich im Hof.

Wir hatten eine vegetarische Vorspeisenplatte, ein vegetarisches Linsengericht und Lamm mit Okra; danach waren wir pappsatt. Alles hervorragend gewürzt - sehr lecker! Den traditionellen Kaffee sollte man auch nicht verpassen. Super freundliche Bedienung, angenehmes Lokal. Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder.

The worst Resturant I have ever experienced in my entire life. The owner ( lady ) was rude , prejudice . She refused to seat us, even though the Resturant was completely empty except for one table. She asked for 10 euros to use the toilet, this place should be subjected to the authorities. I have never experienced this sort of behavior from a Resturant owner.

Sehr herzlicher und freundlicher Service. Man fühlt sich direkt willkommen! Das Essen war sehr, sehr lecker. Tolle Gerichte mit wirklich leckeren Aromen. Herzhaft, schmackhaft und merklich mit Liebe zubereitet. Die Herzlichkeit des Service findet sich auf den Tellern wieder. Tipp: den traditionellen Kaffee darf man nicht verpassen!

I've been several times over the past few years and I would say that they managed to keep a very high standard. No gimmicks, just very good food and very nice service. There are a few tables set outside in the back that are quite nice and shaded. I would recommend this place to virtually everybody.

Es ist hier ein klein wenig teurer als bei vergleichbaren Restaurants, entsprechend ist aber auch der Service und das Essen aus unserer Sicht besser, weshalb dieses Restaurant unsere 1. Wahl ist, wenn wir afrikanisch Essen gehen wolle :)

Kleines, gemütliches Lokal, traditionell eingerichtet und auch die Speisen sind super. Vorher Tisch bestellen ist angeraten. Lokal liegt günstig, in wenigen Minuten ist man im Zentrum.

Ganz tolles Restaurant. Wir hatten zum Essen eine Platte für Zwei. Die Auswahl war gut. Die Preise sind für Frankfurter Verhältnisse gut. Auf der Platte war Rind, Spinat, Weißkohl, Linsen & Salat. Wir haben nicht alles geschafft zu essen, so viel sei gesagt. Ganz großes Lob auch für die Toiletten. Diese waren extrem sauber und hatte durch eine Duftkerze einen super Geruch. 👍 Die Chefin hat uns hier auch bedient und ist super freundlich. 😊 Kann das Restaurant definitiv empfehlen.

Herrliche Speisen, sehr freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service. Leider war das Essen nicht mehr richtig heiß, deshalb nur 4 Sterne. Der afrikanische Rotwein war sehr gut, aber etwas zu kalt. Der Espresso war mir persönlich zu sauer. Trotzdem werden wir wieder kommen- alleine schon für den köstlichen Nachtisch: Creme Brûleé mit Amarula!

Sehr leckeres Essen, große Portionen und eine sehr nette Besitzerin. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!

Super cozy restaurant! We went there at a rainy day and siting at the window looking outside. Good friendly service. We ordered the dish for two, so we can try everything, lamb is specially tasty and the rest as well. Price is fair.

If you are not from Ethiopia or Eritrea you may enjoy the adventure of eating in an exotic place. However, for those who know how it should taste, it is extremely poor quality, too much spices, too oily. If you ask a mixed non vegetarian plate, you get only one meat and other vegetarian (bad quality) food. Eating ther doesn't give the Habesha cuisine the value it deserves. But the German waiter was extremely kind and friendly. The owner/chef also came to ask if we didn't like the food, which shows they are customer focused

The restaurant itself is relatively small and with a very positive vibe. Food was excellent and the portions quite big (I couldn't eat it all), staff very friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable. I recommend to make a reservation.

Pour avoir eu des expériences de restaurants éthiopiens dans différents pays, celui-ci était quelque-peu décevant. D'abord, le choix e l'entrée a été une discussion avec le serveur qui disait que le mix d'entrées + le mix en plat faisait trop. J'ai suivi son conseil et mon entrée (lentilles) a été avalées en 4 ou 5 fourchetées, soit moins d'une minute. Les lentilles étaient effectivement très bonnes, mais il y en avait peu et la salade qui accompagnait avait une sauce sucrée qui semblait industrielle. le serveur m'a juré ses grands dieux après que ça ne l'était pas. Le plat, un mix de 5 éléments, était excellent pour 2, moyen pour deux, c'est à dire sans saveur d'autant plus qu'une portion était composée de simples légumes cuits à la vapeur (!!!) et je n'ai pas touché à la dernière qui était à nouveau une salade avec cette sauce. Si vous regardez mon commentaire sur un restau identique à Stockholm, vous verrez qu'il n'y a pas de match ! Point positif, le vin sud-africain, un pinotage, était très bon. Le service était correct et le restaurant propre. Alors, côté tarif, le rapport qualité-prix était bon, même si j'aurais préféré débourser davantage pour avoir plus de saveurs. Je précise que mes plats étaient végétariens, je n'ai pas pris de plats carnées, peut-être sont-ils meilleurs.
