A smaller, pleasant restaurant with good cuisine. The prices are reasonable and you can also get various regional products on your plate or in your glass. We had a rump steak which was extremely tender. The boss and her staff are experienced and on their toes. Clear recommendation 👍

What a wonderful place, what wonderful service. We felt very comfortable, had a great meal and enjoyed the fantastic service. Really only recommended! Especially because not many places have Wiener Schnitzel instead of Viennese style Schnitzel.

We used to go to the Saubar more often. That's why I went there again today to buy a voucher for Christmas. Admittedly, I was there 30 minutes before regular opening and made myself noticed by the manager at the window. This was obviously too much. Rolling my eyes, the door was opened for me. When I apologized and politely asked whether it might be possible to issue me a voucher, I only got a curt answer that they "don't have anything to issue vouchers yet"...whatever you need to have to do that. My answer that I would probably have to go somewhere else was not even waited for and the door was slammed again. So far I have sent everyone in Koblenz to the Saubar for the “best schnitzel”. But obviously this is no longer necessary. It's a shame, it used to be a down-to-earth restaurant, but now some reviews here say something different.

De ontvangst was oké en uiteraard het eten was verzorgd. De bediening door de serveerster Inga was oké, de drank een wit en een rode wijntje waren oké, en het dessert een crème brule was lekker. Uiteraard mocht een synaps van mertillen of hazelnoten niet ontbreken.

First of all: I rarely write a review, but I have to for our visit to the SauBar! We went there for dinner with 3 people on a Saturday (with a reservation) and everything was really perfect! Upon entering the location there was a very friendly welcome, very attentive and friendly service (without being intrusive) and the various dishes were all great! The prices match the quality and are fair! An all-round very nice stay, which certainly wasn't my last at the SauBar!

Durch die Kritiken hier motiviert, schlenderte ich durch die Koblenzer Altstadt in die "Saubar". Es hat sich echt gelohnt und ist sehr empfehlenswert. Positives Zeichen, es ist voll dort. Es fängt beim super freundlichen und aufmerksamen Personal an, geht weiter beim tollen Ambiente weiter. Es gab ein Gruß aus der Küche, der schon mundete. Mein Sonderwunsch Rahmwirsing, statt Salat, zum Schnitzel stellte überhaupt kein Problem da und dann war der auch noch saulecker. Also wenn ich wieder in Koblenz bin, weiß ich, wo ich einkehren werde.

General: We have reserved a table for two people. Reservations are important as a spontaneous visit can sometimes lead to a cancellation as the restaurant may be partially fully booked. Food: We had “Crispy Pork Belly” and “Hirschkulsch”. The dishes were prepared to perfection. Very tasty and well seasoned. Service: Extremely courteous. Heike served us. She was very attentive, polite and kind - thank you very much! Ambience: Beautifully designed and in the toilet you can be greeted by the chirping of birds. Thank you very much for an all-round harmonious hospitality.

Had dinner in the vaulted cellar last night: Two very nice, attentive and warm service staff, food arrived in no time, super tasty (!) and everything in a pleasant atmosphere. It doesn't get any better. Kudos to the whole team, we'll be happy to come back!

Richtig gutes Essen und nette Atmosphäre! Wir waren zum Schnitzeltag mit 2 Kindern hier und alles war lecker und tippitoppi!

Zufällig dort gelandet und wir wurden in den Gewölbekeller gebracht. Sehr schön eingerichtet, gute Akustik, klasse. Die nette Bedienung versorgte uns zügig mit Getränken. Jeder Tiech erhält frisches Baguette mit belgischer Faßbutter 😋 Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir an diesem Schnitzeltag natürlich Kalbs- und Schweinerückenschnitzel mit Fritten und Champignonsauce. Alles super lecker und schnell serviert. Wir waren rund um zufrieden. 😊🤩 Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist super.

We were able to spontaneously come to a table because another group had canceled. And boy, were we lucky with that. The atmosphere is really nice and the cellar in particular is really pretty. The service was absolutely excellent, competent and very friendly and humorous. Despite the announced long wait, the food was on the table as normal and incredibly tasty. Super tasty pumpkin soup, great main courses and the creme brulee was a poem. Plus delicious wines and competent advice! A really big recommendation!

We came here because of the good reviews. A thoroughly dignified ambience; access to the vault is more reminiscent of going to the toilet. The food varied between very good and snack level. Unfortunately, the promised super double spicy currywurst was nothing at all. Dessert orders shortly before the kitchen closed were only completed with discussion. In general, our waitress was quite unfriendly, apparently not voluntarily in this job or in need of a small update regarding customer loyalty...

The Saubar is definitely worth recommending! I've been there several times now and have only had positive experiences so far. In the excellent cuisine, a lot of value is obviously placed on quality and this is ultimately reflected in the taste of the dishes. The price is absolutely justified for the quality. It is particularly nice to sit in the vaulted cellar, but it is also very pleasant to sit in the upper area or outside.

Yesterday we were there with our old men's group for Schnitzel Day. You could choose all the ingredients and customize the taste experience. Everything, really everything and especially the schnitzels tasted excellent. The service was attentive, friendly, we felt comfortable and we would be happy to come back. Thank you for the lovely stay.

Quiet atmosphere (inner courtyard). The dry Pinot Gris was great and the smoked salmon on Bernese Rosti with salad was great. The service was very courteous and competent (multilingual/knew the wineries of the open wines by heart) We were so excited that we treated ourselves to another CLAY BEAN CRÈME BRÛLÉE. The BMI is in the basement again, but what the heck, you only live once ;-)

A perfect evening for three in the restaurant's outdoor area. All main courses and desserts were extremely tasty. The white wine rounded it all off.

Nicht einfach zu finden, wir haben uns durchgefragt und die Beharrlichkeit hat sich ausgezahlt. so lässt sich unser Besuch in diesem charmanten Restaurant beschreiben. Ein sehr freundlicher Empfang und nette Bedienung. Köstliches Risotto bei Zander mit knuspriger Kruste - ein Traum. Zum Nachtisch Espresso mit hausgemachten Pralinen - unbeschreiblich. Fazit: Absolut empfehlenswert. Dieses Restaurant ist ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die gutes Essen und herzlichen Service zu schätzen wissen.

Wir sind mit einer Gruppe von 11 Leuten hier.. Super Bedienung nett und zuvorkommend .. das Essen ein Genuss! Es ist Sonntag, Schnitzel Tag.. und alles war Mega ! Pommes.. Die Antipasti Platte als Vorspeise, die Schnitzel mit Gurken-Kartoffelsalat waren super, der Wein war fabelhaft, wie der Name des Weins, und der Espresso sehr lecker. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und selbst der Koch kam heraus, um zu fragen, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Wir arbeiten schon lange in der Nähe, waren aber noch nie dort essen, werden aber auf jeden Fall wiederkommen...

The relatively small restaurant with a fairly small kitchen is located in a historic house in a courtyard in the old town. Due to the backyard location, it is quiet but a bit difficult to find. There is another room in the cellar vault and a fairly large outdoor area in summer. If there are many guests on site, it may take some time until the food is ready. Regional products are preferred for the dishes. Recommended: every two weeks there is a schnitzel day on Sundays, where you can put together a variety of schnitzels and side dishes from a menu.

Full marks in all categories. Last night we spontaneously went to the Saubar without a reservation. We were assigned a seat outside by a friendly waitress and served extremely courteously. The food, Frankfurt egg first and pork schnitzel with cheese spaetzle afterwards as well as a carpaccio and risotto with pike perch fillet, were top in terms of taste and quality. Various wines and finally a crème brule rounded off the whole meal in the wonderful ambience of the old town courtyard. We were extremely satisfied and will come back. Only recommended.

I'm always happy about such a good surprise! I really didn't expect to eat so well. The egg with the green sauce was beautifully presented and tasted very good too. Tarte flambée, currywurst, anti pasti, all great. The veal schnitzel was really great! There was also the option of a decent potato and cucumber salad or nice crispy fries. The classic garnish was lemon, anchovy and capers! Really great. We were also served very friendly and competently. Thank you very much and keep it up. Highly recommended!

We can't say anything about the food itself, but we can report the following regarding the topic of "friendliness / dealing with potential guests": We visited Koblenz on a Sunday as a small family (3 people). Since the Saubar had good reviews, we wanted to try it out. When we got there and were looking around on the completely empty terrace for a suitable place for ourselves, a lady came rushing out of the restaurant and (without even greeting us) she said in a very unfriendly tone: “We have a break now and then off we go By 4 p.m. all tables are full! We don't have anything free!” Not a single table had a “reserved” sign on it and when we arrived it was around 3:30 p.m. (revise opening times on Google if you take a break at this time). I was so amazed that we went to a pizzeria right across the street. When we had finished eating there, we passed the Saubar again and even at 4:45 p.m. there were only a few people sitting on the Saubar terrace, which didn't fit at all with what the annoyed-looking lady said...

Everything was great. I'm always happy when we get a table. The food is very tasty (zander with risotto and grilled vegetables) and the service is friendly and fast. This creates a pleasant atmosphere.

We sat outside and got a table for two without a reservation because we were there early (around 5 p.m.). Reservations are recommended for a later time. The service is excellent, the employees are all very nice! The food is very good. We had schnitzel with spaetzle and the crispy pork belly. Both taste and quality were absolutely top! You even get Heinz french fries sauce for free, which we find very tasty. We will definitely come back next time we are in Koblenz!!!

I was here in the Airbnb and the place was good 👍. I ate at the restaurant once on the last day staying there and the food is awesome. I ordered the pork schnitzel with wedges which they don't always have. The portion was very big containing 2 schnitzel and a big portion of wedges. The food took a while to get the food tho. My sister had the fries which I tried and the were ok. So I am glad I took the wedges!😅

The three of us ate there on Friday evening, on the recommendation of colleagues. All three of us had the salad with honey gratinated goat cheese and a portion of fries. First the appetizer platter. The latter was the only one worth its price. The dressing and the portion size of the salad were not convincing at all and the price/performance ratio was therefore not right for us. The fries weren't great either, neither crispy nor seasoned, so we left them alone. Overall, we collectively wished we could sit at the neighboring Italian restaurant. The highlight was the waitress's snappy reaction to her question as to whether it was tasty. She couldn't handle the negative feedback, even though it was very matter-of-fact, and based on her reaction, she obviously took it personally. Maybe we just had a bad day there, but we still agreed we didn't want to test it again. But I recommend everyone to form their own opinion.

We had actually heard a lot of good things, maybe you can only go to the Saubar on the discounted schnitzel days, and maybe it's better to eat a schnitzel, I had a salad with goat cheese, the salad was a bit carelessly prepared and the dressing was quite sour . Otherwise the taste is okay. The goat cheese was very tasty, although it was served on very hard toasted bread. Well, a bit overpriced for €17.90. I would have liked a big, colorful salad. Price performance is simply not right. The starter was delicious and beautifully presented, my neighbors also had fries, which were very dark and unfortunately none of us at the table liked them. Too bad. We expected more.

We were there last night with friends of ours and it was simply amazing from the starter to the main course to the dessert. It was very, very tasty. The service was also on point, very friendly and funny, it was really fun to eat there. Keep it up, it was just great.

Unwelcoming waitress ! Despite our effort to drive directly there, we were asked to leave, it was rude.

When I asked by phone whether it would be possible to get a gluten-free dish, I was told in a very unfriendly tone that the SauBar was not an “allergy sufferer restaurant”. A simple no, I'm sorry, would have been enough for me. So I can't comment on the food but I was disappointed with the reaction.

We were there yesterday with our mom's regulars' table with a reservation (without children). On the recommendation of friends, we wanted to try the Saubar. The restaurant is relatively small, but nicely decorated. Bread and herb quark were served before the meal. The main courses came quickly and were sufficiently large. The taste was okay but nothing more. During the meal we wanted to order another round of shandy but the conditions kept passing us by without reacting. After about 10 minutes we finally received attention and were told that they would come to us shortly. Some time passed again until the conditions came to our table and our drinks order was taken. After drinking our shandy, we decided that the visit was okay and nothing more. We can't understand the hype surrounding the place and won't be coming back again.

Schnitzel and pork belly are highly recommended, as are the starters. We would love to come back 👍 We were lucky, but booking in advance is recommended. Praise also goes to the kitchen and the friendly service.

Vorerst muß man raten, einen Tisch zu reservieren. Man sitzt sehr gemütlich in einem Hot. Das Essen ist richtig gut. Es gibt regionale Küche aber sehr gut und hochwertig. Die Bedienung ist richtig freundlich uns sehr humorvoll. Gerne wieder.

A little tricky to find, but worth the effort. Went for lunch on a Saturday just after opening. We had curry wurst, a salad, pork belly and a Black Forest flammkuchen with a nice local Riesling to wash it all down. The server helped pick the wine, offering us a taste before committing to the bottle. Advice for eating gluten free as well. Outstanding food and service. I don’t know when I’ll be back in Koblenz, but I would happily eat here again.

Food was good. It took quite a long time until we had our food. A chef was canceled so it took longer, sorry for the long wait. Can just be recommended.

I visited the Saubar with my family on a weekday in May 2024. The bar was a bit difficult to find as it was in a courtyard. It was well attended and many tables were reserved. The staff was friendly and we were assigned a table in the vaulted cellar. Everything worked smoothly, ordering was quick, food came quickly and everything was delicious. Ambience was great, good mix of traditional and modern. Price/performance was right. Gladly again!

We were in Koblenz for a weekend and visited here quite by chance. I would particularly like to praise the very friendly service. The food was also very tasty and the cozy atmosphere in a rather small group contributed to a lovely evening.

Sehr sehr gut, Preis Leistung tip top Richtig gut gegessen. Kartoffelcreme Suppe (grandios) und Antipastiteller mit Gambas, 2x Schnitzel vom Schweinerücken mit Vorarlberger Käsespätzle mit Röstzwiebeln richtig lecker, endlich mal wieder richtig gute Schnitzel. Wie es sich gehört saftig und zart, mit einer Panade die schön hoch geht. Super leckere Tonkabohnen Creme Brüle (Rechtschreibung?) Und saftiger lau warmer schokokuchen der seinen Namen "schoko"-Kuchen gerecht wird Das alles gepaart mit einem sehr freundlichen nicht aufdringlichen exzellenten Service und hervorragend gezapften Bier 🍺.

Eines der besten Restaurants in Koblenz. Immer super lecker! Bedienungen motiviert, freundlich und ehrlich. Alle Gerichte die ich bislang probiert habe waren super lecker. Der einzige kleine negative Aspekt ist, dass die Karte ein Tagesgericht vertragen könnte. Wir würden die Saubar noch viel öfter besuchen, wenn es ab und an mal etwas neues gäbe. Da das Restaurant allerdings immer gut besucht ist und man selten spontan einen Tisch bekommt, funktioniert es wohl auch so mehr als gut (:

Traditional German cuisine, of the gutbürgerlich variety. I had the pork fillet with pepper sauce and slices of rösti, which was very good. With the Flammkuchen, it was one of the few options that allowed one to avoid the heavier starch options: the schnitzel and other cuts all came with either fries, spätzle or klöse, none of which I would not recommend to anyone who cares about their weight and their cholesterol. The ambiance in the cellar was nice, the service very friendly, the timing a bit slow (and it wasn’t even really busy) and they are unfortunately among the many restaurants that choose to carry afri cola, for reasons that are completely beyond me. Few cola aficionados are ethical enough to want an inferior beverage. But the problem was easily solved: I opted for sparkling water and the wine of the week, which was good value for money.
