Saray Restaurant in Düsseldorf

Saray is more of a cross between a kebab shop and a restaurant – a classic fast-food joint downstairs, and a somewhat dated seating area upstairs. Unfortunately, the whole place clearly shows signs of having seen better days. The decor is old, the furniture looks worn and unstable. The atmosphere simply doesn't fit in with today's Düsseldorf, which is full of modern, well-kept restaurants. About the food: I had the Adana skewer, which unfortunately wasn't at all convincing. The meat was dry, barely seasoned, and didn't seem fresh. My companion had the Iskender – the meat was also rather tough, the sauce watery, and the bread soggy. The biggest disappointment, however, was the appetizer. The appetizer plate looked like it had been sitting outside all day. The yogurt already tasted sour and "old" – definitely not a fresh impression. For me, that was a clear negative point right from the start. Overall, the Saray gives off an unkempt and outdated impression—neither the ambiance nor the quality of the food encourages a return visit. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

The doner bread wasn't crispy. The sauce was poor; you could still taste the bucket. The waitresses were completely uninterested in their work, and the customers weren't happy with the taste. It was a shame I didn't eat the doner and threw it in the trash.

The staff is friendly and approachable. You'll feel like you're in a Turkish restaurant. The food is delicious.

Right across from the Flixbus bus stop in Düsseldorf. The döner kebab is the same flavor as in Türkiye, but the portion is incredibly large; we ate it for two people. The wrap was also quite large. The availability of brewed tea is a special treat. The lentil soup was also delicious.

Everything used to be BETTER! No more lamb, doner kebabs. Cheap, run-of-the-mill bread that everyone uses. That's exactly why I went to Saray every day for the flatbread and lamb. Now, cheap, uncooked veal is just thrown into the sticky bread, fried halfway through. And the salad felt like 90% of the doner. Cocktail sauce was the bomb back then, but today it's abysmally bad. I've never eaten a worse doner in my life. Disgusting. €8.50 is a joke for that.

The veal doner is particularly good, and they serve free tea. Simply perfect. Service is only available when clearing tables; otherwise, it's self-service, and it's quite crowded because many tables are usually full. I'd happily go back again 👍

We tried the döner kebab. The portions were huge and delicious. Tea was complimentary. The Flixbus stop was right there, which was a huge plus.

My stay was wonderful. The staff is very friendly and polite. And the food? I won't give it any more stars because there aren't any! Without a doubt, the best grill restaurant I've ever eaten in Germany. I recommend it 10,000 times!

We enjoyed our only kebab in Germany here. We had a hard time finishing it. The portions were huge, the prices were very reasonable, and the flavor was amazing. After the meal, tea was free too :)

Unacceptable and hazardous to my health! I ordered through Wolt and explicitly stated that it couldn't contain onions due to an allergy. The lahmacun I received not only ignored the instructions, but was literally drowning in onions, more than any other order. This wasn't an oversight; it was sheer inconsideration. The salad was completely missing, leaving only onions and meat. A dangerous risk for allergy sufferers. I'll upload photos. I strongly advise against this shop. Never again!

This place is my guaranteed meeting point every time I pass through Dusseldorf. It is very close to the Flixbus bus stop, we discovered it while waiting for the bus to depart, we are glad we did, we had wonderful head and tripe soup, it was like healing.

The prices are very high, and they're cheating on the prices. I saw the waiter in the restroom, and unfortunately, he didn't wash his hands.

The inside is very crowded and very cramped. The employees are very indifferent because it is crowded. The desserts were waiting and tasteless.

I was just here with my group of 8 people, an employee was there he was so cheeky and unfriendly, we wanted to eat, he said go eat somewhere else, very cheeky he was wearing glasses

An older gentleman, I think his name was Aylin, with glasses and short hair, spoke to us very badly. There was enough space, but he said we didn't have any. Bad conditions, bad service, bad restaurant.

I was just there with eight people, and there was plenty of room, and that was a member of staff. A slightly older guy said we didn't have any room, and I was always there and everything was fine, but today was very bad. His name is Alen, I don't know exactly what his name is. We're never going there again.

Over the past few years, I've occasionally ordered food from Saray via Lieferando. I've never personally eaten there, so I can't comment on the place or the service, which is so often criticized here. But overall, I really can't say anything bad about the quality of the dishes I've received so far. I love the yogurt soup! And I order the lamb chops very often. So far, the meat has been of excellent quality and very well grilled. The side salads used to be much more generous and sometimes had a very good dressing, which seems to be discontinued, which is a shame. Unfortunately, there were also more onions than "salad." I also used to like the classic pide better than the small oval bread of today, for example. It was sloppy and not crispy at all. That's also a shame. Overall, everything has always been very tasty, and fortunately, I've never had any stomach problems after eating from Saray. Maybe I was lucky... But I can only report on my own personal experiences, and so far, they've been really good.

A disaster. I saw the place on TikTok and wanted to try it, but I was deeply disappointed! The service was an absolute disaster, not even worth a star. It's all self-service; no one comes and greets you. You have to get everything yourself, and they don't even look you in the face when you order. They speak Arabic, then Turkish, then German; no one can agree. And you only get bread or starters when you ask, even though it was included in the meal. The food is solid, nothing to complain about, but the service also makes the food taste less good.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would never have eaten at such a bad restaurant. There were 4 of us because my colleague waited 30 minutes in front of the counter for his kebab. We don't need to talk about the service. We had to bring our dishes to the table ourselves and the food was just disgusting. The toilets looked like prison toilets and after eating we all had stomach aches.

Unfortunately the food was very cold Had iskender and soup, soup and meat were completely cold, the bread was hard and little sauce. You have to order food yourself and pick it up for the price I pay there, not even service!

I previously gave this restaurant 5 stars but the quality has shockingly dropped. For a large plate of kebab (€12.9) I now only get a bit of kebab meat with fries. But where is the salad, bread and the rest of the side dishes (peppers etc.) that you used to get? The Iskender doesn't taste as good as it used to either. The staff is good but the ambience definitely needs improvement.

My colleague and I drove from Neuss to Düsseldorf after the gym to get a kebab. When we saw the kebab shop, our hearts sank; the shop looks really good. The bread was completely fresh, probably from the bakery or homemade, definitely delicious. Now about the meat: We ordered the kebab with only meat and even though we didn't have any sauce, the meat was juicy enough that you hardly got thirsty. Overall, top quality! And even though it was already 4:30 in the morning, they were super friendly and attentive. Gladly again and again!

A kebab in a class of its own! Can you be so excited about a kebab? Oh yeah!!! I travel a lot all over Germany and have tried many restaurants, but I have never eaten a kebab like this. Real fillet meat is used here. No joke: tender, high-quality fillet meat! The meat is buttery soft, almost like cotton in your mouth, perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The restaurant itself is functionally furnished and divided over two levels. Things are quick and uncomplicated downstairs, but upstairs the atmosphere is much quieter, perfect for a relaxed meeting or longer conversations. The staff is super friendly, attentive and close to the people, you immediately feel welcome. Conclusion: If I could give 10 stars, this restaurant would definitely deserve it! My clear recommendation: If you haven't tried this kebab, you've really missed out on something culinary!

Catastrophe, I ordered a mixed grill plate and my colleague ordered kebab. We have total stomach cramps, nausea and really bad bowel movements all night and all day. The meat was also raw and tasted really strange so I had to throw half of it away. In any case, there's something wrong with the meat that's cruel. Back then the store was really good, I don't know if there are new owners.

I cannot recommend this restaurant.

The place was really clean the staff was very friendly en the food was really nice we got free salades free turkisch sauces and free chai.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish. The restaurant looked promising, but the service was shockingly bad. Our waiter was rude, inattentive, and acted like we were bothering him just by being there. He got our order wrong, didn’t check in once during the meal, and practically threw the bill at us without a word.

The service was downright rude. We weren’t greeted at all—no “hello,” no smile, nothing. The staff just dropped the menu on the table without saying a single word. It felt cold, unwelcoming, and completely unprofessional. We felt so uncomfortable that we actually got up and left to dine elsewhere. No one should feel that unwelcome in a restaurant.

Disgraceful service - never again! We should have turned around as soon as we entered the restaurant: no greeting, no eye contact, nothing. Instead, the menu was slammed onto the table without a word – as if we were a nuisance. I have rarely experienced such disrespectful and disinterested “service”. Anyone who behaves like this towards their guests should perhaps consider whether gastronomy is really the right industry. Absolutely disappointing and definitely not a second time!

I recently visited Saray Restaurant and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. From the moment we placed our order, things started to go wrong. First of all, they added extra items to our order that we didn’t ask for. When we pointed this out, they insisted we had ordered them and forced us to pay, which was incredibly frustrating. We ordered one dish with garlic and chili, but they ended up adding it to all of the dishes without our consent. Moreover, they told us to sit upstairs, which we refused. Later, we realized that they charge more for those who go upstairs—a sneaky and unfair practice. We ordered 3 soft drinks but were charged for 4. When we brought this up, instead of apologizing or correcting the mistake politely, the staff became rude and argumentative. It was shocking to see not one but two staff members ganging up to argue with us rather than addressing the issue professionally. The quality of the food was equally disappointing. The rice was undercooked, and when we asked for bread, it was old and far from fresh. We also requested lemon for our fish as it was missing, but instead of accommodating us gracefully, the staff responded with more attitude and defensiveness. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience with unprofessional service and subpar food. I definitely would not recommend Saray Restaurant based on this visit.

Very tasty and good Turkish food

If you want very good lamb, this is definitely the right place for you. Doner meat is okay, there are better ones, but there are also worse ones. Service is attentive, but if you go upstairs with a larger group of boys, you notice and it is made clear again and again that you are not wanted. Maybe I can relate to the first time, but it's not our first time and we always behave calmly and orderly. But I still come back often because of the lamb, it's really great meat
