Sam's Cantine in Gröbenzell

Sam's Cantine, a hidden gem tucked away on Gröbenzell's Olchinger Straße, serves excellent breakfast, brunch, and lunch. First things first, the staff is always friendly, warm, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of their customers. The chef, Sami, is a special character, a cross between a Shinto priest, James Bond, and Native American warrior. Sometimes you feel like a flying tomahawk isn't too far away! Don't worry, just kidding. Remarkably, the staff remembers if you like a cushion to sit on, or always order table water, what kind of coffee you usually drink in case you have special dietary requirements, and, of course, they remember your name. A family-run business that also treats its customers like family during their stay at the café. As for the food, like another reviewer, there was a single occasion when I didn't quite enjoy the food. However, one time out of 300 is, in my opinion, exceptionally good. None of us are always perfect, and if a chef normally cooks a certain way, just ask them to do it differently for you. If you don't ask, you don't get. So, almost always, breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, and cake are delicious. Of particular note is the Murnau coffee, with the option of various plant-based milks, which is perhaps the most flavorful and perfectly prepared coffee in Germany—try it! Perhaps you're in the mood for a hearty cooked breakfast with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, toasted cheese, fresh herbs, etc., or a cooked vegetarian breakfast. And then there are four different very tasty vegan-Ayurveda-inspired coconut muesli bowls with optional fruit and soy yogurt. If you have any special requests or dietary requirements, Sami will always try to accommodate them. The lunch menu is varied, with generous portions of Mexican, Thai, traditional Bavarian, Italian, and international dishes, catering to the diverse needs of customers, including vegetarian and vegan options. There's also a selection of salads and delicious organic steaks. My favorite brunch snack is the club sandwich, simply divine. And don't miss Friday, which is lasagna/burger day—a great choice served with fries or salad. Gluten-free bread and spelt bread are often available, as are always delicious homemade gluten-free, vegan cakes, as well as traditional delicacies. I could write an entire chapter on the cakes: I'd like to give special mention to Mama Renata, who baked some of the most delicious cakes I've ever tasted, and Magdalena's cakes are just as good. Kudos also to Susi, Nadja, and Sami, who also bake, create, and serve wonderfully. A good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, beers, and wines is available, as are regular music, dancing, and cocktail nights. If you'd like a bit of yoga to stretch, book one of Magdalena's Sunday yoga breakfasts; there's nothing more to say. Free parking is usually available on-site, which is great given it's a busy area. There's indoor and outdoor patio seating for you to enjoy, as well as a takeaway service. Finally, although I haven't tried it, I've heard they're fabulous at organizing special events, birthdays, parties, weddings, corporate events, and so on. Most days, I drive 20 minutes to enjoy this place, sometimes an hour. I wholeheartedly recommend it. They're very rarely closed on Sundays. Check Sami's website on Saturday nights to be safe. For me, Sam's Cantine is a truly feel-good spot in Gröbenzell. Sitting outside, unwinding, and enjoying incredibly delicious food—it doesn't get much better than this. The dishes are not only incredibly delicious, but they also feel good all around—fresh, light, and full of flavor. It's exactly the combination that fills you up without sending you into a food coma. Sami and his team are incredibly welcoming and create a relaxed, honest atmosphere. Clearly: 5 stars—and an absolute recommendation for anyone who enjoys great food in a great atmosphere. Top!

A buddy and I went to Sam's Cantine for breakfast. The selection of dishes leaves little to be desired. The muesli tasted excellent. The scrambled eggs made from organic eggs were prepared to perfection. Absolutely recommended!

Good and tasty coffee... Unfortunately, it's now too expensive... €5 (with tip) is pretty steep...

Very nice little restaurant. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Some vegan dishes, as well as oat cappucino (very tasty) and vegan cakes. I haven't tried it though! I had the potatoes with vegetables. It tasted very good and I was full. I got vegan yogurt with herbs instead of quark 👌🏽

Wir werden jedes Mal mit exzellentem Service und Küche verwöhnt! Auf jeden Fall 5* in jeder Kategorie! Es gibt immer verschiedene Gerichte zum Mittag zur Auswahl, diese sind stets frisch, knackig und gesund. Bei der Kuchenauswahl kann selbst ich nicht widerstehen! Hier gibt es auch eine leckere Auswahl für Veganer-falls man einer ist. 😉 Danke an das Team für die jedes Mal leckere und erholsame Mittagspause!

A lovely place with good food, nice service and private parking. Great desserts and coffee too. Just one important thing - it's not a "canteen", it's a restaurant. You will wait for food. If you want to come here for lunch plan a lot of time.

Sehr gute home-made Food, netter Service! Leckere Gerichte ob Salate, Pasta, Steaks oder die Bürgerkarte vom Freitag mitt leckeren Pommes! Eine gute Auswahl an kleinen Mittagsgerichten, weniger ist mehr dafür frisch zubereitet. Eine klare Empfehlung nicht nur für die Mittagspause....

Leider kann ich mich den Eindrücken der anderen Rezensentinnen nicht anschließen. Der Service war sehr nett, mehr positives konnte ich nicht entdecken. Kartenzahlung funktionierte nach minutenlangem Herumprobieren nicht. Die Kartoffelpfanne (zum Mitnehmen) war nicht lecker: Kartoffeln waren überwürzt und schmeckten leicht orientalisch (an sich mal was Neues), leider war das Gemüse, insbesondere der Brokkoli einfach nur roh und sogar teilweise trocken. Scharf angebratenes Wok-Gemüse wäre ja eine gute Sache, nur leider ging es hier auf Kosten der Qualität wohl um die Zeit. Und dann schmeckt das ganze einfach nicht, wenn quasi rohe Stücke Paprika, Karotte und Brokkoli ohne Würzung bei den angebratenen Kartoffeln liegen. Leider sind wir sehr weit weg gewesen und eine erneute Anfahrt hätte sich nicht gelohnt. Als erster Eindruck war das nun eben zu schlecht, um es erneut auszuprobieren.

Zutaten frisch, Bedienung nicht allzu freundlich, Essen leider recht fad (etwas mehr Gewürz würde den Gerichten sicher gut tun). Das Publikum aus dem Yoga-Zentrum darüber stört sich daran aber wohl nicht wirklich.

Jeden Tag frisch und lecker. Gutes Standardangebot und zusätzlich täglich wechselnde Fleisch- und vegetarische Gerichte. Wir finden immer was.

Die besten Burger weit und breit. Alles wird frisch zubereitet und auf den Punkt gegart. Superfreundliches Personal und eine tolle selbst gemachte Limonade runden den durchweg positiven Gesamteindruck ab.

Für diese Ecke ist das ein echter Geheimtipp. Super leckeres frisches Frühstück. Die Burger am Freitag sind ein Gaumenschmaus. Mein Favorit ist der Boss Burger. 🍔😋👍 Alle Mittagsgerichte mit Liebe zubereitet, großzügige Portionen, sehr lecker und für einen fairen Preis. Für private Feiern sehr zu empfehlen sowie den Catering Service! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und vor allem mega aufmerksam. Wir kommen sehr gerne immer wieder. Weiter so!

Wirklich gut! Wir haben während einer Autoinspektion dort gefrühstückt und waren durchweg positiv überrascht. Sehr lecker, vielfältig, große Portionen, günstig, frisch zubereitet und auch noch ein aufmerksamer, freundlicher Service... findet man selten!

Wohl noch ein Geheimtip: und wämstens zu empfehlen! Frisch zubereitete Speisen, alles hausgemacht, gesund und super-lecker, dazu ein herzlicher und freundlicher Service - was will man mehr!?! Der Sonntags-Brunch (1x im Monat) ist der Hit, aber auch die Mittagsgerichte und die Burger immer wieder ein Geschmackserlebnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder :-)

Im oberbayerischen Gröbenzell ein urschwäbisches Gericht wie Linsen mit Spätzle zu finden, war eine ebenso völlig unerwartete wie sehr erfreuliche Erfahrung ! Die Linsen geschmacklich perfekt, ebenso die Spätzle. Aber auch das Thai Curry war sehr gut. Das ganze dann auch noch nicht nur preiswert, sondern für den Großraum München sehr günstig ! Dazu noch superfreundliches Personal. Nicht nur für alle, die ihren Jeep, Dodge, Chevy oder Fiat gegenüber zur Inspektion bringen, eine absolute Empfehlung !

Gut essen und wohlfühlen? Hier ißt man richtig!! Man schmeckt die Liebe zur Detail und die hochwertige Produkt Wahl. Burger Freitag ist mein Favorit dazu einen leckeren Popeye Smoothie!! Die Burger sind mit Abstand die besten weit und breit!! Auch die Hintergrundmusik ist immer sehr stimmig und sorgt für eine entspannte Atmosphäre und zur guter letzt eine super freundliche Crew die einen top Service leistet... da lohnt sich auch eine längere Anfahrt!!
