SAM - sushi and meat - Maxvorstadt in München

The food was great, we tried lots, from the ramen, to the bowls and desserts. All tasted amazing, service was great and so was the atmosphere, only complaint is that it’s pretty expensive. 6 pieces of typical inside out maki sushi for 18€ is way too expensive.

Awesome food, decent pricing, and hefty portion sizes. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place with good quality ramen!

Extremely delicious!! Ramen is sensational.

A really great restaurant with a Japanese flair. Although the seating is not as nice as the Schwanthalerhöhe location, it is still inviting. I had two different rolls, boiled peas and a few bites of the dumplings that my relatives had ordered. I found the prices for the food to be okay, but the prices for the drinks were bottomless. €5.20 for a mango spritzer served in an IKEA glass was already at the limit. Service was very friendly, but unfortunately not often enough at our table to ask for further orders.

I will continue to downrate every single restaurant that refuses to serve tap water. So there you go. It's the most natural thing in the entire rest of the world. Grow up.

Ramen very tasty and with some local inspiration

I'm not familiar with this type of food but I really enjoyed it. A pleasant change. The service and boss were all very nice. If you want to eat cheaply, this is of course the wrong place for you to go to a restaurant like this. The prices are absolutely reasonable.

The main ingredients for ramen were diverse and sufficient. I wanted it to be Chicken Broth, but they brought it as vegetable broth. The amount of meat is sufficient, it may be useful for those who prefer vegetables to consider the price. Everything needed for a short visit was available. The place is large, there are enough tables for mass gatherings. I didn't use the toilet.

We visited the restaurant and, although the food was of good quality (we really liked the ramen in particular), the service did not live up to expectations. We left a 7 euro tip, but didn't even receive a hello or thank you from the waitress. Also, we wanted to take away some food we ordered, but we were asked to pay extra for the box. A disappointing experience from a service point of view, despite the good food. Unfortunately I don't think I will return, hoping that they will improve the attention towards customers.

A culinary high-quality restaurant! Today I visited the restaurant in the evening. Immediately after entering, we (two people) were assigned a table. The decor of the restaurant created a great ambience. The menu offered a diverse selection of drinks and food. I decided on a delicious cocktail and also tried some Japanese beer. Both complemented the meal excellently, although the price of the beer was surprisingly low despite being imported from Japan. Both the drinks and the food didn't take long to arrive. Both were brought to the table surprisingly quickly. I ate the "Mango Veggie Roll" and the "Chicken Dumplings". I really enjoyed both dishes. The "Mango Veggie Roll" had 6 large pieces and was served with a delicious peanut sauce. The roll was well filled with cream cheese, mango and avocado. The "Chicken Dumplings", 5 pieces, were very deliciously seasoned and were also served with a fine sauce. The operating staff was always friendly, attentive and courteous. You never had to wait long. The only complaint was that the music didn't really fit the restaurant. The evening in the restaurant was very cozy and relaxed. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy fine Asian cuisine.

Price/performance is not right at all. Very disappointing! Bowl for €22 had almost nothing in it..

The restaurant seems cold and unimaginative. The furniture is very uncomfortable. We ordered the platter for 2 people. 40 euros are charged per person. Which is totally fine. But when the record came out we were honestly shocked because it was really tiny. A total of 120 euros for a small plate, 2 soups and 2 drinks is quite proud.

Great restaurant, fast service and great food. I personally find sitting on benches without backrests uncomfortable in the long run.

After a work event, we headed to this spot. The ambiance was pleasant, and the food didn’t disappoint. The enormous salad and fresh sushi were highlights. It was a relaxing, enjoyable experience, and sharing it with a work colleague made it all the more memorable.

Great food, well suited for bigger groups as there's loads of big tables. Unfortunately there was some confusion around telling their dishes apart, which makes it difficult in groups where you just need serving staff who are really on it.

I've eaten here a few times. It's super tasty and the portions are really big. The staff is very friendly.

We went for the second time, it is a great place in everything, everything we ate was very, very delicious. You should definitely try the fusion sushi.

Good location and nice interior. Unfortunately, we encountered a very unfriendly waiter. The food was tasty, but the wait was too long, especially considering there were only 3-4 tables occupied, and oddly, other customers got their ramen before us, even though they arrived later. Prices are above average, even a bit expensive. The atmosphere is pleasant, except for the unpleasant waiter :) Also, it was surprising they don't offer free tap water; very good cocktails though

The best sushi I have eaten. Super fresh, perfect rice cooking, top filling. It costs a small budget but it's worth it. I recommend.

We spontaneously went to SAM for the first time and ordered 4 Japanese tapas, pork belly (very soft and well seasoned), dumplings, spinach and salmon sashimi. If you're not hungry, this selection is highly recommended. The salmon in particular melted in the mouth.

SAM is Japanese-inspired fusion food, big portion sizes and good cuts of sushi and sashimi. We had the Chirashi don (sashimi and salad on a bed of rice), Black River roll (BBQ eel, avocado and shrimp), the Salmon Poke Bowl (more of a salad with cubed salmon and tuna sashimi), and a BBQ pork belly rice bowl. It's a fun spot with an upbeat vibe and the service is friendly. Nice spot for dates and group dinners. Great list of Japanese/Asian inspired cocktails and sake.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. One in five sushi rolls ordered was delivered incorrectly, and the waiter was unhelpful, initially denying the error. Instead of replacing the wrong reel for free, we were only offered half price for the correct reel. The handling of the error was unprofessional and unfortunately spoiled the overall impression. I hope that customer complaints will be addressed better in the future.

SAM Sushi is one of the best in Munich, but I'd rather go to Neuhausen. In Maxvorstadt there is always stress with the service. Wrong orders, unfriendly, hectic - very loud music and uncomfortable furniture complete the atmosphere. But SAM Neuhausen gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent food, nothing to say. There are many vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Everything exquisite. Only thing: a little expensive.

I enjoyed the ramen and drinks. I had a great time during my first visit so I took my friends along with me the next time. The experience on my second visit however was bad enough to prompt me never to go back again. My friends had a misunderstanding related to their order. But as we tried to resolve the issue, we were met with aggressive behavior from a member of the waitstaff who claimed to be the manager. Shocked and disappointed.

It was my first time here and I couldn't really imagine what the name on the menu said. I was even more positively surprised by the presentation and taste. Impressive. The staff is very friendly. I would be happy to come back.

It was almost empty, they were served on time, I ordered a mixed soup with udon noodles and seafood for an additional fee. The broth is classic spicy, inside they put soy sprouts, half an egg, a piece of salmon and half a potato yam 😄 this pleasure cost 22-23 euros. Compared to Germany, the soup was good and nice-looking) the waitress was responsive and offered to charge the phone, because... I didn't have a charger.

Delicious ramen, but unfortunately our liter of water cost €8, which is incomprehensible.

The barbecued pork with a la carte white rice is very delicious. It should be much better than ramen. If you eat too much bread in Germany, you will feel like crying when you eat white rice. Rice is the most delicious☺️

The price per person is 38 euros, the service is okay, and the taste is okay.

Delicious food! Prices are at Munich level, so you can leave around 30 euros. The waitress doesn't come to the table on their own, you have to give them a look. But otherwise super nice people!

Lunch with great value for money and very good quality for a balanced meal. The Superfood Rice Bowl vegan or with chicken, €10.90 each, is a good portion and comes with a small starter soup. The service was quick and friendly.

There is not only sushi, but also really recommended ramen with different ingredients and preparation methods: with meat, vegetarian and also vegan. Tastes good and filling. Not everyone can manage an appetizer or dessert... seats at the edge are nice... the large benches in the middle have no backrest and are uncomfortable in the long run

Reserved table was not available. Starters and main courses were served together. Food good, but prices very demanding.

Unfortunately the salmon bowl was missing. When I contacted the restaurant by phone, I was forwarded to the next employee, who was unfriendly from the start and also very unreasonable and claimed that the supplier must have stolen the dish (which I can't imagine with the best will in the world) and I I should contact Volt.

The service and food at SAM are simply wonderful. We had several types of sushi, Japanese tapas and dessert. Everything was super tasty and beautifully prepared.

We ate very well and plentifully here. The food is of good quality and very fresh. The service was quick and friendly. Priced within the framework for the location in Schwabing.

They cheated, and by a large amount! The menu lists the price for a board of sushi for two, but the waitress brazenly stated that this is the price for one person. She refused to issue an invoice before payment, then they saw on the receipt that the price was written in as on the menu. But since we were immediately outraged by the price, the amount we paid went through. The hall is a stable: long tables and benches. Sushi and sushi, nothing special. I am attaching a photo of our order. We paid 274 euros for it! The impression was disgusting! I don't recommend it!

I was thoroughly impressed by this Japanese restaurant. The wheat ramen with vegetables and the accompanying tempura were absolutely delicious. Additionally, the ambience of the restaurant was quite pleasant, as it offered a spacious and comfortable environment.

The dining experience here is below average. We were traveling here for museum visits. On our way, we decided to stop by and grab lunch. When we first walked in the door, there wasn’t anyone greeting us or taking us to the table. There was only one waiter and many bartenders behind the bar. Only two tables were occupied. The bartenders obviously noticed us but didn’t say anything until I asked them where to sit. From the moment we walked in, there was an elderly white woman who kept staring at us bluntly and gossiping with her friend. I don’t get it - why it’s surprising to see Asians in an Asian restaurant, come on. The ramens we ordered were really salty and not really good. There was no service at all. When the waiter finally came when we asked him for a check. He asked us how it was, and I told him that it’s okay but the ramen was too salty. He seemed unbelievable / offended. My friend was paying with card, and there was no tipping options below 25%. Because the service was almost none to poor, and the food was bad, she didn’t want to tip. The waiter then told us in a really unpleasant tone that “in Germany, you are required to pay tips.” The whole restaurant is a joke 👍

Visiting this restaurant left a very bad impression. The prices are not right. The atmosphere is very loud. There is no ventilation in the restaurant, it is very stuffy, the windows cannot be opened. Disappointed with the service as the waiter did not specify that the order of the set should be paid per person and not for the set itself. I didn't really like the taste of the food either.

We had the bowl with tempura vegetables and the vegetable curry. The tempura vegetables were more of a vegetable fritter and the curry was massive and lukewarm, so I wondered whether there was a real kitchen here or whether everything had been prepared for a long time and was just shoved under the microwave. In any case, neither was freshly cooked. A look at the table next door showed that the sushi looked really good, even if it wasn't exactly cheap. A glass of wine 0.2 is also quite expensive at €9-10. The service was nice and accepted our criticism in a friendly manner. Ambience quite loud and not very comfortable. Conclusion: more for younger, not so demanding guests, but with enough money in their pockets.

Really delicious food at reasonable prices and great selection. The picture shows the lunch menu M1 - Ramen with meat, which tastes great. The service staff are extremely committed, but at lunchtime it often takes at least 40 minutes from being seated until the food arrives. It gets crowded during the lunch break and it's a bit surprising why there are too few staff at that time.

Super delicious!! The chicken dumplings are particularly recommended. The cocktails were also very good. There is a lot of space inside, so with a bit of luck you can find something even without a reservation. The service was very nice and attentive.

The food is very tasty and tender. The pork belly is especially tender and the sauce is perfect. The sushi is a bit pricey but honestly it is worth the price and I'm saying that and I've never considered myself a big sushi fan. 10/10 would recommend. The "sushi on fire" plate is a bargain tho, totally worth it.

Simple lovely Japanese food. If you want to have a nice evening with friends, for some drinks and some Japanese bites, this is definitely place you would enjoy.

Sehr leckeres Sushi und Ramen, gute Drinks allerdings nicht ganz günstig. Schönes Ambiente, der Service hat uns allerdings oft übersehen weil wir an einem Ecktisch saßen. Jedoch bekamen wir einen Drink aufs Haus als es stark regnete und wir an der Bar auf besseres Wetter gewartet haben! Top!

Tried ramen. Not authentic but tasted good.

Wir waren mit nicht so hohen Erwartungen und hungrig in das Restaurant gegangen und wurden mehr als nur positiv überrascht. Das Essen war lecker und auch sehr große Portionen. Der Service war ok, höflich und freundlich, bissle höhere Preise für Uni-Nähe. Wir können dieses Lokal empfehlen und werden gerne wieder kommen.

Eine gute Wahl wenn man in der Maxvorstadt ist. Sehr große Portionen, die man auch problemlos später mitnehmen darf! Freundlicher Service.

Atmosphäre im Inneren nicht so schön, zwar großzügig aber unpersönlich. Draußen aber schön zu sitzen. Sushi und Ramen sehr gut, Getränke auch gut. Service war manchmal etwas langsam, aber sehr freundlich. Preis-Leistung in Ordnung.

WIr haben hier einmal gegessen, ansonsten aber häufig bestellt oder abgeholt. Dabei sowohl für Zuhause, als auch für die Arbeit. Unfassbar gutes Essen, muss ich sagen. Besonders der spicy Octopus und der Pork Belly haben es mir angetan; aber natürlich auch das Sushi. Viereinhalb, damit fünf Sterne

The only bad thing about this place is the odor indoors. After you finish your delicious sushi and get out the place, you realise that all of your clothes, hair and even skin smells very bad. But the food is just amazing! The owners should definitely find a solution to this odor issue.

Kann man reingehen, muss man aber nicht. Bahnhofsatmosphäre. Bei Gerichten, die auf der Karte stehen, muss der Kellner "erst schauen, ob das noch gemacht wird" (?). Getränkebestellung falsch aufgenommen. Portion groß, paniertes Chicken lecker, aber die Currysoße sah aus wie schon mal gegessen, und schmeckte fürchterlich. Angerichtet wars schön, aber was hilft das. Preislich auch im oberen Segment. Ich bin nur rein, weil beim Vietnamesen um die Ecke voll war, und ich komme auch bestimmt nicht nochmal.
