Sam Kullman's Diner Regensburg in Regensburg

I was there several years ago for business. The owner stayed open for the US super bowl. I was cheering for San Francisco, there were other Americans cheering for Baltimore. Thank you for the great time.

We went to Kullmans yesterday and were extremely disappointed. We waited an hour for our food, and then the fries were cold and stale. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he started arguing with me that the food was fresh. After I made it clear again that this wasn't the case, I finally got something new. The service was incredibly slow. And the food was presented very carelessly. This was definitely our last visit.

After a long time, I was really looking forward to eating at your restaurant again. Unfortunately, yesterday's experience was all the more disappointing. The food was bland and also far too cold, which significantly detracted from the overall impression. I would like to emphasize that the service staff seemed very attentive, and I understand that it was a busy time. However, precisely because of this, I would have expected better quality, especially regarding such a crucial aspect as the food. Overall, yesterday's service was unfortunately not good and did not meet the expectations I have of your restaurant after previous visits. I sincerely hope that this was an exception and that the usual high quality will be restored in the future.

Always worth a visit - the burgers were great

Unfortunately, I'm only familiar with the Kullmans in Brück near Berlin. However, this one in Regensburg didn't disappoint us. It's really beautifully decorated for Christmas. The parking spaces are right behind or to the side of the Kullmans. Unfortunately, they're a bit cramped, and if someone doesn't park well, they can easily take up two spaces. We had to go in and out twice before a space finally became available. The staff was very friendly, and we were shown to a table immediately. After a few mix-ups (mobile vouchers), we received our food about 55 minutes later. Unfortunately, the spare ribs were missing the sauce. Perhaps they're marinated that way, but when they were served, there was nothing on top. I'm used to it being different in Brück. The server then brought a small jar of sauce. Unfortunately, it seemed to be in the refrigerated section. So, cold sauce on warm ribs. It's not the end of the world, though. The service was excellent. It was even the manager who served us. Unfortunately, it wasn't the spare ribs. He was very attentive, always checking if everything was alright, and was always in a great mood. A huge compliment! The food was fantastic, and the Christmas atmosphere was wonderful. It could even have been a little more elaborate. After all, we're talking about an American restaurant (or at least something with an American flair). At least we arrived in style with our V8. So, all in all, we made the right choice.

The diner looks incredibly authentic inside and out, exactly as you'd hope. Unfortunately, the kitchen couldn't live up to that promise with the Philly Cheese Steak. The sandwich was anything but authentic. Instead of proper cheese, they used a simple cheese sauce that tasted exactly like nacho sauce. For me, that has nothing to do with a real Philly Cheese Steak. The rest was okay and tasty, but anyone expecting authentic American food should be careful when ordering.

Waiting a leisurely 30 minutes for drinks, only to then have to wait a full hour for food, is something even a five-year-old could probably manage. Question your system and the work ethic of your employees. It's outrageous.

The restaurant was open until 11:00 PM. I arrived around 9:40 PM. I was initially ignored. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any food because, supposedly, the kitchen was already closed. However, I saw that they were still serving food. Then I was told that I should have waited at the entrance to be seated, even though the restaurant was practically empty. "If I was hungry, I should go to the pizzeria a few doors down." Therefore, I unfortunately cannot recommend it.

The food was good. However, we had to wait an hour for five burgers and two portions of fries.

My previous opinion of Kullmans was always very positive, but unfortunately, that has changed recently. The prices kept going up, which I initially accepted since the quality was still very good. But now they've changed the recipe for their Sweet and Smokey BBQ sauces, and they don't just taste different, they really don't taste good. The burgers and pulled pork are covered in the new sauce, which ruins these dishes as well. Sorry, but this needs to be changed. Quality always comes first!

So…we've been ordering burgers and fries for pickup almost every Friday for at least two years now…the burgers are ALWAYS ready to the minute and the team is super friendly! Exactly what you'd expect; the food isn't groundbreaking, but it's good. You can't go wrong with the burgers and steaks, in particular. Drink prices are typical for Regensburg—very high.

It was okay, but I would have liked a bit more choice at breakfast.

It was our first time there. The food took forever (over an hour), and then the side dish was wrong and looked stale. On our way out, we inevitably overheard a heated argument in the kitchen. Were my expectations too high?

The food was delicious and the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour before we could order more drinks, and it was quite cold inside.

I waited ages for my drinks. We also had to wait a very long time for our food afterwards. If the restaurant had been full, I would have understood. But it was only half full. The value for money was also poor. I was there for the first and last time.

The prices are quite high compared to the taste of the food. The burger was okay, but nothing special. Incidentally, we ordered fries, which were served on a tiny plate. I don't think we'll be coming back here.

Yesterday I ordered food. One burger with fries and one medium steak. The 200g steak wasn't available, only the 280g version. So I went with the larger one. Unfortunately, the quality wasn't good; it was partly overcooked and stringy in the middle. When the server asked if everything was alright, the quality and the price were criticized. They said they would pass it on. I don't know if they did. There was no apology. So, in conclusion: friendly service, good location, food, well...unfortunately.

We used to come here very often...now I've been disappointed three times in a row, and there won't be a fourth visit anytime soon. Perhaps the owner should consider hiring an additional chef when the restaurant is packed on weekends. The service was friendly, everything was fine...but the wait was a disaster—over an hour despite having a reservation. The food was partly cold, or the medium steak was overcooked...why is it like this now? The restaurant used to be really great! I wouldn't have said anything once, but three times in a row within a few weeks can't be a coincidence. It's a real shame. We didn't order dessert because we had to leave...if the wait times are reasonable again, maybe we'll give it another try.

Bad service, it looks good but they didn't serve me

We reserved a table for a celebration. The food was delicious, however, the service was very poor. We were ignored and not served by the staff. They didn't even take our second round of drinks. It was a real shame, as the food was excellent.

Not recommended. All of our burger patties were burnt, as was the pulled pork (which also had very little meat). We informed the staff, but they accepted it without comment. We also waited an hour for our order. When paying by card, a tip was required; otherwise, the payment couldn't be processed. The restaurant was very cold and drafty; we sometimes had to wear jackets while eating. Unfortunately, the staff was neither friendly nor attentive. We cannot recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, we had to wait well over 35 minutes for two burgers with fries and two pulled pork orders. The chicken burger had hardly any sauce. The bacon was inedible, and the fries were awful. The pulled pork was almost half the portion we had last year. The waiter told us to make a reservation next time… No next time!

We visit Kullmann's regularly, but I didn't like our last visit. Our waiter, Anur, was great, the food was delicious, there were three families together, and the bill was over €200. A blonde-haired young woman at the bar was loudly complaining about our children and talking horribly about them. Loudly, yes, I'll tell you right away, the children were wandering back and forth, but please, you're a family-friendly restaurant, if you feel the need to rant about my child, go to the kitchen, let out the nasty words, and come back laughing! I'm so disappointed in her.

The value for money used to be better. We've eaten at Kullmans many times and we were always very satisfied with everything. This time, however, we ordered a regular burger with a side of fries and a bunless burger (actually with a side of coleslaw, but the waiter said it came with coleslaw anyway, so I decided against it). We were very perplexed when our food arrived. The "regular" portion was a normal size and filling, while the bunless burger was just a patty, a slice of cheese, a strip of bacon, a leaf of lettuce, and a few onions. And all that for the regular price of €12.90. We felt a bit ripped off. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he simply said that it was just the "instructions from above" and unfortunately there was nothing he could do. Despite this, the staff was friendly as always.

Anyone looking for the American diner experience will get their money's worth at Sam Kullman's Diner. A great atmosphere, very friendly service, and an overwhelming selection of American specialties. While the prices aren't cheap, the quality of the food completely justifies them. A quick tip: Reservations are highly recommended, as the place is very popular. Parking is available, but it's usually completely full at peak times. It's best to park in the parking garage near the academies. It's not far away, and walking will work up an appetite!

Food super delicious, service super fast and friendly and attentive

The fact that the restaurant has been around for so long speaks for itself. Today, Saturday, it was busy and accordingly loud. Service was friendly and efficient. The spare ribs tasted delicious.

My burger was as dry as a stone… the meat can be premium but the quality gets lost when you overcook it - which seems logical since it took them 50 min to serve a burger. The waitress seemed very annoyed and was extremely impatient.

We were there with family today to celebrate our niece's birthday. There were eight of us, and everyone really enjoyed it. I had steak with baked potato/sour cream and coleslaw. Next to the steak was a nest of fried arugula sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and melted cherry tomatoes. Herb butter, too, of course. I'm thrilled and enjoyed mine so much! It was delicious. The table was set appropriately for the occasion; the service was very friendly. I'd love to go again!

The burgers are top-notch, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, someone at the table got the wrong burger. The nachos on the side are overpriced; for €7, you get a handful of supermarket tortilla chips without any sauce. Better to order fries or onion rings.

The Burgers are good but not great. The place is decorated as a US American diner. The service is good but we waited 30min to get our meal. Our main interest was to combine a burger dinner with a Milkshake, for some reason, there is no many places that offer this in Regensburg. Bear in mind parking 🅿️ is a nightmare here, the parking area behind the restaurant is really small and on the dining times always full and street parking is not possible, we tried there for 20 min and gave up, we ended parking at the Arcaden Shopping Center which is 300 m down the road.

We had all-you-can-eat chicken wings there, which were very tasty. Unfortunately, they only had two varieties. Maybe two more would have been cool, too. Otherwise, I can't rate the rest of the menu. Unfortunately, we were often ignored by the staff, even though they repeatedly looked us in the face.

Very bad service! 20 minutes without staff activity! Almost empty Restaurant and five employees talking at the bar and doing nothing. Looking their nice phones. Owner is maybe rich and he doesn't see it, but shell he see it.

A true American diner experience in Regensburg! We enjoy coming back year after year, especially because of the delicious milkshakes. The burgers are also decent, and the portions are generous. The service is friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is typically American, instantly creating a holiday feeling. A fantastic experience that we'd happily recommend!

The food was okay. I recommend everyone go for the all-you-can-eat Wednesday, but you should make a reservation in advance. It does take a while for the food to arrive, but you just need to chill out. If you're looking for a stress-free experience, Pauline will come over and sort it out!

I can only report on the Spar ribs. Half of them were gone, and the other half tasted bad and weird. I'll never want to order anything from there again!!!

The burger was mediocre, with a hard and dry patty. The competition in Regensburg was much better. Service was very friendly, but slow. When I paid with my debit card, the employee arbitrarily increased his tip from €2 to €4 (the bill was €23)!!! That's unacceptable! The employee took my card and held it up to the machine himself. Since this had never happened to me before, I didn't explicitly ask. The bill then showed double the tip - an absolute no-go!!! I will definitely not go there again!

The restaurant has a truly American design and decor. The prices are very high. The quality is very good. The atmosphere is really cool. And there's a varied menu for every day. Tuesdays are especially cool. 🙂‍↕️🤩, all you can eat ribs later. You should definitely go and try them.

I've visited this restaurant several times at longer intervals – both in groups and as a couple. Unfortunately, the food hasn't really impressed me so far, and on my last visit, I also didn't tolerate it very well. Several things stood out among our group: • The fries were very hard, probably from being overcooked. • A crispy chicken burger was badly burnt, but it was easily returned. • Drinks were significantly delayed, even though it was a very hot day. • There were internet issues at one point, which were quickly resolved but could have led to payment difficulties for other guests. On a positive note, I would like to point out that the mayonnaise was served chilled upon request and the first server was very friendly. However, she seemed a bit overwhelmed on her own until assistance arrived later. The second server, who brought plates, unfortunately seemed rather annoyed. What I did like about previous visits, however, was that the milkshakes are truly delicious. Overall, I had the impression that the organization and quality of the food still have room for improvement, but there are certainly some positive aspects.

The food was really good, the service was nice, but I would have liked some help with the payment. The tip is displayed immediately, at least seven percent, but unfortunately there's no indication of whether you can pay less; it was confusing on the machine. And unfortunately, there was no thank you for the forced, generous tip either.

We were in town for a special occasion, the recent graduation of one of our nephew. The nephew and a group of friends decided they wanted to eat at Kullman's in downtown Regensburg. There was a reservation made for 2pm for a party of 16, but only 13 people showed. Being from the USA, I have never been in Kullman's and was very interested to see and experience the dining service, food and atmosphere. We arrived about 1:50 pm, and there was no parking in the rear of the restaurant. So, we dropped off our group and went to find a parking spot, which was down the street and left (towards the railway tracks), where we found parking. Once inside the restaurant, the decor was amazing and took a person back to 1950s-1960s USA diner. Very colorful and nostalgic. There is also outside seating too, if the weather is cooperating. We were greeted by our server, Oliver, who spoke fluent German and English. Oliver also brought us some Menus in English. He took our drink orders, and appetizer orders. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks, and took our dining orders. This was about 2:30'ish. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. About, 3:45pm we started to get restless. We had not seen Oliver, and had not seen any food. So, we inquired about our food, and we're told it would be out in 5 minutes. The food finally started arriving to the table around 4pm, with the last dish arriving around 4:15pm. This service is the reason for the 2 star service rating. Oliver reappeared, apologized and explained that the cook had an accident and he, Oliver, had to pickup the cook duties. He had asked his fellow staff members to help out with our table and also to explain what happened to us. The bad news is, none of the other staff members ever came over to our table, or explained anything to us. We saw servers all around us and even flagged a few down for beverage refills for the ~90 minutes we waited. As noted above, at 3:45 pm, we finally lost our patience and went over and demanded our food. The staff members should have all come together better as a team and covered our table. Hopefully, they will learn from this review or improve their service when these conditions and others like it arise in the future. When our food arrived, it was brought out in waves, which is okay, given, there were 13 of us in the group. All of the food was good and we were very hungry and ate it quickly. It was then that Oliver came out from the kitchen and apologized profusely. He told us what had happened, and gave us our checks. I very rarely give "service" a low star rating, but in this case, I cannot see how I can avoid it. Hopefully the staff and the owner will learn to covered situations like what I/ we experienced today so that other customers do not have the same experience. I would still visit Kullman's again and give them another chance. I think it's a good place to dine and they have a great atmosphere. The staff's very conscientious and I was having a good time as I got a chance to discuss things with everyone in our group.

The food was left at the counter, and the waiters didn't feel responsible for it, so the food was only lukewarm and the quality was subpar! At least not recommended today, as there was no notice or apology!

The food also perfectly matches the atmosphere – whether burgers, fries, or pancakes, everything was delicious and freshly prepared. The service was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for that American diner feeling, this is the place for you. I always enjoy coming back!

Highly recommended. Absolutely no complaints about the ambiance, service, or food. The server was very polite and courteous. No long waits, and the food... amazing! 😋 We always enjoy coming back, even if the prices are starting to get a bit steep. But you get a lot for your money.

The bar is good, but unfortunately there are no crosses above the doors, which is unchristian. The young gentleman "Darius" is friendly to his customers, though!

It's always nice to dine there—both inside and outside. Parking is often scarce, but you'll always find a spot somewhere. If necessary, continue on to the arcades in the parking garage. Reservations can also be made for larger groups. A large selection and delicious cocktails. Highly recommended.

Yesterday, we spontaneously went there with seven people without a reservation. The restaurant was very quiet at that time of day. The service was quite nice, but we had to wait over an hour for our food. Strangely, guests who arrived after us got their food much faster. I then complained to the waiter, but he didn't really care. Unfortunately, the food was very tasteless, and for €5 for fries, I expected more than 10 on my plate.

Went on a Monday evening and the place was not empty, a few tables were occupied. Rich varianty of food, including (very limited) vegan options. The food was quite okay but unfortunately, during our stay not one waiter came to us to ask us if we wanted anything else, dessert or even refill of our drinks. So that was quite a disappointment, sitting there for half an hour without drink and no one to walking up to you. Maybe the rule is to ask for the waiter or go the the bar, I do not know.. Also some of the staff looked tired that could maybe be the issue…. Had big expectations, which were unfortunately unmet…

I didn't like it. It's tasteless. Some of the products, namely the salad, were wilted. They impose potatoes on the burgers for an additional fee.

Unchanged for over 20 years! Great atmosphere and by far the best burgers in town. We'll be back.

The restaurant is easy to reach by car, the service was friendly, but the food, unfortunately, was not. One salad was limp except for the tomatoes, the other was rather tasteless with badly burnt chicken pieces, and the bread also had noticeable black streaks. The fries were so bland and lukewarm. Unfortunately, I can't share the positive reviews, and I won't be coming back.

There's no air conditioning, which is unpleasant in summer temperatures. Unfortunately, that's more the rule than the exception in Germany. The service was unusual. It wasn't loud, but it was clearly noticeable. This shouldn't be happening in the guest area and further spoiled the atmosphere. The menu offers a decent selection, although classics like a Reuben or a Philly cheese sandwich are missing. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing overall: - The mac and cheese was simply rigatoni topped with cheese. No creamy sauce, no refinement. - The wings and tenders were completely dry and overcooked. Even the sauce couldn't save them. - The steak with shrimp, on the other hand, was well prepared, medium as ordered. - The burger tasted okay, but visually absolutely run-of-the-mill. Not the special experience you'd expect in a diner. When I mentioned the quality of the wings, it was acknowledged, but without any reaction or apology. The service philosophy we're used to in the US unfortunately didn't resonate here. Then, when paying, the contrast: large buttons for 7 to 20 percent tips, a barely visible "No Tip" button. It seems intrusive. Aside from that, a tip isn't justified for this service. I lived in the US for eight years myself and also worked in the restaurant industry. Therefore, I know what a diner experience can be like. Unfortunately, the potential wasn't utilized here. We were a group of six and were looking forward to a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant visit. I wouldn't go again.

I wanted to take something to eat, stood in the entrance area, waiting, waiting, waiting – I was coldly ignored. I then looked for a seat and was very rudely informed that I had to wait there before being seated. After 10 minutes, I found a seat myself, hoping that the staff would finally do what they were paid for. Absolutely incompetent and arrogant staff. Poor staff management, German service mentality – we all know how abysmally bad it is. But this restaurant is not worth a visit.

Although it's a bit dated, it's still well worth a visit. The food tastes just like an American diner should: robust and hearty. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Highly recommended for a little indulgence between meals.

The staff is friendly and fast. We had two burgers, one with a double patty. They were solid, but not outstanding. The patties would have benefited from 30 seconds less on the grill, though. My biggest criticism is the restaurant—it's really starting to show its age.
