Salzstube "Am Kurpark" in Bad Staffelstein

After the bad meal at Tambach Golf Club, we wanted to give it another try, but we should have left it alone. The service was very unfriendly and smelled strongly of smoke, the toilet was awful... The only thing you can't complain about is the beer.

My wife ordered Sauerbraten. The meat was not good, the sauce was very thin and watery. Red cabbage was good but only lukewarm. I had Schäufele (shoulder of pork), which was a bit dry, and the sauce was also very thin and flavorless. The dumplings were okay.

So, for the first time in years, I've had THE perfect currywurst with fries. No nonsense. You probably know how it is: the sausage is good, the sauce is so-so, and the fries are just... But here, everything comes together perfectly. Amazing... I highly recommend it. And the price is great, too. €10 and I'm stuffed. That rarely happens 🤣😇

Food: The dishes were unconvincing in terms of taste, and even the water tasted off. The spicy currywurst sauce wasn't delivered. Pricing policy seemed inappropriate. Restroom floor slippery with a layer of grease. Safety and hygiene concerns. Overall impression: Very disappointing, unclear communication, poor organization and quality. Unreasonable prices. Hygiene standards should also be significantly improved.

Highly recommended. The service, and in general the staff, is very friendly, and there's a pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere. The food is, of course, also excellent.

A truly cozy restaurant. You walk in and feel at home. I was there on August 28, 2025, and ate an absolutely delicious and spicy (3 million Scoville) currywurst. The service is great, and the chef is professional. I would come back anytime.

Hello, we ate at Salzstobezom yesterday, and the prices were completely inflated for us. We ordered two schnitzels, a beer, and a white wine spritzer, and we paid almost 52 euros for that. That's a no-brainer!

I had the Schäufele (shoulder of pork). It was okay for €17. That was the Thursday special, which I got on Wednesday, since the Wednesday menu was sold out. The dumplings were missing salt. The regular price would have been €22. My wife had tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms. At €18, it was completely overpriced. There was too little on the plate for the money. She chose this because the cheese spaetzle was also sold out. For drinks, we had pilsner and dark beer. I would have preferred something a bit colder. The ambiance deserves the 5 stars.

Very good food and very good service

The food was good, but it was "schnitzel day," when everything cost €16, but we got half the portion. On top of that, the wild berries were forgotten, and we were given cranberries instead. It was busy, so I can understand that it was a bit more stressful under the circumstances, but we still had to remind people to order our drinks more often.

Six of us went out to dinner this evening. The pork knuckles were so delicious. The crust was crispy, yet the meat was tender on the bone. Superb. The shoulder of pork was also excellent. Simply fantastic. Gregor and Hakim looked after us attentively. We had a blast and a wonderful evening.

Saturday 5:00 p.m., the shady beer garden is full, with two young men serving, some of them running around trying to serve their guests. Whether everything is organized remains to be seen. After the first order involved a reasonable wait, the service was disappointing. A 45-minute wait and two repeated questions/reminders for a banal drink order ultimately led to frustration. Update: Thank you for the enlightening perspective, now I see things completely differently, of course 😉

The restaurant is proof that the friendship with Schubeck, Chris de Burgh, and Mike Süsser is no guarantee of lasting quality. You'll find the menu on the floor on the way to the restroom: pasta, gravy, and vegetables. "We're out of that" and "We only have that in a bottle" aren't pleasant, to say the least.

The food was okay, but the price-performance ratio wasn't right. Prices for regional Franconian wine were completely exorbitant.

We went there for dinner on Sunday with our friends and our two huskies. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the beer garden because the world had ended shortly before. The server was super nice. He brought a bowl of water for the furry friends without being asked. Since one of our dogs was very stressed, no one objected when he sat on the bench with us. <3 The food was incredibly delicious! Today we ate in the salt room for the second time during our holiday week. We already knew the restaurant from previous visits to Bad Staffelstein. Since there are apparently some bad reviews here, I would like to leave absolutely positive feedback. We have rarely experienced such friendly staff and our dishes were excellent both in terms of taste and value for money. Our extra request was also taken into account. As expected, the ambience is rustic - that doesn't bother you when you're eating *grin. The moss decoration is great.

We wanted to visit the salt room yesterday. We drove 50km and then closed. No information. Probably closed due to wealth

The food here is really excellent. We always enjoy coming here. A few pancakes would go quite well in the liver dumpling soup, but that only results in a minimal deduction from the B grade. The service is also very fast. The prices are not the lowest, but they are quite reasonable for the portion sizes. We have never left the salt room hungry.

We were skeptical at first because of one or two negative reviews, but we still wanted to see the salt room for ourselves, luckily! We really liked the great, rustic atmosphere right from the start. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and attentive. The food came just a short time after ordering and was really tasty. We had Camembert as a starter, which we shared between the two of us. In our opinion this was homemade and really tasty and beautifully presented. The same applies to the schnitzel - simply good! You can't really complain about the price either! If we come back to Bad Staffelstein, we will definitely eat here again! Thank you!

Wir waren auch hier Essen und es war rustikal. Als Knödel gabs Kartoffelbrei. Schnitzel der Durchschnitt ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Es war ein unerträglicher Qualm in dem Gastraum, so dass unsere Kleidung die ganze Woche stank, wie nach dem Besuch in einer nicht belüfteten Dönerbude. Dies habe ich per Mail an den Betreiber kritisiert - leider ohne Rückmeldung! Wir waren vor Jahren begeistert von der Gastronomie der Salzstube….. sehr Schade! Beschränkte Empfehlung unsererseits!

After visiting the thermal baths, we visited the restaurant. Attentive service, good Franconian beer and today a very good meal: Pieroggi (filled with cabbage) in an absolutely fantastically aromatic wild mushroom cream sauce. You can tell that people who know their craft are cooking in the kitchen. We'll definitely be back.

We were there for dinner on a Sunday. The dining room is nicely decorated, but it was very cold, so we kept our jackets on. The service was quick at the table. Unfortunately, he had to ask the kitchen for almost every dish if it was available. Although it was offered both in front of the restaurant and in the menu. There were two dishes not on the menu. The food was cold when it came to the table. It didn't taste bad, but everyone has to decide according to their taste. The service was again very friendly. We also had a problem when paying because there was no change. And paying by card is not possible there. PS: I also work on guests and cook a lot. My tip: Have a briefing with the staff before opening so that the waitress can point out any missing dishes straight away if necessary. And if you can't pay by card, always make sure you have enough change. And please only open the windows in summer temperatures, then the food might come to the table warm and the guests wouldn't have to freeze. Overall there is still room for improvement.....🫤

Nicht zu empfehlen. Meine Fettucine mit Wildfleisch waren alles andere als lecker. Das Fleisch ungewürzt, zäh und flachsig. Als ich das sagte, hieß es nur, er gibt es weiter. Das war es. Für uns sehr enttäuschend. Zu den Preisen hätte ich etwas deutlich Besseres erwartet. Nie wieder.

Ein tolles Restaurant mit rustikalem Ambiente und einem phantasievollen Dekor aus Salzsteinen und Moos. Originelle Idee! Gutbürgerliche bodenständige Speisen, echt gut zubereitet und manchmal einfach riesig! Wir waren schon oft da und es schmeckte jedesmal sehr gut.

First of all: the bad reviews here are incomprehensible to us! We were greeted right at the entrance, asked for our reservation (existing) and taken to the table. We were given the menus and knew relatively quickly what we wanted to order. Saturday=Hax day. So after about 15 minutes my husband got his knuckle and I got a caraway pork roast. Both came with Bavarian sauerkraut, a thick potato dumpling and dark sauce. We were completely satisfied. Highest rating = almost like you cooked it yourself! There was absolutely nothing to complain about and you can always order more salt and pepper if you are used to saltier food. For us it was perfect. The daily dessert “Pavlova” (meringue tart with cream and fresh fruit) was also very good. The portion sizes were sufficient even for hungry people and I couldn't quite finish dessert. The two of us were there on Saturday evening (October 5th, 2024) and paid €55 including 3 pints of beer/shandy. I think it's completely fine and appropriate. Both the landlord and the young waitress were very courteous, friendly and quick. The only disadvantage: the many steps to the basement restaurant. Not accessible for wheelchair users, very difficult for those with walking difficulties with crutches. Alternatively, sit in the beer garden in summer or take food home with you. It's definitely worth it! Clear recommendation!

The service was friendly and attentive. The food was prepared quickly. The quality was good, although nothing particularly outstanding, but what was offered was appropriate for the price. It was a bit unpleasant that we were the last guests and weren't asked out, but everything around us had already been tidied up and cleaned. This is absolutely understandable from the service perspective, but from the customer's perspective it is slightly unpleasant because you get the feeling that you should please leave now. Apart from that, the location is absolutely recommended.
